Sleep became Lilia's most praised enemy; constant nightmares disrupted the girl's mind, and the consuming darkness within the walls of the castle didn't exactly set her at ease. However, a great opportunity has represented itself upon her lack of sleep.

Mostly everyone was sound asleep by the time Lilia snuck out of the common room. A spike of adrenaline shot through the blonde's body, she knew she wasn't supposed to be out of bed after 10 PM, but she surely wasn't planning on staying in her room and staring at the ceiling for the rest of the night. What a waste of time!

Like a little mouse, Lilia tiptoed her way down the hallway, cautiously glancing over her shoulder in fear of getting caught. She wasn't a troublemaker. Well, let me rephrase that; she wasn't a troublemaker unless she believed a certain situation was worth the risk. This is definitely worth the risk, Lilia thought to herself, reminding herself of what house she represents. No room for cowards in Gryffindor.

Soon enough, the blonde reached her destination. Quietly, with a bit of struggle, Lilia unlocked the door and slipped into the library, her heart drumming furiously against her chest. Phew.
For a moment, the girl closed her sterling gray eyes, steadying her breathing before finally pushing herself away from the door and slowly approaching the wall of books ahead of her. She was in for a treat.

A soft smile settled on her lips, fingers tracing the spines of several books before she pulled one out; thick, covered in leather. Frowning in focus, Lilia ran her fingertips across the letters written across the front cover. A chuckle escaped her lips as she realized she was holding what seemed to be an older version of Gulliver's Travels. For a swift moment, Lilia felt at home.

"She is anything but ordinary."

The young Gryffindor girl wasn't the only one out of her bed after curfew. Ironically, however, Jack wasn't trying to make trouble, either. Sure, he might have been pretty well-known as something of a troublemaker by now, but tonight, he had something else in mind.

The Slytherin spent most of his class time slacking off, but that was only to hide the fact that he worked very hard to stay ahead of the rest of his peers in his studies. That meant doing classwork and homework when no one else was around to see him - like after curfew in the library.

However, as he soon found out upon taking his familiar route to said library, there was someone there to see him. She didn't appear to be a prefect, but Jack was wary nonetheless. Did she have a better reason to be there than he did? And if so, could she have potentially gotten him in trouble knowing he was there?

Deciding to play it safe, the redhead crept as quietly as he could up to the blonde to see if he could read the titles of the books she was browsing over her shoulder. Her final selection from the shelf surprised him. It didn't seem school-related at all.

Unable to help a small laugh, he asked, "Looking for a bedtime story?"

Truth be told, Lilia was looking for a text book, perhaps even a chronicle of some sort. Though, she wasn't utterly surprised to find one of her favorite stories her father used to read to her; with the quantity of books the library had to offer, there was no way these would have all been for learning purposes only. Slowly, she moved her palm across the front case, her fingertips curling beneath the leather to open the book, when suddenly, an unfamiliar voice brought her out of peace.

A soft gasp slipped from her lips as the blonde flinched, twirling around to see who else was present. Just as her eyes landed on the redheaded boy, Lilia stumbled, her back crashing into the bookshelf behind her while almost dropping the book she held in her arms.
"Hasn't your mom taught you it's impolite to enter a room without addressing your presence?" The girl whispered, swallowing the lump that has formed in the pit of her throat within the matter of seconds.

Her gaze then moved down to the book she now had locked in a death grip, carefully placing it back into its original place on the bookshelf. "Not that it's any of your business, but... I'm looking for a book." Lilia looked back at the boy, her gray eyes sparkling. "Technically, I'm not supposed to get my hands on Advanced Potion Making until next year, so I'm looking for something... similar."

Lilia wasn't your usual rebel, she didn't misbehave out of spite, or plot mischief to harm another's well being. She was determined, and slightly ignorant when it came to following the rules; she never broke them, she just... found her way around them. Besides, she never did anything potentially troublesome without a having a valid reason. That was her opinion, anyway.

"Why are you here? The blonde squinted her eyes in suspense, studying the boy's stance.

Forcing back more laughter, Jack settled for beaming broadly instead at the girl's reaction to his presence. "Oh, she has," he assured her. "It's just not as much fun. Anyway, neither of us are supposed to be here, so I hadn't thought it prudent to announce myself in any case."

He watched her replace the book, tilting his head curiously at her actions. Had she decided to replace it just because of him? "Now that we both know the other's here," he told her with a quiet, mischevious air, "I think it's become my business. We're kind of partners in crime now if you think about it. Either of us could sell the other one out in an instant."

Meeting those sparkling gray eyes with his own hazel ones, he wondered if the girl liked the idea of learning Potion Making ahead of her class. "I could probably help you there," he offered. "Why Advanced Potion Making, though? Was there something specific you had in mind that you wanted to make? Or do you just enjoy Potions that much?"

Her comment about finding something 'similar' amused Jack, as he himself much preferred bending rules to breaking them. Approving of her methods and owing her an explanation once she had given him hers, he spread his arms and asked, "Would you believe me if I told you I was looking to get ahead myself?"
