Valentine's Tea
Even though she tried to avoid looking at the cat, she still could see him out of the corner of her eyes. He was scornfully looking at her, she was sure of it. Why did she have to choose this particular table?
She focused on the girl. She looked confused. Violine told herself that she should be more careful with her lies. This one had just slipped through her lips.
“Well which one is it? Eliza, or Violine? Or perhaps it is both?”
Violine got a grip of herself. She had to think of something, quick. Yet, how could one explain that they had given the wrong name? This one was hard. She just had to pray that the girl would buy it and wouldn’t ask any more questions.
“It’s, uh, it’s Violine. Sorry, I tend to get nervous when there are so many people around…”
This wasn’t true, of course, even though more and more people kept entering the room. But she was actually really nervous. She liked to think it was only because of the cat… But something about the girl also made her uncomfortable, though she wasn’t able to put her finger on it.
She tried to breathe normally, but the weight on her chest was getting heavier. A bit like this night, in September, when she had been unable to get up, to breathe, to even move her fingers. If she had known this Tea Party would have been such a trial, she would have… Well, she maybe would have had a better look at the table, before sitting down without thinking.
“I am Xailah Alptraum. This is Schrödinger.”
Violine nodded but only glanced at the cat, Schrödinger. Xailah would probably think she was being rude. Yet, she knew if she looked at the cat, she would instantly die of fear. And what was she supposed to do, anyway? Say “hello” to him? Wave?
“Will you be here long? If so, could I interest you in a cup of tea?”
Xailah’s face had somewhat softened, it seemed. Could she see she was terrified of her cat? *Please, this is turning into an obsession. Just ignore him.* She slightly shifted away from the animal, hoping the other girl wouldn’t notice.
“Oh, uh, I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know if I’ll stay long. I mean, my friends…” she answered.
*Lying to yourself now?* She didn’t really have friends. And she was currently turning into an awkward blob, which wasn’t her usual self. In truth, she was getting tired of this constant pressure on her chest.
“I mean, of course, I would be happy to have a cup of tea, with great pleasure!” she added, sounding more natural. “Anyway, what do you think of this event? I came to get some points… To be honest, I wasn’t prepared to see so much pink. It hurts my eyes. But you know, I thought maybe there would be some drama or something.”
At this exact moment, she heard someone scream. She quickly spotted a Gryffindor girl she had had an errand with, Evelynn. Her hair was dripping. Tea? That wasn’t really the kind of drama she had imagined and the incident didn’t put a smile on her face.
“Well, that’s clearly not the drama I expected…” she said, worried for the wounded girl.
Should she do something? She barely knew the girl. An older girl she didn’t know came to Evelynn’s rescue and asked Xailah for help. Violine felt a little sad, as she was a bit intrigued by the Gryffindor she had started talking with, but Evelynn’s case was clearly more urgent. At least, it would mean that she would be rid of the cat.
As she didn't know what she could do, she decided not to interfere. There were already enough people surrounding Evelynn and she wouldn't have been very helpful. The older students would be of more help than her.

Valentine's Tea
Open for interactions
Andrew sat on one of the cushy pink chairs, at an empty table, but didn't feel at all anxious or out of place by eating on his lonesome. He popped a finger sandwich into his mouth and took a few sips of his iced tea, eyes wandering around the Hall as he began people-watching and observing the scenery, partially deep in his own thought, wondering how his family would be celebrating the holiday at home in London. He had received a few early Valentine's cards from them, and his sister Stacy had sent him a box of sugar cookies, cut into hearts and teddy bear shapes and decorated with hues of white, pink, and red icing. Andrew had shared some of the baked goods with his friends, including his best pal and bunkmate, @Dan Palmer. He wondered if Dan would be showing up to the tea party at all, but if not, Andrew would be sure to swipe a few scones to-go as a party favor for Dan to munch on.
"AEEEEEHHH!"
Andrew stiffened in alarm, frozen mid-chew. Eyes widening in bewilderment, he snapped his head around towards the source of the startled scream. What in the world…?
From where he sat, he saw another girl [@Evelynn Decipio] with auburn hair, appearing to be in pain and shock. Her hair was slightly damp, and Andrew was fairly certain that she hadn't just stepped out of the shower. Judging from the girl's expression and the reactions of those around who came to assist her, apparently someone had poured something liquid on the girl's head. . . But why?
Remembering his mouthful, Andrew cautiously chewed on his sandwich while keeping an eye pasted on the scene, watching it all unfold. Hopefully things weren't about to escalate…

