GROUP 3
@Jun Mayumi Mochizuki, @Meyra Lancaster, @Katsuro Souto, @Colin McCoire, @Emily Shephard, @Angelfyre McCubbin, @Simon Kincaid
The small hall is split into a maze of smaller rooms, their doors lie every few feet, labelled with the number of the group meant to be in it. Each member who had found the place would find their name on a large whiteboard near the entrance to the hall, their name corresponding to their room number. If they tried to enter the wrong room, they would find the door to be locked, and only their door would open to them.

The door slides shut as the last member of your crew steps in. A sudden darkness takes possession of your every step, and your eyes need a few seconds to adjust. Slowly, some features are revealed to you. Some forms and shapes of what seem to be the outline of various furnitures lies ahead, yet the light doesn't allow you to fully see them. A green-ish glow casts itself over the room, and after a few moments, you manage to locate its source. Algae filaments ornate the cobbled stone walls, and if you squint, you could almost swear they're forming.... words? Along another wall lies algae in strange patterns.
____ ___ ______, ____ ____ __ ______,
___ ________ ____—___ __ __ ___.
A low humming is heard from every corner of the room, and softly, a voice is singing an unknown song.
Come seek us where the torches glow,
Within the castle, far below.
Where shadows feasts and silence calls,
Not great, but lesser halls.

Pearls and gold awaits inside,
Treasure torn from those who died...
It's tone is deep, slow, and shivers start running down your spine. A strong sensation takes place within your stomach, and your eyelids grow heavier and heavier. Suddenly, it stops abruptly, and silence rises. It seems to be... waiting for something...listening for something? After a minute, a loud sigh is heard, and the song begins again.

4 October 2025 - evening of the Enchanted Depths Fall Ball

Image posted by the member ngelFyre and Simon happily made their way from the Lost Pearl back to the castle. They had signed up for the escape room adventure and discovered that they were to go to the Small Hall. Soon enough they found their names were assigned to Group #3, and AngelFyre felt a déjà vu kind of moment take hold of her as the grouping reminded her of their Noir-themed murder mystery from the year before. Her excitement was growing by the minute, and she could feel her body practically vibrating.

"Oh, this is going to be a blast. I just love these kinds of adventures. Puzzling things out is one of my favorite things to do, and given the mysterious ambience on the Lost Pearl, and the flickering words on that pirate card business, I think we have quite the fun evening before us," and she turned to her boyfriend, simply beaming.

"Given that this place and group reminds me of our Noir-themed ball, I would like to address something with you. We let something drop from your sizzling Noir promposal which I would like to now propose we bring back."

She paused for dramatic effect, or maybe to get his attention, but she was actually not teasing or play-acting with him in this moment. She cleared her throat and proceeded as a bold sort of smile began to take up residence on her lips and light up her eyes.

"I did not perhaps let you know it at the time, but I really loved it when you called me 'Kitten'. I know you like saying my name more than you like any nicknames you have come up with for me, but I liked that one... a lot." AngelFyre searched Simon's eyes to discover how this was going over with him, and she was not at all surprised to see her poker-faced boyfriend holding his cards thoughts close to his vest. Not the least bit deterred, she continued. "I am not suggesting you use it all the time, because I do love the sound of my name on your lips, but it could be fun to hear it once in a while, when, you know... in moments when... you... uhmmm... when you are feeling particularly playful shall we say?"

Her boldness never failed to astonish her at times, but her fellow was holding true to poker-face form. She was not buying it. "Just think on it, Mr. Kincaid. You might be very surprised at the results," and she laughed as she imitated a cat flexing its claws while purring a 'meeeeoooowww'. Then he blinked. Twice. In quick succession.

Finally! Success was hers!

Reveling in her small victory, they reached the opening to what looked to be their group’s escape room. A quick glance at it revealed nothing but darkness, and her anticipation and excitement only grew. She gave Simon a smiling glance before stepping forward. “Let the games begin!” He still said nothing, but she leaned over to kiss his cheek before he retreated, allowing her to enter first, one of his hands still on the small of her back.

