Julia was walking down towards the Great Lake. She had just completed her load of homework and she was looking forward to going outside after being cooped up for so long. The Great Lake was one of Julia's most favourite parts of the grounds, it was peaceful, yet at the same time exciting. One of Julia's favourite combos. As she sat down near the edge of the lake, she spotted another girl nearby, usually this wouldn't be weird, but Julia rarely saw students around the lake. Most of them were afraid of the giant squid, though Julia found the squid quite cute. She recognized the girl as a first year. Julia had seen her in on of her lessons, the girl was a Slytherin, but unlike most slytherins, the girl was quite nice. Julia tried to remember her name, she didn't know the girl very well. "What was her name?" she wondered.
"Stella - no, Skyla, no, umm... Got it! Skylar", Julia thought.
"And her last name was... Astin - nope, it was... Astor! Definitely Astor"
Skylar Astor. That was the girl's name, "Ugh, I need to stop calling her 'The girl', its creepy", Julia said to herself. She wondered if she should go and talk to Skylar, maybe they could be friends? She decided to go and try. She walked up to Skylar. She was a short girl with loose twin braids. Her hair color was ash brown and she had gray eyes which were bright and clear. She looked quite kind to Julia. "Shame she's in Slytherin, everyone will think of her as mean, and cunning" She thought.
"Hi! Skylar right? Skylar Astor? I'm Julia Evans, nice to meet you", Julia said, smiling. She had a feeling they were going to be good friends.

Finding A Friend
Today wasn’t a good day for Skylar. She had just received her Herbology grade, and the result wasn’t what she expected. It was only one point off, but it still hurt her pride. Herbology was supposed to be her strongest subject. Missing that one score felt like a thorn under her skin.
Frustrated, she wandered out across the Hogwarts grounds, looking for somewhere quiet to clear her mind. Then a thought came to her.
“The Great Lake. Yes, that should do.”
The topic she’d lost marks on had been aquatic plants. She thought back to home. There were endless gardens of every kind, except the one she’d never been allowed to enter, the aquatic garden. Maybe that was why she wasn’t familiar with those kinds of plants, as she’d thought.
When she reached the Great Lake, Skylar walked slowly along the shore, scanning the dark surface, trying to find some plant to observe. She could feel a few curious eyes on her. Maybe she looked suspicious, pacing near the edge like that.
Then she heard footsteps from behind.
Startled, she turned too quickly and almost slipped into the lake. Before she could, someone caught her hand and helped her get back on her feet again.
“Thanks! That was close.” She said with a sigh and shaky laugh.
The girl who’d helped her had long dark-blue hair and skinny look. Skylar noticed the Ravenclaw colors on her robes as the girl introduced herself.
“Yes, I am. Nice to meet you, too, Julia.”
Julia looked exactly how Skylar imagined a Ravenclaw would be. A girl seems really smart, so she only hoped Julia wouldn’t think she’d been about to break a school rule or something.

Julia wasn't sure what to say. Skylar didn't look very happy, and Julia was unsure if it was because of her or not. Julia could feel Skylar 'sizing her up', and she could only hope for her to find her nice. Julia had startled Skylar when she was walking towards her, Skylar had almost fallen into the lake but Julia caught her just in time.
At first Julia was quite sure Skylar blamed her for it, but as she looked into her eyes, Julia saw a lot of doubt, slowly, it dawned on her that Skylar must think that she, Julia, thinks that Skylar must have been doing something wrong. Hoping to assure Skylar she quickly introduced herself, for a second Julia thought she got the name wrong, then Skylar said “Yes, I am. Nice to meet you, too, Julia”.
Julia felt relieved, for a second there she thought Skylar would be offended at her. An awkward silence had built up, and the 2 girls were looking so awkward that Julia had to laugh, after a second Skylar joined in to. They laughed so much that Julia's stomach started hurting, it was getting dark so Julia checked her watch

"How about we go and get some food?", Julia asked Skylar, smiling and hoping Skylar will accept.6:49