Valentine's Tea
The girl next to him had hurt her knee...and Jake looked on with concern. Had that been his fault...? Before he could ask if she was ok, her eyes fell upon him, and that made his mouth stay shut. He shrunk in his seat as a soft smile made its way onto her face. She didn't LOOK very mean...though something in her pale skin was strange and confusing. Could she have been what he thought she was? Jake had seen dhampirs - there was even a dhampir professor - though had never talked to them. He knew that they were just people like anybody else, but he couldn't help but feel nervous at such an unfamiliar sight.Interacting with @Nico Shymane and @Quinn Healy
As her eyes fell upon his stuffed dog though, Jake forgot all else. The small Puff blushed, wanting to sink into the floor or maybe hide under the table. Would anybody notice if he did...? But to his surprise instead of laughing or calling him a name, she said she liked him. Even asked what his name was.
Jake swallowed. "F-Freddie..." he murmured, wiggling in his seat uncomfortably. And then, scarcely believing he was doing it, he moved his arms a bit so that the girl could get a better look. He held Freddie low - under table level - so that only she could see. "Um...His name is Freddie..."
Jake remembered the old followup that he had used to give when introducing the dog when he was little - 'and he's my best friend'. He had said that until he was ten, since he would bring Freddie most everywhere. Now, Jake was eleven, and he realized how silly that sounded to other people, and more importantly, it wasn't quite true anymore. Jake had made REAL friends...since arriving at school. (Though of course, Freddie would always be his friend) Just then, a very large figure began to approach, and Jake tried to cover Freddie up in his arms again but was unable to do so before he was seen.
But when the large boy approached, Jake recognized who it was. A fellow Hufflepuff. He nodded his head when the giant boy asked his name. "Uh-huh...A-and...um...a-and you're Quinn," he said. He knew Quinn well - though he often thought of him as Giant Badger. How could you not recognize somebody that was so tall they were practically giant? He was TWICE Jake's size it seemed like - though probably Quinn had seen Jake less than Jake had seen Quinn. Jake had used to hide as soon as the giant badger was coming, frightened of the giant prefect, but since then he had learned that Quinn was actually warm and friendly.
"Th-Thank you," Jake said shyly as Quinn complimented Freddie too, but it still didn't help Jake from wanting to hide him. Jake blinked, confused. How come everybody was saying they liked him? He had been sure he was going to get bullied. He had never seen another kid carrying one even if he knew they were out there. Was it really ok after all...? Jake's eyes flickered around the room hesitantly.