No one was in the room yet, as far as she could tell, which surprised her a bit, but it gave them time to look around. It was dark and dank and felt surprisingly like the Lost Pearl had felt... otherworldly. It took her eyes a few moments to adjust, but to say that she could see anything clearly would be a lie. It was not dark, per se, just very dim.

"Simon, are you able to see anything clearly in here, love? That dhampir eyesight should come in handy right about now." Then she noticed a greenish glow on one of the walls just as melodic voices began to sing. Each time she heard them, she felt herself getting drowsy, but there was something familiar about the song. Drowsy was not a normal state for her insomniatic self, so her mind flashed upon what she had been teasing Simon about all evening — sirens.

"Behold, the true sirens' call. Is it making you a little drowsy like it is me? I wonder if this part of the game or if we are in actual danger right now?" The voices repeated so often she had their song memorized.

What she could see of part of one wall looked to be covered in some kind of algae. That was where the faint glow was coming from, but more than that, it looked as if it was behaving like the card on the Lost Pearl had in some respects, as if something was beneath it. That sparked a thought and she reached for the pirate card she had held beneath the bluebell flames on the Lost Pearl.

Aboard the ship, the last two lines had been filled in magically, and now it was plain that this looping siren song they were listening to ended just before those last two lines. A glance at another wall revealed a pattern. Its form seemed to be 2 lines consisting of 14 words, and even included some punctuation. Perhaps those clumps of algae hid the words to fill in those blanks? Then she wondered if they actually were the words.

AngelFyre was struggling with the soporific effects of the unfinished refrain. She was also not liking that it reminded her of her drugged induced state at the hands of Samael weeks earlier. She did not like thinking through a haze. It gave her a true feeling of helplessness.

"Love,..” she said a little more slowly, trying not to slur her words, “…I think we are supposed to finish the sirens' song. Each time they stop, it is like they are waiting for us to fill in the rest. Their sigh of frustration when we do not is palpable, but I believe I have the answer on this card. I think the last two lines are:

Fail the search, your time is through,
The treasure stays – and so do you."

AngelFyre was beyond weary of hearing the same repeated verse and hoped that by speaking it to Simon, it would have silenced them. It had not. That was disappointing, but it gave her more information. She had spoken the words to him, and they probably needed to be sung, but she knew in her heart that she was not the one to sing them. Not with her voice! If she tried, some dark force would likely strike her dead.

The second thing she recognized was her timing had been off when she spoke them to him. Clearly it was not just enough to say them…they needed to be sung at the proper time, with the correct melody and rhythm. Or maybe it was something else entirely, but she did not think so.

“Look at this, Simon. This wall pattern seems to be tailor-made for the words we need to provide. I bet if we get either Emily or Meyra or Jun to sing it once they arrive, it will end this relentless siren call.” She reached over and squeezed his hand three times. I know your voice is heavenly, but I have a feeling a female might be the one to have to sing this.”

She could see Simon was also suffering the effects of the voices, and most uncharacteristically for him, her dhampir did not seem to be seeing as well in the darkness as he usually did. She wanted to cast a light, but knew it would hurt his eyes, so she refrained. He would know better than she if he needed more light, so she looked around for what else was in the room.

She noticed some furniture, but it seemed non-descript enough. A Revelio would have probably been the better spell to cast, but her thinking was foggy at this point, so she instead cast a “Reparifarge” on the largest piece of furniture, curious if everything in the room was actually what it appeared to be.

Just as she finished her cast, the door slid open and Meyra Lancaster arrived, looking beautiful as ever. It was at that moment that Simon also chose to cast, “Verdimillious.” AngelFyre smiled a warm greeting to the second year and expressed how lovely she looked as she turned her attention back to Simon, giving Meyra time to adjust her own eyes and look around.

Soon enough, sighing deeply and feeling beleaguered from the incessant earworm, AngelFyre approached Meyra. She filled the lioness in on her theories about the algae and the pattern, and then handed her the card she had received on the pirate ship.

