The Drowned Palace

GROUP 6

The small hall is split into a maze of smaller rooms, their doors lie every few feet, labelled with the number of the group meant to be in it. Each member who had found the place would find their name on a large whiteboard near the entrance to the hall, their name corresponding to their room number. If they tried to enter the wrong room, they would find the door to be locked, and only their door would open to them.
The door slides shut as the last member of your crew steps in. A sudden darkness takes possession of your every step, and your eyes need a few seconds to adjust. Slowly, some features are revealed to you. Some forms and shapes of what seem to be the outline of various furnitures lies ahead, yet the light doesn't allow you to fully see them. A green-ish glow casts itself over the room, and after a few moments, you manage to locate its source. Algae filaments ornate the cobbled stone walls, and if you squint, you could almost swear they're forming.... words? Along another wall lies algae in strange patterns.A low humming is heard from every corner of the room, and softly, a voice is singing an unknown song.____ ___ ______, ____ ____ __ ______,
___ ________ ____—___ __ __ ___.It's tone is deep, slow, and shivers start running down your spine. A strong sensation takes place within your stomach, and your eyelids grow heavier and heavier. Suddenly, it stops abruptly, and silence rises. It seems to be... waiting for something...listening for something? After a minute, a loud sigh is heard, and the song begins again.Come seek us where the torches glow,
Within the castle, far below.
Where shadows feasts and silence calls,
Not great, but lesser halls.
Pearls and gold awaits inside,
Treasure torn from those who died...

OOC NOTESReducio- Intended deadline and Mod Post and Rolls: Saturday (in theory)
-Your moderators have lives and there are a lot of you, so please be patient
- Post at least ONCE per round
- Please follow site rules and ratings
- 200+ wc minimum
-Please enter all objects/inventory you may have in your first post.
-Add your action at the bottom, and if you could add stats and abilities we would appreciate it
-Walking around the room and talking are free actions.
-While it may be fun to read through other people's rooms, they may figure out clues before you so we ask that you refrain until the end, or be cautious of metagaming. If there is a very obvious metagaming, you may find your action backfiring quite spectacularly
THE ENCHANTED DEPTHSReducioAs you have certainly understood, there are three different threads. To participate, you must be indexed. If you are not indexed yet, please apply here. Your character does not need to post in a thread to access another, all are free of access. IC speaking, your character would enter through The Lost Pearl to reach The Weeping Shore. The location of The Drowned Palace, as well as an additional clue to the treasure hunt, are hidden in The Lost Pearl. Your character doesn't need either to access or play the game, these are options adding to the atmosphere.
⚓︎ THE LOST PEARL — is a boat, where you will be able to wine and dine.
⚓︎ THE WEEPING SHORE — is platforms resting on water, in the middle of the Great Lake, where you will be able to dance your heart out.
⚓︎ THE DROWNED PALACE — is an escape game....you are here.

Maddy entered the room having the names of her and some other people. Maddy was about to enter when she turned back with a gasp, "Wait- ickle Ryder is here too?" She smirked and entered the room.
Everyone else was behind her too, but she didnt care right now. This was legit and this was scary and this was awesome AND she snapped herself back, she needs to focus.
Words were forming on the wall, not clear really. She squinted her eyes to get a clear view when suddenly she heard....a song? Wait- No that has to be the clue right?
She processed the words slowly in her head, It was dark and she was getting chills here. Something has to make sense Ok, it says 'within the castle, far below.' She looked up at her team and then looked back at the wall with unclear words, "Listen up guys, i dont know if it makes sense to you but if this place is within the castle and below it could be the dungeons right? Or the small hall cause it says, not great but lesser halls."
Maddy looked at all of them and said furthermore, " We have to think Inside the Castle though and below, any ideas?"

Della must have arrived in the wrong room. Enzo was nowhere to be seen. Her date, her boyfriend (it was all so new, the word didn't sound right yet, even inside her own head), had agreed to meet her in the Drowned Palace. But alas, her name was there on the sign-up. His was not. Was there a mix-up? Was he playing in another room? Or had he forgotten to sign up? Or had he stood her up? (She didn't let that last thought linger for long.)
Well, whatever was happening, Della would now be fashionably late to her actual date, and therefore wanted to finish the game as soon as possible. She grew flustered as she thought about how the blond-haired French dreamboat might laugh at her because of the mix-up (yes, now the mix-up was somehow her fault, she was sure of it). Her face grew red, probably now a better complementary color to her flowing, long, dark blue-ocean dress, as opposed to her customary paleness over-accentuated by her silvery hair.
A first-year badger that Della didn't recognize (and even if she did, she would not offer a second glance in her current flummoxed state) had started talking about going to dungeons or the small halls. Della realized the low humming in her ears was not the sound of her own panic but a soft voice singing clues. Oh! They were supposed to be guessing what the voices were hinting at. Usually a fan of puzzles, Della tried to focus on the words. Not at her best, she added, "It could also be the basement? That's smaller and less traveled than the dungeons."

