Linsdey decided she would write a letter. A letter was hard to write for her. Both her mom and brother had sadly died in a car accident and her father wouldn't care so, her only option was her sister, Autumn. Autumn was a twenty one year old mom who had Linsdey wonderful niece, caitlyn. Even though Autumn was a mom and a wife, she always made time for Linsdey letters especially if it was about Hogwarts. Autumn had gone to Hogwarts and got sorted into Ravenclaw.

Linsdey had finished the letter about an hour ago but didn't want to send it. She wondered  if Autumn would even care about her anymore  and Hogwarts anymore now that she was a wonderful mom and wife. Lindsey decided to shove the thought about her mind as she reached the owlerly. Once she sent the owl she would race back to the hufflepuff dormitory and then try to get homework done, lots of it. As she walked over to an school owl, for Lindsey didn't have her own. She wanted one but she couldn't afford one. She decided to shake the feeling from her head and send the letter for she really needed to do homework. She hoped she would be the only one there for otherwise she would stop and chat. She didn't need that. When she walked in, she went over the first barn owl she saw. It was quite handsome owl. Tying the letter on wasn't that hard as Lindesy felt tears slowly drip from her eyes as her hair was blowing in the wind. She didn't need this now, not now, not never. She dried the tears but more kept coming. She then finished tying the letter and the owl flew off letting her be all alone. She curled in a ball and cried. "Why am I like this?" she asked out loud to no one in particular.

Isabella made her way up to the Owlrey and looked down at the letter in her hand. A letter from her parents she had received only that morning at breakfast. It was along the lines of,
"How are you? Are you doing well in your classes? We love you so much! Have you made any friends?

Love, Mum and Dad"

Isabella's return letter (that was in her other hand) read, "I'm doing very well! I've made some good friends and I'm scoring amazingly in my classes! I miss you both, though. I love you both too.

Love, Izzy, your Snowzy"

Apon reaching the Owlery, Isabella walked inside. It felt magical, albite having quite a bit of owl poop and feathers. Other than that, it was magical. The owls fluttered around and every once in a while a feather would flutter down to land on her head. She had a preferred owl that she liked to use, calling it Tinsel.

"Tinsel! Where are you, girl?" Seemingly hearing her name called, the silvery owl fluttered down from her place of rest. Isabella laughed. True to her name, Tinsel looked silver, like much of the tinsel that Isabella herself had hung in her home.

Isa tied the letter to Tinsel's foot, and the owl took flight. It sent an "affectionate" blink (if ever there was one) in Isa's direction and then flew into the sky from the tower. Isabella looked after Tinsel, and then she turned around, about to leave the Owlrey, when something, or someone caught her eye. It was a person on the ground, and they seemed to be, at first, and second, and third glance, crying. Isabella slowly approached the person and asked, "Hey, are you okay? Would you like to talk about it?" Isabella tried her best to give a reassuring smile.

Lindsey saw the other girl. Talking to the owl. "Well, she's odd,"Lindsey wanted to mentally smack herself. She said those words out loud. Now that's even more humiliation. First crying and now saying mean things.
The girl saw Lindsey crying. Why?

Laughing at the girl, Lindsey said to herself at least in her head," At least I'm not nuts, the girl is talking to an owl like it actually speaks back." Lindsey realized she said those words, out loud! Now look who is a fool, not the nice, speaking girl, it's Lindsey! First the crying and now insulting people. Why does she act like this!

Lindsey stood up, so fast that her hair whipped around in her face and she tripped. Tripped! Lindsey Bliss tripped! She mumbled a "sorry," to the girl and turned her head to the side, not wanting to get her shirt wet or let the girl see her cry.

This was turning out to be a nightmare, a complete nightmare. Everything always happens to Lindsey, on the same day! Just why?

"I'm sorry, I'm okay, really and nervous, and my name is Lindsey bliss. I'm a first year hufflepuff who is muggle born and has only one parent, a father because the other one died. I don't mean to be mean at all, it just happens. I'm really sorry-" She spoke so fast and it didn't sound good.

"Hi. I wouldn't say I'm odd, just weird! Do you talk to your pets? Like, 'Jessalend, Come here kitty kitty.' I'm also a Hufflepuff!" Isabella smiled. Sure, the girl hadn't been nice at first, but Isabella believed that she could become a good friend. Also, she was sobbing a moment before, so Isabella also had to give her some slack!
"I'm a Half-Blood. My dad is a muggle, and my mom is a witch! I'm really sorry that your parent died. I can sit with you, if you'd like?"
Isabella didn't really know what to do in the event. She just talked and talked and talked. It seemed like a sensible solution.