“I held that pirate card up to the bluebell flames in a jar while on the Lost Pearl. The last two lines filled in by themselves when I did. As you can read and hear, they seem to be the last two lines to this looping melodic madness we are presently enduring.”

She was definitely feeling beleaguered at this point, and said aloud, to Simon mostly, “I bet you are wishing right about now I actually had brought ear plugs, yeah?” and she chuckled.

“But seriously, I am certain those two lines complete the song. They are waiting for us to sing it back to them, and once we do, I think the words will show up in that pattern over there,” she said, pointing to the opposite wall from where they were facing.

“But if we have any hope of getting out of here, I am most definitely not the female who should sing it.”

As they made their way from The Lost Pearl and back to the entrance of the Castle so they could get to the Small Hall, Simon remained alert. These school dances at Hogwarts still had him a little skeptical but being vigilent wasn't a bad thing - it kept their senses sharp. Dark magic could be anywhere and there were those that attempted to use it throughout history to gain power. Sometimes Simon was astounded at the horrors the students faced at Hogwarts but other times he was grateful for the experiences, as one never knew what the future might bring. He hoped good, of course, but with magic could come power and greed if not used carefully.

AngelFyre playfully recounted their last escape room experience before they entered and Simon smiled, glad that she appreciated the nickname. Perhaps he needed to give her more just in case another dance card opportunity presented itself but more so just because she liked it.

They entered their room and began to look around - at what little one could see. Again, it was rather dark in there and Simon could see better than she, but still not well. A green sort of light casted around and there were....letters? Did they spell words? He too felt a sleepy senation that made it rather difficult to gather his thoughts.

"I uhh. uhh...."
he paused, trying to catch his train of thought. What was it he was going to say?
Simon wasn't sure he liked this groggy sensation and he didn't like this lack of seeing. "Yea, finish it," he said and then glanced away a moment, knowing she was about to cast her spell. She had told him through the binding mark which it would be as a heads up and blue light illuminated some of the space.

The green eery light made him think of the green sparks of the Verdimillious Charm. The sparks could be used to reveal objects hidden by Dark Arts and provide some light as well and hopefully make him feel a little more settled. Simon brought out his wand. "Verdimillious!" he called out over the hum.

As she walked inside the castle her thoughts stubbornly kept her stuck at the sight she had witnessed at the Lost Pearl. She should have guessed and be prepared to find Dennis there, of course he would be. And even more obviously she should have known that he, logically, wouldn't be alone. It shouldn't have affected the way it did, and that alone was enough to tug on her nerves.

But as her footsteps brought her closer to the Small Hall, where the Drowned Palace was about to take place, the thoughts about the red haired boy she once called her boyfriend started to be replaced by a sentiment of raising excitement for the challenge she was about to enter.

As soon as she arrived there, her green eyes scanned through the whiteboard to find her name next to Jun's. A small smile graced her lips at the confirmation she would find her cousin there. But that smile fell, replaced by an expression of surprise and slight annoyance as she found the name that came next, Colin McCoire. "You must be kidding me..." She muttered in disbelief. From all people...it was like fate was messing around with her during that evening.

Meyra sighed, continuing to read. Katsuro Souto she had no idea who they were, but the other names sounded familiar. She was almost certain that two of them had participated with her in the last escape room, during the murder thing game. A sly smirk illuminated her features as she remembered winning that one, not that being a good lier and a murder would sound great in a curriculum, but oh well... that was fun! And lastly, but not the least, she found Emmi's name there too. In fact, she enjoyed meeting that sweet girl at Beauxbatons and couldn't blame Colin for having a huge crush on the girl!

"This is going to be fuUn!" She murmured in a sing song voice as she finally walked to open the door with the number 3 in it. As she entered the room, her eyes narrowed as she found the room enveloped in an eerie darkness just slightly lit with a frail greenish gleam. The door closed behind her as she blinked the discomfort away and her sight started to adapt to the absence of light.

