Arjan grumbled as he scratched himself on the narrow passageway. Who built such small passages in the middle of a race?! Did they not know that The Arjan Oberoi was here? His muscles and broad shoulders meant that his body was far too wide to fit through. So many muscles. His huge biceps meant that he struggled to get through such narrow passages or door frames, because he was so beefy! That was obviously the reason he got bonked. He was not clumsy or careless or anything! He was such a skilled flier that there would be no other reason! It was unfair - the smaller people could easily fly through, but he? He had muscles for MONTHS!

How could anyone expect such a large frame get through such a narrow passage! Ridiculous! This was clearly unfair! Of course, it barely hurt him. It simply was a scratch to him but still, they dared to scratch his gorgeous biceps?! This was an outrage! Whoever designed such a course was clearly a savage who was jealous of his amazingness!

He managed to fly through the rest of the obstacles he passed but he most of it was open air. What was going to be difficult was what lay ahead of him, rather than what was behind him... It was very clear that he had never partaken in the race nor did he bother to pay any attention to the sport, since he did not play it at Durmstrang - and he knew his sister did, which meant he wanted to avoid it anyway.

Ruby sighed upon hearing that Procoppio was still an active participant in the race. Couldn’t you just have stayed down? The two did not exactly have a history of being able to coexist in the same space easily, which seemed to continue to be the case—and rightfully so, considering the extensive ways they had wronged one another in the past. Both were too stubborn to forgive and forget, especially by this point. However… if they had to be stuck with each other, at least it was during a sports game where they were on opposing teams. It meant that violence was not only tolerated and expected here, but, rather, sanctioned and even encouraged.

While Ruby wanted to continue to “get even” with Procoppio and this was a convenient way of doing so, she also didn’t want today to be about the older girl. She was here to have fun, not deal with this. So, instead of immediately attacking Procoppio, Ruby decided to focus on her part of the race. Without much issue, she managed to avoid a spell that was heading her way, but she didn’t have quite as much luck with the race course itself, bumping into most of the things she was encountering. It hurt a tiny bit, but it wasn’t enough to be significant, and she wasn’t going to dwell on it, either.

Samuel hadn't expected to be knocked off his broom in the manner the very act bad taken place, what he imagined to be a mute day with rare sights had taken a different turn than the German man might have imagined.

Getting knocked off his broom was a rare occurrence, much less was the act of being among the last few people on the track. Samuel wasn't accustomed to being so far back in comparison to his peers, team mates or the opponents he was squaring off against.

Remounting his broom, Samuel made quick work of the tedious task as he grabbed the ride with his hand and pulled it towards him, quiet obedient, much like a pet raised from years was the nature of the broom. Unlike what one would expect from the usual behaviour that Samuel displayed.

The man had a perfectionists' need to take care of all his belongings, no matter what purpose they served, if they did serve any at all.

These Hogwarts and beyond kids had racked up quite the skills meanwhile Samuel had been carrying out tasks for the Ministry of Magic.

While he had no interest in trivial sports beyond what they did for a physical evaluation and improvement, Samuel had to give this youngsters their props for how well adjust they all seemed to be on the field.

Some might find lab rats they would be.

Lavinia was speeding through this course. All of a sudden she had gone from the start line to the whomping willow to catching up with the leaders. It was so much to fun to fly though, she almost forgot about the obstacles the obstacles on the course. Running into possibly a wall, Lavinia felt a tingle shoot through her arm but had no time to even glance at it when she noticed more people falling around her. It was almost like quidditch how many people were getting knocked off their brooms. All Lavinia could do was hope she would as flying fast enough to avoid any actions taken against her.

Speed was the name of the game, from broom racing captaincy Lavinia knew just how important having the team fly was. No need to stay at the start and throw spells when the goal was to reach the finish line. Even though she had no chance to talk with her team at this race, Lavinia just took off flying by herself and noticed her teammates were doing the same while the other team was caught up in casting spells.

Continuing to fly, Lavinia noticed, could it be, the finish line not too far ahead of her. There were so many chances for her team to win and she was trying to optimize hers by flying until her broom gave out.

Mr. Lansdale, on the other hand, has more success with spellcasting from his grounded vantage point: He sends Mr. White backward. The "Knight" promptly falls of his broom near the waterfall. Mrs. Alptraum-Leveret attempts to do the same to Ms. Towers, but latter is an experienced racer and is able to avoid the spell. An odd movement turns Ruckus's attention back toward the beginning of the track—Professor Sauber is wrapped in tight cords, and judging by how he careens into obstacles, this was probably not some strange part of the his team's strategy. "Professor Sauber is all tied up! I'm not sure how it happened, there's only one of me and twelve dangerous flyers—but I suspect there might be some cheating afoot." Ruckus found it out hard to believe he missed something, and felt even worse it resulted in the bruising of a colleague, but, hey, that's broom racing for ye.