Valentine's Tea
Ruka told the boy, that the tea was fine but he was suspicious about the pastries. Opeila chuckled. "Shall we speak louder? Spread some paranoia? Also, some potions take some time to work. So right now, you only think, that you are fine.", she said with a mischievous grin. What was it about this event, that got her to actually enjoy it now?
Then Ruka asked her, what made her think that people would bring their dates here. This place didn't look romantic at all.
"Actually, I don't think that.", she said. "It is just so funny to watch people's reactions, when I ask them. So don't be so embarassed, I am just teasing.", she said to the boy, who introduced himself as Alan.
"And staying away from the biscuits might be a good id- Jesus!"
A scream from one of the tables made Opeila jump off her seat. When she turned around, to see what, or who had caused this, she saw Persephone Barret, the little Slytherin princess from the lake, who apparently had just poured a cup of hot tea over the head of a red-haired girl. Immediately Opeila had an image in her head. Her Dad, covered in burns after an accident in the kitchen, where a huge pot of soup fell on top of him.
"Excuse me.", she said quickly and walked over to the table, where the accident happened.
"Barret!", she heard a familiar voice. "What is the matter with you? That was completely uncalled for!"
She hadn't recognized Burnett there, but that didn't matter right now. The girl had to put cold water on those burns at once. She remembered, what her father told her, when he had come back from a first aid course, highly motivated. Even when the hot object is removed, inside it keeps burning. And that didn't look pretty. Before she could reach the table, the Gryffindor girl ran off. Well, maybe that was a good thing, Opeila just hoped, the girl would cool those burns. If she imagined what could have happened, if the tea went in her eyes... On second thoughts, maybe it did. The Slytherin didn't know.
Instead she grabbed Persephone's shoulder and turned her around. "Are you out of your mind?", she hissed at her housemate. Opeila wasn't a person who liked to swear, but right now she really had to control herself. "What was that about? Are you that eager to get Slytherin a bad reputation?"
Nothing was left of the teasing, joking girl from a few minutes ago. Opeila was furious.

Valentine's Tea

Generally speaking, Cormac's knowledge on muggle traditions was limited. There were certain celebrations of theirs, however, that he was reasonably familiar with. He had heard about Valentine's Day before, for instance; seen the shops fill up with heart-shaped chocolates and pink postcards around that time of the year. He hadn't expected Hogwarts to make such a fuss out of it, though.
Professor Bercegeay had really put some effort into letting everybody know about the tea party she'd be holding in celebration of the holiday. Posters announcing it had covered the castle's walls and she'd made sure to slip in two or three or ten reminders of the event in every single flying lesson for the past week. It hadn't taken much convincing in Cormac's case, as he would have welcomed absolutely any excuse to avoid writing the many parchments that had somewhat piled up on his desk and now formed a quite intimidating mountain of work.
Because he wasn't sure whether tea parties implied a specific dress code, he had simply decided they did not and had headed towards the Small Hall wearing his uniform robes. The moment he arrived, he discovered there probably actually was some sort of dress code. A bunch of girls and boys, some looking smarter than he'd ever seen them, were already in there, chatting and sipping tea. He recognised a couple of familiar faces in the crowd. He saw John Wolfe, the kid he'd met at the train on the very first day of school, standing on his own; Astrea, the girl from the Hospital Wing, was also there, talking to an older student. He thought he'd approach and say hello to them, maybe later.
Truth be told, the whole current atmosphere didn't really match what he believed one would expect from a Valentine's party. It kind of just looked like a regular social gathering being held on the inside of a bubble gum. Nobody was publicly confessing their eternal love to their special one and that was a bit of a let-down, honestly. He was fully aware of their young age, but he thought that they could perhaps act it out a little, just for the sake of the party's raison d'être.
He had no intention to break the ice himself by confessing his pretend-love to someone, that was for sure. But he could pull out a smaller, nice gesture. As much as he enjoyed joking and goofing around, Cormac could be a true gentleman sometimes, if so he desired.
He fetched a cup and filled it up with one of the many tea flavours on display, not actually minding the name tag attached to the bowl in question. Then, he proceeded to turn around and offered the drink to the first girl he set his eyes on.
"I got you tea, mademoiselle," he said, slurring out the french term in a barely understandable accent. "Don't know what sort of tea I got, though, didn't look at the label. So, it's going to have to be a surprise."

