Candyman Complete Main Story

Once returning home from a long and refreshing winter break a new, more widespread, holiday was on Adlai’s mind- Valentines Day.

Adlai had never really celebrated it before, and didn’t see it’s true meaning until recently since while in primary school she was forced to give everyone in her class a valentine, even the kids she didn’t like. However, now that she had more freedom she planned on giving her friends valentine’s.

While in the Courtyard she had begun to make a list of friends she may make these lovely gifts when she heard someone peculiar...
”Hey you...”
She whirls her head around and spots the boy the voice is coming from.
Yeah you.”
Putting her list to the side she cocks her head.
“May I help you?” She asks.
"I got one hell of a deal for you if you're willing to buy." says the man.
Intrigued Adlai nodded to him. The boy continued by opening his jacket and showing Adlai his rather odd collection of sweets.

Adlai’s mother had warned her plenty of times about the dangers of strangers who try to sell children candy only for them to be kidnapped. Still, Adlai didn’t budge yet continued to listen.

”Selling candy and cards in time for Valentines Day," he announced. "Something your (lady or man) love to enjoy as a treat to ensure that their heart is yours for but one day," he claimed.
Curious Adlai looked closer at the products. Then checked her coin purse that had been tucked away in the pocket of her ankle length skirt.

“How much for a Card?” She asked.
“Ten sickles.”
Now understanding the currency of the wizarding world Adlai was able to pull ten sickles out from her coin purse and slipped them into his hand.
In return she walked away with an idyllic card.

But alas, whom would she gift it to?

Preston was stuck in deep thought about Ruby. He was convinced that she’d never breathe near him again, and as Valentine's Day was coming up he felt incredibly angry that he had no significant other. Plotting love schemes as he was meandering through the courtyard, Preston heard a call, "Hey you."

Preston stopped walking, and turned his head toward the eerie voice. Seeing the rather suspicious figure resting on the column gave Preston a mild feeling of concern. Preston looked around to see if maybe it wasn’t he who had been called by this mysterious person, but then the voice confirmed his fear, "yeah you." Preston felt a chill go down his spine as he swallowed hard and walked over to the person.

The hairs on the back of his neck stood up as he pondered the possibility of getting hurt by this stranger. Could he run if he needed to? He certainly couldn’t fight back. One look at Preston and you’d notice that brawn was his shtick. As he got close enough to the stranger to feel his breath, Preston straightened his tie and cleared his throat.

"What do you want?"

"I got one hell of a deal for you if you're willing to buy." The boy opened his giant wool coat to reveal an assortment of candy that would look pleasing to anybody. Preston cocked an eyebrow, and relaxed. He wasn’t going to get hurt. Thank goodness. He exhaled and looked up at the boy's face. He smiled, "Selling candy and cards in time for Valentines Day. Something your your lady would love to enjoy as a treat to ensure that their heart is yours for but one day."

Preston instantly thought of Ruby, and without any hesitation handed out the money for a card. As the stranger placed it in his hands Preston smiled with a hint of malice. This was perfect, Ruby would fall right into his arms. Ladies love gifts. Ruby should be no different. He pocketed the card and walked off, ready to execute his master plan.
Candyman Complete Main Story
Dan was in a deep depression. Right after the Masquerade Ball, Oswald Vanington had left. He simply vanished. No one had seen him since Dan walked him back to Hufflepuff. He'd stolen Dan's first kiss at the ball, and then just left him without saying a word.

Never in his life had Dan felt such soul crushing sadness. He'd skipped a few classes recently (mostly history of magic and astronomy) because he couldn't keep up the facade any longer, and was just crying into his pillow. And it being February, the month of Love, made it that much worse.
He still didn't neglect his kitten, Loki, but the poor baby didn't know what to do to make his master feel better. Well, permanently at least. He always cheered up a bit when the baby rubbed against him, and when he was petting the kitty, but it never lasted.