Inside she spotted two figures staying close to each other, and she realised she had not been the first to arrive. Their faces were still fused with darkness, but by exclusion she was almost sure who they were. "Good evening." She told them politely with a small smile, her voice meddling with a song that kept playing on the background, "Thank you, you look lovely too. Like every time I saw you actually." She continued, giving a soft chuckle while replying to Angelfyre's kindness.

Mey continue to look around as her ears picked up on the alluring voices and the lyrics of their soft music. She noticed that there were some pieces of furniture around the room and the walls were decorated with algae, the one and only element illuminating the room. The young Gryffindor was not sure, but she was almost certain she had read about algae that produced that kind of light somewhere in one of her mother's Herbology or botany books.

"I don't remember its name exactly." Meyra said while carefully approaching the wall, her steps feeling slightly numb as the song somehow made her feel sleepy, a yawn escaping her involuntarily, "But I remember reading somewhere that it reacts to movement." With a stretched hand she softly caressed the algae on the wall that seemed to be writing some form of words, "If I'm right, this will make them glow brighter." She softly said to the couple.

She saw AngelFyre approaching her and Mey turned to look at the girl with a small smile, "That was very smart of you." Meyra told her, her voice enlaced with admiration, "I also have the card but didn't looked at it with such attention. Just caught the citrus smell in it, quite pleasant actually!"

Gently, Meyra held the card AF had handed to her. She narrowed her eyes slightly to look at the words she was supposed to sing back to the room. "I suppose I can try...". She said, her determination and excitement rising within her. How cool it was that they had found the right answer so quickly thanks to the Hufflepuff's cleverness.

Mey cleared her throat and prepared herself of the right moment to continue the song, making an extra effort to not yawn again. The song started once more:

"Come seek us where the torches glow,
Within the castle, far below.
Where shadows feasts and silence calls,
Not great, but lesser halls.

Pearls and gold awaits inside,
Treasure torn from those who died..."

And so Meyra completed in her own sweet and soft voice:

"Fail the search, your time is through,
The treasure stays – and so do you."

Then she waited with the others for what would happen next...

Emily slid into the room, bearing no fear or caution to the darkened chamber that now trapped her in. She heard Colin step in after her, feeling his presence as thick as an other fog.

"I've always wanted to do one of these escape room games...!" She said to him, knocking a hand to his. Once her eyes adjusted to the dim light of the room, she spotted two other familiar faces the further they stepped into the room, their voices very familiar sounding--

"Simon and AngelFyre!" she proclaimed, a grin quickly marking her lips as she went over to Emmi-Snug them, only slightly oblivious to the tender moment they were having. Still! They ought to be used to her well-meaning third wheeling by now! There was another student in the room-- Meyra! Emily knew she sounded familiar too. Amidst Colin's "You..." eyes he was giving her, Emily greeted her young friend with a wave.

Despite her hindered eyesight, Emily still examined what she still could see carefully with scrutinizing eyes. The furniture that hid in the corners of the room slowly began to become more clearer as her eyes sharpened to the black atmosphere, the furnishings on the walls becoming more discernible as well. Emily briefly left Colin's side and walked up to one of the walls to investigate. She ran her hand gently along the surface after catching sight of something stuck to it. Something moss-like in texture got caught in her nail as she wiped a finger over a small patch of the wall. She brought her finger to her nose, sniffing it softly. Grassy and fishy. Maybe something septic in there too? Just underneath it, she could feel the outline of something else, though she'd be damned to figure out what it was.

"Hm... I think there's something hidden here," she announced to the rest of the group. She fumbled about in her pockets looking for her wand until she eventually hoked it out from the waistband of her skirt.

Last time he had found himself in that place things had not gone as he had expected. For some reason that evening revealed to have been quite catastrophic for his reputation, leaving him with a slight regret for having participated in that silly tavern game. But yet again, he was finding himself walking those old corridors heading to the same rooms several months after his ego had suffered the consequences of his curiosity. Though this particular evening came with a different taste, there was a different purpose on his footsteps that carried him towards the door number three inside Hogwarts' Small hall. And that purpose was signed in the form of a name in the whiteboard that greeted the guests at the entrance. Jun Mochizuki.

