Soggy Breadsticks

It's funny. Jade never realized that she had, technically, asked him on a date until now.
During lunch Jade had talked to one of her classmates, a nice Gryffindor named Kayden, and decided that he was cool enough to hang out with it. She had decided to test the waters by asking him if he wanted to go feed the geese, or whatever kind of birds, on the lake. It was something actually sort of boring but she had a goal in mind. Usually Jade made even the simplest of things go wrong, or in her own vocabulary, get funky. Jade liked that words because it sounded just as exciting as her ideas for fun.
Jade actually didn't know if the geese would be on the lake when they got there. That's why as the last minute, after carrying her bag of leftover bread she had waited by a window that overlooked the lake to see if any of the birds were relaxing upon it. Lucky the day was just sunny and warm enough for them to be outside.
Now she was walking towards the edge of the lake, wondering when Kayden would come. Perhaps he had already came but had gotten tired of waiting for her, although she wasn't technically late or anything. But she felt kind of hesitant because Jade did realize that this sort of sounded romantic, and she had absolutely no intentions of flirting with him. She just wanted to have fun with someone.
Dating seemed like a trend around here, especially amongst the first and second years. Now that she thought of, who did Jade like? The only person she could really think of that she would even consider was the Hufflepuff prefect Reid Kovacs, but she wasn't at all attracted to him, Jade just had a lot of respect towards the boy. After all, he and two others had sort of saved her life.
She just hoped that Kayden wouldn't get the wrong idea. Jade didn't like to make people queasy or uncomfortable in that way, when you actually didn't like someone but you felt like they liked you, but you didn't want to say anything. Nope, no way, she would set things straight, even if she had to be straightforward. That's why Jade appeared a little apprehensive at the moment, her arms crossed as she chewed on her bottom lip with uncertainty.

Strutting up the stairs to the gryffindor common room, Kayden hummed a happy tune. Although the why had conversed at times, sharing interests of some sort, it was usually when Kevin O'Reilly was around. And her invitation came as a surprise to him. He had thought that she liked Kevin! In the boys dorms, Kayden looked around for his cleanest robes. Finding them in his suitcase, he changed into them. Examining himself in the mirror, he chuckled softly to himself. Who would've thought that little ol' me.... Trying to part his unruly hair was quite a task, and one he didn't accomplish. He wondered what this was, now realizing the gravity of the situation. She could have asked him as a friend... In that case, this was just a hang out. She could have asked him, however out of romantic attraction. Which would be surprising. Kayden wasn't the best looking one in th lot, so he focused on wit and charm to get things done. He shook his head, breaking that train of thought. He grabbed his wand and walked into the gryffindor common room. A prefect that Kayden had yet to know the name of came and clapped him on the back encouragingly. "Heard about you and Jade." He said with a wink. How the... How did he know? Almost reading my thoughts, he said aloud, "Words travels fast around hogwarts, bucko. Make her happy. Before that prefect Reid does." My face flushed, and I suddenly felt very warm. "Um, yeah ok. I'll try I guess..." The boy clapped my back again, "Atta boy! Now go run along."
I complied, wanting desperately to escape the situation. He began walking down to the garden, th place they had designated for meeting. His heart began thumping out of his chest, and he wondered if he'd be able to survive without passing out.
