bruises burst abroke
To George, a journey of discovery invariably involved bothering as many people as one could as much as possible, or secluding yourself wholly and bothering nobody but yourself. The former method was preferable, in this case - for producing a guide book - while the latter method was best used for reading them. Journeys under his leadership weren't normally so structured, however, and so this adventure piqued an interest that others did not, and George already felt invested more than he felt sore from falling out of a tree. He pressed on his nose, smoothing the bandage out and wincing as it drove a needling pain back into his skin. The cost of a good opportunity, he wagered.
"I can read books if you don't like them," he volunteers. He'd dog-eared the first half of his copy of Hogwarts - A History while waiting for the Hogwarts Express, and finished it swiftly after, although he had to restart it when it was called upon in class as he had no recollection of any of what he'd heard beyond things he could repeat to the other boys in the dorm. Speculations and facts quickly became muddled, and all of a sudden a full room of boys had been convinced that there was some kind of secret Hufflepuff society pulling the strings at Hogwarts. "Ghosts once, I imagine - I doubt they'll learn anything new in our years that they didn't already know. They've been dead a good long while, longer than we've been alive, even. It's a bit grim. Places to go - there's an old copy of the school newspaper I think with some of that stuff in it, the secret rooms. And... people... I guess everybody? But maybe bother them, and the portraits, more often. They move a bit quicker than the ghosts do, being as they are. Uh, you know. Alive."
The concept of a living portrait came very naturally to him, somehow. They weren't all that unlike televisions. Maybe computers were a more apt analogy, now, where you could talk to the image on the screen and it would talk back to you. Only there was no screen, just canvas and magic, although the difference between the magic in the canvas and the magic in computer was just about nothing from the perspective of a first-year Muggle-born.
His eyes lit up with curiosity when he saw the girl pull out her notebook, though she made a sour look at it that made him confused. "You brought a notebook? Did you know this would happen?" He'd been doing too much studying ahead about divination, too. He held a keen interest in knowing what would happen in the future, although that alone hadn't been enough to motivate him to keep a schedule.
"We need at least... the professors, I guess... I'll read history of Hogwarts again... and we can bother an older kid, maybe, for more ideas. We still sort of need- can we get a list of all the rooms and just - start off with visiting them? Maybe one by one - oh, we'll need a friend from the other houses! We can't get into their rooms!" He strokes his chin with his thumb, humming. He didn't want to have to give up authorship credit to anyone else. Perhaps they'd accept acknowledgements. "I can write down what's in the boys' dorms and tell you. That might need to be secret for now, before we decide whether we want to publish it. I just mostly want to know what the girls dorms look like, to see if ours are better."@Asteria Kurokawa
