Astronomy lesson
anfisa rosir walked up the stairs to the astronomy tower with the other first years she stayed quiet most of the way up she looked around the room when she got there it felt cold and a little dusty ,you could see the grounds and the castle in the dark she adjusted her robes and walked to her telescope and tried to calm herself a little. she could hear other students whispering and moving around she didn’t say anything just tried to pay attention
the lesson started and someone talked about the stars and planets and how to use the telescopes anfisa listened as best she could she wrote some notes but mostly tried to pay attention she liked writing neat but sometimes her hand shook a bit when she got excited she tried to remember everything she could
then it was time to use the telescopes anfisa went to hers and tried to focus it at first it was blurry and she frowned a little she moved it slowly and finally she saw the stars more clearly she tried to trace the constellations with her eyes and wrote little notes she felt a small spark of pride when she got it right she looked at the other students some were whispering and pointing at things she didn’t understand some were writing a lot she just kept her eyes on hers mostly trying to get it right
after a while the room was quiet except for the soft sounds of movement and whispers she liked the quiet it made it easier to focus she tried to remember the shapes and names of the stars she even drew little sketches of them in her notebook she thought maybe if she practiced she could get better at it
her eyes got a little tired after a while and she rubbed them but she didn’t stop writing she wanted to remember everything she could she thought about how big the sky was and how small she felt but it didn’t scare her it was kind of exciting she wanted to come back later just to watch and think some more
when the lesson ended she packed up slowly and looked out the window again at the stars the castle looked calm and quiet and she felt a little smile she was tired but she liked this she felt like maybe she could get used to this new life at hogwarts it was different but good and she thought about tomorrow and what else she would see and learn