Today, he was just wandering the castle aimlessly, barefooted as always, when he saw someone. He'd heard rumors going around that someone was selling.... 'particular' candy. Candy that made the eater fall in love with you.
Further down the line, Dan would look back on this and say that he was not thinking clearly, and just wanted to be happy again. So, he acted on impulse.

Dan walked up to the boy selling the candy, with only a single thought on his mind.

"I hear you sell a special kind of candy."

"I do indeed. What'r ya buyin'?"

The boys voice changed a bit during the second sentence for some reason, and Dan couldn't help but think it sounded somewhat familiar. But then, the boy opened his cloak. But instead of flashing him, like Dan thought he was doing at first, he gazed upon candy and cards.
He made up his mind instantly.

"I'll have a chocoball, please."

He handed the boy the sickle for it, and he received the chocoball. His devious Slytherin mind was already thinking of ways to get Andy to take it and eat it.
He had a tiny voice somewhere in his head saying that this would be a betrayal of trust, but Dan couldn't hear that voice. It was suppressed by far too much pain and heartache to be heard.
Even if for just a little while, Andy would be his boyfriend. He would be happy again, if just for a while.

Another day, another dollar. Well, in this case sickle. He was actually not even making a profit, they cost as much as the store bought ones oddly enough. Not that he cared greatly, he was the seller not the buyer and it was much easier to sell when there was an amazing deal to be had.

Word seemed to get around quick, apparently Vladimir was 'the dealer.'

After completing a transaction with a boy who was sorely in need of several chocoballs rather than just one, he was actively approached before he could even give his sales pitch by his second customer of the evening.

"Haw! I saw you 'ere sellin' some snashters. 'Ow much for the chocoballs?"

He could not understand a word the boy was saying, his eyes glazed over a bit until he heard the word chocoball.

"A sickle?"

He thought he understood the question as he retrieved a chocball from his open coat. The money was already out. Buying affection when it did not come naturally was a hot seller, an easy way to fill those lonely hearts in these cold months.

"Thanks, min."

The exchange was made, he was pretty sure that was a gracious platitude but he was not entirely certain. "I uh just want to warn you," he was not entirely sure the boy spoke the Queen's language but he would give it a shot at least. "Make certain that your intended has eyes on only you when they partake."

Did he understand that?

Well, maybe?

He was not entirely certain. But he was happy enough it would seem as he departed.

A pretty girl would make her way into the court yard. Oddly enough there were a few girls who had absolutely no need to buy these candies that made a purchase. It was strange but he did not put too much thought into it. Just because they could get almost anyone, did not mean that the one that they wanted was among the receptive lot he supposed. He could relate.

“It is not quite lucrative to be selling these sweets at the same price hogsmaede gives. Shouldn’t an entrepreneur like you be making a little profit? ”

He shook his head no. "I am just a seller, not a maker," he admitted with a charming smile. "But I am certain they have their reasons or perhaps this is a public service," he added as an after thought.

“Lemon sherbert.”

She made her order, it was a simple and somewhat cheap transaction. Coins in hand, he would make the exchange. "I am supposed to warn you that they will possess a voracious hunger once this treat has been imbued, so use with care." She could likely handle herself, but an overzealous lover, even if it was something she invited would be something he would regret immensely if he had later heard about it.

[Aurelia Out]

A gothic lass, or at least that was how he described her in his head would find her way in the courtyard. Someone who might need a bit of help around this time of the year. He called out, he gave her a sales pitch, he expected an unenthusiastic no but instead she asked the Ravenclaw to pick. He looked at his inventory, for whatever reason the sticky caramels were not selling like the chocoballs. He was not entirely certain regarding why, so he picked one. They were cheap enough, no need for him to get greedy after all as he offered her a caramel. "Sticky caramels apparently make your intended incredibly... intensively invested in your relationship," Vladimir warned. "So use with care."

He got a strange look in return, "the guy or girl whose heart?" Those golden eyes are a tad creepy, as was... Yeah. "Uh," he let out a nervous chuckle. "Have fun with it then?" There was an inflection of a question in his voice as he wished her luck. If she wanted to recreationally dose herself with a love potion that was her prerogative. He would however silently judge.

