GROUP 5
@Jerry Brown,@Ada Hawkins,@Akerrah Kone,@Ruby Diumme,@Anna Blackberry,@Pyce Rotanski
The small hall is split into a maze of smaller rooms, their doors lie every few feet, labelled with the number of the group meant to be in it. Each member who had found the place would find their name on a large whiteboard near the entrance to the hall, their name corresponding to their room number. If they tried to enter the wrong room, they would find the door to be locked, and only their door would open to them.

The door slides shut as the last member of your crew steps in. A sudden darkness takes possession of your every step, and your eyes need a few seconds to adjust. Slowly, some features are revealed to you. Some forms and shapes of what seem to be the outline of various furnitures lies ahead, yet the light doesn't allow you to fully see them. A green-ish glow casts itself over the room, and after a few moments, you manage to locate its source. Algae filaments ornate the cobbled stone walls, and if you squint, you could almost swear they're forming.... words? Along another wall lies algae in strange patterns.
____ ___ ______, ____ ____ __ ______,
___ ________ ____—___ __ __ ___.
A low humming is heard from every corner of the room, and softly, a voice is singing an unknown song.
Come seek us where the torches glow,
Within the castle, far below.
Where shadows feasts and silence calls,
Not great, but lesser halls.

Pearls and gold awaits inside,
Treasure torn from those who died...
It's tone is deep, slow, and shivers start running down your spine. A strong sensation takes place within your stomach, and your eyelids grow heavier and heavier. Suddenly, it stops abruptly, and silence rises. It seems to be... waiting for something...listening for something? After a minute, a loud sigh is heard, and the song begins again.

Akerrah did not know really what to do or expect at something like this: a ball. It seemed like something out of a fairy tale. She wore a simple black dress well pressed. Surely, there were fancier frocks about, but her family could never afford anything remotely like that. She thought about her father's taxi cab as she had stood on the stairs overlooking a crowd that she suspected had no idea what a taxi even was.

And now, she'd walk into this room with even more people she did not know and have to try to work with them. She hoped they were nice. So far, she didn't know too much about the English.

The room was dark, very dark. It was not a feeling she particularly liked, and she knew she had no flash light except her wand—oh, yes, that spell from last year. But then a thin green light spread over the space. And then—

words—

—in English.

"*Merde," she let out. Squinting and reading it at least three times over, she could deduce this was a riddle in English. Merde, indeed. There was no way she would ever figure this out. She looked around to see if one her companions might have an idea. In the absence of one, she'd reach and touch one of letters in case that did anything.
*Shit

Anna Blackberry had been really uneasy about this. A escape game? Trapped with people she doesn't know?... Each time more, she regretted coming here. However, she could not back up now. What had motivated her to do this was the desire for some new experiences, something that put her out of her comfort zone. Along with going to her first school ball, she thought, maybe she should also try something as unknown as this. But when the time began to approach, she began to feel more resistant to that, even a little ill. But she thought if she wasn't brave now, maybe she would never get to be, and this event would loom over her head as the reminder of a failure for a long time. Because of this, Anna puffed her chest, feigning fearlessness, and entered the castle. The endless maze of corridors felt dizzying, but also homely. Her grandmother's house was much like this; a few wrong turns in the way to the bedroom and you somehow end up in the courtyard. Nostalgic memories of her family's gentle love flooded her like a warm embrace, and gave her courage to continue. Her grandmother would used to advise Anna to go after new things to do even if she's scared, as they might turn out to be enjoyable, or you might turn out to be talented at them. If not, then at least you may understand something new about yourself, and gain the most valuable type of knowledge: experience.
The little dark-haired explored took a few wrong turns before finally stepping in front of the door she was supposed to enter in. Her bravery waived, and once again the discomfort of trying anything new paralyzed her for a second. She hated novelty. She hated surprises. She hated being scared. She hated situations which she had no clear script to follow, no clear action to take. She hated pressure. She hated everything this was about but she had already gotten this far, should she really give up knowing so many of her relatives would be so proud of her for being brave?
No. "Besides," she rationalized to herself, refusing to process her feelings, "this is not real danger. It's just a safe game the school prepared, it's not in any way dangerous, I won't be alone and it'll be like any other riddle solving like I always did with my father."
Fear loomed over her like a physical force holding her by the arms, by the waist, by the torso, by the legs. Before it consumed her, she took quick action and flung the door wide open with much more strength than necessary.
"Hello!!", she exclaimed loudly with a smile to the whole entire population of the room. Which was a single girl, at the moment.
It was dark. So dark. It involved Anna in an embrace swiftly and coldly. What an unpleasant feeling. She didn't particularly care for darkness, but she wasn't bothered by it, either. After her particularly loud entrance, she stayed still for a few seconds, attempting to get her eyes adapted to the low-light environment. It took a little while to get used to the lack of light, but soon she noticed the green glowing light of the room, and began to walk towards it, near the other girl that would be Anna's teammate for this escape game.
"Hello! Are you going to be my teammate? Nice to meet you!"
Then she heard...words. Singing, humming beautiful mysterious words which perhaps could serve as a tip of sorts?
"Do you know what any of that means?"
Anna kept a smile, and adjusted her earmuffs, which hung on her shoulders. She knew she was likely not going to have any problems relating to loud noises, but it was just there for comfort. This situation didn't seem too bad right now; the little Blackberry liked riddles, and she really liked talking to other people. If put her focus on that, surely she would get to stabilize her breath and calm her rapid heart.
"This place actually looks pretty cool...", she thought, looking around.