Ruka snorted ungracefully at Opeila‘s suggestion of spreading paranoia about the tea and biscuits, and he waved his hand dismissively. „God, no, if anything actually is spiked people might start to think that we did it,“ he pointed out with a chuckle before turning his attention back to the Gryffindor boy who had agreed to avoid the biscuits - at least for now - while nibbling on his lip.
The boy seemed nervous, still, probably from being surrounded by two complete strangers while sitting on horribly pink furniture and being warned about edibles laced with love potion.
Ruka really couldn‘t blame him, so he did his best to make the other boy feel better with encouraging smiles and not too much scrutinising eye contact.
„Good to meet you, Alan,“ he said brightly, leaning forward a little to keep from being swallowed whole by the cushions in his armchair. „What year a-“
He was about to ask the other Gryffindor which year he was in, since Ruka didn‘t think he‘d ever seen him in any of his own classes, but before he could, Opeila was out of her seat with more rage than he‘d thought possible coming from such a lithe form.
„Uh, Opeila?“ he called after her in confusion, letting his eye drift across the crowd until he found the source of Opeila‘s outrage; There was a girl, drenched in what he assumed to be boiling hot tea, clearly trying to make her way out of the Small Hall, probably to get her burns checked out and her clothes changed, a weird guy wearing a fedora and glasses indoors seemingly taken aback by what had just happened, and another girl who was clearly responsible for the mess, judging by the fact that she seemed to be the target of Opeila‘s wrath.
„Well,“ he said slowly, confused expression on his face as he turned back to Alan to see if the other boy was just as dumbfounded as him. „I guess Opeila found someone more interesting than us.“ He chuckled, shrugging his shoulders lightly.
Part of him wanted to go after the Slytherin girl, maybe make sure she wasn‘t going to skin that other girl alive or something like that, but looking at Alan he felt bad just thinking of abandoning him at that table he‘d only just been invited to, so he stayed put, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.
„Sorry about that, she‘s not... well I don‘t know if she‘s usually like that, I don‘t know her that well either,“ he said, laughing lightly. „But she‘s good company when she‘s not yelling at people, I swear.“

Immediately after the main event unfolded, time whirled to a near halt, everything and everyone moving lethargically as if for the blonde to admire the details of the chaos she had unleashed with one miniscule cup of tea. The girl with the auburn hair had screamed, her voice like daggers piercing the romantic atmosphere of the hall, but Persephone’s smile did not dare flicker. Though time ran slow, allowing her to cherish the seconds of madness, outsiders had interrupted at a normal pace, tearing Persy away from her moment of appreciation.
Her white hands, scratched mildly from the glassware, trembled against her will while she placed the napkin on the table, aware that her victim would likely not be accepting it. Why would she? It could be easily assumed that this girl was in intense emotional distress, but Persephone could not commiserate. Emotions were a phenomenon to Persy, something she admittedly struggled to understand. They blurred together, a gradient of different sensations that were slowly morphing into the same color. Perhaps, she thought, this was how it was meant to be. Persephone would continue to live her life ignorant to her own motives, doing whatever she wants because she does it all the time.
But of course, she had a reason. A very good one at that, she believed wholeheartedly. Her body continued reacting to the stimuli in ways she was unsure of, such as the quick rise and fall of her chest. Throughout her entire flesh, there was a scorching heat, started by the ignition in her stomach that made steam rise. A ringing, so piercing that blood would surely pour out, had made its home in her ears; multiple voices, blending seamlessly into one, criticized her, scolded her for doing what was necessary. This noise, although deafening, was stopped sharply when her peripheral vision caught sight of her fleeing victim.
Against all the odds, and Persy’s own better instinct, her lingering smile widened as she bit her lip in pleasure. Very rarely were her actions primarily to hurt someone, and today was no exception, but she didn’t deny the joy it gave her to know that she had caused something. Persephone’s wrong-doings and ulterior motives had gotten a reaction. The mayhem of the vicinity was hypnotizing, and the result of a simple tea cup. That, aside from the sheer accomplishment of her personal goal, was undoubtedly the best part, greeting her with an overwhelming exuberance.
This charmed spirit was not going to dim because of the shadow cast upon it by one Opelia Seilun. The moment the brunette’s hand was set on her shoulder, Persephone turned quickly on her heel, stamping hard on the girl’s foot. Not only had the hiss of her voice killed the rather cheerful mood of the blonde, but the nerve of her! To touch Persephone! Sure, she tried to agree, this situation looked like a bad sitcom, and the Slytherin herself was under a spotlight of selfishness, Opelia did not know her side! Biased much. Shoving this thought away in hopes of returning to her state of happiness, her serpent colored eyes scanned the surroundings, primarily her peers.
Opelia had not been the only bystander to rush to the scene, accompanied by a third year Gryffindor and an innocent-looking Jack Burnett. The third year eyed Persephone with a special maliciousness that only expanded her grin. The detention that was likely on its way in the form of a prefect did not intimidate Persy, as it was merely a consequence for an endeavor she had to partake in. For an ephemeral instant, the Slytherin considered explaining herself, justifying what looked like a cruel deed. By the tone of Jack’s scolding from before, however, and the look in the lion’s eyes, she stayed silent, biting the inside of her cheek once again.
Instead of an explanation, Persephone offered something a little more snarky.
With no conveyed emotion, the smile faded away, she said: “I tried to give her a napkin.”

