The Masquerade Ball
Final call, closing this thread completely in 1 week.
There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

The Masquerade Ball
Katrina was done. After almost collapsing from her near panic attack, she slowly walked towards the door. Freedom was so close.
Tear that she didn't want anyone to see slipped down her face. The Gryffindor quickly swiped them away. Her head was filled to the brim with millions of thoughts. The panic attack began to creep back in and it was all Katrina to do to push the worries away.
She walked through the door and her fingers trailed on the handle. The 12-year-old felt small as she took a look back at the mess. Scorch marks were left on the floor, a window was broken, small bits of blood were all over, the fallen body of the half-giants, and knocked over chairs were all that was left.
The last students followed her on the way out. It was all she could do to keep herself together as she slinked back to her Common Room.
It took mere minutes upon landing on her bed for her to cry herself to sleep. The dreams that came were troubled. It would be a long while before she would be able to sleep in peace again.
Yet, despite all that happened. She finally realized that it was possible. She could fit in, have a purpose, find her voice. Katrina was comforted by that in her subconscious, allowing a few hours of sleep.
It had been so tough, but Katrina had learned so much.

The Masquerade Ball
Interactions: @Saskia Nicholson | Mentions: Dan Palmer
Health: Full
Status: Fine but traumatized; slightly blinded
Thora couldn't believe that the Hufflepuff was still on her feet and smiling--well, smiling painfully--after what'd just happened. "Yeah, this is fine. Tell me if you need anything else," the girl assured as she scooted closer, allowing Saskia to latch onto her arm for support. It was awkward, but at least Thora was able to help. It hurt to watch the other girl get bitten and then have her head smashed on the ground, and the simple fact that she had done nothing was enough to send another crushing wave of guilt through her.
But at the same time, being short was worse than ever. Saskia had a good five inches or so on her, and while Thora was strong enough to maintain an upright position for the both of them, they were making quite slow progress. But at least they were getting somewhere. Dan seemed to be struggling up ahead with the masked man--at least, that's how it appeared to Thora. Remnants of the green sparks charm still plagued her vision, sending spots through it every so often. Besides, her Quidditch Captain was so far down the corridor that she couldn't tell exactly what was happening.
However much the scene behind her piqued her interest--how people were hopefully safe for the time being--there was a job to do. Thora forced herself to not look back as she continued, in the shadows, towards Dan. While time wasn't on their same, they couldn't afford to be spotted. It would be quite difficult for her and Saskia to escape, and that… that wouldn't end so well.
For some, the night was over. They could go back to their dormitories and sleep their worries away, or perhaps stay up and at least have someone to talk to, somewhere to go, somewhere where they could be safe. But for Thora, the night was far from over. In fact, it had just begun.

The Masquerade Ball
Andy came running up to Dan all of a sudden, worry evident on his face. He cared so deeply for him, and Dan did him too.
WHY DID ALL THE GOOD ONES HAFTA BE STRAIGHT?!
He asked if Dan was okay, and he replied "Yeah, I think so."
Then he asked about Dan's feet. This prompted him to examine his soles, and found they were a bit scuffed, but there was no blood.
"A little bit messy, but nuthin' a pedicure won't fix."
Then he asked if there was any pain. And before he could answer, Andy asked if there were bruises. And before he could answer, Andy asked if there were any broken bones. So, he worked backwards.
"No broken bones, I dunno...can your head get a bruise? I think I might get a lump later. And the only pain I have is in my head when some stupid bint threw a shoe at me. See, this is why those things are bad."
Then Andy went off on him, expressing serious angry concern about what he did. He let Andy get it out, then spoke himself.
"They were tryin'a hurt my schoolmates. And they ruined my first date. I was upset, so I took one down. As fer the exit, that damn American headmaster shot me outta the ballroom. He murdered the giant, and is prolly tryin'a pin it on me. I know FOR A FACT that I'm not strong 'nuff to kill a giant muggle-style.
But.... Thanks fer comin' after me."

The Masquerade Ball
Her makeshift spear did not do what it was supposed to do... It did not hit the creature in front of her. Instead, she hit a student. The smoke from the room was beyond thick that it blinded her from aim. Her heart skipped a beat. The student was injured. Maya, who has never done friendly fire such as this before, was in a predicament. She can't take the spear out of the student for they will begin to bleed uncontrollably.
Immediately, there were students who were helping the student. In addition, they were attacking the giants that was before her. Realistically, they have what it took to work together to defeat the giants. Maya did not want a mistake such as hers to happen once again. She decided to go and help those who were attacked in the corner. She rushed out of the corner and went towards injured students. There was not much to do other than hope for the giants to be defeated where they can get through the door and to the Hospital Wing.
Maya began to strengthen handmade splints on some students and watched over those who fell unconscious. What's happening to me? she asked herself, wondering why she put herself now on the sidelines rather than in the action. Nothing ever bothered her. She'd seen friendly fire all the time. Why now is it bothering her? Because she did it? Perhaps.
Moments passed by and the giants were defeated. Proud of the ballroom students, she began to help take students to the Hospital Wing where they could get the best help to recovery. Especially the one she wounded.
