Jake didn't very often go to school functions. That was because usually school functions meant a lot of children, and five months at Hogwarts hadn't made Jake feel very much more comfortable around large groups of other children.

He knew that a lot of them could be nice...he had met many nice kids in every house, especially Hufflepuff - he had even made friends. But it didn't change the fact that when he was around a lot of kids in one place, and any number of them looked at him, he felt the same discomfort rising inside of him, wanting to avoid their eyes and slip away to where he wouldn't be noticed or looked at. The other kids were just scary...and there was no way around that.

But if there ever was a time to try to go to a place where other kids might be, maybe a tea party was the time. Tea parties seemed nice enough. You brought your stuffed animals, sat around tables, got to have some tea and cookies, and they were never noisy and they certainly didn't have any rough-housing. If you were going to make friends maybe that was the time to do it - especially because Jake had only met two kids that had had stuffed animals like he did - Lamik and Alan.

This was supposed to be a VALENTINE's day tea party, but Jake didn't suppose it would be very different. They were just kids, after all, so it probably wouldn't matter. Jake didn't know too much about the point of Valentine's Day. He knew that for grown-ups it meant getting each other love-y gifts and going out to dinners with fancy dress and staying out so late that Jake's babysitter was the one who would put him to bed, and for teenagers it probably meant kissing a lot because that was what it seemed like from TV. For kids, it wasn't really that. They didn't HAVE that kind of love, even though confusingly Jake knew that there were some other first years that had girlfriends or boyfriends. For Jake, the day mostly meant making sure to tell your friends that you loved them and that was it - a new experience for Jake who had never had a friend before.

So since Valentine's Day hadn't scared him off, Jake made his way to the Small Hall with his favorite stuffed dog Freddie held close to the chest. He hoped nobody would see him before he reached the hall, in case a bully would come by who wouldn't think it was cool to still own one.

The first thing Jake noticed when he walked in the room was that it was very pink - for Valentine's Day that was maybe what he should have expected. The second thing he noticed was that there were a lot of kids. Much more than he had imagined. This made him hold Freddie a little closer. The third thing he noticed was that most of the students who were here were girls. That made him a little bit worried and maybe embarrassed - maybe that meant that it was the kind of things boys weren't supposed to go to. The other boys seemed to have a good idea of what boys and girls were supposed to do, which seemed a little silly to Jake who secretly thought that a lot of the things boys might not be supposed to like seemed pretty cool to him. But it wasn't supposed to be that way...was it? Were tea parties one of those things?

The fourth thing he noticed was that nobody else had brought stuffed animals.

Jake's cheeks turned red as he suddenly felt very foolish, remembering the time he had showed up to the masquerade dressed up like a pumpkin. The masquerade ball had become a nightmarish scenario afterwards, and while the memories of the fire still haunted him, it had still not been enough to totally wipe out the shame of being the only one who had arrived in Halloween costume. Why did he never know how anything worked? Holding Freddie by one of his paws, Jake shyly took a seat near the entrance wondering if he should turn around right now before anybody noticed him.

As the little Hufflepuff looked up, he noticed a fifth thing: He was not alone at the table. (@Nico Shymane)

Opeila grinned. "I am sure that someone will end up being tricked into taking a love potion. I am curious, how that will work out." She'd still save Ruka from a lot of embarassment if someone really had spiked his drink.

She had to laugh, when Ruka said he'd stay with tea and biscuits for now. "I'd normally agree, food can be a lot nicer than people.
But in this place, it is food that can bring your uh... temporary downfall upon you. So maybe I'd actually prefer human company for now. At least I can pay attention to what they do."

Ruka's toast made her chuckle and she lifted an imaginary teacup. "Cheers. Let's hope none of us will end up in an uncomfortable situation today. I've seen a few matchmaker students already, who were trying to get some poor unprepared students together." The Slytherin leaned back as well. "I think, half of the year is forgetting that we are only eleven. Or twelve, no big difference."

Then Ruka started to talk about another Gryffindor boy who had just entered and now seemed very uncomfortable. When Ruka said his reaction was similar, Opeila rose a brow. "Was it? I mean, sure, first you think, you had fallen into a cotton candy ball, but then... It is interesting watching the others." She looked at the other boy again. "Shall we save him from there?"

