Graci waved back, "I'll probably be attending the ball, but if not just pretend I said hi anyway." She figured, with all the people there it would be a bit overwhelming, but with trying to find someone on top of that? No thank you.

It was sad to see him go, but that's how life goes. You meet someone and it's only a matter of time till they go, whether to be seen again or not. Graci only hoped she had more 'meet agains' than 'one and dones'. She kicked at the dirt a little before heading back inside after him. The knowledge that she most likely would never be back was comforting, this whole place felt wrong, like a place she should have never been in the first place. Meeting a great uncle who wanted nothing to do with her, but would humor his brother anyway.

It was a mystery to her why her Pappoús would want her to meet his family now, but not before. Or in general really. But she would be back home the following day, back in the bookstore with her parents and cats. What more could she ask for? Plenty of things, surely, but none needed or more comforting than the way home felt.

The sky was fully dark now, stars starting to hide behind growing thunderclouds. Graci sighed, going back into the boring, but safe, indoors with a hesitant step. She was loathe to leave the beautiful gardens, alas, she was tired and it had been an unreasonably long night regardless of the fun had.