That was a name he thought he would never see written again, much less did he think he would ever look again at the face of the girl he had grown up with and played with in Kyoto, their hometown. But last summer had came with a few surprises, being the main one, the day he had found her after almost three years of her absence. He still didn't know what exactly had happened to her and her family, but he knew enough that it had changed her deeply, there was a glow in her beautiful...

Wait...did he just thought beautiful as a way to describe her? Katsuro paused, one hand resting on the door handle. "Maybe..." He muttered to himself, shrugging away the confusion. That word had escaped so naturally from him to describe the girl he was waiting to find behind that door, and it was absolutely not a lie.

Katsuro entered the room with a smile on his lips, something he didn't quite noticed. What he did saw... or better...didn't saw, was the boy that was stay right before it. The room was dark, blinding him momentarily before his eyes could adjust to the absence of the corridor's warm light. He gave two steps into the room, before his nose was greeted with the hard muscles of someone's back, "Ouch!" He complained with a voice muffled by the hand he had placed over his nose and mouth, "You could have moved!" He continued, slightly irritated with whoever has decided to stay right there in his path.

His vision finally began to adapt to the soft green light that illuminated the room. It indeed gave the idea that they were below the sea, in some lost and forgotten cave that once hid someone's treasure. With some disappointment he did not wished to show, Katsuro noticed that Jun hasn't arrived yet. Instead there was a girl that was terrifyingly similar to her, but her eyes had a different hue, and the girls posture was not as elegant and delicate as Jun's, even in the darkness he could see the differences as strictly as their similarities.

"Good evening." He finally ended up saying to the group, taking his attention away from Jun's "doppelgänger", "That was a good idea!" He enthusiastically said to the girl that decided to cast a revelio spell at one of the walls. Katsuro decided to follow that cue and took his wand out of his pocket too. He decided to go near "Jun's wanna be" and cast his own spell "Accio clue!" he said, hopefully helping find something import that would save them from that room.

"You don't happen to know Jun Mochizuki do you?" He asked the girl, looking at her over his shoulder, "I thought I would find her here..."

Jun was once again fashionably late to the Ball. It seemed as though that had started becoming a regular occurrence for Hogwarts events, even when she would never even dream of being late to something such as class. Something about being in a space full of Students, where odd occurrence always seemed to happen, just did not seem that appealing to her. And yet, she was on her way to another one of exactly those events. Even worse, an Escape Room where she had to find her way out of, along with her assigned group. She guessed it was similar to the last ball, where they had played a Murder Mystery Game, which had truthfully been kind of fun, but the real reason she kept attending was her Cousin and best friend. Mey always seemed to get the young Ravenclaw out of her shell just fine. Not to forget, it was their second year now and Jun‘s mother had specifically pleaded with her to become a bit more social, so this was a good start.. right?

Currently, she was walking down the corridors with purposeful steps. The Escape Game was in the Small Hall, so not close to the actual Ball. For the Occasion, Jun had chosen a beautiful soft blue gown that covered her shoulders and had long flowy sleeves. The top was corset like in the middle and slightly sheer, but not so much so that the prominent claw scratches on her ribcage could be seen in any way. She had made sure of that. The top and bottom of the top of the dress was accented with pearls and glitter along the rim of a pattern that reminded her of scales, which was perfect for the Siren look she was going for. To finish of that same aesthetic, her hair was curled, half of it tied up with a little bun at the back of her head, with strands of pearls and tiny shells to accent the dress.

As Jun got there, her steps carried her to find which of the rooms she was supposed to go into. Her eyes scanned the large whiteboard, until they got stuck on her own name, then Meys. A small smile played on her lips, until she read further, her smile slipping off in the process. It didn’t slip due to the fact there were names she recognized from last year, not even because of Colin McCoire being in their group, no, it was one specific name that made her heartbeat pick up in an uncomfortable way. Katsuro Souto stood there in thick letters. Unmistakably her childhood ‚friend‘, if that was what you could call him.