Quinn had definitely heard about the event, and his first thought wasn't even if someone would show. No he knew people would show considering house points were involved. His first thought was concerned with how egregiously pink and admittedly tacky the decorations would be. Professor Bercegay? Was that how you pronounced her last name? Eh close enough. That's not important. What was important was the outfit Quinn was gonna wear. Every time he went to one of her events he always wore something...unique.

Luckily for the tall Huffle boi. Because of his continuous and rapid growth that showed no signs of stopping he was frequently receiving care packages of clothes that fit. In his last letter he had asked for some specific clothing item and a set of themed bowties and suspenders. A taste he developed thanks to his grandfathers. He already had the hat in mind but the shoes were the hardest part. There were custom and hard to find. But thanks to a lot of begging and some guilt tripping he got them.

Going through his box he pulled out what he needed and then went to his trunk to get the other things. Looking at the items he was proud and certainly would draw attention. It was perfect. The entire time his lovely cat Irene sat on the bed silently and curiously judging Quinn's taste in attire. He had learned to ignore her stares as the crafty feline seemed to get off on his annoyance. Her different colored eyes trying to stare a hole of judgement into him. Quinn would again not give her that satisfaction.

Funnily enough it was that very act of staring that caused him to leave her there. To her many protests. He sighed scratching behind her ears before he left, putting on his sunglasses and fedora. After a few minutes of placating her he left, no doubt garnering a few looks along the way to the small hall. When he could see the entrance to the small hall he noticed a surprisingly bright light coming from the room. Which was most curious. This curiosity was rewarded barely a minute later when he peeked in.

He shouldn't have been surprised but he was. It was so bright...and pink. It was very...Olphie. Sighing he put on his best smile the heart shaped shades he had on shielding his eyes from the very bright light. The very tall prefect of Hufflepuff had on a unique outfit to say the least. From his high top red Chuck's that had 'We Are Not Alone' in bold black lettering on the sides. To his black donut shirt and heart covered bow tie and suspenders. The final piece was his Burgundy red fedora with a feather in it.

In short he looked very Quinn. A wide goofy grin on his face as he looked through the whole room. Spotting some people he knew and many he didn't. He easily towered over everyone in the room. Walking further he observed the pink couches and the tea. It was all most joyous and he was very happy he decided to come and dress up as well. Quinn slowly lifted up his glasses letting his eyes adjust to the brightness of the room.

Eventually his eyes laid upon a very familiar face. Barely containing his need to squeal and run over to Nico. It was obvious he was barely containing it but he managed to walk over to the dark corner she was in. "Nico me friend!" He chuckled stopping a foot from where she was seated looking down at her.

This was not what he had expected.

He supposed that he shouldn't be entirely surprised. Nothing here was familiar. When he had heard about the "tea party" he should have realized that it would be nothing like a tea ceremony. In fact, in hindsight, it would be very strange to host a tea ceremony to celebrate Valentine' s Day.

Yet. Even beyond the obvious differences... Why was everything so.... Pink...?

It offended his eyes.

He stood in the doorway, dressed in a proper silk kimono, black and red with red camellias and silver cranes embroidered across it. Overdressed by comparison, he realized as his eyes scanned over the other students.

Well. It would be disrespectful at this point to simply leave. Not to mention that whole House Points thing everyone was always going on about. Would they deduct points if he left? That might cause him issues with his fellow students. He would rather not garner negative attention at this time. Duty first, as his father would say.

After an agonizingly long moment of indecision, he began to move again, heading toward the gracious host of the event and giving her a formal bow.

"Professor. Thank you for your gracious invitation to this... Tea party?" He spoke very formally, carefully phrasing the words in his head before speaking. "If I may ask... It seems I misunderstood what a tea party is. What is the proper etiquette for such an event?"

Sayomi looked over every flavour there was at the table. She thought it was a nice way to stall some time. At least until the room was filled up. It is one thing to walk alone in the hallways from classroom to classroom, but standing alone at an event dedicated to being with someone else felt a bit worse. Although she she did take her sweet time, she couldn't stand here for the rest of the event.