[Xailiah Out]

Adalai would make her way through the sparsely populated courtyard and into earshot of Vladimir's sales pitch. He would call out to her, give her a line about love and getting her way. It is something everyone wanted, even if some people were too arrogant to admit it. A card for ten sickles imbued with the sweet scent of something to love. "An interesting purchase, would not think a nice girl like you would need something like this," he handed her a sealed card. "But there is nothing wrong with a bit of insurance now is there?" He gave her a bit of a mischievous smile. "But I just need to make sure that you know, this item if used... works both ways." A cryptic statement, but at least she was warned. It would not matter much considering the purpose of the card in the first place one could suppose.

[Adalai Out]

Preston would accept the call to adventure love and approach the whispering youth waiting alongside a column in an incredibly cliche exchange of money for contraband good. The boy chose a card, "great call." The card will surely make everyone in that situation happy. He would exchange the sealed card for a few sickles, a steal of an exchange. "Before you go, I just need to warn you that this card's effect goes both ways." Whatever that meant, he just knew that the directions were incredibly important so he tried to remember to say it to each and every one as he made his sales.

[Preston Out]

Dan would find himself drawn by promises of a good deal and hopes of a good flashing. Sadly, Vladimir was a disappointment for Dan, there was no flashing to be had on this day as Vlad revealed his inventory of devious confectioneries. there were a number of options for the Slytherin to choose from, many sorts of love that he could choose to commit to. And he chose to not be cheap about it either as he picked a sweet treat, a Chocoball. He was going to be quite happy with the effectiveness of that one.

"Good choice," Vlad commended as he exchanged the coin for the treat. He did not know Dan's intentions, to manipulate the heart of someone in particular but he did not care. That would be exactly what he was going to do also once given the opportunity. "Just make sure that you are the first and only thing your intended sees when they enjoy this treat," the Ravenclaw warned. Otherwise it would be a waste of an experience and nobody wanted that.

[Dan out]

Going to debit all of the transactions momentarily. As said before, when used please contact me with a link to where it is used. I will message your rp mate regarding the specific effect of the candy in an owl or a DM.

Also, week warning. On Feb 14th, I am closing this store to do other things. I will submit additional reminders.

Finally, he is closing up shop for the day, but he starts fresh again tomorrow. So feel free to post as a fresh day in here.

Candyman Complete Main Story
Lunch had gone rather smoothly, no crazy shenanigans between James and Gem who appeared to be having some strange.. bad boy things going on between the two recently.. James had asked her to meet in the courtyard after their meal before speeding off after Gem. Although intrigued... Lark was also a bit worried as to why. Either way here she was.. finding herself wandering out into the fresh air. "They better not be trying to pull anythin'.." The young Ravenclaw crossed her arms over her chest and peered around the courtyard in case the partners in crime decided to scare the wits out of her. It didn't appear as if anyone else was really spending their time outside at the moment.. except.. A slight movement in the center of the yard caught her attention.

"Alright.. I see ya-" Lark started as she walked over to the figure but her voice was cut short as she set her gaze on an unfamiliar boy calling out to her. A quick once over the shoulder before she looked back at the mystery figure. "D..deal?" Lark tilted her head slightly and didn't dare go any closer. He didn't... seem all that... creepy... Not that Lark had much experience with random strangers out in the wilds of the world but this was Hogwarts, what could go wrong?

"W...wait! What do you mean??" Lark's eyes widened as the boy's fingers began to unbutton his coat. Oh.. this was... absolutely a typical Hogwarts situation. Regretting not carrying her wand on her, Lark winced a bit waiting for some sort of fireworks or creature to spring forth from the boy's unveiling and yet. Candy. Fewf, just some normal run of the mill, totally and completely safe candy. From a strange boy. Plus, he sounded like such the perfect salesman, something about his voice just made her feel she could trust the boy.