Finding A Friend
By the lake, there was a cool air touched with silence and a drifting mist. Skylar let out a quiet breath before her laughter faded into the low hum of the water against the rocks. She glanced at Julia, who still wore that easy, genuine smile. She paused for a second, listening to her stomach.
“Food, huh?” Her stomach growled, and her voice was low but steady.
“That's a good idea, I could use some. I skipped lunch… long story.”
She started toward the path leading back up the hill. She walked slow like there was nothing she have to hurried, even how much she felt hungry inside. Skylar didn’t want to leave the sight of nature just yet.
For a while, the only sounds were the soft wind moving, the quiet, and distant croak of a frog. If there were no nature surround her, she feels she have no courage to talk to other people and was afraid she might ruin the moment of bonding. Her mind kept circling back to that moment when she nearly slipped into the lake. A little bit embarrassing, and just… disorienting. As she goes back to the Great Hall. Skylar tried to find any topic to kill this awkwardness.
“So....you come down here often? The lake, I mean.”
It wasn’t a smooth line, but it was honest. The kind that sounds like it came out naturally when the world around you felt calm enough to listen. She looked toward Julia again, half-expecting to see a girl’s expression.

Sorry it took me so long to write this

They were walking towards the great hall. The soft sound of the wind, with the animals around, and the disorienting awkwardness. It felt quiet, but still loud.
“So....you come down here often? The lake, I mean.”, Skylar asked. She had sort of blurted it out, not controlled or smooth, but honest. "Ya", Julia thought for a moment. Then she said "The presence of nature here is calming. It's nice to unwind an exhausting day by coming here." That was the best Julia could put it. The lake calmed in a way that she couldn't explain with words alone. The changing winds on different days, the different sounds of the animals, even the feelings that softly radiated off people near the lake. It was not something to be told. It was something to experience.
As the two of them were silently walking side by side, Julia felt like a spark of friendship had ignited in her. So she decided to keep the small talk Skylar had started going.
"How about you? You come here often too?", Julia asked
She didn't consider it a particularly 'good' question, so she was completely prepared to see Skylar offended.

As Julia said, “The presence of nature here is calming. It's nice to unwind an exhausting day by coming here.”
That’s made Skylar mesmerise. The girl seems to have a similar way of thinking to her. She looked at Julia with a big smile, then extended her arm to feel the wind around her.
When Julia asked her.
“How about you? You come here often too?”
She immediately shook her head for a bit.
“Not exactly. I’m always making myself busy with classwork and books, or kept myself in a common room.”
She glanced to the view in front of her and smiled genuinely.
“But, after today, I might come here more. The atmosphere seems worth it, and I haven’t managed to find any Gillyweed yet.”
She looked down at the ground and sighed with a long exhale.
“I came here to find some aqua plant, actually. I want to study it myself.”
Skylar was not sure Julia would find her purpose too dangerous since she had almost fallen into the water. Also, the school did not allow anyone to go swimming in the lake. So, she clarified her action again.
“I just want to look at the shore, that’s all, not in a deep lake or break some rule.”
Thinking of a class, she began to be curious about what Julia's interests were the most.
“What about you? After the time you have spent here, what subject do you like the most?”

@Skylar Astor
Skylar had a lot to say for Julia's question. It was interesting, soon as she had asked the question Skylar shook her head a bit and said, “Not exactly. I’m always making myself busy with classwork and books, or kept myself in a common room.”
She smiled, and continued
“But, after today, I might come here more. The atmosphere seems worth it, and I haven’t managed to find any Gillyweed yet.”
Julia found that quite interesting, she liked Herbology, but wasn't a big fan of it. Knowing that Skylar liked that subject though, she was curious to know what Skylar did.
“I came here to find some aqua plant, actually. I want to study it myself.”, Skylar said sighing.
To Julia, it looked as though Skylar expected, that she, Julia, thought Skylar was breaking a rule. But it sounded as if she just wanted to have a look. She knew she was right when Skylar said,
“I just want to look at the shore, that’s all, not in a deep lake or break some rule. What about you? After the time you have spent here, what subject do you like the most?” Julia thought about that, it was a tricky question really, she didn't have one favorite subject, so instead she said "I don't think I have a single favorite subject, they are all great, but this is probably a very 'Ravenclaw' answer, so i'll say... DADA, Charms, and Flying. But I really like all of them", Julia sighed, then asked "What about you? I know you like Herbology, but are there any other favorites? What hobbies do you have?"