There was no way out, even if they tried to trace their steps back to where they came through. The door was either "gone" or it was hidden somehow now. There was no leaving for now. After all, this was an escape room; all that they had to do could be found here. It would just take a few trial and error and a bit of luck as well, it seemed. So going to the dungeons (or anywhere else for that matter) was not really an option anymore.MOD POST - GROUP 6
The algae continued to give off the same eerie light, and the song kept on playing, on repeat, as if tempting them to find a way to either continue this "riddle" and figure out the next steps, or plainly taunting them to make it stop at some point, since it was getting quite draining to hear it over and over again.
This was Hogwarts after all, maybe the answer was not as simple as being just among the letters and hidden words in the riddle and the song. Maybe the people needed to do something else to unfold the secrets of the room, unless they fancied staying forever trapped with a siren song playing on loop. Well it would certainly not be forever...right? There were safety mechanisms in place to avoid that...then again this was Hogwarts.
No mod rolls happened this round!
Note: I am aware this is a bit early given that the thread opened on Tuesday and I apologize for that, but this was done as to then keep on track with the every Saturday mod post schedule as much as possible. (as during the week it is less likely I'll be able to get the mod posts done)

Walking into the room, Hazel trips over nothing and almost faceplants onto the floor. Catching herself and then picking the notebook she brought with her, she smooths out her clothes reminding her that shed need to change later. A simple black tank top and black leggings. The perfect outfit for being trapped in a room right? Although she will need to change out of her clothes for the ball. Her cousin, Bree, told her through letters that she would gladly hold onto Hazels dress and shoes for the ball. And help Hazel do her hair. Right now, her hair was pulled up in a messy ponytail.Word Count: 242

Looking in the room, she searches for her cousin. Not finding her she spots a girl shes never seen before. After a moment everyone else fills the room. Not recognizing anyone and only recognizing her cousin's face, she waves towards her and walks over to her. Before she could say anything, the girl that she saw before starts talking. As she speaks hazel writes down the words to the song. Then copies down the marks she noticed on a wall.
Another girl Hazel also didn't know says something about a basement. "I think that we should at first introduce ourselves. Then make sense of everything. And I agree with you. Maybe it is a basement" Pausing, Hazel looks around before continuing, "Maybe we could write down what we find. After all we may notice different things."

So saying their guesses out loud didn't do anything. Unless their guesses were terrible—which seemed implausible—there had to be something else about the room. The puzzle was almost so perplexing that Della almost momentarily forgot about Enzo, who was hopefully waiting for her outside this room. In a single second of pure concentration, Della remembered she did bring her wand, and she could perform magic. Funny how easy it was to forget that sometimes.
A younger girl asked that they introduce themselves. Probably the polite thing to do, how easily she had forgotten her manners, too.
"I'm Della, fifth-year, Gryffindor." She gave the basics, hoping the girl didn't also want some type of icebreaker fun fact. Time was of the essence to get out of this room. The girl also mentioned writing down things they say; in her impatience, Della almost said, Why write them down, when we can just say them? But she remembered her manners once again and moved forward with the magic thing. "I have an idea. What about the revelio charm?"
She expected everyone to start casting in a flurry of action, but it didn't quite spur the energy she was going for. When did Professor Fresnel teach the revelio charm again? Maybe she was the only one who knew how to perform the charm?
With a quick spin of her wand, she said, "Revelio."

For @Della Barfield, it seems Professor Fresnel's teachings didn't go without attention. She did a well-cast revelio, and the algae seemed to grow brighter and sharper, allowing her to read the words blending into the foliage.MOD POST - GROUP 6

The words were scrambled; they needed to be rearranged, though that was a much easier task now that they could actually see them properly, too. Maybe with a bit of teamwork, it was going to be quite easy to decipher what the message meant now.
As for writing down their findings, they were welcome to try, though they may find that a tiny bit difficult given the dim, barely perceptible lighting the algae offered. Still, the glow from the words and them being almost "set in stone" for a lack of a better wording, did help in at least making sure they had something "jotted down".
The rest of the room remained almost untouched though, there was dim glowing from the algae still, slightly enhanced now because of the revelio for however long the spell lasted, while only the words remained almost permanently visible now.
