A cool morning breeze swept across the grounds bringing with it the rich scent of wet grass and the faint wild musk of the creatures beginning to stir. Overnight, the Care of Magical Creatures grounds had been shifted into a cozy, well‑arranged exhibition that felt alive with quiet anticipation. He created it to a point of making it comfortable for both the students and the creatures.

Off to his left, a heavy iron cage was tucked beneath the dappled shade of a hawthorn tree and nearby, a restless flurry of Doxies darted and spun... their beetle-like wings caught the sunlight in quick. Every so often, one would let out a sharp hiss or a high‑pitched chitter at anyone who dared to lean too close, baring its double row of sharp teeth in warning. A small sign at the front explained their habits and diet, along with a very clear note about the necessity of wearing protective gloves before even thinking about handling them.

Just a little further on a small pen sat bathed in soft morning light, the ground inside scattered with fresh hay and two Mooncalves wandered there. They moved with an unhurried grace as they nibbled at their feed. Their bulging blue eyes would occasionally lift toward the gathered students, watching with a shy and bashful curiosity. One would pause mid‑chew, tilting its head back to peer at the sky as if expecting the moon to be hanging there, even in the bright daylight. Akeem had built a low wooden fence around the pen to give the gentle creatures a sense of safety and security. Few students lingered nearby, while holding sketchbooks and quietly trading whispers about the way the Mooncalves moved, as though afraid to disturb their calm.

Akeem’s pride and caution were both on display, he had set up a small glass container on the table and a single air hole at the top allowing its occupants to breathe. Inside lived Mr Fox and Lady Love Angel, the Acromantulas he carefully kept. Mr Fox clung to the side of the container, his eight eyes on the shifting crowd beyond. Lady Love Angel sat poised at the heart of an intricate web. They were calm now, thanks to the hearty meal Akeem had given them earlier. He knew from experience that a well‑fed Acromantula was far less inclined to test the limits of his patience

Near the edge of the trees, a roped‑off clearing cradled the most enchanting sight of the day. A unicorn stood there, its coat bright as fresh‑fallen snow and its mane lifted and fell with the breeze. It lowered its head to graze, entirely at ease despite the small crowd gathered to watch. For many that alone was enough to steal their breath, but for the few who could see beyond the veil, the scene held more—two Thestrals lingered in the shadows and their skeletal forms and leathery wings was a stark counterpoint to the unicorn’s radiance. They moved with grace and their pale clouded eyes sweeping over the onlookers. There was no menace in them as they remained expressionless.

Akeem moved among the students—answering their questions while offering tidbits of lore and occasionally reminding them to keep their hands to themselves. The purpose of this was to educate them that magical creatures needed care despite how fearsome they can be. The sun ascended the grounds buzzed with quiet excitement. Quills scratched against parchments and there was an occasional gasp of wonder rose from the crowd.

Could've done with a bit more proofreading and polishing, but my brain is just a bit too tired XD
Emily couldn't remember the last time she ran for her life for anything. Did it really matter if she didn't? Probably not! Not when the best thing in the world that she could ever ask to be a part of was knocking on her doorstep. She hadn't even arrived to where it was being held yet and already she was bouncing out of her shell about it.

Becoming Third Year gifted Emily a few new perks; Hogsmeade being one of them. Opportunities to learn advanced magic was another. At the centrefold was the elective classes she now had the joy to choose and study from. At long last, her raison d'être was finally within her grasp - Magical Creature lessons.

It was no secret that Emily was the biggest animal lover she knew. A humble brag. The fascination for magical creatures, beasties hiding in the forest and everything in between was guaranteed to make the Huffie spiral in excitement and in some ways, obsession. Since finding her first unicorn all the way back in First Year and the werewolf night at Tesla's estate over the summer before the new term had started, Emily was more than eager to keep up the thrills of the beings and critters she shared the wizarding world with. It was torture waiting this long before being able to take Care of Magical Creature classes - not taking advantage of everything it had to offer would be something Emily would most likely be spending her life regretting.

