Elmo was seated at his desk in the front of the classroom in the middle of teaching fourth years about Dolores Umbridge and her early life. How he loved the Dark Wizards unit. He reached into one of his drawers and pulled out a jar of the Old Smoky Moonshine, Blackberry. Rather deep red in color. He took a long sip and all he could taste was practically.. regret wrapped in some form of velvet, like he had consumed the blood from a murdered berry patch.

The sweetness of the blackberries hit first. Oh god, how the tanginess, lush, syrupy liquid coated his tongue and inner cheeks as it rushed towards the uvula. Then the burn arrived. It was sharp, smoky and lingered in his throat and on his tongue. Elmo stared at the fourth years and continued his... long... sip until the jar was empty, pulling out his wand with one hand as the other pulled the mouth of the jar away from his lips. He had two jars, so he might as well drink the second one.

He set the jar down. And put his wand down, unsure exactly what he was thinking at that moment. And he grabbed out another jar with the same taste and look and unscrewed the lid, bringing it to his lips and chugged.

And he dropped the empty jar to a resounding shattering noise, and with his other hand grappling the wand he previously put on the desk, he threw it (the wand) towards the ground, watching it bounce off unharmed. Bloody hell, did he have to break a wand himself? He needed to cast a spell. Destroy the wand. Good thing he was wandless.

Elmo staggered forward, his eyes glassy and breath thick with.. well.. the sickly sweet smell of blackberries with a hint of 'shine.

He pointed at the wand as if the wand had betrayed him.

"Expelliarmus... yourself." He mumbled. He giggled. "No wait. Avada wandrabca" He grinned maliciously, but nothing happened. Shit. The wand didn't move, burn or snap. The students only gasped at the avada attempt. Screw this.

Elmo hiccupped and leaned on the desk. "You think I'm drunk?" He asked the class, only for half of them to nod and say yes. Damned kids. "I'm not drunk. I'm.." He lost his train of thought.

Her patience at Hogwarts was wearing thin. Her closest allies had all left, and the staff team had changed so much in the past few weeks that it was a struggle to even walk through the halls of the castle without losing control. Yet her face bore the same blank, emotionless expression that it had for many years. Over a decade, in fact. The only people who could actually make her smile had left these halls...

The Deputy Headmistress walked through the empty corridors, feeling the burden of her loneliness in every step. Much more now than she ever had before. In her hands was a small square Tupperware box that she gripped as though it held her very life. Lessons were in session, so the corridors were devoid of students. She had recently been in the kitchen and was now walking back to where she needed to be. Perhaps to the Headmaster's Office, perhaps to the Owlery, perhaps to her wandering cat or her desk that would remain a mystery from prying eyes.

Her step came to an immediate halt as she heard a smashing sound followed by the words travel in the air. Avada... It never finished. There was no flash of green light. Before she had even exhaled, she turned to see one of the new professors grinning at a classroom full of students, leaning on his desk and pointing at his wand, on the ground. Was he trying to display wandless magic? Perhaps. But he was not saying "accio" or anything that made sense. He was saying... avada...?

No. This couldn't be happening. He was obviously just going to teach them about the Unforgivables, not try to use them. Of course. He was... she frowned in thought. Yes, the History of Magic Professor. With a funny name that she had heard before... Oh yes, Elmo, like the red muppet. He was... drunk? Wait- what? There were a million thoughts in her brain, whizzing past as she tried to process what was happening. She was definitely jumping to conclusions. No way was he drunk.

Her feet moved before her brain could even really react, approaching the open door. Her gaze fell onto the students. Young students. He was... behaving this way... during class... She normally would not react harshly, to help save the professor's face and simply ask to excuse him. However, her patience had grown very thin indeed. And being drunk whilst teaching was not acceptable. He was not only compromising the education and confidence of these students, he was risking their lives whether or not he realised it and that was a line she was not willing to compromise.

From the corner of her eye, she could see the jar on the desk and the smashed bottle, glass everywhere, on the ground beneath them. The smell hit her nose within an instant and it took all of her control not to gag from the sudden intrusion. She felt sick. Not from the smell but the sight of everything happening in this room. Was he like this regularly? The students did not seem to be phased by it and that concerned her even more. It was disgust at his behaviour that spread through her body like a poison.

"What do you think you're doing, Break?" She spat out in a tone harsher than many students even realised she was capable of. She did not often lose control of her emotions but today, she felt like a snake ready to spit out venom on her opponent.

She did not tear her eyes away from the manchild in front of her, "Please excuse us, class. Please turn to the chapter of Unforgivable Curses and read up on why they aren't to be used while I have a chat with your dear Professor. " She continued as she moved closer to him. She knew that the students would not be reading, they would most likely be trying to listen or watch in. But she did not care about that. What she cared about was leaving children in a room with smashed bottles and alcohol, "Talk to your classmates about what you've learned. And do not move from your seats." The second part of the sentence was emphasised, almost daring them to disobey her. She was in the mood to expel everyone from this castle.

If he did not stop her, she would grab him by his ear and pull him out of the classroom, into the corridor. Her heart beat was racing in anger. It took every ounce of what little patience she had left not to smash the other jar over his head. That would be assault but she feared whatever he was doing when they had not been watching might have been much worse, by the few seconds she had seen. Was he always drunk?

"I'm.." He repeated again, staring at the gorgeous woman that stormed in. He remembered her. But her role? He was not so sure of. Granted, he graduated the year that the site started. He was.. old. But the lady was older. "I'm pleased to make your acquaintance." He said, breath reeking as he swooped in to be face to face, his nose barely pressed up against hers.

