One year and twenty seven days since that faithful day. Oliver sitting upon that stool, everything being ripped from his arms. Unable to do anything to keep the Armani legacy held in his arms. When the hat shouted 'Slytherin' and not Gryffindor, it had been as if all the air was ripped from his lungs. Drowning in a pool of shame, the air escaping his lungs as he attempted to claw his way to the surface. Flailing lost and blind. The only thing able to drag him back to the surface was Aaron, and now he was gone. Oliver was lost again.

He had been forced to assist his brother move away from the home they'd grown up in again. He'd stayed with his brother for most of the summer, in Aaron's apartment that was closer to Hogsmeade. Oliver had still spent a few nights in the manor. Feeling more like a ghost then his great grandfather. They had been curt with him, but not familiar. He hadn't changed much in the year of schooling. So he didn't understand.

That was a lie of course, he learned how to listen better. Pay attention to more things. That had been how Oliver noticed her, September first, while all the first year's were being sorted. Oliver's sister in Gryffindor. That had left a painful sting in his heart, he'd hardly noticed as he rubbed the spot on his chest thinking about it once more. This wasn't about her, this was about Chada Sangthong. And what she could mean for Oliver.

Having once overhear the ghost that had overstayed his welcome in the Armani home. Haunting the next generation. He'd mentioned the Sangthong's in passing, noting how they'd been pure. Chada had been sorted into Slytherin. Like himself, he didn't know if there family was all a house like Armani's and Gryffindor's. But that didn't matter, they were pure. And that was enough for him. Oliver needed allies, or, friendships. Whatever it was labeled as. Aaron was gone, he hadn't seen Cirrus since the train ride to Hogwarts. And Novalie was off the table of him wanting to spend time with someone.

Oliver had been looking for the girl since he made the realization of the first years family. He was looking for her now, had been for a while now. Unsuccessfully. No doubt his own fault, he had just been searching in the Slytherin common room. That he was trying to avoid. His old roommate Gekko was gone, where, he didn't know. He didn't dare say he 'missed her', but the jokes he loathed. He lacked the words to say it, but he supposed the saying of 'you don't know how much you like something until you no longer have it' or however it went.

It had been foolish not to look in the clear place. Somewhere he knew she should be, if she ate. As most people did. He would look for Chada in the great hall. It was Saturday, no looming classes hanging over head. He'd struggled with spells in first year, and they were harder in second year already. Dread loomed over the book like a storm cloud. Looking for her was a welcome distraction.

Having found her during Lunch, sitting at the Slytherin table. Oliver took a deep breath, and walked up to it, taking a set across. Looking at the food provided. Sparing glances up at her, as if pretending to be uninterested in her. Oliver's brows furrowed, not seeing anything that he was interested in. There was a salad, but he was sick of that. Having eaten on for lunch the past two days. He craved his mother's cooking, her specially made vegetarian options for him. He sighed. Crossing his arms and leaning on the table looking at her.

"Chada, is it?" He asked bluntly. Skipping small talk, there hadn't been doubts in his head that she wouldn't share his world views. Looking down on Muggles and there kin. If she was pure like he assumed, it would be natural for him. "I am Oliver Armani." His last name said with less bravado then he'd used last year. "Tell me, how are you adjusting?" Ok, so maybe not skipping it. He needed her to warm up to him, or give some time for him to decide if she was annoying like that Shaw boy. This meeting was for himself, and nothing else.

CHADA SANGTHONG! 𓆗

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

There was nothing more irritating than being surrounded by a bunch of random, insufferable people who didn't know how close to greatness they were. It was almost sickening, how she felt like she was drowning in inner turmoil while everyone else got to be so...happy. It messed with Chada's head, just barely making her feel insane. Was she the problem? Was her own mind the reason she couldn't be happy, the words of the forgotten texts swirling around in her head almost daily.

No. She wasn't the problem, she was the solution.

Destiny was such a heavy burden, especially at such a young age, but when Chada thought about the future she was going to build, then it all the pains loosened just the barest bit. She shoved the food in front of her away with an annoyed huff, stretching her arms to her sides. It hit the students besides her, but she genuinely did not care. The girls gave her a glare, but she just met it with her own. It ended with them rolling their eyes and leaving the table, making Chada smirk in triumph. The small victories always felt the best.

The mini gloating was interrupted when some random boy sat across from her. His energy was different from the surrounding plebeians, making the girl tense up and divert her attention. He was clearly older, and somehow also around Chada's height. It caught her attention immediately, and she sat up straighter like a lion trying to stand it's ground. Part of her didn't like how his irritable energy seemed to grate against her own, and she debated putting a plate of mashed potatoes in her face to assert herself. But, luckily for him, he actually addressed her instead of just taking weird glances at her like some overgrown creep.

Immediately, the moment the blonde opened his mouth, he butchered the pronunciation of her name. Her perfectly arched brows twitched in annoyance, and she leaned closer to regard him with the ghost of a sneer on her lips. Chada had to remind herself that she needed allies, but she didn't think she could handle it if he was a muggle born speaking so casually to her, older or not. Only when he gave his name did the Thai girl actually calm down a bit, leaning back slightly with an arrogant smirk on her lips. She remembered seeing the Armani's spoken about in some of the records, a pretentious family almost as opinionated as the Sangthong's.

