Still being full from the food she ate in the Great Hall, Sage decided to explore the castle, and she needed to if she were to get to her classes on time. Poking her head inside the Library, thinking it was a room she probably wasn't supposed to snoop in, she looked around and saw other kids in there. Letting out a sigh of relief she widened the door a bit more and walked in. With the bag, her mother had given her before she left, she looked around and pulled out her sketchbook. She wanted to draw some of the shelves and watched in amazement as she watched kids put their books away and watched the book slid up the shelf and go into his proper place. Now she was eager to get to draw.

She found a place to sit and began sketching the shelves themselves, then the books and even added a few touches of her own such as a window and a few books that were sliding up to their proper places. Within the hour she was done, it wasn't perfect but it was detailed and neat. She closed her book and put it back in the bag, almost forgetting other people were in the library. Sage couldn't help but laugh at herself softly, thinking of how weird it was, to see a redhead lost in her own world of sketching and looking at the scene and then back down at the paper again and drew. Hearing some people talking she didn't know what to do, so she just sat there and if the person(s) acknowledged her and waved she would happily smile and wave back, maybe talk if they wanted to talk.

Ari's eyes scanned the bookshelves, her hand hesitantly hovering over the millions of books before her. In an attempt to understand why she was sorted into her house, she'd decided to go to the library for answers. How unlike a Slytherin, her father would have said.

Ari looked up to see a peculiar redhead gazing in her direction, and she instantly felt a sense of hesitation wash over her. She looked down at the book in her hands on the history of Slytherin, and looked back up at the redhead. She noticed the blue tie and the Ravenclaw emblem embroidered on her robes, and looked back down at her own green and silver tie. She slid the book back in its place.

She took a deep breath, banishing all her worries about being rejected because she was a Slytherin. She boldly walked up to the redhead and stuck out her hand, trying to exude the brilliant Slytherin confidence she'd heard so much about from her father.

"Hello, I'm Ari," Ari introduced herself, hoping the redhead wouldn't notice her hand shaking as she held it in front of her. Her eyes flickered down to the sketchbook the Ravenclaw had open before her, and she felt the corners of her mouth begin to twitch up in a smile. The likeliness was uncanny, and it was clear to her that the girl was very talented. "I like your drawings. They're very good, you know."

Sage had looked away when the girl walked over to her, but when she heard a voice speaking to her since it was so close, she looked up at saw her there, in front of her with her hand held out. She did notice the girl shaking but this was her chance to prove she was a nice person. It was then she realized that the girl was a Slytherin. She was never one to judge but from what she had read on Slytherins hadn't been all good. None the less, Sage was kind to everyone.

She stood up with a smile and took the girls shaking hand, pretending not to notice that her hand was shaking and shook it with her own. "Hello, I'm Ari" she heard the girl say.

"I'm Sage! A pleasure to meet you, Ari" she said with an Irish and British accent. "I like your drawings. They're very good, you know."

Then she looked down at her sketchbook "oh! Thank you! It's just something I do in my free time" she said and went silent before she started talking too much. Anyone nearby or even Ari would be able to tell she was nervous, it was mainly because she had social anxiety, not because she was a Slytherin. This Slytherin seemed friendly enough, so Sage decided to at least give her a chance. In fact, she was quite excited, Ari being the first student she ever spoke to. She hoped that they could be friends.

Ari shook back as the girl replied. "I'm Sage! A pleasure to meet you, Ari" She gave a small nod of acknowledgement.

""oh! Thank you! It's just something I do in my free time" Sage responded. Ari snuck another quick glance at her drawings, still mesmerized by the likeliness.

She smiled and hastily pulled her hand away, mentally kicking herself for being awkward. In an attempt to make conversation, she let her eyes wander around the library before speaking. "So how are you liking Hogwarts? Is it anything like your parents had told you? My father told me great stories about when he attended Hogwarts and I really hope it lives up to my expectations." She laughed under her breath in an attempt to keep the conversation going.

Ari silently thanked Sage for not avoiding her gaze as the other students at Hogwarts did upon seeing her green and silver tie. She felt a small lump rise in her throat as she remembered the small amounts of applause from the students as she'd gotten sorted into Slytherin, like her father had, compared to the large amounts of applause the Gryffindors had received. Wearing the Slytherin-adorned robes had made her self conscious while walking throughout the halls, and she hoped that this Ravenclaw would be the first non-Slytherin student who'd become her friend.

"So how are you liking Hogwarts? Is it anything like your parents had told you?" She heard Ari ask her and this is where she felt things were going to go downhill, she didn't want to lie but she knew that Slytherins weren't very fond of Muggle-borns. Ari was going to find out one way or another and she wasn't ashamed of her blood.

Sage let out a nervous laugh as she looked at her "well, my parents didn't go to Hogwarts because they are Muggles." She said, completely scared of what Ari would say. If her father didn't like Muggle-born witches or wizards, then Ari probably most certainly didn't like them either. She began to shake as she looked at Ari with complete fear, hoping that she wouldn't insult her and walk away, ruining any chance of them becoming friends. Ari seemed nice so far and she hoped that Ari wouldn't make her point on Slytherins. Even though she read about them, she had been proven wrong on things and theories before.

