Airlia stood in line with her parents greeting guests as they flowed in gracefully through the open castle doors. The castle was grand in its medieval-type design and a large open ballroom. While the Winter family no longer lived there by their own choice, it was still extremely well maintained and always ready to occupy all witches and wizards from Finland in case of a crisis.

The ballroom was grand. The walls were lined with gold and white marble victorian designs. The floor had ancient runes engraved into it and it was tall enough to be the height of three rooms. Age-old chandeliers hung from the ceiling and glimmered in light that flooded the room from windows like a million sparkling diamonds. Golden ornaments framed the room and it was truly a grand sight to behold.

Then when you added the women and men clad in rich fabrics and looking like stoic statues the room was like a time capsule to four hundred years into the past left untouched and only to the reach of the fingertips of the noblest pureblooded families.

One by one Airlia received bows from heads of famous families and those companying them right after. The guests were like an endless flow of faces Airlia had seen a million times before but did not truly know as people. She could tell all their names and their histories, who was married to who, how many children they had all the way to how much influence they held to their name and how deep into Irverta had they stored their treasures.

The highest honored guests came first and Airlia knew to keep a graceful distance. After all, by tradition, she was not allowed to be touched unless she agreed to a dance. And each year there was some fool who forgot that particular rule and Airlia wished to save them from the embarrassment by keeping away to be too far to be touched.

Time and time again she greeted guests and answered questions about her brother's absence before the guests moved on to greet her parents standing by her side.

With the ever growing population of muggle and the consistent infiltration of Muggleborns into the magical world, good blood, pure and untainted, was hard to come by. The fourteen year old, knew what her mother had meant when she brought it up upon a pivotal discussion barely a week ago. Ever since that particular conversation, there had been nothing else on Aurelia’s mind than the now-dreaded ball.

Although unrelated by blood, the purity of her descent was as untainted as that of the two whom had adopted her. The same was said for Dietrich Bezuidenhout, her six year old brother whom she only came to know of barely a week ago. Recently, her parents had took him in simply because they hadn’t a male to success them. According to the tradition, as a female, despite being older, Aurelia was not obliged to success her parents in the future but rather, — to her chagrin— was expected to expand her family’s connection through marriage.

The dress she wore barely brushed across the grand marble floor as she gingerly made her way down the steps of the Bezuidenhout manor to her waiting family. Shimmering under the candle light, her white dress seemed to transition into a beautiful shade of pale silver.

As lovely as always, my dear,” Her mother complimented on her choice of dress as her hands reached out to tuck a lock of hair of which had escaped from the tight braid behind her ear.

Thellea Bezuidenhout was all in white as well while Dietrich and Adebard were in contrasting crisp dark suits. With a wave of his wand, her father had apparated the four of them onto large doors of the Winter Household. “Aurelia, I assume you know what that is expected of you,” the man’s voice was warm and kind on contrary to his stern words. Aurelia was very well aware of what awaited her on this evening.

Upon stepping into the large castle-like building, the family was greeted by that of the Winters. Aurelia performed a graceful curtsy, a lovely smile framing her face. Unlike her father, never had she met the Winters. She did recognised the girl from school, but other than that, they were strangers to her.

It is once again a pleasure to meet you and your family. ” Her Father greeted out of courtesy.

Hm? Your son Gael, should he already be in the ball? Aurelia is quite eager to meet him.” Thellea Bezuidenhout continued. Aurelia had never seen their self eldest son Gael nor was she eager to. But she knew well she would soon met him.

After the ball, shall we discuss of what has been arranged?” Her father put in.

Nick tightened his tie as he looked as he stepped up to the tie. Sure he was dreading this event for the entire week he's known about it, but it hadn't really set in until he saw the enormous castle standing before him. Now the impending doom of embarrassing himself and his mother in front of all these rich pureblood snobs was about to come true.