Despite that uncomfortable flutter his name caused in her, Jun moved herself to the room and walked in. It was dark, something that caused her chest to do another little twist because that meant her eyes had to adjust and she couldn’t immediately avoid the Japanese boy she had seen again this summer. Her eyes started slowly adjusting and taking in the room. She spotted AngelFyre and Simon from last year, then a girl that she didn’t remember ever truly interacting with, but who must have been Emily - according to the board outside. Then her eyes landed on Mey and then someone next to her, that certainly wasn’t supposed to be there, next to her cousin.

Good Evening“ left Jun‘s lips softly as she passed the other participants, where Colin was probably too. Her heels caused a soft tapping sound against the stone floors and then she was standing next to her Cousin, breathing a soft „Hey.“ Jun glanced at Katsuro too, simply choosing to act as though she didn’t see him. AngelFyre told them about the card (very smart indeed) and Mey sang the song, while Jun wondered what else she could do. Then she turned around to inspect the room again, before deciding to just do something so they could get out of here as fast as possible. She took out her wand, tapping it softly against the furniture and speaking „Dissendium“ to try and see whether there was any other way out of here.

And being with Emmi was what Colin got! He watched as his girl entered the room and expressed her delight at discovering AngelFyre, Simon, and that Lancaster girl already present. His nose alerted him to their presence even as they were entering the castle, but that didn't mean he had to tell Emily every little scent that he picked up on!

He felt a tingle as she bumped his hand. Colin could tell. Emily was terribly excited to participate in the escape room thing. His ears heard what she said, but his mind was quite elsewhere! Colin sighed. On some windswept cliff overlooking the sea, perhaps! Just him and Emmi. Their hands holding each other. Their eyes gazing into each other. Their lips ---

"Ouch! You could have moved!"

Someone bumped into Colin. He didn't smell familiar. One of the foreign kids, he reckoned. He broke his gaze away from Emily as she went over to greet AngelFyre and Simon and Mey. "Oi!" Colin retorted. "Maybe ye didn't notice, lad, but I was staring the single most beautiful girl in all Hogwarts! And! Ye could have minded where ye're steering yer feet!"

The boy greeted everyone, and Colin returned his greeting with an elegant bow of his own. He noticed that the newcomer's eyes could hardly be more fixed on Mey Lancaster. Colin smirked. He watched as Emmi and Mey and AngelFyre began checkout out the room and casting spells to see if they find some clues as to what was going on in here. Colin caught the scent of another arrival. He rolled his eyes. The foreign boy asked if anyone knew Jun Mochizuki. Perfect timing that lad!

Colin thought about what spell to cast and drew his wand as he nudged Katsuro. "Those two are trouble, let me tell you, lad! The most annoying twins ye'll ever meet at Hogwarts!" Colin nodded knowingly. "I can't imagine why, but I don't think they like me much! Maybe ye'll have better luck!"

With a soft laugh, Colin turned towards the dim algae lit wall. The strange patterns enticed his keen wolfy vision. He knew well that a couple of other kids in the room could see rather well in the darkness. Hopefully they could discover something useful as a clue in here! Emily cast a revelio on the wall. "Good one, lassie! Let's see if I can help!" Colin extended his left arm towards the wall, wand in hand. "Dissendium!"

"What did ye make of that song, Em? There's nothing like that in the deep dungeons under Slytherin. It strikes me though: the kitchens are over yer way, aren't they? Near Hufflepuff? I'm sure the House Elves have torches and all in the kitchens! And, I reckon it could be called a "lesser hall", since it's below the Great Hall?" Colin wondered what the song could be leading them all to.

Colin's Enchanted Satchel

Colin has learned that it is very important to come prepared to a Hogwarts Ball! And the enchanted satchel is, in his experienced opinion, one of the best tools a young wizard has at his disposal. Apart from the usual assortment odds and ends, cheese snacks, and a bottle of water, Colin is carrying the following:

Colin's wand, Naur-an-Edraith, is secured within his sheath strapped to Colin's right arm, inside the sleeve of his loose fitting white shirt. 25,5 cm hawthorn wood and unicorn hair.