And in response to her order to the students, he mumbled under his breath, "they do no" He hiccupped. "not have the textbook." He swallowed. "just packets. Nothing on adava kadama o imperia o crucio." Oddly enough, Crucio was the only spell of the three that he had said correctly. Maybe because he had used it in the past against a student.

Elmo blinked, swayed slightly. "You're beautiful." He snorted, trying to lean in for a kiss, not expecting the worst. Oblivious. Lack of a braincell.

He intentionally ignored her concerns. He thought kissing her would make everything better. He hiccupped again. "Just one." He whispered. His eyes got dangerously close to hers, but they were closed. His nose brushed hers and he had no sense of remorse or regret in that very moment, ready to kiss, ready to wipe the worry off of her face.

The foul stench of his breath hit her nostrils, causing them to flare up. He was far too close to her. The list of people who were allowed to get so close to her was very very short. Not many got the pleasure and lived to tell the story the next day. She felt even more nauseated by the whole experience. Was he... flirting with her? Did he really think that that was where this leading to or that it would get him out of trouble.

Hjørdis was never one to like physical touch. She preferred people to keep their distance - both physically and emotionally - and rarely allowed anyone near her. The list of people who had received a hug from her was so short that even a one-year-old could count that high and they could barely say any words. Within Hogwarts, the number was less than however many fingers Break had left on his hand. You know, before she would break them.

Yet, she stood perfectly still. Her face was trying to remain as emotionless as she could muster up in this moment - which was very hard when she was feeling a lot of negative emotions from pure rage to sheer disgust. She could barely speak without getting a whiff of the stench of alcohol on his breath. Oh, how she missed the sweet smell of honey or the earthy musk that she had grown very fond of. This manchild's flirting had absolutely no effect on her, other than the strong urge to vomit on his face right now.

Her eyes flickered to the students, still sitting in their seats. They did not have textbooks? What sort of class was this...? How did any student learn anything from this creep? For starters, he thought the unforgivable curses were pronounced weirdly - though he did manage to get one correctly, which oddly did not sit well with her. If anything, that made her feel more grossed out by the whole thing.

Still gripping her Tupperware box in one hand, Elmo would find the sharp pointy edge of her wand digging into him, right underneath his jaw. She intentionally pressed it in a little, making sure she did it right next to the bone, towards the back where the neck met his head. "Unfortunately for you, only one of us is sober enough to correctly pronounce the killing curse," She warned, "And even the courts would argue my use of it forgivable," She continued. She had not consented to... whatever he was thinking about doing and she was not going to play this game with him.

Her beauty truly was a curse sometimes. Oh, how she wished she looked more like a hag on days like these, or rather moments like these.

Twisting the wand, Hjørdis continued, "Now, take a step back before I blow a hole right here or worse, I shove this so far up your nose that you will feel your brain erupt," There was a lot of damage that she could easily do, without resorting to an unforgiveable curse. Even a first-year incendio would hurt if she aimed it into his nostril or a well placed bombardo would, quite literally, blow his brains out.

Now she had absolutely no intention of killing him but she did want to lay down some ground rules. For starters, consent was key. Now she was not really one for spells or even fighting, she much preferred potions to do her dirty work. But in these very halls, she had risked her life to fight hags. She had been scarred, cursed and traumatised by events that tried to claim the lives of her students. And yet, she still chose to avoid allowing students to see fights until now.

If he ignored her warnings and proceeded to try and kiss her, she would retaliate with a spell."Surpo Energia," She would state, matter-of-factly, pointing directly into his jaw as she did so. [Casting roll: 19 + 20 = 39, Success]. If successful [Accuracy roll of 19 + 14 = 33], the spell would hit him cleanly unless he managed to stagger out of the way [Evasion roll: 2 + 10 = 12, but you're welcome to autododge/reroll etc] and quickly dodge his attempts at making out.

If he backed away or did not make any foolish advances, he would be spared from her wand - for now - but would still be victim to the daggers that were being shot out of her eyes. "I much shove this up your nostril than give you even the satisfaction of one," She retorted, making it very very clear that she had no desire to kiss him. There was only one who got to kiss her, and his scent was far better than the foul odour coming out of this manchild.

Break countered the words of his superior in commanding the students of what to do. "Go to page 231 of your packet and.. no wait, Professor Break, where's my fish? Professor Break knows more than you lot ever will." He stared at the walls and back at the beautiful woman countering him. "what was I saying?"

He turned and tried to find what he was talking about. His eyes failing to find it until he saw a woman wearing pink. "her- read bout her.. if you can even manage that with your dirtbag brains." He saw the students being conflicted and just to set an example, he picked out an empty desk and mentally (and wandlessly) casted Flipendo, just to watch the desk slam hard against the stone walls with a reverberating ringing.

He squinted and his breath reeked heavily as he spoke his words with the intent of being vile, multi-syllable words sending bits of spit in Nora's direction. "Someone's a murderer.. you going to kill me here? Let's just do this in the halls? Unless you wish for the students to witness the worst professor on the planet getting fired. Justice for that kid with the dumb name, justice for the two girls I made duel each other in a detention I forced them into. Justice for the crucio I used on-." He continued speaking but his words started to sound more incoherent and difficult to understand. It's likely she wouldn't have had the full picture of what truly did happen unless people did snitch (oc: see owl for explanation)

He heard the words but felt nothing. He laughed coarsely and quite rudely in the lady's face. "HA, Professor Break can cast a better spell than that." But after saying so, he felt himself staggering worse than he was, his words becoming incoherent, and he couldn't say anything that was comprehensive. He took a step back and crouched to his knees, his arms covering his stomach as he felt an acidic boil of sorts coming up his throat and.. out onto the ground splattering around the shoes. Hope they weren't that expensive.
