Waiting On You
It has been a stressful time these past few weeks, between the part giants making a mess at the ball and the recent media coverage of Harry Potter's conviction Vladimir was glad that he never asked Marion to the ball. His affections towards her were incredibly obvious but he had never made a move on her despite carrying these sentiments now for the better part of two years. He knew better, even if he as able to muster the courage and even if she did not reject him immediately, his parents would have his head on a pike by night fall. Pure-bloods sought to protect their family line, those that failed to do so were ostracized by their family. He loved his parents and his siblings and the thought of having to pick between his love of them and the love of a girl kept him up at night and he was just a teenager.
It was better to keep distracted so that is what he did. He was going to meet Marion and Victor here for lunch. It was a bit chilly to have a bite outdoors this time of the year but it was better than spending an hour shoulder to shoulder in the great hall. He had grabbed a few pieces of fruit, he had not had much of an appetite these past few weeks, his stomach was doing flips yet again as it did with every meal as of late. He had lost some weight, it could be seen in his face, his cheeks were not quite as full as they used to be.

Waiting On You
After days she spent either in the library or a classroom, Opeila decided to go outside. The sun was shining, she had multiple books to read through, there was no need to spend another day in the dark library that was slowly driving her mad.
When she stepped outside, she felt like she had opened the curtains of a dark room she had spent years in. The light blinded her and quickly she covered her eyes until she got used to the brightness. More than ever she felt like a freak. She had gotten too thin the last days, she hadn't slept half oft the amount she should have. Dark rings were showing under her eyes and her skin was pale from days in a library, creating a strong contrast to her in the light rather red hair.
Her bag was almost too heavy with the seven books inside. Her father would have forbidden her to walk around with something as heavy as this. 'You will destroy your back', he would have told her.
No. No more thinking about your parents now, she told herself. She had a task, the same one she failed to fullfill the last three days, but that wouldn't stop her from trying.
Taking a deep breath, Opeila stepped outside, feeling like she was actually rejoining society. Unsure where to go she looked around until she found a place that looked good. But while walking in it's direction she heard a disturbing noise.
Only a second after the Slytherin realized, the bottom of her bag cracked from the weight of the books and everything fell out.
"Damn it!" She hissed annoyed, quickly collecting the books. Well. What did she even expect? Something like luck?

Waiting On You
For whatever reason those two knuckleheads were no-shows, he was going to be eating lunch alone. It would not be the first time but it was a pretty rare happenstance all things said. T%hat was the problem being the first wheel really, they both shared a house and despite Vladimir's less than studious facade the sorting hat saw it fit to sort him into the smart house. Of course, his curiosity was insatiable but he was not as ostentatious as many of his peers. It would seem that the people that intended to meet me in this thread are not coming. If the presumption of house made is too much, let me know and I will modify.
Well, whatever. He would stuff his face and then hunt the two of them down.
The Ravenclaw was not particularly interested in decorum as he jammed a piece of fruit into his mouth, core and all. He was about to leave, his stomach full enough when some pasty tiny thing walked past him and her bag broke in front of him. Too thin. Eyes with dark rings. A burden too great for her sleight size or the fortitude of the bag that served as the former vessel.
Slytherin, he thought. Presumptive since it is mid day, mid week and it was likely that the girl was wearing the trademark green and silver of her house. Wordlessly he would kneel down and pick up a small stack of books, they were a bit heavier than he expected. "No wonder the bag broke," he let out a half laugh. "Not sure if I could have lifted them, you're pretty strong for someone so small." He would scrape up some of the loose papers on the floor and pile them into a small stack.
Once his hands were full, he would stand upright still holding her books. "Mind if I help you carry these back to your dorm?"