Sage tried to control her fear and shaking, hoping the girl in front of her wouldn't notice her shaking so bad, or anybody nearby. She really wanted to be friends with Ari, but of course, if she didn't want to then Sage couldn't force her to be her friend.

"well, my parents didn't go to Hogwarts because they are Muggles."

Ari blinked in surprise as she heard the words fly out of Sage's mouth. She noted her seemingly scared demeanor, and she swallowed the lump slowly arising in her throat. A wave of relief washed over her to find a Muggleborn, someone who could possibly relate to her half-blood past.

She looked around and lowered her voice, looking around hastily for fellow Slytherins that might hear her. "You know, my mother's a Muggle too." She smiled a little nervously. "I'm a half-blood. My father's a pure-blood, so he was really the only one that attended Hogwarts."

Ari wanted to tell Sage she wasn't like the other Slytherins, that she wasn't stuck-up about blood levels at all. She didn't prefer the stereotypes that came with her House, and she certainly didn't want to live up to them. She hoped Sage would understand and perhaps open up to her, seeing as they were both of Muggle descent.

She suddenly felt a rush of shame overwhelm her as she remembered the legacy left by the Slytherins as she watched Sage tremble before her. It definitely wasn't a good feeling.

"You don't need to be scared," Ari said quickly. "I'm not like the other Slytherins. As I mentioned, I-I'm a half-blood. It's nice to have a witch that's not a pure-blood around. I wouldn't be opposed to being friends, you know."

Sage was surprised to hear these words come from her. She thought that all Slytherins were Pure-bloods and didn't want any muggle bloodline in the magical world. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed. I-I would like to be friends" she smiled and her shaking decreased. She wanted to hug her and tell her she was sorry for ever thinking such thoughts. "I guess you can say that I'm surprised, I usually always thought the worst after reading a background history on Slytherin house. I'm sorry I misjudged you, I shouldn't have. Please forgive me for that. Being a muggle and learning you have some sort of magical blood in you makes you feel a bit different, or ashamed. Like you stand out from everyone else, so when I read about Slytherins I just didn't know what to think. But I'm glad you proved me wrong Ari." She smiled and her shaking stopped.

She sat down and pulled out a chair for Ari "if you want we can sit and chat for a bit, get to know each other. So do you like it here at Hogwarts? You said your dad talked to you about it, is it everything like you've ever dreamed? Because for me, it's everything I didn't know existed." She said shyly as she looked at her.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed. I-I would like to be friends"

Ari smiled at this and breathed an internal sigh of relief as Sage continued to talk. Finally, a friend! She was starting to believe she wouldn't find any friends at Hogwarts, and that she'd have to spend her next seven years alone.

She nodded and suddenly found herself agreeing with everything Sage was saying, even though she couldn't entirely relate, with her being a half-blood. "It's okay," she said honestly. "If I'm being honest, I'm not too sold on being a Slytherin myself either. But I hope it'll grow on me."

As Sage pulled out a chair for her, Ari gratefully sat down to answer her questions. "My father did mention how he used to play pranks on unsuspecting first years," she laughed nervously. "He also talked about having the time of his life here, making lifelong friends. So far, I-I really haven't met anyone in my House that's been that nice to me. I guess the Muggleborn thing never really faded out, even after the Battle of Hogwarts. Or maybe some people are just jerks. I really can't wait to start classes. I'm excited for Defense Against the Dark Arts, e-even though that's probably a Gryffindor dominated class. Sorry, I'm rambling. What about you? How do you like it so far?"

"Sorry, I'm rambling. What about you? How do you like it so far?" Ari said and Sage smiled. She liked to listen to people ramble, it was fun to get to know them more even when they didn't realize it.

Sage sighed slightly "I ramble too, don't worry. I love it here, everything seems like a dream, I never knew a place like this existed until my birthday. I mean who knew?" She giggled softly as she looked at Ari with her blue eyes and soft smile before looking away. "So what do you like to do for fun? You already know I like to draw. I also play the violin a bit. Do you play any instruments? Or do you have a favorite kind?" Sage blushed a bit "sorry, it's not every day I make a new friend, so I want to get to know them." She smiled at her, hoping she didn't scare her.

"I don't know what year we do the class on Care of Magical Creatures, but I'm looking forward to that class in the future, I hope one day I can own a different and magical creature." She said and thought about all the different kinds of magical creatures she could own, but yet she still had so much to see.

Ari blushed as her eyes met with Sage's, and she tilted her head. "I didn't know about this place until I was nine years old. It was my first experience with magic, and that was when my dad told me everything. My mum hadn't expected me to be a witch, so that was a bit of a shock for her as well as me." She laughed quietly.

Ari's eyebrows flew up in surprise when Sage had mentioned the violin. "I play the violin as well as the piano, for about eight years total." She smiled, biting her lip while trying to think of what she did for fun. "I like writing and calligraphy. I've really never been a fan of Potions, to be honest, even though the Head of Slytherin teaches it."

She wanted to tell Sage how she wasn't really a fan of Slytherin, but in order to appear like she wasn't ungrateful (which she wasn't), she quickly described how she was looking forward to being a part of Slytherin House. Ari knew it'd grow on her over time, like her dad had always said it would. Right?

"Did you have any muggle friends before coming to Hogwarts?' Ari asked curiously, changing the subject. Even though she did have very few muggle friends herself, she wondered how they'd react to her and Sage's sudden disappearance.