A voice next to her, asking what tea she wanted, threw Sayomi off guard. "Huh, me?" she asked as a reflex. Even if it was obvious who the question was for. With only a quick glance at the person she was now talking to before looking back at the tea selection. "Um, I'm not sure... Maybe some peach tea?" she lied. Since she was unsure of how she could explain why she stood here for so long, the girl thought it would be easier to fake indecisiveness. "What about you?"

Using the opportunity the smalltalk provided, Sayomi took a better look at the other girl. Comparing the cute pink and white Mary-Janes to her own simple white flats. "You look cute. I love your dress" she complemented, nearly stumbling over a couple of words. Making her feel a bit embarrassed. "By the way..." she quickly added to somehow make it better.

[font=Segoe Print]Really, Rafael had never been a tea guy.

No, on the contrary, the boy had always preferred strong, black coffee. Back in Barking, the place in which he called home, he would drink a cup every morning to wake himself up – and, on the later nights, staying up to play cards with his uncles, he’d down a cup then. His mother, funnily enough, had actually encouraged the consumption of the drink. You need to stop growing, she’d told him one day. Any taller, and you’re practically a giant. And, sure, there was some truth to that observation – at the ripe age of eleven, he was already 5 feet and 4 inches, and still growing. A tall boy for his age, that was for sure.

But, besides the point, the boy hadn’t exactly been thrilled about tea. It had always seemed to posh, British, high-society. This had been the observations of the Northlands Soccer Team, in the least. And, sure, perhaps those observations had been a bit stereotypical. It didn’t at all change the vision in Rafael’s mind. In fact, if he hadn’t been invited, he would never have come, instead opting to a Quidditch Practice or something more productive. Instead, Wren had cordially invited him to the Valentine’s event – Wren, one of his best mates, strange and spontaneous as she may be. She’d asked him earlier in the week, in fact, during the chaos of Charms class – if you could even call it ‘asking’. But, whatever the case or context, he’d happily complied, bringing himself to the Great Hall in quite the bright manner.

Though, when Wren had invited him down to the ‘Tea Party’ of sorts, he’d not at all known what he had signed up for. Upon arriving, the boy had been quite shocked to see the amassing amount of students, milling around the grand room. It was supposed to be a small get-together, he thought wrly. Right? Truth was, Wren hadn’t actually told him how many people would be present. And, here he was, not even dressed all that well. It could’ve been a lot worse, he supposed. Jack Burnett could have been present. And, that wouldn’t have been a pretty sight. He quickly scanned the expanses of the crowd, brushing eyes with a bunch of familiar faces. Aurelia. Alan. Evelynn. And also, some new faces – a Hufflepuff he’d seen in the Liberations Club, a very good-looking Slytherin, some funky kid wearing a fedora –

In the midst of his curious searching, he had locked eyes with the girl in question – Wren. Upon seeing the his good friend, his face brightened a bit, a wide grin coming to his face. He managed to wave at the her from across the hall, wasting no time in jogging up to meet her. “’Sup, Babes,” he told her cordially, referring to the nickname she had created for herself a while back. “Dressing up, are we?” He was, of course, referring to the rather fancy dress she was donning. “Wish I’d known. Would’ve worn something nicer.” He gestured to his clothing – guess what – a red hoodie, matched with some jeans and sneakers. His simple look. A humorous grin on his face, he added, “I suppose we are matching, though. Valentine’s colors, and all.”

To be honest, Violine only decided to attend the Tea Party because of the points. She was not obsessed with competing, but she was proud. And losing the House Cup this month had been hard for her ego. Not that she brought a lot of points to her House… But she wanted to get more involved. And anyway, maybe she would have fun?

Unfortunately, when she entered the Small Hall, the thought of enjoying herself just faded. Everything was just so… pink. She winced and rolled her eyes, wondering what she was doing here. Some students were really well dressed, they looked like little princes and princesses. They were gorgeous. However, Violine felt just as pretty as them. She was wearing grey tweed pants and a nice white blouse with ruffles. As it was still very cold in the castle, she had also put on an emerald-green woollen cardigan. She felt handsome.

At first, she stayed near the entrance, as if scared to be swallowed by the pink setting. A dozen students were already there, many of them standing on their own or talking in groups of two or three. Violine didn’t have any real friends and even though she had already spoken with some of the girls there, she didn’t feel like going towards them. She would seem interested in talking to them, in making friends, in having company. *But that’s what you want, right?* she thought. Yes, it was. But she didn’t like getting attached people. Eventually, one of them would have to leave and it would break her heart.