And man, have those lessons been worth it. Every lesson was like spending an hour in heaven for the Huffie. Definitely a class she counted the days for - not like Transfiguration, where she was counting down how long before Doomsday. Emily couldn't describe it without sounding so hyperbolic... This class best represented the spirit of everything Emily loved and wanted to protect.

Which was why she was now sprinting down the halls of the school, weaving in between stagnant students milling about during their free time as she rushed towards the creature grounds where Professor Toussaint had supposedly planned an exhibition of sorts to showcase a few of the animals. Emily sprinted like her life depended on it. It wasn't a case of wanting to be there, or even needing to be there... She simply would be, answering to the pull of her desire.

"Pardon me-- Coming through-- Hi Scoutie-- Bye Scoutie--!" She flew past her best friend as she reached outside. "Colin! I can't today-- I have somewhere to be!" She managed to ruffle the hair of her woofy friend in passing as she zoomed across the courtyard.

When the enclosure came into view, Emily made a final dash until she at long last arrived, stopping dead as her eyes shined with the sights of all the weird and wonderful creatures Professor Toussaint had on display. She was in awe at everything her eyes fell upon, especially the mooncalves, whom Emily had been dying to see since coming across their name in a textbook she couldn't quite remember the name of. She edged towards them and smiled, giving them a little wave as they slowly blinked at her. Adorable! And a unicorn! Almost eerily similar to the one Emily found in the forest on that night, the memory of which gave Emily another wave of giddiness.

Emily sprung back up when she met eye contact with Professor Toussaint. "Oop-- Pardon my eagerness! Emily Shephard, reporting for cutie-- I mean, duty!" she grinned bashfully.

It was the day! The day Professor Toussaint would hold an exhibition, letting students meet Magical Creatures. When Rosaline first saw this event, she thought she definitely needed to go there. She had been excited ever since she heard about it. She loved animals and Magical Creatures. Though she didn’t have many chances to see actual Magical Creatures before this year, she got to see them at the Summer Camp. It was an experience one would never forget. Her heart was pounding as she made her way to the grounds where the exhibition was held, almost skipping with elation.

Her eyes widened and her mouth fell open in astonishment when she arrived. There were so many Magical Creatures she had never seen before. She soon regained her usual poise, yet her blue eyes still shone with the light of her enthusiasm for all the creatures. She was glad she could take part in this event because she was a first-year and hadn’t had the opportunity to attend the Care of Magical Creatures.

The creatures were divided into several sections by their species. Rosaline looked around curiously. She recognized all their names. Her understanding of them all came from books; it was quite strange to see them in person. She wondered around the grounds, observing these beings at a distance; it was better not to be too close. Doxies were kept in a cage; they seemed energetic and didn’t rest for a single moment. Two Mooncalves were in an area; they just ambled about at their leisure, occasionally nibbling at the feed. Their eyes were so big and cute. Rosaline was amazed by them. She stood there for a while, just watching them walk and stare at the sky. Then she moved on to the next part of this exhibition. She saw a glass container from far away, and she moved closer and saw two Acromantulas. She marveled in awe, not in fear. They were so rare to see. Although the Acromantulas and Rosaline were set apart from the glass, they were still intimidating to her. She knew rationally that she should not be afraid of them, yet she shivered a little when their eight eyes looked into her eyes on such a fine day. They were extremely beautiful but also dangerous.

She slightly shook her head to come back to reality, took a deep breath, and turned around. A Unicorn appeared before her eyes. It felt almost like a dream. She couldn’t take her eyes off its beauty. Mesmerized. Deciding to look more closely at the Unicorn, she walked closer and noticed Professor Toussaint passing by. Suddenly, she found that she had been here for a while and hadn’t properly greeted Professor Toussaint, her face flushed a little. She came nearer and said, “Hello Professor, I’m Rosaline Everhart. I’m here to participate in the event. Thank you for holding this exhibition!” Her smile was sheepish. A snow-white mane drifted into her field of vision, and she couldn’t resist the urge to shift her gaze to the Unicorn. “It is so beautiful…” She said it without noticing.

