2025/26 Stage 1 Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw: Match 4

Another duel, another great way to practice. Although Mylo's previous duels hadn't gone quite as well as they had hoped each time a spell didn't go off it taught them how to cast it better, every time a spell hit them it taught them how to better anticipate when the opponent would be casting their way, and each time their spell missed the mark it taught them how to be even more unpredictable with who they'd be aiming at.

Looking across the piste Mylo saw a familiar face amongst their opponents, and knew that as much as they wanted to win it would be a challenge, one they would gladly take on. Sere had proven quite the duellist in the unofficial duel he had moderated for her and he knew that even if they didn't win this would be a great opportunity to learn from her, from all of the Gryffindors stood in front of them.

Wishing everyone good luck Mylo got themselves ready, wondering what this duel would have in store for them.

There were always new things every time Sere stepped onto the duelling piste; even though the cold, bloodthirsty ground under her feet felt all too familiar. The first new thing was one of her teammates. He was a fourth-year student, a transfer from Koldovstoretz. No one knew much about Vladislav's performances, including Sere herself. She felt both curious and nervous about this.

The second new thing was facing Ravenclaw in an official duel. She had been on the Gryffindor duelling roster for over a year, had faced the Viridian Vipers and the Blazing Badgers, but this was her first time going up against the Murder of Merlin. Two of them were familiar faces, people she had pretty good impressions of as both moderators and fellow duellists. Yet, that made her a little bit more nervous for this match.

Her relief, besides having prepared herself as best as she could, was having Siobhan -once again- as her teammate. It was a familiarity Sere had never known she wanted. Calm down, Sere. Everything's gonna be fine. She smiled, eyes fixed on her opponent, "Do or die. Let's go!"

Siobhan was happy to see that Sere was back on her team, but it seemed that their usual trio member, Theo, had not rejoined them for another year of duelling. It saddened her just slightly. The three of them had been a spectacular team and despite everything going on with her vision- she had been excited to get back on the duelling piste and showcase her skills.

The new kid on their team, Vladislav, was a recent transfer to Hogwarts. She had no clue what his duelling skills were but she hoped that between her and Sere, they were enough to bring some pride to the Gryffindor house.

Sunday, October 19, 2025.
Afternoon.

Axyen was amazed with what just happened, this was the type of duel he was hoping to moderate—one that started off in an explosion. He did, of course, hope that nobody would end up too injured from this and he did not intend of getting hit himself but seeing something like this up close was incredible! First, was that Vladislav cast the Incendio Duo spell, hitting Mylo with it and setting them aflame and if Axyen was going to commentate... Let's give this my all! Axyen took a deep breath. And we're off to a fiery start! Mylo is on fire—literally!"

Axyen had to admit, seeing this so closely and not having to worry about dodging any spells yourself was an experience that was hard to explain. Next up, Sere and Siobhan would attempt to blind their opponents with the Obscuro spell, Axyen watched as both of them missed! Axyen didn't really want to comment on their misses, after all... He shook his head and continued to commentate on anything else.

Edward and Jessamine apparently didn't seem to have too much luck with their aim as well—that being said, he didn't fail to notice that they were all aiming their wands at Siobhan. "Woah, looks like team Ravenclaw is targeting Siobhan!" Axyen announced as Mylo aimed their wand at Siobhan. They cast the Cracker Jinx, a spell that Axyen got to see in action many times and today, he'd get to witness it without the need to dodge.

Axyen watched as the spell hit Siobhan directly, but the explosive nature of the spell seemed to have been too much as Vladislav was unable to dodge, whether it was a small force of the explosion or parts of the floors flying out was unknown to Axyen. He did seem to have gotten hit by it though, Axyen couldn't see much but the main force of the spell's impact but Sere seemed fine, maybe they didn't get hit. "Woaaah! What an explosive attack from Mylo! That definitely got Siobhan, I think it also got Vladislav as well!!" Axyen announced, he would need to speak swiftly before the next wave of spells.

"What an amazing start! The duel only gets more intense from here!" Axyen said excitedly, he hoped that he was telling the truth there—it would be a shame if the duel suddenly became boring out of nowhere. Axyen doubted that that would happen, the duelists from each team were probably going to work even harder to try and hit each other, he was sure of it!

For the first round of a duel it hadn't gone to badly, at least all of his teammates were still standing and from the look of things Mylo was the only one who had been hit. Although the fact that he had been hit was annoying Mylo knew that it wasn't the end of the duel, they had had enough practice at being hit with fire to ignore the pain it brought on and to keep going. It was only temporary anyway as magical healing was amazing, being able to heal so many things.

It also helped that their own spell had worked so much better than they had expected, especially for the fact that this was the first time he had used it in a high stake scenario. Not only had it hit the original target some of the debris or the blast had also managed to hit Vladislav, the person who Mylo believed was the cause of the flames surrounding them.

The duel was far from over though, so quickly thinking of a new strategy they hoped this duel would become another instance of great practice.