Nick's mother was invited to this party because apparently her job would be greatly affected by the impression she made on Mr. Winter. Per usual, she couldn't say much about her job because she's an Unspeakable. The problem is, not only does he not know how to act around these kinds of people, but he also has an extremely heavy Scottish accent and slang that makes his speech very informal.

He kept running what his mom told him in his head. Just greet everyone saying 'It's a pleasure to meet you and your family'. Shake everyone's hand and then you won't have to talk to anyone else. They won't mind your accent. He didn't want to be the one to make a first impression on the Winter's but he's the eldest male so he's the one that has to do it.

Walking into the castle he was greeted by a beautiful hallway leading into an immensely stunning ballroom. Since his family was one of the lesser honored guests, the ballroom was already filled with men in expensive black tailored suits and women in ornate showy ballroom gowns and dresses. He looked down at his suit. He thought it looked nice, but his mom couldn't afford it to be tailored so it was just a suit in his size. Now his suit looked like he got it from a dollar store compared to everyone else's.

Taking a deep breath he approached the Winter family standing at the ballroom entrance. You can do this. You can do this. Nick shook the Mr and Mrs of the Winter family but not their daughter's hand since she wasn't married or something like that so she couldn't be touched. "Hello Mr and Mrs Winter, it's a pleasure to meet you two and your daughter." Nick said trying his best to conceal his Scottish accent as much as possible. Nick winced in anticipation of the Winter's reactions.

Realising he was closing his eyes for a moment he quickly opened them, bowed to the Winter's and quickly walked into the ballroom as the blood started rushing to his cheeks.

Greeting people as they stepped in the door Airlia was tiring out and the event had just begun. It wasn't until the Bezuidenhout family stepped through that her interest piqued.

The family was respected and great and they happened to have a daughter around her age. But truth be told she was mainly trying to see if the girl was someone she could spend the evening with.

It was the mention of her bother that made her head whip around to look at the interaction between her father and Thellea Bezuidenhout. She recognized the woman from portraits during her pureblood history lessons and grew worried. The family head, Mrs. Bezuidenhout and Airlia's father were speaking about an arrangement concerning her brother. And that was never good for her brother hadn't even been found yet.

Airlia for one knew her brother was in Brazil, but her parents were kept in the dark about that little detail and Airlia wished to keep it that way.

Her father was able to keep a straight face when shortly discussing this unknown arrangement and soon the family moved along the flow of people. But Airlia did have time to look at the girl among them. Airlia remembered her name to be Aurelia because her past was quite tragic and her name was similar to hers. She'd seen the girl in school but closer like this she was quite beautiful.

She had nice brown hair in a braid, blue eyes that had a hue of grey to them like the girl was in a dream world of her own and she was wearing the type of dress Airlia would have chosen for this event. It was white with a tint of grey to it and silver stars were splattered along the dress. At the back from her shoulder blades began a graceful clear fabric that looked like a cape split in two that flowed to the floor.

Airlia smiled as the watched the girl walk away. She looked down at herself and sighed. She really did like her dress too. It had been custom made for her in Paris over the last three months. At the front, the dress reminded a soldier's jacket with the stitching and the patterns that raced along her arms. There were winter flowers and vine patterns on the dress as it flowed down to the floor in a subtle ballgown shape. It had a halter neck that ended with an open back where a thousand diamonds ran along it like dozens of necklaces.

More blank faces greeted her, some with enthusiasm over seeing her again, others promising a dance and starting a playful banter with her. She was quite a soul of the party even is she tended to retreat to the back of the room.

When the people considered to be more important guests stopped and ministry officials and such came in Airlia noticed a boy that claimed her interest in seconds as he walked in through the door.

He was dressed nicely despite not having been perfectly fitted into his suit and the fabric wasn't as expensive as the rest of the guests. It was the blatant lack of a pompous attitude that made Airlia pay special attention to him.

