Leo watched the initial interaction between Fred and Rosa as they were joking together and felt a hint of jealousy but pushed it out of his head, unsure why he was even letting the thought cross his mind. He noticed Rosa’s cheeks blush a little like his own after their greetings which made him feel slightly better that maybe she was feeling the same as him at that moment. With the group quickly splitting up the work between them, Leo felt good that the group would get everything done and a hopefully a good grade would follow.
Leo laughed softly at Fred's out loud thinking as he began working on the timeline for the goblin rebellion. He scanned the table of contents of the textbook and flipped to the first page on the rebellion, noting down important dates and the info about them. He periodically borrowed the different colored ink from Rosa to mark the different moments on the timeline.
Leo looked at his notes, flipping between pages to check everything as he was writing the outline of the timeline. He noticed the girl who he had met there first, Isabella, whispering to Rosa at one point. He could've sworn he heard his name but figured he was just hearing things because he was already feeling nervous about the ball that was a few days out. He put his focus back on the work in front of him before glancing around the table at the others work. He turned to Fred and tried to make casual conversation since they were working together. “I didn't realize it at first but you were on the same team as Rosa and I for that knock out quidditch game, right? Sorry I didn't remember at first but it was a good game, were you going to try to play for your house team someday?” He asked him, continuing to write out the timeline outline.
Leo finished his outline and slid the notebook to Fred, “Do you think this looks good?” He asked quietly, holding onto the corner of the notebook. “I think I got all the important events and then I'll make the final draft version and I can probably help you guys too after.” He offered to the group glancing over at Isabella and Rosa too. With that he took out a fresh piece of paper out so he could neatly transfer the outline onto it from his notes.

When Rosaline looked up at him with a smile and said it was a coincidence they’d ended up in the same class again, Fred grinned. “What a coincidence!” he replied, his tone light and amused. Fred had already filled half a line with ink blots before realizing his quill wasn’t behaving. He frowned at it, gave it a quick shake, and muttered, “Come on, don’t start a rebellion of your own.” The quill splattered a final dot of ink on the parchment as if in defiance, earning a quiet laugh from him.
The boy leaned back in his chair, glancing around the table. As they all got settled, he didn’t notice anything odd between Rosaline and Leo, but he did catch Isabella leaning in to whisper something to Rosaline. Whatever it was made the girl’s cheeks flush slightly. Fred was curious, but decided not to ask, some things were better left for later.
He bent over his work again, reading a passage about goblin armor and muttering bits aloud. “Ragnuk the First… forged the Sword of Gryffindor… wait, that Ragnuk?” He blinked, then grinned. “Blimey, no wonder they were cross about it.” He started jotting quick notes, his handwriting slanted and slightly crooked, but surprisingly organized for him. He tilted the book toward the middle of the table, making sure the others could see if they wanted.
Leo’s voice pulled him from his thoughts. Fred looked up, surprised, and then his grin returned as the boy mentioned the knock-out Quidditch game. “Mate, you’re right! I knew I’d seen you before. That match was insane, wasn’t it?” He laughed, shaking his head at the memory. “I actually tried out for the Gryffindor team this year, still waiting to hear back, though. You thinking about trying for Ravenclaw?”
When Leo slid the notebook over, Fred leaned closer, scanning the outline. “Looks solid to me,” he said, tapping the edge with his quill. “We can cross-check the names I’ve got here with your dates later, make sure the goblins aren’t revolting twice in the same week.” He flashed a quick grin at Leo, then glanced toward Isabella and Rosaline. “We’re making decent progress, huh? Doesn’t even feel like we’re missing a group member.”

@Frederick Buckley 527/200 #36563c The air filled with the scent of ink and parchment, one of Rosaline’s favorite scents. She felt a little more relaxed, especially in the group among such nice people. She smiled as Isabella nodded and made the plan. And the blonde girl’s sudden compliment on her organized inkwell made her quite happy. She replied with a bright smile, “Oh, thank you very much! I love this set of colors; they make the note-taking process easier.” Hearing Isabella’s problem, she chuckled and said, “I have the same problem as you. My notes during the class are always so messy, so I’ll have to rewrite them in my spare time. Though it takes me quite some time, the knowledge would become more solidified.”
After the little chat, she decided to continue her work with the Magical Law. Then Isabella leaned toward her and murmured to her, saying she saw Rosaline and Leo on a picnic the other day. Rosaline blushed immediately and couldn’t meet Isabella’s gaze. In the end, she said in a sotto voce, almost as if she was getting caught, “Ah, it's just a picnic between two friends…” She had no idea why she was behaving this way. Shaking her head, she grabbed her quill and began jotting notes down. Yet she zoned out for a moment, and the next moment she realized she had written down the word ‘Picnic’. She quickly dabbed more ink over it. It was an odd ink spot now.
She heard a crackling sound from across the table. Noticing Fred’s quill was probably broken, and he made a funny comment. Rosaline giggled and handed a new quill to him, “I hope you can tame this new one. Don’t let it rebel again.”
Flipping through the pages of the textbook and the references they had found from the bookshelves, she casted aside the shyness and refocused on the group project. She wrote some quotations because she thought those would be beneficial for their further discussion. Her handwriting was cursive and delicate; she learnt it from her tutor and grandmother. There was one moment they all really concentrated on the project, the scratching of quills on parchment was the only sound. She found it soothing.
Not long after, she heard Leo talk with Fred about the unofficial Quidditch game they had played before, and her name had been mentioned. She looked up and listened to them intently. She chimed in, “I almost forgot that we were all on the same team at that game. It was tough. But I think we played a good game after all the struggle.” Sighing a little, the game had left her with mixed feelings, though she did have fun and learn something. She let the boys keep chatting and returned to the work she hadn’t yet finished.
A period of quiet time passed. Rosaline was content with what she had organized. Glancing around, she felt everyone was ready to discuss. Fred was the first to speak. She agreed with a nod and said, “Yeah, our teamwork is perfect. And I’m almost done here.” Tilting her head, she continued with a confused expression, “Hmm, I wonder where Theodore went.”