"Oh!" Lark took a step closer, her posture straightening back up and less defensive. "Oh wow! Are those chocoballs?" Her eyes glimmered hungrily. He must be selling these since many of them couldn't go to Hogsmeade. What a gentleman! 'Ensure that their heart is yours...' The words bounced around in the young Ravenclaw's mind. Lately boys had become a hard to decipher mystery of some sort. She knew magic was a pretty iffy thing to mess with but he seemed so genuine and this could be a good opportunity to give out a gift to him. Gosh, did those chocoballs seem to be calling her name...

"Right.. this is kind of you!" Lark grinned at the boy and dug into the leather bag hanging at her side. Pushing aside some notebooks and an extra quill, she felt around for some spare money that often was tossed aside on the bottom of her bag.

"Hmm.. just one then?" Digging a little deeper in her bag she tried to think of what best to buy. The card was rather lovely... though candy might be a better gift as she could draw a little something for him.. "I err well.. I suppose a chocoball then, please!" Finally procuring the money, Lark held the sickle out towards the boy. "Thanks for this." A smile spreading across her face, Lark already was thinking of ways to dress up the candy in a present before giving it to the intended victim-er friend.

Candyman Complete Main Story
There come times in a young man's life when he learns a lesson. When he is knocked down, defeated and broken, only to get up, dust himself off, and not make the same mistake again. Galton wouldn't be doing that. No, because he wasn't repeating the same mistake. This was completely different. This one was charging money for it! And, it was pretty much the same price as if he had to sneak to Hogsmead for it. It was just so convenient.

And so, the small candy-addicted boy would need to purchase a piece. It saved him time, and would cost him the same amount, it was perfect. He marched himself down and out of the castle to the shady man. He let the student list off the normal spiel he gave all the others, not knowing Galton was an experience candy buyer. He wanted a Chocoball, they were the best. The others were just too small and too short-lived. You couldn't go wrong with a chocoball.

"One chocoball." He handed over the money eyeing the goods. He wanted more than one, it was just unfair that he couldn't get more than one. "You should sell more than one, it's just cruel." He eyed the boy, jealous of his candy.

Arlo’s little belly jiggled as he hopped down the steps from the castle doors into the courtyard. Well, it used to be little anyways. Some might say he was suffering from the ‘freshmen 15’. Hard to blame him really. What else was a young boy supposed to do when dinner was served buffet style every evening? It’s hard to resist seconds when every time you grab the last bread roll, the basket magically refills. In fact, that was exactly the reason why he sought out the courtyard in the first place. The steak and mushroom stew had been particularly satisfying that evening, but it was also quite filling. Nothing like an evening stroll before curfew to kickstart digestion.

“Hey you.”

Arlo’s eyes drifted in the direction of the voice as he saw a taller boy with light colored hair. He blinked slowly a few times as a silly little smile splashed across his face. Wasn’t everyday that someone called you out specifically. He turned his head from side to side as he peered over each shoulder before he pointed to his chest and mouthed the words, “Who me?”.

“Yeah you.” He confirmed.

The boys little legs moved in a flurry as he scurried his way over. “Hello! Can I help you with something?” Arlo asked as he gazed up at the other with his large golden eyes. His expression shifted from curiosity to excitement as the other boy told him about a deal of a lifetime. However, his attention would shatter as soon as the coat opened to reveal its treasures. A few words slipped through. Something about Valentines Day and treats for another. Pfft, the eleven year old could care less. All he could think of was fulfilling his sweet tooth as he rummaged some bronze out of his coin purse.

“One of the sticky caramels please!” Arlo would stuff the candy into his pocket and leave with a wave. “Thank you!”

Normally Quinn would have been walking through the courtyard per usual. Casually looking around as relaxed as could be. He always observed there was so much to see, so much to hear, so much to notice. It was fascinating to him. However, today he was passing through the courtyard for a completely different set of reasons. He was on a mission and he had a part to play. Looking around he heard himself being beckoned and cracked a very quick smile. Genuine curiosity grabbed him so he just ran with it. It made this much easier then trying to awkwardly pretend.

