AUDITIONS

Ellie walked to the Great Lake for an audition for a musical. The poster had advertised Cinderella being the show, but she didn't know what Cinderella was. At all. So she asked her one of her muggle friends what cinderella was about and he had giving her a brief synopsis. Cinderella was about a servant girl who's parents had died and she was left with her stepmother, who made her work and clean the house. There is a invite to a ball and Cinderella wants to go but her stepsisters and mother tell her no. So a fairy godmother comes and she goes to the ball. Then there is some dancing and cinderella leaves her shoe for the prince you find her and he does. So from what Ellie understood, it was one of those muggle tales that was told to children. It sounded like fun, so Ellie came to the Great Lake a 7 pm for it. She was hoping to get either Cinderella or Fairy Godmother for her onstage role and since she had seen something about off stage, choreographer since Ellie loved anything related to dancing.

The sun was setting leaving the sky a beautiful orange color. Ellie had decided to get in character and was wearing a pale blue dress. Although under it, she had her favorite pair of sneakers. No one but the girl who had set it up was here so far and Ellie walked over to her.

"Hey, are you the person that set this all up? I'm Ellie by the way." Ellie said, a smile on her face.

The Great Lake was an interesting choice to do it by since she would have thought the small hall would be perfect. But the Great lake truly was beautiful with the sunset so it made sense why it was chosen

Cinderella! Charlotte smiled as she thought of the fairy tale she had heard so many times as a child. There'd be a play, and Charlotte thought it would be fun to try it out. She needed something to fill the time with anyways. She was very familiar with the story, and it had been one of her favorites growing up. She wondered what role she would audition for. Not Cinderella, that seemed too big of a role. Maybe the one of the stepsisters, or the fairy godmother. She did love set design too. . . maybe she would audition for that too. She quickly pulled on a jacket and headed toward the lake.

Charlotte felt so excited, and nervous too. Her heart beat fast in her chest, but she pushed the feelings out of her mind. Butterflies seemed to flutter in her stomach. She had never acted in a play before. Charlotte had not performed on a stage as someone else other than her, either. It'd be something new. She hoped she would like drama.

The Great Lake was so pretty, and Charlotte wished she came there more often. She was still a bit early and she decided to walk around first. The slight wind was nice, and the sun was setting, causing a nice warm glow to the lake. The lake was calm, and seemed to glitter in the light.

After around 5 minutes of walking around the lake, she decided to find where the audition took place. Where was it? She didn't see any signs or anything, and she didn't see anyone else there. Finally, she found a spot with two other girls. Charlotte didn't recognize either of them. This must be it right? After all, she didn't see anyone else around the lake. She decided to say something to them.

"Hi, I'm Charlotte," she said to the two other girls, "This is where we audition right?"

Avery was late as usual. Later than she normally was, but for a good reason. She had gone out to the pitch early that morning to get in some practice. Being the backup Seeker for Gryffindor, she had to keep her game up even if she didn't have a chance to play the entire game. She always had to be ready to spring up and help her team get to victory. As she walked across the grounds to the great lake, she noticed a small group of people already standing around. Not everyone was there yet. Good. That meant she at least wasn't the last person. It was embarrassing enough that she had lost track of time and she didn't want to add being dead last and holding everyone and everything up to that list. "So sorry I'm late. I lost track of time practicing Quidditch." Avery managed to say before she stopped herself. Not wanting to disturb anyone as they chatted among each other. "I'm Avery, by the way as some of you already know." She finally decided to add. Not wanting to be rude and not introduce herself. Now that she'd made it to the meeting area, she could relax and prepare for her audition. She didn't want to be the leading role this time. No. That was too much on top of Quidditch at the moment. Considering she had never seen Cinderella before as it was a muggle thing, she chose the name that stood out to her as well as writing the script. She had no experience writing scripts, but she loved reading and she had written things on occasion, so how hard could it be?

Edith smiles. "I see that almost everyone is here!" she began, looking around. "Well, let's start not to waste time, and the others can join us." she beamed.

"So first, I decided to do the backstage roles, as they will help create the play and later watch the auditions*¹ of the onstage roles, to decide who will fit with them most." she cleared her throat slightly.

"So. The way we'll do this:
I'll read here from my list of everyone that signed up," she gestured to a piece of paper in her left hand, "and we'll see who wants the role most. *² As it will probably be, multiple people want the role the most (top choice,) so we'll have a vote for who will receive the role. A silence followed those words.
Edith glanced around uncomfortably. "Well... I thought we should start with Director, since they can then continue all auditions." Edith cleared her throat again.

