The way to the infirmary had taken some time and the cold had definitely done its tricks to Airlia's body. Her skin felt like pins and needles and she was shivering from the cold. How she wished she wouldn't have forgotten her robes at school.

While she was used to cold weather because of her nationality, going outside in these degrees in a simple school skirt and blouse hadn't been one of her brightest moments. Not that she had too many of those anyway.

So now as she allowed the young Slytherin girl to lean against her as they approached the hospital wing's doors, she couldn't help but appreciate the warm air inside the castle walls.

"We're here." Airlia said as she pushed the heavy dark brown wooden doors open, and took the first few steps into the infirmary. It was quite a surprising thing to have heard that a student didn't know where to hospital wing was, but Airlia was glad she'd acted as the girl's guide. The owl talon stuck in the girl's palm didn't look too good and there was no telling what kind of deceases one could get from a cut such as this.

"You can sit down on one of the beds." Airlia guided as she called for a mediwitch, but no one answered.

Sola followed the girl as she was lead to the Hospital Wing. She needed a bit of support, as her ankle had been twisted a bit. Not to the point of spraining, but to the point of being sore.

The Hufflepuff girl was cold; her skin felt like ice, but Sola supposed it was simply that she was warmer herself. She was grateful for her help. Sola hoped she wasn't being too much of a bother.

She honestly had no idea what happened in the Owlery, but she knew someone had cast a spell at her. Why? She didn't know. She might have to talk to a Prefect about it.

Her hand had stopped bleeding a while ago, and the handkerchief had been blotted in red, though not red. Most of the blood was kept in by the claw itself. Honestly, the idea of the claw carrying any diseases still hadn't crossed her mind, hence why she wasn't panicking.

Sola sat on the bed as instructed when they entered. The Hospital Wing was very... white. Everything was just coloured white or a pale yellow if it wasn't made of wood or metal. The bed was firm enough as she sat down.

"Thank you," she said to the Hufflepuff girl. The girl walked away for a moment but came back looking a bit worried. "What's wrong?" she asked.

Airlia looked around and then back at the girl sitting on the bed. She didn't want to spook her out about the possibility of them having to clean and wrap that had up themselves.

Airlia didn't know any healing magic at all and she was pretty sure that the only charm she knew that was anywhere close to it was the mending charm and that caused scarring when used on humans or animals. So it wasn't really an option either.

Airlia rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly and looked at the girl from under her lashes: "Well, the mediwitch isn't here. And since the claw on you palm is from an animal there's a serious risk of decease. It should be treated right away."

Airlia looked around and noticed the potion cabinet in the corner. It was under a heavy lock and key that certainly wouldn't open by brutal force nor any spell Airlia could muster. So potions were not an option but by the bed, there was a bowl of water, some gauze and a bottle of something Airlia was pretty sure would disinfect the wound.

"I think we might have to treat it ourselves. If you'll let me." Asking for the girl to trust her on this was uncomfortable, but they didn't really have the choice of waiting around. There was quite a wide range of diseases humans could get from birds and owls were no exception to the rule.

The girl looked sheepish, and Sola became increasingly worried. Oh no, what could possibly be wrong?

"Well, the mediwitch isn't here," the girl said. Sola blinked. Why wouldn't the mediwitch be here? Where else could she possibly be? Was some other student out there so badly hurt that they couldn't even get here? Well, that actually wasn't too farfetched. After all, people had regular classes learning how to fly using extremely temperamental, sentient brooms.

She hadn't even really considered disease, but she nodded her head in understanding. It had to be dealt with quickly.

"So, what do we do?" she asked, dreading the answer. The girl thought for a moment, going over to check a cabinet. Sola silently wondered how often she was in here that she knew her way around like this.

She came back looing disappointed but then noticed a bowl of water, some gauze, and a bottle of some liquid, and she looked like she had an idea... they would have to treat it themselves.

Sola's eyes bugged at the idea of having to fix this without an adult. Her mouth felt dry, but she bit her lip with worry. "Are you sure there isn't another way?" she asked, but conceeded quickly. "I'll let you if we have to."

