Aeron wasn’t exactly thrilled about herbology. When he first heard about the class, he thought it might be something like learning magical ingredients for potions or maybe cool plants that could paralyze enemies. Instead it turned out to be mostly about mud, weird smells and roots that liked to squirm when you touched them.

The greenhouse was hot when he stepped inside. few students were already there, standing around the tables, some chatting, some yawning. Aeron walked in slowly, looking around, with hands shoved in his robe pockets. There was dirt everywhere — on the floor, on the tables, even smeared on someone’s sleeve. He sighed quietly and found a spot near the back where he could see without being right up front.

The professor Sarai began talking about some magical plant — something with a ridiculous name like Bubotuber or Shrivelfig. Aeron tried to pay attention at first, but after a few minutes, his mind started drifting. His eyes felt heavy and he had hard time not to fall asleep

When professor said something he didnt hear aeron looked around and saw everyone wearing gloves so he took his gloves and with sigh put them on
“You’ve got to be kidding me” he muttered under his breath.

The student next to him — a Hufflepuff, judging by the yellow trim — tried not to laugh. Aeronjust ignored them. He sighed and went back to pretending he knew what he was doing. the plant would twitch or hiss and he’d pull his hand back fast.
The professor passed again, nodding approvingly like Aeron was actually doing fine. He straightened his posture, keeping his face calm. He wasn’t about to look clueless in front of everyone.

After what felt like hours, they were finally told to stop. Aeron’s gloves were covered in slime, his robes had stains and his hair was sticking to his forehead from the heat. He looked down at the plant

He muttered “Hope you die in that pot” under his breath then peeled off his gloves and dropped them on the table.