That was the thought that went through his mind as he performed a small heel-click – for luck! – and cast Fulgari at the young man on the other team. Professor Sauber, he was called, a sentiment that was affirmed by the referee. Cyrus watched with wide cerulean eyes as cords bound the professor's arms to his body, and he grinned, bouncing on his feet. He glanced around him, suddenly recalling that he'd just committed a foul, but no call-out occurred. Maybe the ref wasn't looking at lanky, duck-loving Americans who were loitering suspiciously by the starting line.

He clicked his heels together another time as he stared after Bridget and Ami, whose escapades did not actually seem to be going so well. 'YOU CAN DO IT, GUYS!!!!' he yelled after then, cupping his hands around his mouth in lieu of having to acquire a megaphone. He wished he had helped to heal them, but sometimes you had to be the bad guy... not that Cyrus liked that! But he hoped Professor Sauber would forgive him for the discomfort. It was all a game, right?

Golly goose, he still felt awful about what he'd done to Serena. He wouldn't have done it if it weren't for the game! He gulped – he wouldn't blame her if she yelled at him later. In fact, he probably deserved it...

He clicked his heels again for good measure and sighed. Something something, there's no place like home, something something. It sure seemed like he wasn't in gloriously sunny Kansas anymore!

Koko cast a quick, triumphant smile at Galton as his Depulso had the intended effect. She wouldn't think twice about poor Howard having to go through all the units again – just because they were flatmates didn't mean that broom racing wasn't war!

As Koko hustled towards her broom, she attempted to fix her hair once again, but feared it was of no use. She would be stuck with strands horrifically plastered across her forehead and eyes, and it seemed there was naught she could do. She flexed her fingers, checking that her nails were in fine condition, and forced herself forward.

She only relaxed a bit once the familiar hefty weight of her Oakshaft rested in her hand once again. She straightened her spine, stretched her shoulders, glanced left and right and smirked at the chaos that the other team seemed to be going through with the squid. Maybe it was okay to have acquatic animals in a broom race if it hurt the other team...

Professor Weems's words went in and out of her ears until the last part – Serena was already at the finish line? Oh, hell no. All the relaxation Koko had attempted to muster left her as she mounted her broom and narrowed her eyes. Not on her watch.

Alright! Broom racing wasn't so bad! Howard was doing pretty good. In fact, he might just mess around and win this damn thing! The waterfall and proven quite the challenge. A bit absurd that this was one of the obstacles, but whatever. Lay flat, grip the broom and hold on for dear life. He was soaked but victorious! Not too shabby.

His crimson gaze looked forward and there was only one obstacle in between him and the finish line. The dreaded devil's snare. He almost shuddered thinking of trying to fly through that mass of black, almost tentacle like vines that were hellbent on trying to strangle the life out of him. Howard thought the squid was bad, but at least the beast wouldn't actually try to suffocate him. He braced himself and reached for his wand. Remember your lessons...

BAM!

The spell hit him out of nowhere! "Ahh!" Howard was catapulted backwards as the banishing charm took full effect. End over end he spun in the opposite direction of the finish line and before he could get his bearings straight he was back in the freakin waterfall! Water went up his nose and into his eyes. Try as he might the young man would slip from his broom and splash into the water below. Alright, broom racing sucked!

They were at the last stretch of the race. Xailah could see the urgency from her comrades positioned much farther ahead; their energy vibrating across the track. Her aid for them would not get far; another spell fizzled into the horizon as she hunched forward, distributing her weight to Delta's front. Heaving a dense breath, she tried to realign her focus.

It wasn't long before she found herself with opponents on all sides. Including under broom. Before arriving to the large lake plot, the pantheress had tried to recon a way around it without going out of bounds, but it became rapidly clear that over was the only way through the obstacle. She knew what was hiding in that deceivingly still body of water, and she knew the damage It could do- even if It was playing gently. She had a less than pleasant run-in with the squid on a track once before, and while It had been nothing more than an annoyance then, current circumstances had her scanning the water with worry.

The grip she had on her wand made her knuckles crack under glove. Do not do it, friend, her mind pled, hastily scouring the water below as it began to churn with life. I do not want to hurt you, but I will if you leave me no other choice. Her worst spell rested under tongue, but it would not leave her mouth. A relieved sigh escaped instead, as four tentacles shot out of the water and grabbed at the surrounding racers. Thank you. Her grip on her wand relaxed. She'd take the trade of three if it meant her hand remained unforced; three captured for the freedom of two was a more than fair exchange.
