Death of a Dream
| —— | ![]() it's " give and take " , " hurry up and wait", build it up to break under the weight of every day. —— summary, this thread is happening on NOVEMBER 8TH, 2025, in the MORNING with @AODHAN SHAW / wc: 617. Win or lose, the Quidditch games they played didn't matter if the match felt sloppy. Granted, Harlan wasn't a captain, but he'd watch far enough professional league matches to see where there was components that could be tighten up and his name was Aodhan Shaw. The spunky second year Seeker was alright, but he made for an easy target because of his small stature, especially when the beaters on the other teams were brutal unstoppable forces smashing through their defenses. In the vein of radical honesty, Harlan hadn't the best showing either, but the team was young and held a lot of gaps because a lot of the upper year Gryffindors simply did not play Quidditch and stuck with sports like Broom Racing and Dueling. This might've been a growing year for the team, but that didn't mean they couldn't practice with the goal of sneaking a win away from one of the other teams. A few nights ago, Harlan found the second year goofing around with some of his friends and was quick to force him into a morning practice session on Saturday when he hadn't the excuse to try and get out of it. Grabbing himself a fruit for breakfast from the Great Hall, the fourth year was quick to hop on his broom and zoom off to the pitch to get himself set up appropriately. Before Aodhan could arrive, Harlan had grabbed the five different golden snitches that was a collection of his own and the teams and released them one by one into the sky to force their seeker to find each and every single one before he was finished with the training. It might've been cruel, but Harlan needed him to push himself because he could win their entire game for them with enough acuity to surpass his own limitations, especially while against the veteran seekers in the other teams. " Oh, you showed up on time. Good job, Aodhan. " Offering a thumbs up as he moved closer to the boy with his bright peach-colored hair. " Look, based on our last game, I think our team could use some extra practices and you're the first go at it, glory seeker. " The smirk cracked through Harlan's tough facade, enjoying his little play on words. The seeker was the attention getter, the lynch pin to any actually worthwhile team and as unideal as it was that Aodhan was only a second year, it didn't mean that they were immediately screwed. Perhaps, his weakness could also be his strength, too. " I decided to set up a little training for us here. There's five snitches that i've released within the Pitch. You have to find them all, seems easy enough, right? " The question lingered in the air as Harlan called his Silver Arrow up into his hand. " Except, i'll give you a minute head start before I come in and i'm going to attempt to blatch you. " His tone as serious as ever, perhaps even a chill as he spoke to Aodhan in a very matter-of-fact tone. " You're always going to be a target, you need to get comfortable with other players breathing down your next trying to take your ass out. " He hadn't known Ethan or Pax well, but Harlan wasn't one to mince words or pull punches for the sake of an ego. " Any questions before we begin? " He asked, still trying to get a read on Aodhan and if he was fired up and scared out of his mind, perhaps it was still processing with a slight delay. No offense to the second year, but he did seem the type who might've needed a few extra moments to understand what was actually going on. | —— |