Valentine's Tea
Atlas had barely settled into her dorm room when she got word of a Tea Party going on not too far from the Hufflepuff Common Room. She hadn't even met her roommates yet or anyone for that matter because her first few hours at Hogwarts had been a blur of sorting, eating and following the herds of other first-years to our designated areas.Open To Interactions
Part of her wanted to collapse onto her bed or tiptoe around the school seeing which unsuspecting student she could pull pranks on but the little voice in the back of her head told her that if she got detention on her first day here, her parents would be less than impressed. Well maybe her Dad would find it funny but she thought best not to wait and see.
Letting out a sigh, Atlas rolled off her bed, fixing her hair in the stand-up mirror in the corner before making a weird face and heading off to the tea party. Everything in the room was pink and red and fuzzy and there were already quite a few students milling about as they all became more acquainted with one another. Atlas had never been a shy type but she really didn't know where to begin. Seeing a plethora of teas on a red table, Atlas slowly walked over eyeing up the plethora of flavors and smells.
Listening carefully to the conversations surrounding her, Atlas bit down on her lip as she chose the fruity passion tea adding the teabag to her cup as she poured the boiling water over it. Deciding to add just one spoonful of honey to her drink, Atlas turned around to face the party.
What is wrong with you...why are you so weird and shy...Atlas thought to herself. You are at the greatest school, you got into the same house as your mother and everything is going to be perfect. Now just move your feet and do something.
Taking a sip from her steaming cup, she pursed her lips feeling her lips tingle as the steaming beverage trickled down her throat, wincing, Atlas rolled her eyes at her stupidity as she couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle. She was a walking mess no doubt but she wasn't going to become that hermit student who no one knows anything about. She just hoped a few more sips of tea would give her the push she needed.