When he seized in front of them he seemed to have the general idea of how to act at these events and it seemed like he had been dragged here by his mother. And Airlia could see why. Being invited here was like the golden ticket in that muggle book with the chocolate factory. If the boy were to ever apply to a ministry job and someone remembered him from this event his likeliness of being hired rose to the roof. This was an opportunity not to be disregarded.

When the last of the people were inside Airlia gracefully made her way over to where people her age seemed to be standing as her parents began the opening dance of family Winter.

Without her brother, present Airlia couldn't dance along with them, but she was fine with it. Ending up a few feet away from the brunette girl and the out of place looking boy Airlia smiled. Maybe she'd ended up in the right company for this evening.

- Airlia Winter; The little lady of Taika
❄ The Winter Family Ball ❄ PV Closed
The vicinity of every pureblood household was different and the aristocratic individuals, although alike in the dressing of dashing white may have customs that contrasted greatly. In her childhood, Aurelia was educated on the different customs of the many pureblood families, yet she was expected to follow what thought was precedent.

After greeting the lord and lady of the Winter household, Aurelia gingerly made her way to the heart of the vivacity: the ballroom. The thin heels under her feet clicked against the marble floors rhythmically and the train of her dress flowed along as she walked. What her parents had told her the other day was still as reminiscent as it been since they divulged on the baffling news. A hint of an agitated sigh left her rosy lips as she scanned the room with her pair of alluring blue-grey eyes.

Although she wanted nothing more than to take to the dance floor, it was a tradition for the adolescent males to extend a courteous. Dance would make of a distraction which would allow the brunette to take her mind off the only thing lingering that little head of hers. All she needed was a partner. A dark-haired teen stood amidst the crowd, perhaps one of the few close to her age give or take.

Seizing the chance, the fourteen-year-old approached her target with a notable eagerness in her steps. A gentle smile spread across her lovely face as a single word slipped her parted lips, "dance?"

However, as soon as she did, she was quickly interrupted by the daughter of the WInter household. "Airlia, it is a pleasure to finally met you." the formality in her words were ever prominent. "I must say, your outfit is lovely,"
Applogies for the late reply, I completely forgotten about this thread.

Nick stood, being awkward, for a while a couple of feet away from his mom. Close enough that he wouldn't get lost in the ballroom and end up missing something that would end up embarrassing his mother, but far enough away that he wouldn't say something stupid in front of his mom that would embarrass her. Basically, his only end goal was to not possibly jeopardize his mother's career.

Not long after Nick and his mom got into the ballroom (probably because they were one of the last people to get in), people started crowding to a certain part of the ballroom. He followed his mother and ended up being moved towards where the children. There he noticed the extremely blonde daughter of the Winter family, who had a bit of a forcefield yet magnetic force around her as no one came close to her, but at the same everyone seemed enticed by her.

Doing the same, he looked towards the center of the crowd to see the heads of the Winter family dancing to start the event. While it might have been boring, Nick didn't care. All he had to do was stand and watch, he didn't have to dance himself and embarrass himself and probably find a way to hurt his partner.

However, almost as if on cue, a slightly older than him brunette walks up to him and asks him to dance. Nick immediately gets flustered. This girl clearly wasn't Scottish so he would have to try his best to talk using the queen's language. He had bet on him not talking tonight but of course, Nick couldn't have this blessing.

To make it worse, the infamous Winter daughter came over to the two of them. He could tell why everyone was fascinated and intrigued by her. Her appearance itself was angel-like and she practically glowed in the ballroom lighting. Her dress was so intricate and beautiful and was just dripping with wealth.

Wanting to get as far away from embarrassing himself as possible, Nick decided to ignore the brunette's request, hoping that she would forget about it. "Yes it really is um... Airlia." Nick said quietly, stumbling on the girls name, "Although I don't know much about how my mom knows your family or your family, in general, to be honest since she's an Unspeakable and-" He stopped himself short before he rambled for too long, giving an embarrassed smile.
