Letters Home

Two weeks. Leo had been at Hogwarts for two weeks now. It had definitely been a packed full two weeks also and he was excited to get to finally send a letter home to his family to tell them about what he got to experience so far. He had wanted to send a letter home the week prior but decided to wait so he would have plenty to fill his letter with besides a couple of days worth of lessons.
As he entered the Owlery, he looked around and noticed it was empty, outside of the owls that sat waiting to be called to send out a letter, and went to take a seat on the floor with his notebook. He always enjoyed the quiet and it was perfect right now so he could focus. Taking his quill, he glanced at the paper and started writing out the letter.
With the letter finished, Leo pulled the paper out of his notebook and folded it up in half and then in half again before placing it into an envelope. He wrote out his home address on the envelope as well as his parents names and gave it to one of the owls to deliver it for him, thanking the owl before he watched it take the letter and fly off.Dear Mom and Dad,
How are you? I survived my first two weeks and I have so much to tell you both about. Oh, but I’m sure you’re both curious what house I was placed into right? Well, to no surprise I have joined the family in Ravenclaw. The common room is really beautiful, I like spending time in there. I don’t think the stories you all have told me did the castle justice at all.
So far I have been doing well in my lessons, the professors are all— interesting to say the least but I have been learning a lot and hopefully I will be able to tell you more when I am home in November. Which speaking of, don’t forget our deal!
I actually met some really nice people so far which has been nice to have some friends to spend time with outside of classes. Of course the most important thing is studying though, don’t worry.
Our head of house actually set up a fun event for all of Ravenclaw students yesterday! I got to see some ravens and even held an eagle on my arm! The magizoologist and expert was very interesting to listen to so I learned a lot.
Oh I even had some time to practice flying and playing quidditch with a new 2nd year friend! Maybe I will be able to join the house team someday and you both can come watch me on the Quidditch pitch!
I hope you both are doing well. How are Max and Maya doing? Is Max’s training to be an auror going well? I will be sure to send them letters too when I get the chance.
I miss you both a lot! I will write again soon!
Love,
Leo

Letters Home

location: Owlery date: Oct. 8th, 2025 speaking: 0042A9 thinking: 80A7FF
Leo hurried up to the Owlery after classes and was excited to read the letter he received from his sister and send one back to her. He looked at the envelope in his hand that had his name written on it. He could tell it was his from his sister even without her putting her name on it just by her perfect handwriting. It had been a while since he heard from her since she left for a trip after he left for school so he was curious to see what she was getting up to in her adventures. Leo turned the envelope over and saw a cute flower sticker on the back, carefully peeling it up so he could open it and take the letter out to read it.
As he finished reading the letter, Leo looked at the photo that was inside the envelope showing the place his sister had mentioned in the letter. It looked really pretty and he hoped he would get to go and visit South Korea with them next time like she suggested. He quickly tore a paper out of his notebook and used his quill to write a letter back to her right away, keeping the photo next to him as he wrote.
Dear baby brother,
안녕~ Hello~ How has your first month at school been treating you? In my last letter to mom and dad they said you were doing really good so far and that you made it into Ravenclaw of course. Make sure you keep up the Noxley name and Ravenclaw reputation. Kidding! But if you need anything or have any questions you can send me an owl anytime you know.
As for me I am currently writing from South Korea, Grandma Mira and I are sitting in a cute little cafe in the middle of Seoul as I write this. I wish you were here with us to enjoy this amazing trip but maybe we can all visit together another time. I think you would like it here a lot, the food, the style, so many things to see in the muggle and magical parts of the country.
Grandma Mira is going to take me to meet our extended family that is here so I am excited to see what they are like. Of course now I wish I learned a little more Korean since my basics aren’t going to help me much in casual conversation with them. Your Korean skills were always better than mine anyways. Luckily grandma will be able to help with that and help me a little translating some books when I go to do some research on South Korea’s magic scene.
I will try to send you out another owl when I go to Japan next month. Grandma Mira will be going back home to London before I leave here so make sure you go visit her when she returns, she said she misses you a lot.
Anyways, I hope you continue to do your best in your classes and I can’t wait to see you again over the holiday break! Oh and I attached a photo of Grandma Mira and I in front of this popular muggle tourist spot in Seoul called the Namsan Seoul Tower. It was really pretty at night looking out over the lights of the city.
보고싶어요! 사랑해요! I miss you! I love you!
~Maya~
After finishing writing his letter, Leo smiled as he placed the letter he wrote in an envelope, addressed it and handed it off to one of the owls. As the owl flew off with the letter, he went back out of the Owlery.
Dear Maya,
Yes the first month has been really interesting so far. You weren’t kidding when you said that everyday at Hogwarts was going to be an adventure. Thank you again for the journal, since we all know it was your idea, I enjoy getting to write in it when I get the chance. It will be nice to look back at that journal after the year is over. Don’t worry I wouldn’t dare to tarnish the perfect reputation of the Noxley’s. I have been working really hard on studying but still trying to join activities too. Actually I joined an unofficial quidditch match but I was knocked out first round trying to protect someone else but it was a fun experience nonetheless.
Oh we also just had our first formal ball of the year as well! It was an underwater/ocean theme and was held on this ship that sat in the middle of the Great Lake! Can you believe it? I actually went with one of my friends and met some others as well while we were there. And we narrowly avoided being stuck in an escape room game that they had there.
Make sure to tell me all about both trips when you come home in December and maybe bring me a gift or two from both places! The photo was pretty the tower looks really cool I definitely want to visit and also to meet our other family there too. I doubt my Korean is good enough either though but maybe 할머니 grandma can help me learn more in the meantime.
I’m glad though to hear your trip is going well so far. Please be careful and don’t get hurt doing anything stupid. I expect to see you in one piece at Christmas dinner.
Miss you!
Leo
