Meeting new friends
Lily went drowsily to the Great Hall, half-sleepy because she stayed up all night, talking with her new roommates. Now she chatted with them animatedly and laughed with them. She never had thought that she will be accepted by strangers, but here she was, standing amongst her roommates who were now her friends.
Suddenly, a cat ran from in between her legs. She almost lost her balance if not for her friends who grabbed her flailing arms. "Thanks", she mumbled, looking in the direction where the cat went. Then, she saw someone running behind the cat. She recognized her at once. Ada Hawkins. She was in her Transfiguration class, and was famous for her witty but kind nature. She was also one of the first persons to conjure the spell at the first time itself.
"Oh, so that is her cat, the one she was talking about. Fits her personality perfectly..", she thought. She had always believed that cats are very intelligent. Her sister had one too and it was very clever.
After Ada had caught her cat, Lily went towards her. "Hi. I am Lily Clarke. I like your cat. What is its name?", she asked, surprising even herself as she wasn't that interactive with people she haven't talked with....

It was early in the morning, right after breakfast, Shafts of light came down from the ceiling, the clouds were white streaks across the bright blue sky as if they were painted into the scenery. A group of Hufflepuff girls had just stepped into the Grate hall, chatting and laughing with each other.
Then a flash of brown pelted between one of the girls legs. Nox! Ada thought, her freckled face turning. He jumped into her arms and she caught him gracefully, his fur was soft and warm as... well, as soft and warm as a cat. The girl he'd almost knocked over had righted herself and was now walking toward her. She was quite pretty, her long black hair flowed all the way down her back, her chocolaty brown eyes taking in the room as she approached.
To her surprise, Lily didn't seem to mad at her. "Hi. I am Lily Clarke. I like your cat. What is its name?",She said. Oh, Ada said taken a bit by surprise at her friendly nature after her cat had almost knocked her of her feet.
"Nox," She said to Lilly "My names Ada, by the way" She said, smiling and holding out her free hand.

Lily saw Ada look a little surprised when she asked about her cat. "Did I make it too awkward for her?",she thought. But just then Ada smiled and introduced herself and the cat. "Nox. My name is Ada, by the way." She held out her hand and Lily accepted it gracefully.
"I know. You are pretty popular for your witty yet kind nature.", Lily said.
Lily thought Ada seemed surprised at this. She thought that Ada didn't know that was popular and she might have been right at some point " Well, honestly, you are very kind. Anyone would remember someone being kind to them.", she said. As Ada still looked a bit confused to Lily, she further explained. " Everyone saw you helping the boy who had fallen the other day. You helped one of my friends to make her Potion correctly in the class. She told me about it later in the day.", she said. After a pause, Lily continued. She wanted to give Ada the full context, regardless of knowledge of her reputation prior. "And let us be honest. You answer all the questions and sometimes when other kids ask you any doubt, you answer them with patience.", she said. "Now tell me, if you saw any kid or any person like that, wouldn't you remember that person?", she asked. Ada seemed to blush at this.
"Well anyways, what is your next class right now?, Lily asked, taking Ada's arm and dragging her out.

Ada was flattered by her so called popularity, she tried to be modest, but her cheeks grew redder with every proclamation and she couldn't help but smile the tiniest bit. "Transfiguration I think..." Ada said changing the subject and and answering Lilys question, puling a crumpled schedule out of her pocket. "Yes.. transfiguration," She said her green eyes scaning the paper, "What about you?" She asked putting the schedule back into her pocket.
She put Nox down and he curled up around her feet. Kneling down so she was level with her cat and said to him; "Okay, Nox, can you go back to the dorm room alright, I'll bring you some bacon scraps after classes, and your welcome to the left over food in my trunk if you can get to it." He gave a nod of acknowledgement, his green eyes sparkling with the thought of bacon.
He uncurled from her from around her ankles and trotted up the marble staircase to Gryffindor Tower. A last flick of his brown tail and he diapered around the corner. As she got back up she just then realized how odd it must have look for to Lily for a human to be talking to her cat. "Sorry, that must have looked really weird." Ada said turning her attention back to Lily.

Lily saw Ada smile a little. Maybe she was thinking about her popularity. Or maybe something like that. She tried not to wonder about it anymore and instead focus on what she said afterwards.
"Transfiguration, I think", Ada said, and confirming it after checking with her timetable. "Oh, that is cool. I have got Transfiguration too, I guess. ", Lily said, checking her timetable herself. She scanned the page, and saw Transfiguration only. "Yeah it is Transfiguration.", she confirmed. "And no. I do not think it was weird at all. ". Since Ada still seemed confused to Lily, she decided to explain herself further. "Look, my sister had a cat too. She used to do stuff like these all the time. Continuing, she said. "Talking to her kitten? Oh please. That was very normal in our home. So no, it wasn't weird at all. " She finished her statement, letting it hang in the air for a moment or two. Ada seemed to ponder on it for a moment. Lily still wasn't sure if she was thinking.
"Anyways." , she said, breaking the ice. "Let us go to our class now. It is almost time now and we wouldn't want to be late, would we?" , she continued, taking Ada's hand and dragging her towards the Transfiguration's class.