Bella looked up at the ceiling and suddenly remembered another good conversation topic. The owls flew around her as she said, "Do you celebrate Halloween, Easter, Christmas, and/or Thanksgiving? Or Hanukkah? Or Diwali? Kwanza?"

Isabella loved to decorate her bedroom for Christmas. She would put up lights and put a mini (very mini) Eitfull tower made of wood on her counter. She pulled out a Christmas bedspread and put her stuffed animal cat on her bed, putting a Santa hat on it.

Isabella looked at the girl, her eyes sparkled in curiosity. She smiled at the girl. Bella was content.

"I do talk to my pets...well...sometimes," Lindsey replied to the girl. Lindsey wanted to tell a story but it might be too long, so she told a shorter version and a happier version. "I love talking to my cat that I had at home. Her name was Snowflake. I would talk to it, love it, tell it stories and at night we fell asleep together side by side. We were so cute."
I suddenly felt the urge to cry, scream, and laugh all at the same time.
With girl talking about holidays, it made her wonder what she was going to do for Christmas? She was at Hogwarts. Was it proper for a first year as a student to stay at hogwarts for Christmas? Or could she go home for the holidays to her sister and niece and brother law. Could she enjoy stringing Christmas lights and drinking eggnog at midnight? Could she enjoy the warmth and light that her family brought with them? Would it be possible for Lindsey to wake up in matching pj's for once? What would Lindsey ever be able to do? It was her first Christmas away from home and now she spent the time thinking about it.
"Of course, I celebrate Christmas, thanksgiving, Easter and definitely Halloween. Wait, you didn't mention birthdays. Do you count a birthday as a holiday? I know I do with the presents and everything. I love Halloween because with the candy and everything, it's just so much to enjoy and the decorations, don't get me started on the decorations. The pumpkins, scarecrows, leaves, bats, ghosts," Lindsey sighed. "I love it all."

"Cool! My favorite is Christmas because you get to spend it with family and friends! You also get presents! Although, I can't say I have ever spent it with any friends purely from Hogwarts."

Isabella plopped her head apon her chin. She wondered if one day, she and Lindsey would become, well, friends! She smiled at the prospect. It would be fun to have a new friend, in her same year and house, no less! Oh! I should ask this person, well, their name and pronouns! And which house they are in. And which place they live in! Plant Palace or the other place... What's its name? Bella realized that she was lost in thought, again.

Bella shook her head and looked at the person in front of her. Her hair swisher as she said, "I would count a birthday as a holiday! You get presents, it causes people to shop for things... and you take days off to celebrate and have fun with friends, sometimes! I celebrate Christmas (of course, who doesn't?! Well, there are some people...), Thanksgiving (yum! Time for family, and most importantly, delicious food!), Easter (I love going on egg hunts! We also get candy!), and Halloween (walking up to a stranger's door and asking them for candy)!"

Bella paused, out of breath, before continuing, "Have you gotten any homework from your classes? And what do you like to do for fun? Maybe we could hang out sometime? Also, your cat sounds AMAZING." Bella couldn't help but notice the past tense, so something must have happened to their cat. Isabella frowned. That was so sad!

Isabella smiled, and laughed a bit. "I'm sure your hair doesn't just sit there! It has to be sentient!" She giggled a bit, Lindsey's replies were way too funny (or, at least they were in her opinion). "I was very excited for Potions, and I'm not sure about the other classes, yet. They seem fun, except for that Transfiguration includes some muggle science." Bella sighed. She hoped she could get Transfiguration down, and have an understanding. She'd get this! "I have gotten almost around a week's worth of homework done, though! Well, it doesn't seem fun to have homework in the form of a multiple inch long essay. Are you excited for O.W.L and N.E.W.T year?" Anyone excited for that N.E.W.T year, well, they might have to be a person who either was really excited to get their graduating grade, or they would be- well, Bella didn't know. Even many Hufflepuff's weren't excited for it, and they were the hard workers!

Bella smiled, "My family likes to celebrate Christmas. I keep thinking that we should do a Christmas with friends sometime. Like - a Frie-mas? No. Maybe a Friendmas?" (Thoughts) That's the one! The perfect name. (Thoughts)

Bella thought about asking her parents, only if Lindsey wanted to, of course, if Lindsey could come over for a tiny Friendmas. Or, better yet, Friends' Mas!