Waiting On You
Opeila was small for her age, so it was no surprise, that the Slytherin couldn't carry all the books in her arms, but she was worried that the books could soak with snow, so she tried anyway. She was lucky that the Ravenclaw boy was there and helped her collecting them.
He laughed a little and said, that it wasn't surprising that the bag broke. He wasn't sure if he could have lifted them. When he called her small, Opeila couldn't help but smile a little playfully. "Please, not small. I prefer reduced to the best. About the bag... yeah. I guess, I should have expected that. I just wanted to go outside, doing some research...", she said and realized right after, that she was being rude. "Thank you for helping. Uhm, I am Opeila Seilun, first year."
She smiled a little, only too aware of the impression she was making. The Slytherin had looked into a mirror this morning and then immediately turned away from it again.
She was thankful for the Ravenclaw's offer to help her carry the books back to her dorm. "Uhm... if you don't mind.", she answered, feeling weird accepting this. But she knew that she wouldn't be able to carry them all back by herself, so she appreciated it a lot.

Waiting On You
"Not a problem," Vlad seemed to have a cheerful demeanor. His smile seemed to have a mischievous tilt, but it always looked that way.
With a mighty boyish heave he would lift the stack of books he had collected. The books were surprisingly heavy, it was astonishing that the girl was able to trudge under the weight of these books at all. "Have you ever considered having a few less books?" There was a library full of them. Of course he was more than familiar with a few Ravenclaws that must have felt that knowledge worked via a means of diffusion because they kept an unreasonable number of books on their person.
"I was headed down that way anyways," he claimed as he shifted the stack he had claimed his burden. "Lead the way, I will follow your voice," he joked. he could see over the books, but only barely. If they started to walk, he would make some small talk.
"What year are you?"
"What are your thoughts of Slytherin as a House?"
He would make the occasional quip himself, attempting to fill in the gaps of silence with something. "I have a few friends in the Slytherin House, great people. Always felt like a third wheel for being in a different house," he shrugged. Some things could not be helped. That sorting hat was insufferably stubborn and allegedly 'never wrong.' Vladimir did not know many people with greater ambitions than he. "Do you generally stick to your house?"

Waiting On You
Opeila smiled, when the boy asked her if she had ever considered having less books. "They aren't mine.", she said. "Library books. But I've spent so much time in the library the last few days, I just can't stand it anymore now. So I thought, bringing a few outside was a good idea... Well, obviously I was wrong."
"Are you sure, you want to carry all those? I can take a few more, if they are too many for you." She stood on her toes to look at the boy, who was now hidden behind a pile of books.
When they headed back to the Slytherin Common room, the Ravenclaw boy started to ask her a lot of questions about her house, her opinion of it, and if she generally sticked to her house.
Opeila chuckled a little. She wasn't sure, if the boy, who seemed a little older than her, was actually interested in her answer or just wanted her to keep talking so he wouldn't lose orientation.
"I am a first year. Uhm, I quite like my house, I don't think I would have fit into the other houses. Though, there are annoying members as well as nice ones. Like in the other houses I guess.
And I do like to talk to members of other houses."

Waiting On You
"Always wanted to know what a hernia felt like," he joked but in truth it was probably not that far-fetched. Did she have a whole encyclopedia set on her back before her bag broke? She offered to take a few but Vladimir's manly pride would not allow him to relinquish any books in his stack.
Her answers were a bit short, so the Ravenclaw would keep on chatting. "I got sorted into Ravenclaw, but the hat had a hard time picking between Ravenclaw and Slytherin," he explained. "I like my house for the most part, lotta books," he added. "You would probably like it too considering." Might save her a few trips to the library.
He would follow her voice through the halls. Like a bat using sonar, except less graceful and effective. Still, he would endeavor to endure. Slightly out of breath but hiding it as well as he could he would peer around the stack of books and give a charming smile. "Can you open the door for me?" He heaved the books a bit, they were cutting off the circulation to his fingers. "Although, now that I think of it, you're probably pretty buff if you carry this around casually. Maybe I should have had you carry my books."
He was the talkative sort it would seem. "What sort of stuff are you reading in here anyways," he could only see the spines of a few of the books but the names were hard to read from his vantage point.
