"...hm, from what I have been told by my parents...it's a huge castle, tons of different secret passages."
He started, voice as monotone as always... He doesn't seem all that excited to go to Hogwarts- then again, he doesn't look like anything...more like a Statue that learned to speak, it's kind of eerie...but he doesn't seem like a mean person.
"... there's a lot of stairs too, and I'm not Looking forward for all the open spaces with so much sunlight."
He paused for a second, as if thinking...
"that, and the noise...still, if you're one to enjoy loud playing and having fun, then I guess you'll enjoy it."
He said with a shrug, eyes unblinking as he turned to look back at the window.
Hogwarts didn't sound like something he would enjoy, especially not when his mother said it in such a... anxious way- like she was glad she was out...but that's expected of her, she's always hated social gatherings- especially school- Azrael's father told him that she was the happiest she's ever been when they bought a manor far away from everyone else, it was like a dream come true to her...still, she wanted better for Azrael and to be fair she DID try...but he still turned out just like them, and he doesn't seem to enjoy people either.

“Seems like you already know the school quite well, have any elder siblings? I imagine it will be a bit awkward living with your teachers. Imaging coming across one of your teachers on your way to getting a midnight snack. I mean, if you going to sneak out, do it well but still what if?” She stopped abruptly. Was she rambling? She knew she’d been rambling? Why couldn’t she just keep her mouth shut? She had wanted to seem cool and this wasn’t the way to do it. Nobody likes a chatterbox.
She observed the boy, Azrael. He was very peculiar, his posture quite stiff as if he were to snap in half when attempting to stretch and, those eyes. They were abnormally large and seemed to stare right into the depths of her soul. She could sense her hands get clammy whenever he looked at her like in that way. She shuddered at the thought. Maybe it was best to think of other things.
The girl had seemed unusually quiet. She hadn’t said anything since her arrival. Was she just shy, or was there another reason behind her silence? “I’m assuming you know each other?” She asked Azrael, hoping the girl would respond in his stead.

Azrael simply blinked, seemingly completely not bothered by her talking- hell, he didn't seem annoyed at all...well, it's not like he seemed like anything really- he was basically just blankly staring as they talked to each other.
"...I don't have any siblings, but my parents both went to Hogwarts- they told me how it was for them."
His eyes narrowed as he turned to look back at the window, as if thinking for a moment.
"...the ride is 9 hours, I have galleons to buy sweets from the trolley if you're hungry."
He said with a shrug, he hasn't shifted even once Despite sitting there since before the train had even started, it's like he's not bothered by anything...it's quite eerie, really.
"...and, yes- we just met." He mumbled, reffering to Meave.
By now, the train had quieted down, but every time someone passed- either to buy sweets or something else, they'd peek inside their cabin, as if trying to get a look at Azrael...not because he was popular, but because he looks like he'd randomly cast an ancient curse for accidentally bumping into him...which is obviously not true, but when you look so eerie- it's easy for people to be weary...and for rumours to start easily.

Meave blinked in surprise when she noticed the girl standing nearby, realizing she hadn’t even heard her approach. Heat crept up her neck as she straightened a little in her seat, trying to look less startled than she felt. Still, she managed a small, polite smile.
Oh, um… yeah, we— we just met, She stammered, glancing briefly at the boy before looking down again. I’m, uh, Meave. Meave Fenhollow. Her voice trembled slightly, betraying her nerves. She tugged gently at a loose thread on her robe, winding it around her finger as she added, I’m not really sure which house I’d fit into. I guess… I’ll just have to wait and see which one I get added into.
She gave a soft, awkward laugh that faded almost as quickly as it came. The thought of being sorted in front of everyone made her stomach twist. What if she didn’t belong anywhere?
Turning back toward the window, Meave watched the landscape roll by, the fields blurring beneath gray clouds. The movement calmed her a little, though her fingers still fidgeted absently. It’s just one train ride she reassured herself. You can handle this. It’s just… different. Really different.

Jada was the first in her family to attend hogwarts as her parents had attended other magical schools abroad.
Would the teachers favour those who’s families had preceded them?
Nine hours!? Nobody warned me the journey would be this long. I would’ve brought more stuff to do.
She sighed. She missed her old home already where school was only a five minute walk away, unlike here.
Would here parents send her packages? She sure hoped so. One filled with her favourite treats, both muggle and magical. She could almost taste the sweet melty Cadbury chocolate on her tongue or the fizzy burn of acid pops. A smile spread across her face as she thought. Perhaps the trolley would have some of them.
She thought back to Azrael’s offer.
Do you know if the food on the trolley is any good? she asked. I haven’t got much money but it should be enough for now.
It’s not like her family didn’t have much money, it’s just that she had spent it all at the train station before boarding. She really shouldn’t have spent so much but, she could always ask her parents to send more. She’d heard that there was a small village nearby that they could visit on weekends. Hogsmead? It was something in that direction. She really didn’t want to miss out on anything because of stupid money.