When she realised she had been standing next to the door for an awkward amount of time, she decided to move. She had spotted a girl she had met on another errand, Serena something. She was wearing a cute pink dress which was obviously too big for her, but she actually looked pretty in it. *Just go and talk to her! It’s not that hard. Stop being scared all the time, you’re a Gryffindor, yes or no?* She was about to step forward when she saw Serena started talking to another girl. It would take much more than that for her to find an excuse. *She is busy, I’ll talk to her later!*

She went to sit at an empty table… which was in fact occupied by an older student, all dressed in black.

Oh, sorry, I didn’t see you there! You don’t mind if I sit here?

She didn’t wait for an answer and sat down, or rather sank into the plush couch.

Oooh, comfy!

On the table sat a black cat.

Oh, you have a cat? That’s so cool!

She didn’t ask to pet the animal. Nor did she ask more questions about him. Instead, she sat a little more stiffly and tried to avoid the cat’s eyes. Animals terrified her, no matter what kind they were. Yet, she didn’t dare to stand up and leave, as she knew it would be rude. In truth, it was not a matter of politeness any more: she was paralysed by fear. *Just think of something else, try to get your mind off this, forget he is even there!*

I’m Eliza… err, I mean, my name is Violine.

*Just don't start telling lies again, okay?* Her voice shook a little, but she hoped it wasn’t noticeable.

Steel gaze followed the motion of the glasses to the conclusion of their resting place upon the table. The irritation with which they were removed only served to pull the corners of her mouth a little higher. There was a certain level of satisfaction that came with knowing you had gotten under someone's skin. And when that skin was from someone who was generally full of himself and haughty, the victory was oh so much more sweet.

"Touchy, touchy," she simpered with a throaty chuckle at his initial snapback, flicking her gaze back up to meet his. Chin still perched almost daintily upon her interlaced knuckles she shrugged a brow to his continued supposition. Obviously she did not have any hair dye, or any such helpful potion. Even if she did, she wasn't about to use it on him.

"Maybe," she said instead. Was she trying to ruin his life? No, of course not. But he had become very easy to tease when the situation was right, and he was so clearly uncomfortable here that the bait was altogether too tempting to pass up.

Pierre's arrival earlier had almost had her abandoning Jack at this table in order to say hello. But a voice had spoken in the back of her mind in an uncanny imitation of her mother, scolding her for such an insult. Plus Jack had already started speaking then, and it wouldn't have done well to cut him off from answering her own question, and so she had stayed.

As he continued, she allowed herself to drop her hands, and as he gestured at her figure, she leaned back in her chair as though perfectly on cue. Her fingers laced themselves together once again to rest upon her lap while legs crossed at the ankles to rest slightly off to one side. With her erect posture and shoulders back, she could very well have been the picture of a little lady had it not been for her modern attire. An ensemble of which her conversational partner seemed not to approve.

"Anti-Valentine's Day?" She echoed, once again cocking a brow as her crooked smirk reaffixed itself. "Not really. I don't mind people having their fun or using it as an excuse for going out or whatever it is that people do. I just don't really participate."

She gave a non-committal shrug. It wasn't a lie what she was saying. She didn't really participate beyond using it as an excuse to spend extra time with her mother as a sort of "girl's night" thing. He didn't need to know that, though. Just like he didn't need to know that the last time she had tried to hand out cutsie valentine's cards and candies to her classmates, she'd been the laughing stock of the school.

It wasn't until a particularly dreadful aura swept over her that she pulled her scrutinizing gaze away from Jack again. Hairs prickling the back of her neck and standing on end across her arms, she searched for the source. She'd felt this feeling once before at the pitch where they'd played the most recent S.W.A.G. game. There was only one stranger here now that had been there then -- the sickly asian girl who looked like something unpleasant sat beneath her nose. Evelynn's expression of amusement faltered as thoughts of a certain owlery encounter flashed fresh in her mind. She felt a very real desire to move her chair around to the other side of the table, to put what little distance she could between herself and that girl. To make sure she could always keep her within sight.