Valentine's Tea

The day of the Valentine tea finally came. Ariana wore a pale pink skater dress and she had taken her hair down from its usual messy bun so that it fell gracefully around her shoulders in light natural curls. She nervously peaked round the corner and felt her heart beat faster. She didn’t want to go in. What if everyone laughed at her? What if she looked silly? The feeling of her walking into a room full of new people made her a bit uncomfortable. She pulled herself together and straightened up, she was a Gryffindor after all wasn't she? She was brave and daring. Yes, she was gonna do it. Holding her breath and bracing herself, she stepped into the small hall and walked down the steps, a few people smiled at her and stared, but Ariana didn’t mind. The room was decorated beautifully, though very pink. She giggled slightly at the sight of all the puffy chairs and pink tablecloths. Maybe she'd find someone who she could talk to and really get to know, she thought enthusiastically. She was kinda excited but scared at the same time. Her head filled with anxiety as she scanned the room for anyone that she knew.
She spotted James and wandered over to the hufflepuff boy a small smile on her face. Poking him on the shoulder she giggled as he jumped slightly in shock and turned to smile at her. "Ariiii!!" he said excitedly. "Look at you all dressed up! You look beautiful" he teased. "I didn’t think you would come!" Ariana laughed. " I changed my mind" She said with a smirk. "Thought I might meet some new people" She poked him in the chest, and smiled up at her best friend. "Sometimes you are too boring" She teased. James mocked offence. "How dare you?" He said, laughing "Obviously you can’t see my true qualities" Ariana laughed. Spotting Kara out of the corner of her eye she noticed that the girl looked a bit nervous or worried. "Jam?" She said, interrupting him mid-sentence, I'm gonna go check if that girl is alright she looks a bit worried. "Oke doke" he replied. "Don't be long" He playfully flicked the side of her cheek and Ariana walked away in search of the slytherin girl. Her height was another problem in this situation, she could barely see above everyone's head. Confused, Ariana lifted her head and squinted her green eyes to try to find her in the crowd when she suddenly felt a light tap on her shoulder and jumped slightly, whirling around to see who it was.
The dress Ariana wore:

He said, laughing "Obviously you can’t see my true qualities" Ariana laughed.

Valentine's Tea
Interacting with @Lark Flaer & @Cormac McCarthy
Ruthie did not want to attend this thing. She really, really, really did not. She'd rather be out doing any number of things than attend a pink tea party celebrating an irrelevant holiday. Patrolling for one. Polishing trophies in the trophy room. Cleaning the abandoned toilets. Battling a dragon. Actually, the dragon would probably be fun. But the point remained.
Still, there was one reason, one very, very good reason to be here: Lark Flaer. For days, Lark had been begging her to attend as soon as the announcement had been made. Why Lark wanted to attend such a tawdry affair was beyond her. But the reality was that Lark was her best friend, and more than that, she owed her. Lark had comforted her in the immediacy following the masked ball. She'd cried like baby in front of the metamorphagus. And she'd stayed. She'd made frog choir pillows and even joined despite not being a singer. And most recently, Lark had followed her out of the Ravenclaw dorm to try and save Shauna, an exploit that hadn't worked in the slightest. After all that, the least she could do was turn up to a tea party.
But that didn't mean she had to do it happily. While others dressed up, Ruthie trudged down to the small hall in a pair of baggy blue jeans and a long sleeve black cable sweater. Her blue beanie rested proudly on her head while a pair of black trainers dressed her feet. In short, if it hadn't been for her recognizable blonde curls, she could have been a boy. This was not unusual, but somehow felt more prominent because of how miserable she was to be in the room. Darting her eyes, she eventually settled on Lark and quickly walked over to her like a fairly uncomfortable penguin. "Okay, I'm here," she addressed her friend. Lark looked nice in her pink lace dress. She obviously cared. But that wasn't Ru and she was a lot more direct about her feelings. "Can we leave now please?" she asked, pulling on Lark's sleeve.
She was about to turn around and run leave, pulling Lark behind her, when her frustrated mumbling was interrupted by a familiar voice. It was Cormac McCarthy, the kind boy with the crazy owl, holding out a cup of tea. Ruthie hadn't even noticed there was tea. The boy was wearing his robes, but he still had that kind face and he looked pretty cheerful. "Uh, hi Cormac," she stuttered slightly. It was hard to be nice when she was so annoyed, but that didn't have anything to do with Cormac. He was probably looking to have a good time; that's all. "I'm sure tea is just tea. Is that for me?" she stretched out her nimble fingers to grab the cup if he offered it to her. Then she looked up at Lark, at unsure what to do. Lark would likely want to stay and Cormac had unwittingly given them the perfect reason to--it'd be rude to leave now. But if Ruthie had to be here, Lark and Cormac were good companions. So, begrudgingly, she forced a smile.