Azrael seemed to think for a second, as if trying to remember anything his parents told him about the sweets....his parents had told him a LOT of stories about the sweets, especially his father, who seemed to really enjoy them- still, their tastes weren't exactly proof that something tasted good unless Jada tried it for herself...so, he finally spoke after a few seconds.
"...not sure, although I heard the chocolate frogs and pumpkin pastries were the best."
Even though he was talking about something he seemingly like- (by how his pupils became bigger at the mention of sweets), his expression remained eerily blank- as if it was the only expression he was ever able to use on his face...that, or he simply didn't feel like feeling anything right now.
"...you could try them and see if you like them, or you could just choose something that catches your eye."
With a small shrug, Azrael finally shifted- he's very neatly dressed in his uniform, his plain black work robes were clean and neat, his shoes were practically sparkling- and he was holding a black umbrella alongside his bag- something that didn't exactly make much sense, he seemed to have it ready to use...but it's sunny outside, incredibly so too.

Meave fidgeted with a thin bracelet hidden in her pocket, the small charm brushing against her fingertips like a secret she wasn’t ready to share. It was one of the few things she’d brought from home — something to remind her of the world she’d always known. When her nerves grew too much, she let go of it and clasped her hands together instead, thumbs rubbing in small, anxious circles.
Her gaze drifted to the passing countryside again, her mind spinning with questions. What will Hogwarts even look like? She tried to picture it — grand towers, floating candles, maybe enchanted staircases like the stories said — but it was all a blur of imagination and disbelief. Being Muggle-born, the thought of actual magic still felt unreal.
When the others mentioned chocolate frogs, Meave blinked in confusion, tilting her head slightly. There are frogs? she asked, her brow furrowing. Like… real ones?
Her tone was soft but sincere, more curious than alarmed, though her nose scrunched slightly at the idea. Why would they be covered in chocolate? she added, half to herself. Magic, it seemed, was going to take a lot of getting used to.

Ooh. It's been a while since I've had a chocolate frog, I think I'll grab some of those. Jada replied. She had collected the cards that came with them for a while now but had left her collection at home. Now, she had to start from scratch. She wasn’t sure where she’d get them from at school though. Another thing her parents would have to send her.
You know the cards at the back of them, the ones you can collect? She said her arm disappearing into her backpack, digging through it in search of her purse, I have a whole collection of them back at home.
Her thoughts were a mess Why would you tell them that? You barely even know them. What if it's not cool? What if they think your weird? You should be saving your money anyways. What would your mother say?
Jada smiled nervously, her clammy hand still groping through the insides of her bag, looking for that goddamned purse.
Jada pulled out an emerald green purse, embroidered with moving images of little bows and a flute. Finally! she thought. Well, I'll be off to the trolley then, do you want me to get you anything? she asked, hoping to use the opportunity to get a bit of fresh air and calm her thoughts and racing heart.

"... they're not actual frogs."
Azrael said, calmly reassuring Meave that they were not in fact about to eat frogs covered in chocolate.
His eyes narrowed as he heard about the collection, he didn't seem to mind...then again, he didn't seem to care about anything at all-
"...My mother collects them too, she has a box full of them in her room."
He simply stated, seemingly completely fine with the card reveal- he didn't seem hungry though, he seemed to be more concentrated on leaning away from the sun than anything else.
"...It's alright, I'm not hungry."
After a pause, he grumbled under his breath...
"hopefully it rains, I'd hate for it to keep being sunny."
It's not exactly known why he hates the sun so much, or why he's so eerie with his eyes- but it's clear he's not bothered by anything other than that...or that he cares about anything that people might judge him for, he seems completely comfortable in talking and doing what he wants regardless of what other people think, he isn't the type to hold back to look "good" in front of others...much less impress someone or try to fit in by being "cool".

Oh, well… that’s good to know, Meave sighed softly, her shoulders relaxing in visible relief. The idea of biting into a real frog had made her stomach twist, but now she managed a small, amused smile. She turned toward Jade, still a little shy but trying to be polite. Um… I’m okay, thank you, she said, her voice gentle but sincere.
Turning back to the window, Meave squinted as sunlight streamed through the glass, warming her face. The brightness made her blink, and she lifted a hand to shield her eyes. I hope it rains, she thought wistfully. It’s too sunny outside… too cheerful. There was something comforting about rain — the steady rhythm, the soft gray skies. It reminded her of home, of quiet afternoons spent indoors where everything felt calm and safe.
Reaching into her pocket, she rummaged around until her fingers brushed against something familiar — her worn guitar pick. Pulling it out, she ran its edge gently across her palm, the motion soothing her nerves. The little piece of plastic wasn’t much, but it was hers, a tiny bit of normal in a world that was anything but.