Colin's broom, Vailerama, confers +3 to all stats whilst flying.

Colin's shilelagh, Cernestaff, is made from Irish blackthorn and guarantees a solid drubbing when you get whacked!

MOD POST - GROUP 3
@AngelFyre McCubin started off by casting a sweet reparifarge on some furniture nearby. Her "furniture" turned out to be a giant sponge, and it was exactly that - a giant sponge. Where exactly 26 giant sponges had been found was a conundrum, but they were giant sponges nonetheless and nothing changed with the spell.

Moments after casting Accio, @Katsuro Souto would find a old red leather-bound book flying off the shelves toward him. "Whispers of the Shells" by Coral Ocean. Strange book. Stranger name. Who on earth would name their child "Coral Ocean?" A date is written on the right corner, the first letter glowing strangely: 1934. The book feels worn and has clearly been read many, many times.

@Emily Shephard would cast a well-timed and well-cast revelio, and the algae seemed to grow brighter and sharper, allowing her to read the words - sort of. The algae seemed confused, whether to hide from the @Simon Kincaid's light or come out to the revelio, and each word seemed to make up its own mind, half of them choosing to rebel from the light, half choosing to spark under the revelio.

and xxxxxxxxxxxxx search, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx through xxxxxx is xxxxxxxxxxx so xxx timexxx you

@Jun Mayumi Mochizuki and @Colin McCoire would both cast Dissendium. Apparently, the other person's spell was unsatisfactory, and they thought they could unveil something the other didn't. Unfortunately for them, the room was just a room and their spells exposed exactly zilch.

@Meyra Lancaster began to softly sing the rest of the words to the song. The music continued with her, and as her voice faded out, the singing did as well.

Upon singing the last word, a bell-like laugh is heard, followed by a splash of water. The room suddenly enlightens, lights coming from floating luminescent jellyfishes, blue-flame candles, and gigantic glowing pearls. You are clearly within a palace's room, the intricate designs reminiscing old-time castles, its columns stretching toward the surface of the ocean. For indeed, this palace is sunken deep within troubled seas—flowing motifs on the walls mimick the pattern often found when looking back at the surface, and a blue filter seems to be cast over the room.

Facing you, eyes can distinguish a large window opened on the underwater world. An infinite horizon of blue is shown, though in the distance, some recognisable shapes can be glimpsed. Sharks, fish, and mermaid silhouettes can be made out. Thick and heavy velvet curtains frame the window, their fringes piling on the floor underneath. Behind you is the door from which you've entered, though the knob seem to have disappeared. Next to it is an immense clock, though its mechanism seems to be broken, as it is frozen in time, the large hand on the 2 and the smaller one on 5. On your right is a bookshelf painstakingly carved from an oversized shell, its books worn, pages damaged by the ambient humidity.
Ambient Oceans, By Willy Embers
Watching the Waves, By Rylee Waters
Below the Waters, By Pearl Cordelia
a space where Whispers of the Shells By Coral Ocean used to be
Crossing the Trenches By Dolphina Wave

Man, they really name these kids strange names.

Besides it stands what appears to be a collection of shells, with a small wicker basket standing by its side.

What truly catches your eyes, though, is the wall found by your left side: a fascinating assortment of art, a gallery of moving paintings. These paintings are truly eye catching - it is hard to tear your eyes away. The first depicts a whale piercing the water, it's majestic shape crashing down the surface. Next to it is what appears to be a jellyfish, sister to the one floating throughout the room, pink, aligned with delicate lilac dots. The three following show, respectively, an orca chasing a seal, an elegant shark swimming about, and finally an adorable octopus hiding beneath a rock. The last one is that of a woman, staring directly at you, perched on a rock. Each member of the room will see the woman's eyes following them. Watching. Waiting. Hoping.

4 October 2025 - evening of the Enchanted Depths Fall Ball

Image posted by the member er peripheral vision detected the movement coming their way, and AngelFyre happily braced herself within Simon's arms, awaiting it. "Incoming," she whispered to him and smiled as she cocked her head in Emily's direction.

