Partner Assignment
Elizabeth couldn't say that she enjoyed History of any kind. Even her own History put her to sleep. The fact that they were an assignment with partners didn't make it any better. What's more, she was partnered up with the moodiest looking Slytherin kid she had ever seen. He had a scowl on his face, and he wouldn't look at her when she talked.
"So... what do you wanna do for the assignment?" She asked awkwardly. He answer. "My name is Elizabeth Down... what's yours?" Again he didn't answer. Elizabeth almost thought he was deaf, before telling herself that there was absolutely no way.
He had obviously heard the professor, otherwise he'd still be at his desk.
Elizabeth decided that he was just shy and was ignoring her, so she decided leave him alone. She opened her book to a random page that spoke about the invention of the broomstick, and Elizabeth read through it and figured this was a good place to start for research, and began to flip through more pages for more information.
Eventually her partner started flipping through his book to, and would every so often jot down notes.
Elizabeth decided to try again. "So," she said quietly, not looking up from her book. "What is your name?"

@Elizabeth Down
Jack snorted in amusement as he watched a Gryffindor girl try to talk to a scowling, silent Slytherin boy. He didn’t seem to want to answer her for some reason, which only made the red-headed Slytherin snicker. That girl really seemed determined to get through to him for a bit before finally appearing to give up and turn to a page in her history book.
Now unlike Elizabeth, History was actually Jack’s favorite subject. Not that he was likely to make that common knowledge. Eventually, he got to his feet and went over to Elizabeth, still laughing softly under his breath.
"I don't think he's going to be much help," Jack told Elizabeth with a smirk. "I normally like to work alone myself, but since I like your tenacity, I'll help you out this once. Name's Jack."
He went around to tell the tight-lipped Slytherin boy he could leave before Jack took his place next to Elizabeth. Leaning over to glance at the page she had opened to, he asked, "Sooo...you want to research and write a report on the invention of the broomstick...?"
Absently brushing his feather quill against the underside of his jaw, he considered that for a topic. "Could be interesting...we could compare how broomsticks are both things that muggles and wizards use, but write about the point at which their uses diversified and why. That sound good to you?"
