A new beginning
"That's so cool! Can I see?"
Leigh couldn't help a bright smile from showing up on his features when the other took interest in his drawings. His sketchbook that he had been concealing slightly was now back on his knees where it was before as he flipped through the pages to find his best drawing. He listened to Callan's reply, glancing towards him while he stopped on his griffin drawing. He turned the book to show him his griffin, while Callan started talking about Quidditch. His beast was recognizable but the lines a bit messy like a rough sketch, almost no colors present other than orange and browns as he took a lot of time trying to make a bunch of details with his pencil. He was still attentively listening to the other boy. He knew a bit of the rules and how it is played. Only, he never saw a Quidditch game before and didn't actively follow the games. He did get his hands on some articles his mother showed him, but that was it. He knew a bit from history books and old newspaper. "Your uncle does Quidditch? That's so cool that he said he'll teach you! I think I would be a bit scared to fly a broom with so much action going on, but it definitely looks awesome."
"Have you ever done it?"
Leigh shook his head no, for his own reasons too he sure did not fly on a broom before. "There's no brooms in London... Other than for sweeping. That, I did a lot. I was told not to show magic around.. Hum.. Muggles? That's what mom called the people in London and dad. It sounds funny. Makes me think of mooncalves whenever I hear it. Also sounds like a not too scary monster. Who would be scared of a monster with the name Muggle. Well, it's the kind of names they come up with for children books. The ones I grew up with that is." He looked at Callan and seemed to get lost in thoughts. He was trying to recall something but for a moment he had forgotten what it was. He spoke up after finding what he wanted to say, smile coming back to his face.
" Now that I think about it... My mom is from Scotland. Ah, no wonder I thought your accent is familiar. I must have heard it when I was smaller. Mom's accent sounds like everyone else in London now... Oh, I'm getting carried away, sorry."
Leigh faintly chuckled, a bit embarrassed for shooting that out of the blue. He was having fun talking with Callan and since that one was being friendly he felt at ease warming up to him. He could be quite chatty sometime, especially if it's about drawing, beasts and anything he can be a nerd about.

A new beginning
"Your uncle does Quidditch? That's so cool that he said he'll teach you! I think I would be a bit scared to fly a broom with so much action going on, but it definitely looks awesome."
Callan nodded eagerly – he was always excited to talk about Quidditch, and his family. “Ye, he's a chaser too, so he's scoaring goals and stuff! I hope I'll be as good as him eventually.” There weren't a lot of things Callan found scary at this point. He could be a little nervous, sure, but that had yet to stop him from doing anything. Still, his childhood had been safe so far. There wasn't really much to fear. And any prospect of speed and heights – the scot was all for it.
Listening attentively, Callan tilted his head slightly to the side as Leigh spoke of his home, London and Muggles. Chuckling a bit as the boy opposite him talked about the word itself. He had not really thought about it like that before, but agreed when he did. “It is a funny name! I got told about Muggles too,” Callan said, scratching his right ear. “Apparantly mom is one, and several other people in our clan. But they're all married to people who're not. So they all know the ..things. About magic and all. I haven't really been around many who doesn't.” Pausing to think for a second he raised a brow. “I think, at least.”

“She is? How cool!” Callan exclaimed with a grin. That made Leigh a bit scottish too, right? That was fun. “I really liked your drawing by the way!” he said, realizing he had been carried away a bit by the Quidditch talk. “You're really talented. I can hardly draw a stick figure,” Callan added with a grin. Outside trees were moving by. Bit by bit, they were getting closer now.

A new beginning
Leigh showed a wide smile when Callan said that he liked his drawing, going ahead to find his page where he sketched a few mooncalves to show him. Since he mentioned them along with his talk about muggles, he just had to show him. He was really happy that someone had showed interest seeing his drawings. Before speaking up again he presented to him his page with mooncalves drawings, some general information such as where to find them, sizes and appearance was scribbled in a box. Almost like a page of a picture book. "My dad is a muggle, well he learned about wizards and witches around the same time as me. My mom really likes muggles, at least I know she is curious about them. That's why I grew up around people who don't know about magic. It's no fun, they find everything weird and will laugh at those who believe in magic. I feel bad for my old classmate that was picked on because she believed in fairies. She might never know that they are real. Well she picked on me for being a 'weirdo', I don't get it. I wasn't doing anything to be called that. They didn't want to play with me, so I drew bugs during recess. There's nothing weird about having fun on your own. I just do like mom, I do research." Leigh nodded to himself with a faint chuckle, scratching the back of his head and smiling at the compliment.
"You're really talented. I can hardly draw a stick figure."
"Thanks.. I try. Beasts are easy to draw, but I can't do people well. I wanted to draw a wizard flying a broom once, yeah, that drawing didn't end well." Leigh grimaced and fiddled with the page of his sketchbook, glancing outside eyes brilliant as the scenery caught his attention. He rarely ever went out of the city if not at all, so now he was finally getting to see the beauty of the countryside. After a little while he switched to look outside of the cabin then he turned back to the other boy with a smile, putting aside his sketchbook and diving his hand into his pocket. It was faint, but since he was listening to everything around waiting for that moment he noticed some sounds close and confirmed with his eyes that a lady pushing a trolley full of snacks was heading their way next. "I think I have enough for a bag of the every flavor beans... I think that's what they're called... Want to share some?"
He looked back outside the cabin while holding the little amount of money he was given for the purpose of getting snacks on his way to Hogwarts, counting while waiting impatiently. Once the witch arrived with her trolley, smiling as she asked if they wanted to get anything for the ride. Leigh asked her shyly for a chocolate frog and candy beans, handing over his money and receiving the goods. Once the lady had left, after asking Callan too if he wanted anything and finishing any transaction left before moving to the next seats, Leigh examined the blue box in which a frog should be, well a chocolate frog. He was intrigued, moving it close to his ear and shaking faintly to see if he could hear it. Only the little thud of chocolate hitting the box was heard. "I don't think it's moving..." He frowned slightly, a look of deception crossing his face as he tried opening the lid. His mouth gaped open when the chocolate frog started moving, while he was getting over his surprised it had already leaped out and stuck itself against the window before leaping off on the other seat, his eyes following it with amazement. "Callan, did you see that? It jumped!" For a moment the shy boy was really animated, tossing aside the packaging and getting his sketchbook, quickly trying to find a pencil he stuffed in the spiral binding. He looked at the other boy, eyes bright with curiosity and smile shy. "Say, do you think you can hold it for me to sketch? It won't stop moving. I'll let you eat it if you do, please."