The effusive Hufflepuff was barreling towards them, and they were about to be enfolded in a signature 'Emmi-snug'. This was not a bad thing at all mind you, but it had been a topic of conversation between the couple on more than one occasion. As Emily was not one to normally take note of what might be occupying those whom she loved and wished to greet in any given moment, there were times when a little less obliviousness might have been welcome. Honestly though, her unabashed affection was one of her most endearing qualities.

Simon barely had time to look over before she was upon them, wedging herself, in part, between the two as hugs were shared all around. Much taller than their friend, AngelFyre looked easily over Emily's head to Simon and giggled.

"Patience," they oft repeated to one another with grins on their faces, acknowledging that such blessed interruptions would likely run rampant in their future household of little ones if Simon were to get his dream of “at least 12” children. Such reminders were then followed by “For the brood!” This evening was no exception, but it was done through their binding mark and done with great affection for the girl now in their arms.

As Emily left them to greet Meyra, AngelFyre caught an earful of Colin sounding off to someone about re-directing their feet. She smirked and just shook her head, looking for him near the entrance. He was talking to a younger boy, the only person she did not know in the group, but she waved a greeting at Colin when he managed to tear his gaze off of Emily and check out his other surroundings, and the people within it.

While waving at Colin, Meyra’s cousin, Jun, entered the room. AngelFyre watched as the door slid closed behind her as it had with all of them, but that time she heard a distinct click. She did not walk over to check it, but assumed they were now locked in and the game had truly begun.

Emily, Meyra, and Jun were all talking about the pirate card and their strategy as she and Simon continued to look about the room. AngelFyre decided to cast a Reparifarge on a piece of the furniture with the result that they all found themselves now in a room with a good number of large sponges. It may mean something later, but in that moment, it simply felt atmospheric and little more. She walked over and pressed her hand upon one of the sponges and was rewarded with a wet hand. “Hmmmm. I am not sure that was at all helpful,” she said somewhat apologetically to the group.

But, things were about to change for the better minutes later when magic started flying all about the room and a riddle in song was answered.

With his quick dhampir reflexes operating in full force, even amidst the incessant siren song, Simon was easily able to avoid being struck by a book that flew off a shelf and over to the unknown boy. The boy had called out “Accio clue!”, so that could only be good news.

Emily cast a gorgeous Revelio, and everyone watched as the algae started to move. It seemed to want to react positively to her cast, but the group decided that some of it had not, probably because of the light cast from Simon’s wand. It did not matter anyway as the words which had been revealed only bolstered AngelFyre’s belief that she had the answer to the song clue the moment she stepped foot into the room, thanks to the reveal on the back of her pirate’s card.

Jun and Colin both had the clever ideas to cast Dissendium, and AngelFyre was impressed with their line of thinking. They each cast in different areas, but nothing was revealed. AngelFyre did have to chuckle at Colin’s casting of his Dissendium on the floor.

“Pirates be sus, Fyre! Could be loot is right under our feet!” Sadly, no.

But then! Oh then it all opened up before them. Meyra sang the last two lines on the back of the pirate card, and it seemed as if the room completely transformed. There were bookcases that looked to be carved from shells. There was a large window that gave them an incredible view of sea life just beyond it. And there were so many books and moving paintings. But most helpful, from AngelFyre’s immediate perspective, was the light, some of it coming from the bioluminescent jellyfish above their heads.

Everyone sort of spread out to look at different areas, to gather what information and clues that they could. AngelFyre was drawn to the basket of seashells and walked over to it, lifting a particularly beautiful one that had a mother of pearl shine to it. Having grown up just minutes from the sea, she had spent years of her childhood gathering seashells with Grandma Ruth and her mother. She could not have been more delighted when her grandmother shared with her that if you put a seashell up to your ear, you could hear the ocean. It was a natural thing to do, so she did just that, relishing the thought of a little bit of home.

As the seashell moved towards her ear, her eyes landed on the unsettling portrait of the woman who seemed to be watching her. With the seashell still up to her ear, she approached the woman in the portrait and spoke.

“Hello.”