The panic was tempered somewhat, however, but a sort of soothing presence. Surely nothing would happen here. Not amidst so many students. Not with a professor on hand. Evelynn forced herself to take a steadying breath, tried to clear the girl from her mind. The arrival of Aurelia helped that effort. As did the arrival of Alan and the big one called Quinn of Healy. But with the arrival of Wren and Rafael, Evelynn wrinkled her nose and turned her attention back to Jack. Well, not so much Jack as the table in front of her. It was then that she was made acutely aware of what exactly she was doing. Sitting at a table. For tea. On Valentine's Day. With a boy. A Slytherin boy.

She couldn't have that.

"Yea…" The word drew from her lips like a groan of realization as she unfolded her ankles and made to get up. "I uh…" She cursed internally as a flush of rose crept its way up her neck. "I'm going to go get something to eat, I think."

Why was she telling him that? Who cares? She could have just got up without a word. She didn't need to explain herself. But she did. And as she took a rigid step away from the table, another voice -- cross with annoyance -- spoke up to counter her petty embarrassment, reminding her that she had approached him for a reason.

She needed his help.

With a groan, she slowed to a stop all of two feet from her chair. Hands dropping to pluck awkwardly at the pleats of her woolen dress, she swiveled back to face her crimson haired counter-part. "Did you want something?" she asked in an almost forced politeness. "From the table..?"

Hearing there would be another errand hosted by Professor Bercegeay and it was a very unique errand because you wouldn't need to work but to enjoy tea with other students and celebrate Valentine's Day! Those who participate would be rewarded with house points for simply joining the tea party. Who would pass this kind of golden chance? The Gryffindor Prefect decided to dress in an outfit that really fit in a party so she changed in another traditional but more casual Chinese outfit. This time she wore a silky rose-colored Qipao top with white blossoms patterns and a dark brown mini skirt.

Once she arrived at the small hall, her pastel grey eyes widen in surprise. "Wow...so many people already...", she whispered to herself in awe, amazed to see there were already a lot of students who participated in this errand. Perhaps some students took the chance to drink the delicious tea and eat those tasty biscuits, or perhaps some were just here to celebrate the festival for fun or just doing it for the house points. Well, for Griseldis it was a mix of all. She wanted to enjoy the tea and biscuits, would love to celebrate Valentine's Day and also earn some House points for her House. Last month the lions didn't win the House cup and their strikes ended with the ambitious snake. So hopefully, she could try to help earn more points for Gryffindor. She looked around, everywhere was decorated in pink, the same pink color as Professor Bercegeay's office. There were pink plush couches surrounding a variety of tables with teacups, plates of biscuits, she could smell the calming aroma from the warm tea around her. Then she saw the Professor dressed in a red floral dress that made her looked quite youthful and pretty.

Griseldis also told her close friend, Alan Noble about the errand and asked if he would be interested to join the errand and to her delight, he said yes. She walked towards a table and started to pour herself some red tea, then pour some milk into it and made it into milk tea. After that, she blew gently to cool it down a bit and drank it, "Hmm...lovely.", Griseldis praised the taste of her self-made milk tea and simply stood there near the table, waiting for her Ravenclaw friend to come. However, she wouldn't mind if someone came over to greet her for a nice chat though.

Logan realized that there were many students in the small hall at this point. She could tell that most of them did not think that the room was going to be so pink, as most of them could blend in with the table and chairs.

Finally, having enough of sitting by herself Logan got up to get herself some tea. She filled herself a cup of Earl Grey tea with plenty of sugar and a tad bit of honey. She turned and noticed a couple students that she thought she could actually talk to. With a deep breath, she took a step forwards and walked towards the table she thought she would be most comfortable yet.

"I hope I am not interfering," Logan spoke softly as she noticed the girl talking to the boy that was sitting down. "I was wondering if I would be able to sit here?" She tilted her head to the side a little and looked at the two as she held her cup in one hand and brushed her skirt down a little with the other. She was hoping not to seem rude by just walking over and asking to sit down, but she needed to actually make friends for once other than Elsian. Her hair brushed against her neck as a bit of it slid to cover part of her face as she thought about if she was being rude or not.

Logan tried to remember all of her lessons when it came to all of the 'parties' that she attended as a child, but honestly could not remember everything from the lessons.