'Aaaaah he's workin the game pretty well. Reminds me of Dublin.' He thought internally laughing to himself. When all his options were laid about for him the faintest of blushes would cast itself around his cheek. No wait focus Quinn, remember the other reason you were passing through here today. Don't forget your goal and remember which candy you're getting ya big oaf! Sighing to himself, "Aye give me the Sherbert Lemon then." Handing the boy the appropriate amount Quinn pocketed his candy. He then left quite happy with his purchase and looking forward to the curiosity it would satisfy.

@Lark Flaer would be one of his first customers for the evening. She was one of those girls that really did not need chocolate to help her find love, but like many people she was stacking the deck in her favor this Valentines Day it would seem.

She wanted a chocoball.

Easy enough. She would fetch the coin necessary. "Good enough," Vlad smiled as he relinquished his chocoball in exchange for the single piece of candy. "Just make sure you are what he... or she" he was trying to be inclusive "are looking at when they consume the chocball."

A simple direction and a simple warning. Make sure you are all they see and their heart would be hers for the day.

[Lake Left]

He would see a familiar face after the girl left. The smallish boy with a round face and incredibly large eyes. He was interested in purchasing candy. "Shouldn't you have had your fill?" He asked @Galton Lansdale.

A chocoball was what he ordered. A delicious, chocolaty confectionery. He complained about the fact that he only sold them one at a time. Well, there was a good reason for that, the reason was standing in front of them. With a sardonic expression on his face, Vlad would answer him simply. "Can't trust customers to eat just one.

A problem with madmen like Galton. Still, there was the one-per-customer rule, so Galton was entitled to one. One chocball for a coin. "Just the one man, give it to someone you like." It was a lost cause and he knew it. No need for the disclaimer in his his.

[Galton Out]

@Arlo Reynolds was one of his last customers of the day. Some happy boy that seemed too small and too young to be a Hogwarts student. It seemed almost cruel but he had a quota to consider if he wanted his. Just like them, there was someone that he wanted.

A sticky caramel.

They were not as big of a seller as the chocoballs and the cards. Of course they also came with a disclaimer. With the exchange of candy and coin, the transaction was complete. Vlad's instruction for the youth simple -- "take care of the attachments some might have. Envy is not always green."

Even a little guy deserves to get the... uh midget once in awhile.

[Arlo Out]

His last customer of the day was everything that Arlo was not. Where Arlo was tiny, this guy was huge. He would look over the massive ginger, thinking twice before he gave his sales pitch. He felt bad for whatever sort of passion he wanted, they were going to likely be crushed over the course of their rendezvous.

It was the giant @Quinn Healy, a famed Hufflepuff known primarily for his size and his status as a Prefect and co-captain of the Quidditch Team. "You... probably don't need this," Vlad would mention as he managed the transaction. Sherbet lemon it was. "Just a quick disclaimer --" the Ravenclaw would warn as he relinquished the sweet. "They will want you to be incredibly close to you..."

Vlad had no way of knowing Quinn's plan. Knowing the project he was a part of. The fact that he was squandering his opportunity to get whoever he wanted for a day would be something he would possibly later regret. Just not until he figured out what he missed.

There he was, in the middle of the courtyard Jorah saw the student who was distributing sweets in Hogwarts. Jorah didn't recognize him at all. Who was he? The stranger's attire just made him more suspicious. He wore a long dark coat with the collar turned up. Jorah watched as the seller called various passing students over to him. The seller would then open his coat and make an exchange of hands. Why the secrecy?, Jorah wondered. Why not just announce the candy sale in Great Hall? Surely, he would get more customers there. Something just didn't feel right about this guy, but Jorah needed to get his hands on one of those candies.

Jorah waited for the last buyer to clear the courtyard and round the corner before he made himself visible. He walked across the grassy courtyard and up to the mysterious seller. "Um, hello," Jorah greeted the stranger. "I heard you were selling"...he said in a whisper..."candy. May I buy one, please? I like caramel. You wouldn't happen to have any caramel would you?" Jorah discreetly showed the seller that in his right hand rested a Sickle and a few Knuts. He studied the stranger's face. Who are you?