"We can wait... It might just not be very smart." Airlia mumbled, looking at her feet worriedly. Then she whipped her hair over her shoulder and plastered a confident smile on her face.

Confidence was key when earning one's trust: "Don't worry. I'm Finnish through and through. I have seen my fair amount of cuts and bruises over the years and been taught hor to treat them."

She smiled gently and walked to the bowl of warm water. She took a clean cloth from the table and dipped in, walking over to the girl and cleaning some of the dried blood away before looking at the cut more closely now that she could see everything better. The claw did look pretty stuck in there and a considerable amount of strength would be needed to pull it out.

Of course, that meant that it would hurt.

"We have to pull it out." She said and looked at the girl with a fond smile, but a pitying look in her eye.

"And it's going to hurt." She added as she grasped the claw as well as she could. Getting it out the same way it went in would be important and seeing as the talon was curved she'd have to twist it out since pulling straight up would just make the cut way bigger.

"Ready?" She asked and started to slowly inch the talon out.

OOC: I give you permission to Godmod my character if you have to while getting the talon out. : )

They would have to pull it out, but it could've been worse. At least she wasn't alone. At least she wasn't sitting in the owlery with a claw in her hand and no idea where to go to get it fixed. Most of all, at least it was her left hand, which wasn't her spellcasting hand.

She nodded her head, allowing the girl to take her hands and care for it. So she was Finnish. Sola knew she had heard an accent but she wasn't sure from where. She had always thought people from the northern countries went to Durmstrang, but she could see why one wouldn't want their children going there.

The water stung slightly and Sola gritted her teeth, knowing what was coming next. She grabbed tightly onto the rail of the bed as the claw was slowly eased out of the wound in a curved motion. The girl was careful and gentle, as though she had done this before. Perhaps she wanted to be a mediwitch someday. She would be quite good at it.

Finally the claw was fully out, leaving only the bloody, fleshy gash in her palm. It had really dug its way in there. The cloth beneath her hand was splashed with blood. Calming her breathing, Sola looked at the girl. "Is... is it done?"

Airlia smiled and nodded, it hadn't been the easiest thing to do, but the claw was gone and she could see the damage better now. It looked gruesome, but Airlia at least knew just what to do to an open wound like this.

"Yes, it's all done." She reached over for a green bottle that she'd seen the medi-witches use a million times to cleanse wounds if they were out of potions and applied it to the wound. It made a strange sizzling sound that could be alarming but was in fact normal. "That will cleanse the wound and then this will stop it from scarring."

She watched as the sizzling stopped and wiped all the blood left behind before applying this strange-looking pink paste that she knew had magical qualities. Despite not having a medi-witch around Airlia didn't want this girl to be left with a huge scar on her palm.

"This might sting a bit but it really is worth the result." She smiled reassuringly and softly as possible patted the lotion into the scar before wrapping it with gauze to make sure it won't bleed anymore and it will shield the scar from any impurities of the world.

"There." Airlia smiled, proud of her work. "All done."

Sola couldn't help but watch with nervous fascination. She could feel it being cleaned, the bacteria literally burning away from the flesh. When that was done, the mini-mediwitch warned her before applying some pink paste that stung sharply. Sola hissed at the sensation and whimpered quietly afterwards at the feeling of the cold air on the skin.

The girl was reassuring as she wrapped Sola's hand expertly and efficiently. Finally, when it was done, Sola felt much better. She examined her hand and was surprised by how good it looked now that it had been taken care of. She glanced at the table, seeing the blood-covered claw in a little dish next to some tweezers. It was fascinating to look at, but she probably shouldn't touch it, so she left it alone.

"Thank you," she said to the girl. "You're really good at this. Like you've done it before." The girl knew her way around the hospital wing quite well, so it was likely she had indeed done it before.

"I'm Sola, by the way," she said. "Sola Haze." She didn't know if the girl would recognize the name, but she didn't really care. She came from a long line of Hufflepuffs, even if she wasn't one herself.