The Maze like corridors and hallways were all quite confusing, and Ada almost got lost at least twice before she found the room with a glistening number five. An escape room, how exiting! Ada though. Though she was quite nervous, she tried to look confident as she pushed open the wooden door to room five.

The room was dimer then the hallway and she had to wait for her eyes to adjust before stepping farther into the room. Two girls were in the room already. "Lumos" Ada said softly under her breath. her wand tip ignited, casting a soft glow over the floor.

"Um, hi." Ada said awkwardly waving with her free hand. Both of the girls looked older than her by at least a year which made her feel twice as uncomfortable. One of the girls was smiling which eased her nerves slightly.

"So...your my teammates?" Ada said, half as a statement, half as a question. Her usual confidence with words had seemed to just vanish. A soft green glow on the wall distracted Ada from her conversation. A low quiet humming from the corner of the room, sending an eerie shiver down her spine. It sounded like some sort of code or riddle.

"Do either of you know what that means?"

MOD POST - GROUP 5
The room was lit up in light. Enough to show the room they were crammed into quite clearly. Nonetheless, @Ada Hawkins would find her wand lighting up brightly illuminating everything around her. This allowed the group to see more details such as the door they came through now faded and almost "hidden" in the wall. There was no leaving for now. After all this was an escape room, all that they had to do could be found here.It would just take a few trial and error and a bit of luck as well it seemed.

While the light shone on everything, the algae seemed to shrink from it, sliding back and blending into the foliage of the wall. Whatever semblance of "words" that were not even clear as to what they were before, were now even less so. No, this algae thrived in darkness. Something that could be especially noticable once someone was not paying too much attention to the words of the song due to not understanding English as well, and instead focused on their surroundings (@Akerrah Koné - that is not to say anyone else won't notice, this is noticable to EVERYONE in the room as of now.)

Note:Casting a spell is considered your action. This is a moderated event, please do not assume your succes, no matter how likely it is.
Note 2: I am aware this is a bit early given that the thread opened on Tuesday and I apologize for that, but this was done as to then keep on track with the every Saturday mod post schedule as much as possible. (as during the week it is less likely I'll be able to get the mod posts done)

Pyce was not having the best time, if they were being honest. Originally, when they saw the flyer for the fall ball, their first thought was that they were going to get a quiet night in their common room.

But no. Come October 4th, Pyce had been forcibly dressed up by their overly excited twin and pulled into the festivities. Of all themes, Pyce would have rathered anything that wasn't aquatic, but they at least found amusement in the name of the thing. The Enchanted Depths. The name made Pyce think of their favorite movie, and it was the only distraction Pyce had from being surrounded by so. Much. Water.