"Spare me the smalltalk, Armani, I'm not here for tea and biscuits." Nimble fingers toyed with the silverware before her as Chada aggressively took full control of the situation. Sure, the Armani's were up while the Sangthong's were....less than desirable than before, but that didn't mean she'd be some filthy bootlicker. She licked her lips in thought and let out a gruff chuckle, glancing up at the blonde boy from beneath her lashes. "You don't seem like the type to just randomly approach other purebloods, so something tells me we have a bit in common here. Speak." Chada Sangthong stood with both feet stuck in the mud while Oliver Armani stood on plated gold, but she acted as if she stood in the heavens itself. Intense, unwavering, and full of overbearing cockiness befitting 5 pureblood families rolled into one.

Oliver quirked a brow, and bit his cheek. Already feeling conflicted on how to feel about this girl. On one hand, he did appreciate the skipping of small talk. However, he did ask a question. It was rude to ignore that, despite him doing so many times himself with others. His lips twitched into something of a smile, though his eyes were narrowed. "Quite blunt I see..." Oliver muttered to himself running a hand through his hair. Trying to make understanding of the way she said 'Armani'. It felt, odd?

He cleared his throat and shook his head, He almost didn't want to tell her what he wanted. With the way she demanded him to speak. If he remembered right, Sangthong's had 'fallen from grace' so to speak. And here she was, speaking as if she was like him. Near the top of the social ladder, though Oliver could admire her trying to claw her way up. If that was indeed what she was attempting to do. It was to early to tell.

"very well then," He sat up straighter, in a challenge perhaps. To match her bravado. He took a moment to look at the table, picking up a grape and putting it into his mouth. He didn't know how to take back control, not really. Making her wait seamed good enough. He was the one that wanted this, to talk. After his less then satisfactory grape. Still, his eyes browsed the spread in front of him. As if that were more interesting then the conversation. "I need allies. Not friends," Though he needed friends according Aaron. "Ones who's views align with my own."

Then, did he look up at her. Blue eyes meeting her black. Testing to see how she would react to that. He'd had some... interactions last year because of what he thought. Though he felt justified in all those situations. Muggles needed to stay in there place, away from him and magic. Oliver took a deep breath, you call one a mudblood one time and get attacked. As if that wasn't what they were, dirty mud in the fountain.

Her words prior gave him pause, 'a bit in common' that gave him some hope she was like him. Had the correct thinking. "There are to many Muggle Borns here, I need people I know I can trust with my views." He shivered at the thought of the fight he'd gotten in last year. "The kids are violent, I think it would be in your best interest as well to ally with me." He felt like his father, discussing a business transaction. He wondered what his father would think of him now, with his sister in Gryffindor. Though he was making the move to get relationships he could tell them about.

Nothing like @Novalie Moon. She was a constant thorn in his side. Did things without thinking, Aaron liked her. For whatever reason. But his parents, they wouldn't like her. No. Not at all. He kept her hidden, how often they talked. And hung out against his will. Chada he could talk about, at least he knew she was pure. It all came down to this, how she saw purebloods. And if he could tolerate her enough. Oliver looked at her, waiting for her answer.

CHADA SANGTHONG! 𓆗

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

A smile befitting a money hungry baron slid across Chada's lips, the Armani's words going through one ear and marinating in her brain like a hot bowl of Tom Yum Goong Nam Sai. What a miracle it was to have a golden egg laid out in front of her, especially after her previous disgraceful attempt. The memory was horrid and just the thought was shoved back to the confines of her mind, that was useless to think of. Instead, she refocused her mind to think of how she could take full control of this situation to her benefit.

Sure, Chada Sangthong had the past against her family name, but absolutely nothing could stop her from grasping the opportunity by the throat. "Allies..." She chuckled gently under her breath, but there was no humor in that laugh. A gruff huff escaped shortly after as the girl sat straighter, her smile lopsided and eyes half lidded. She looked very much like the cat who caught the rat, or was it the cat who got the cream? Who cares, an Armani was begging for a connection! Her chin held high, Chada looked down at Oliver from beneath her nose, with a sneer on her face.

"Interesting. An Armani punching down? You must be desperate, especially with so many other higher society names here." It was blunt, arrogant and borderline rude, but God, she didn't care. He clearly needed her, and that stroked her ego into to make her relax just the tiniest bit. Stiff shoulders lowered, brows softened and the most vile smile on her lips. Chada had half a mind to just continue to dig into Oliver, savoring her foothold over him like it was the juiciest steak she'd ever had, but his words about muggles made her pause. It was true, there was an annoying amount of those filthy rats in Hogwarts, and it made her feel sick. She may have been from a disgraced family, but she was still a pureblood first and foremost.

"Mudbloods...." Chada hissed beneath her breath like a curse, the sneer deepening on her lips as she tugged absentmindedly on a curl that fell in front of her face. Violent mudbloods? What else was new from these barbarians, brute forcing their way through life like untamed animals. Some of the students seemed to hear her say the curse, but only a few dared to glance at her about it. With a very unladylike grunt, Chada stabbed her fork into the table, and she stood up from the table. She gave all the lunch food a disgusted look of annoyance before catching the Armani's gaze once more. "Let's discuss this in a better place, this food is making me sick to my stomach." She gave another unladylike motion, a flick of her head to indicate a more secluded spot in the Great Hall for them to continue. This opportunity was too good to pass up, even more so since she had the upper hand. Just the thought of all the situations she could get herself into by using his status to further herself made her feel almost giddy inside, a dry chuckle leaving her lips as she glanced back at the fool of the hour. Or was she the fool here? Clearly, he needed something too, but regardless, she planned to come out on top. No matter what.
