@Joseph Sims Perfect example of how different every state can be is by the way they talk, or even sound imo. When I was in my teens, I learned that my state had an accent (albeit a very subtle one). So subtle even I still can't tell if I have it or not. But every time I was outside the state, the locals there (especially if I was visiting NYC) would be like, "Where are you from?" bc it was obvious I wasn't from New York

@Avery Gray Tbf, I thought I came off as someone who wasn't a local (at least when I've travelled to NYC) was because I just gave off touristy vibes. There have only been two times when I didn't look like an absolute tourist and/or part of a school field trip:
1. When my ex-bf and I went to see a few of his friends who lived in Queens. Then again, we also went to the Museum of Natural Science when we visited them, so I guess it was kind of touristy.
2. When I went to watch one of my sisters dance with her college classmates at this studio in...oh god I don't remember what borough. But I do remember that my sister absolutely SLAYED!
Every other time I've been to NYC (or even New Jersey since I was there kinda recently), it has been the definition of tourism.
@Kaitlyn Connor Ayy!

I think I'm good at understanding accents. What region of the world is it in (without invading on your privacy ofc)?Joseph Sims wrote: 18 Oct 2025, 04:48 Omw accentsI'm 99% sure if I spoke to yall in real life my brain wd momentarily short circuit cus of the accent

@Joseph Sims Oh, okay! I only know of a few accents in that region (mainly Indian and Indonesian), but I might've heard it around

I don't think we're particularly hard to understand, unless we throw in colloquial termsAisling Doyle wrote: 18 Oct 2025, 04:56 @Joseph Sims Oh, okay! I only know of a few accents in that region (mainly Indian and Indonesian), but I might've heard it around