Cade hadn't known the exhibition was today. He was ill informed about many events going on at Hogwarts, if he was being honest. A lot of the time he had his nose pressed firmly against the pages of his books, hardly coming up for air before delving into it again. There was a reason for this. After being taken out of school for a year by his parents, he felt obligated to catch up with his friends. If only so he could talk about whatever they had learned of while not feeling completely left out during their discussions at the Ravenclaw table in the Great Hall. Therefore, it was a nasty surprise when he saw not one, but two Acromantulas creeping along the Care of Magical Creatures grounds. A nasty shock swept through him as his step faltered. He didn't like spiders. He wasn't a fan of their long legs or their beady eyes. But from what he's read about these creatures from Mystical Creatures club in his first and second year they were quite dangerous. He'd heard from a sixth year that there lived a colony in the Forbidden Forest. He was even attacked by them in his third year. And as a result, Cade never quite got over his fears.

Still, he felt compelled to approach. As his eyes caught sight of various creatures within the surrounding area. And as no one seemed particularly alarmed about a sudden Acromantula attack, Cade surmised that this must have been a planned event. He would make a wide circle around Mr Fox and Lady Love Angel, instead attracted to the cage of Doxies. They seemed rather agitated but keen on making a show of themselves, chittering deviously as Cade approached. Cade would pull out his sketchbook from his satchel, suddenly inspired to draw a likeness of the strange little imps.

Glancing around he noticed Professor @Akeem Toussaint was quite occupied greeting two girls he didn't know. Questions could always wait. He would settle himself here, taking his time to get the proportions just right, which proved a difficult affair, his subjects did not make the best models.

She's addicted to the feeling of letting go...
Care of Magical Creatures
Isabella woke up slowly as the morning sunlight peeked through her window. She really didn’t want to get out of bed. It was warm and cozy, and the thought of facing the chilly air outside made her want to stay wrapped in her blankets. But then she remembered the promise she had made to herself. To try new things and get involved at school. Today was the day of the Care of Magical Creatures exhibition, and she didn’t want to miss it.

With a deep breath, Isabella pushed the covers aside and got up. She dressed quickly, choosing a white crop top and white jeans. Since the morning was cold, she put on a long brown sweater to keep warm. She looked at herself in the mirror, her hair messy but not caring much about how it looked today. She put in a simple ponytail. Today was about being present, not perfect.

When Isabella arrived at the grounds, she immediately saw Rosaline Everhart standing near one of the pens. Rosaline was one of her friends, and seeing her here made Isabella feel a little more excited. She walked toward her, weaving between the small group of students.

As she got closer, Isabella leaned in and placed her chin gently on Rosaline’s shoulder. “Rosa!” she teased, her voice low and warm. “What are you doing?” she asked curiously. Around them, the magical creatures moved quietly. The Mooncalves wandered slowly in their pen, and the Doxies buzzed inside their cage, their tiny wings flashing in the sunlight. The glass container holding the Acromantulas caught the light, and Isabella watched as the spiders moved carefully in their webs.

Isabella felt glad she had gotten out of bed after all. The morning was cold, but the excitement of the magical creatures and the company of her friend made her forget about the chill. She smiled and looked forward to exploring the exhibition with Rosaline.

It was a brisk morning the dew still clinging to the grass, glistening in the morning sun. Kafelé stood just far enough away to make out the exhibition. He had heard that the Care of Magical Creatures Professor had set this up and was inviting students to attend. Some third year students mentioned there would be magical creatures at the exhibition. Kafelé was overjoyed he had always wanted to see a hippogriff. They were his favorite magical creature he had read about so far. He was so excited he could barely contain himself. However he had a friend he had made since coming to hogwarts. A friend that had expressed an interest in Care of Magical Creatures. Kafelé had previous to coming here went to the owlery. He sent an owl to his friend Aisling asking if she would like to come with him. Since they both wanted to be in the class alot he figured it would be nice to get a glimpse of some magical creatures and ask Professor Toussaint questions together. Kafelé stood their wrapped in his winter cloak and had on his dragonhide gloves. His pink earmuffs were fitted loosely on his head so to keep him warm but he would still be able to hear well. Practically bouncing with excitement he looked back toward the school to see if he could spot Aisling approaching.