"Yolanda Yates' first choice is Director. The same for Tatiana Contraire and Edith Walkers (me). Director is Hana Suzuki's 2nd choice, so bear in mind that she prefers a different role to this one." She glanced at Hana.

"So... I guess we should put a vote, then. Your choices are Tatiana Contraire, Edith Walkers, Hana Suzuki and Yolanda Yates. Hands in the air if you want Tatiana,"

And so it went. They proceeded to Co-Director next. All those who didn't receive Director could, if they wanted to, automatically sign up (try out) for Co-Director if wished. So far, so good, Edith thought.

Natasha was sitting in the library, engrossed in Quidditch through the ages. She ha arrived at 6.00 pm, vowing to be done in 45 minutes, to ensure she wasn't late for Cinderella auditions. Suddenly, realizing that she had been reading for a lot longer than 45 minutes, she glanced up at the clock, and gasped.

She carefully put her book back in the shelf, and walked out of the library calmly, breaking into a sprint the second she exited.
Cinderella had always been her favorite muggle fairy tale. Second only to the Hindu mythology ones her grandmother used to tell her. Her favorite character had always been the Prince, though she never really knew why and so, had decided to audition for him once she realized there were no boys auditioning. Another of her favorite characters, surprisingly, was Anastasia. At first, she had hated both the stepsisters with a passion, but once, her dad had taken her to see the play in a theatre, and she had loved how funny and comedic they were. The reason she preferred Anastasia was simply that she thought that Drizella was an awful name for someone to have.
Finally, she decided to audition for the Prince, Anastasia, and then backstage roles for Costumes or Script Writing.
She snapped out of her thoughts as she reached near the great lake, looking around frantically for other members. She spotted a gathering of people a little far off, and decided to check there. She spotted Edith, and a couple other girls, and realized that it was infact, the drama club.
She walked towards them, out of breath, and apologized
"I'm so sorry I'm late. Could someone please catch me up?"
Natasha was soon caught up, and then told that the votes for director were starting.
She didn't really know a lot of people there, but she knew Edith, and she knew that Edith seemed like a natural leader, so she decided she would vote for Edith when the time came.
Decision made, she settled down on the ground, guzzling down water from her bottle, trying to catch her breath.

Tatiana was practically out of breath once she arrived at the Auditions, she had just remembered of it when she crossed the corridors and saw the small crowd hunched over Edith. She racked her brains, trying to piece together why all of a sudden there was at least half a dozen or more people outside at this hour—well it wasn't exactly late late, but it was still odd.

Just then the flyer had crossed her mind, and she immediately darted off to the great lake. Panting like crazy, she managed to say “Sorry I'm late,” to the crowd. After a quick run-over, she now knew what they were talking about when she arrived.

The show they were supposed to be acting out was Cinderella—a muggle fairytale. She never read any of those so called 'magical' books, but the others' excitement and energy had caught up to her and—only a little—it made her quite intrigued about this so-called “fairy-tale”

They were supposedly electing directors, Tatiana spotted a long-haired girl who looked pretty confident to be here, she assumed of her as an older student as she hadn't seen her around on her lessons much. Though she originally also wanted to be a director, it seemed that this girl was much more suitable to be one—therefore she voted her.

Lily looked out of her window. She saw the Great Lake and felt peaceful looking at the cloudy sky, She observed the area, seeing trees and birds, a Quidditch team coming up after their practice, a bunch of students surrounding Edith. A bunch of students surrounding Edith? What was happening today?

And then she remembered. The auditions were supposed to be today sharp at 7PM. It was already 6:58 now. She hurried to her closet, took out a cloak and ran towards the lake. She was already late. She reached the ground just as her clock said

"Sorry I am late", she said breathlessly. "Does anyone has some water?", she managed to ask. Somebody passed a bottle and mumbling a thanks, she drank heavily from it. Then, she started walking around, listening to the pieces everyone was talking about.

She put all the pieces together, getting to know that they were going to act out a show called Cinderella. She had heard the name several times; she knew it was a muggle fairytale. Right now, they were supposed to be voting for the directors. They had to choose from Tatiana Contraire, Edith Walkers, Hana Suzuki and Yolonda Yates.

She felt that she should trust her instincts which told her to vote for Edith Walkers. She just had a feeling that she would turn out to be a great leader, considering her calm posture. But she also felt that Tatiana Contraire would be a great choice too, considering that she had a natural way of leading people, and she was kind too. After much thinking, she decided to vote for both of them. They both seemed like good people. Only time would tell what would happen.....
