Brielle couldn't think of the last time she had spoken to Gem; maybe 2 months? It was all so fuzzy to her that she couldn't remember what they had talked about last. She knew they had gotten into an argument, over something stupid like complimenting someone. Then she ran into his boyfriend in the library later that day. The whole situation was stupid now that she thought about it. She had been jealous, and that's all there was to it.╔═════ ∘◦ ⛧ミ ◦∘ ══════╗

Lately Brielle had been doing fine in her classes, getting mostly E's and the occasional O. All classes besides Transfiguration. The class wasn't hard persay, but it was boring as all hell to her. Staying awake and focusing in that class was a hard struggle for Brielle lately, perhaps due to lack of motivation to begin with.
She knew she had to get her act together somehow, and the only way to do that was through tutoring. Although Brielle wasn't fond of asking for help, there really was no other solution. Gem had agreed to helping her with Transfiguration, and seemed happy to reconnect with her; so what was there to worry about?
She had entered the study room somewhere around 6:00, taking a seat at a near-by table. There weren't many people in there yet, leaving the room quiet and still. She sat at an open bench, placing her bag down delicately on the table. She snuck a glance of the clock on the wall and then returned her eyes to her lap, her hands folded neatly. She didn't know when Gem would be showing up, but she hoped it would be soon.
She was starting to receive stares.

@Brielle GrayIt wasn't that he was always late, per se, it was more like he was always being held back by people - or his animal, or both. This time, it was, indeed, both.
He liked to freshen himself up after class, maybe take a nap or unwind with some music, but he supposed that wasn't going to happen today, thanks to the fat hunk of orange fur he knew as Basil. That cat wouldn't leave him alone, he'd cry, meow, (try to) crawl all over him, stepped on his face whenever he'd settle down on his bed, mess with his shoe laces-- whatever Gem tried to do, it was pulled away by Basil.
"Wot e' hell do you want!?" He hissed, keeping his voice down, "I've fed you already. I've given you all e' treats n' pets in the world, so wh-"
He was cut off with another loud, obnoxious meow.
"I don't have e' time for this." He exhaled, picking up all his notes, his book, and a few quills, shoving them into a bag so he didn't drop anything. "I've got to help Brielle, are you coming?" Instead of the bellowing cries that Basil usually offered, he gave but a small mewl, like he was saying yes. "Right, let's go then."
And go they did.
Gem knew he was already running late, so he hauled ass - only slowing down whenever he saw Basil unable to catch up. By the time he made it into the study room, he was more flustered about starting and stopping repeatedly than... people staring at Brielle. With a weird twist in his face, he side-stepped around a few tables and promptly wedged himself between the desk and the seat, smiling as if nothing happened.
"Sorreh about ehm... bein' late, he was bein' a needy little shite-" He gestured at Basil, who hopped on the table and grand-slammed his face against Brielle's, immediately looking for her attention. "You see wot I've got to deal wiv every day? It's a giant blob of orange, harassing me. Constantly. It never ends."
What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.