Saying that Aisling was excited for the Care for Magical Creatures exhibition would be beyond an understatement. The night before, she went to bed early so that there was no way she'd sleep in and accidentally miss it. Pure excitement was running through her veins as she put on a yellow and lilac sweater. She decided to let her ginger hair down in its natural waves. By the time she was done getting ready, she dashed out of the Hufflepuff Common Room and directly toward the exhibition.

The cool autumn breeze brushing up against her face woke up any part of Aisling that was still lethargic. Her running slowed down to a brisk walk once she saw how close she was to the exhibition. She saw Kafelé near the entrance and smiled at him. "Hey," she greeted him as she got closer. Once she was next to him, Aisling stopped walking. She glanced over at the exhibition about to begin before looking back at Kafelé. "They didn't start yet, did they?" she asked, "I really hope I didn't miss anything." She looked back over at the exhibition again. Many of the creatures that Professor @Akeem Toussaint was tending to were brand new to her, but a couple of them looked familiar. One of them was a unicorn. The other one, however, was a little less beloved, to say the least. "Are ... are those doxies?" she asked, gesturing to one of the cages.

Kafelé smiled when he saw his friend excitedly approaching. Aisling came to a stop next to Kafelé taking in the sight of the exhibition before us. "i dont think its started yet." Kafelé reached into his robes and procured two chocolate frogs still in the wrapping. "Here, i brought one for you to. I...if y..y.you want it." he offered with a blush forming across his cold touched cheeks. He handed Aisling a chocolate frog before opening and eating his own. He hadnt had breakfast being to excited to stop before coming out. After eating his frog Kafelé showed off his card. "Oh i got Gulliver Pokeby syas he lived from 1750 to 1839 he was an expert on magical birds. Also the first to identify meaning of Augurey song. Thats so neat."
He smiled cheerfully at Aisling taking a step forward. Lets go meet the unicorn Aisling. Im soo excited, do you think there will be any hippogriffs, ooh what about a fairy like Anna said she saw in Ireland?" In his excitement for magical creatures Kafelé forgot the worries of the world. In this moment he seemed like any normal kid no signs of timidness. Only the look of pure joy and childish wonder written across his face.

"Awesome," Aisling said, "I did not want to miss any of this." She smiled as she took one of the chocolate frogs. "Thank you," she said, "you're so thoughtful!" She looked at the card that Kafelé was showing off. She furrowed her eyebrows. "Probably a stupid question," she said, "but uh ... what is an Augurey?" That was new to her, let alone that whatever it was had a song.

Aisling opened the chocolate frog that Kafelé gave her. She was greeted with a pale, pot-bellied man winking and giving a thumbs-up. "Mine's Hengist of Woodcroft," she said, as she was reading the card's biography, "I guess he established a place called ... Hogsmeade." She had heard of that place in passing before, mainly from the upperclassmen, something that sounded like craic, as they said back in Ireland, from what Aisling could pick up on. She glanced back up at Kafelé. "Have you ever been there?" she asked him.

Part of Aisling felt like such a dunce. Her not knowing what an Augury is or what Hogsmeade is like pretty much gave away that she was very much a fish out of water when it came to the wizarding world. What else will give it away that I don't know much about non-Muggle things? she thought.

"Im not sure what an Augurey is but maybe Professor @Akeem Toussaint can tell us about them. I would like to know what they are as well. he stated with a smile as he took another step gesturing for her to follow. He had read a great number of books but didnt have much reference material on magical animals. His textbook was the majority of his knowledge in this regard. It was his lack of this knowledge that had him eyeing the Professor like an all you can eat buffet of knowledge. Aisling had asked Kafelé about hogsmeade because of the card she got from the chocolate frog. I have been to hogsmeade a couple times i have a permission form to go. Its actually where i got the chocolate frogs. They have a sweet shop there called Honeydukes that is so wonderful. I could grab you some sweets next time i go if you want." Kafelé happily talked about the sweet shop. Seeing movement at the Exhibition Kafelé looked to Aisling. With the sounds of the magical creatures filling the air. The scent of the animals and hints of their feed clung in the air. He spoke with a welcoming tone and smiled.Come lets go see the animals Aisling. He slowly started walking with Aisling towards the animals and the professor.