Sorry! Didn't mean for it to take a month. I think this proves I'm bad at multitasking
Finding A Friend
Skylar chuckled, understanding how Julia felt when she heard the girl answer. It wasn’t surprising that a Ravenclaw girl would enjoy all of the classes. With a ready mind of learning, she was certain that anyone in the blue house shared the same mindset, or had something in common, like enjoying learning everything.
When Julia asked her back. “What about you? I know you like Herbology, but are there any other favorites? What hobbies do you have?” She paused a bit.
Skylar had never done anything not involving trees and plants. The only hobbies of her life before she was at Hogwarts were planting and experimating poison to herself.
“Um…” She looked at Julia with a bit of thoughtfulness as she added, “This is a very hard question.”
She then glanced far away. “Honestly, I had nothing in mind besides Herbology, but if you asked me what I plan for the future. I might say I want to learn more about potions.”
She looked at the girl again with a soft smile. “Oh, and I want to have an adventure with someone or maybe explore more toward the castle.” It was clear that she was too focused on the class right now and had forgotten about enjoying her time here. So, talking about the plan made her remember what she had promised to herself.
She finally took a seat as she asked Julia. “Do you have any plans for the future, too?”

Finding A Friend

@Skylar Astor
Julia listened as Skylar spoke feeling happy with her friend choice. Skylar was clearly a nice person. “Um…” She said and looked at Julia with a bit of thoughtfulness as she added, “This is a very hard question.”
Julia blushed, hoping she didn't mean that in a bad way. Not knowing what to say, she continued listening.
Skylar glanced far away. “Honestly, I had nothing in mind besides Herbology, but if you asked me what I plan for the future. I might say I want to learn more about potions.” She looked at Julia again with a soft smile. “Oh, and I want to have an adventure with someone or maybe explore more toward the castle.” Julia smiled back to her. Even she was interested in potions, as for exploring the castle? That had been top of he list for a long time.
Skylar took a seat as she asked Julia. “Do you have any plans for the future, too?”. Julia bit her lip as she thought. Did she? After minute she said, "Even I would love to explore the castle. maybe we could do it together?" she asked, pausing for a second, then continuing "I really want to be part of the quidditch or duelling team, and in the distant future I would love to become an Auror" Julia hoped that didn't sound to weird. The fact that she'd already decided her profession. She looked at Skylar and smiled a little, then asked, "Do you have any interest in sports? Like duelling or quidditch?" Maybe Skylar liked duelling, like Julia, or maybe she was even into broom racing. Julia sat down and smiled, waiting for an answer.
Finding A Friend
Surprised how freely the girl suggested, as Skylar learned from most Revenclaw personalities, they were into books and did not seem to be quite adventurous. Maybe Julia was different. “Sure, we should meet up sometime to explore the castle.” She answered. Her smile was genuine, but curious at the same time.
Then stunned again as she paused in quiet. Her brow softly frowned. Considering how the girl mentioned that Auror was the dream job. She could guess Julia must be from a pure bloodline like hers. “Seeing you mentioned Auror, are you familiar with someone who has worked as an Auror before?” She put her hand under her chin, waiting for the answer focusingly.
After a minute, she came to realize her action might seem too weird. She afriad that Julia could be umcomfortable with her striaght forward question. She then explained. “Both of my parents work for the Ministry. My mother works in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, and my father was at Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, I think. So, I did not know much about Auror, that why I was curious.” Her tone was gentle as she seemed serious, hoping Julia did not think she was offending her.
When the girl asked more about her other interest, she shook her head a bit. “I’m really not into sports, but I might be considering to have duel in the future.” She chuckled. Skylar was only interested in Charm because her mischief grew stronger after arriving here. “Maybe we could also practice some spells together sometime.”