Despite this being Hecate's idea, Pyce had wound up on their lonesome, wandering around and trying not to think too hard about where they were. At the very least, Hecate had the good nature to sign Pyce up for an escape room, something that was greatly appreciated.

So Pyce was in a room with complete strangers. They observed the room quietly, fiddling with a card in their pocket. It had been handed to them earlier, back when they boarded the ship, but they had been too queasy to try and read it. And now, they were too distracted by the haunting song floating through the air, as well as the general darkness of the room. For the first time since this ball had began, Pyce finally felt like they could relax.

The British were cold. Despite an overly excited hello and several queries about whether these people were in fact team mates, no one had dropped a name or a spell or even a clue as to what to do. She just looked around at them, shoulders shrugged, disappointed. She shook her head for she knew no more than they did.

She just stared at the words, hoping sheer persistence would change something. Of course, it did not. But if she couldn't focus on the letters, she found her mind honing in on the algae itself. It was heavy and dark. And it seemed to simply love it here—except when the light from one of the girl's spells shone closer. It took a few seconds for it to click in her head, but once she had, it was clear as day: they needed more light. A second Lumos was easy enough, but she'd learned something recently even stronger: "Lumos Solem."

And she stepped back slightly, awaiting the full concentrated power of the sun to burst forth, hopefully providing some answers. And ideally, it wouldn't yet blind them either. "This might be—how do you say?—bright?" she addressed them all as she waited for the spell to erupt from her wand. Her spells had never been particularly powerful, but she felt it best to prepare them in any case. And maybe it might grant them some information too.

MOD POST - GROUP 5
Aside from Ada Hawkins' earlier Lumos (that is still ongoing), apparently someone wanted to cast an even bigger light, as @Akerrah Koné succeeded quite a bit with that. The algae would shriek if they could honestly as they retreated more, and the layer of them covering the words were almost not visible anymore at all, making the earlier "gaps" for words even less visible.

It was clear by now, hopefully at least, that light was not the way to go. If anything, the algae were trying to make it quite clear, enchanted or not, that whatever this "environment" was, they preferred to be back in the lake by now, most likely.

Still, the light only illuminated the whole place once more, even more powerful than before, and yet they would find that the clues were not really in the furniture, ceiling, walls, floor, or really anywhere in the room, at least not with how the whole room was bathed in light now.
Well, no time like today to either do some small talk in a fully lit room, or try to figure out another way to coerce the algae to work alongside them, unless they had any other ideas to sort this puzzle out?

Anna observed as two of her teammates cast Lumos in an attempt of trying to see what the algae were hiding... But it didn't seem to work. As a matter of fact, the plants were shrieking further away and blocking the visibility even more.
"It is pretty bright," she agreed after her teammate casted an even brighter light than her other teammate, "but it doesn't seem to be what the algae wants. Maybe it likes darkness more."
That made sense to her... Despite not knowing as many spells as she'd like to, surely Anna could help trying to think something up? She would hate to be unhelpful or powerless in a situation like this. It was also unsettling to her that her biggest issue right now was a plant, and even though she loved plants so much, she couldn't quickly figure something out. She was always so focused on flowers and other earth plants that she failed to pay as much attention to plants that had its main habitat in the water.
"Well... Algae mostly lives deep underwater, right? That's what it should be used to, so maybe we should focus on making this place as homely to the algae as possible so they'll open way to whatever's written there? I... I don't have many ideas, sorry...", she admitted the last part with some shame on her voice, "but maybe one of you can help? Would an aguamentia spell help, or...? No, a revelio would be too obvious... But even so..."
She put her hand on her chin, thoughtful. A revelio would be too obvious, but maybe it was supposed to be obvious as their first step? But since it's a challenge, it may as well be hard from the beginning. It wouldn't hurt to try, but Anna had yet to learn the spell itself, so even this fleeting attempt was out of her reach. Aguamentia, too, was far above her level. Not having the means to follow any of the suggestions she just made felt uncomfortable, but... It's not like she'd always know every spell or know everything. And, more importantly, maybe someone had an idea that was better developed. Deferring to group thinking might help... Especially since it's a group game.
"Let's try to think something up. What do you all think we should try?"
