Logan blushed at the thought of her dorm mates. She hadn't actually met any of them. She was asleep by the time they came back to the dorm and she was up before they were awake. She was honestly afraid that they would make fun of her or something else, she honestly was sure.
"I guess a few close friends is better," she muttered at the thought of how many acquaintances she actually had. "I also haven't actually met my dorm mates, or at least I haven't talked to them." She muttered as she looked away from Elsian, a slight blush on her face. Making friends hadn't been her top priority, ever, she had always been concerned about her grades above all else. Her aunt had always thought that she would end up being a Ravenclaw because of how much she worked on homework rather than anything else.
"So what house did you think you where going to end up being in?" Logan questioned as she looked at the Gryffindor. She really didn't want to talk about her issue of having very few friends any more."My family thought I was going to be a Ravenclaw because of how often I work on my work." She honestly couldn't imagine what her father would have said if she had made it into Gryffindor.
Her father may not have cared about if she was friends with Muggle-borns or not but he still had the mindset to think that Gryffindors were lazy and nothing but trouble. That is what being a graduate of Slytherin had done to the man. His family had always been pureblood and the fact that she had not gotten into Gryffindor had made him extremely happy. The last person to have been a Gryffindor in her family had been her Uncle Henry, and he had been removed from the family fortune and told he was no longer part of the family. That had been many years before and his brothers had started talking to him again after a few years.

@Logan BairdElsian hummed, thinking about it before just giving the other a shrug, "I can't say. My family never put much stock into the whole sorting thing. I never really cared so...I didn't really think about what house I'd get." he admitted tapping a finger atop the table, thinking.
"Granted a few other first years thought I'd be Slytherin. One said Ravenclaw...said they thought they'd be Gryffindor," he snickered, "imagine the looks on their faces when I got Gryffindor instead of them. Amazing really. Though I still don't get the big deal with the houses."
Of course he could understand why they'd have mistaken him for a Slytherin but what they hadn't known was he wasn't ambitious in the least. So of course he wouldn't be part of the most ambitious house, he could have easily as told them as much too if they'd been keen on listening but honestly? He wouldn't be surprised if the sorting hat had just dropped him into Gryffindor because he couldn't figure out where to put him. He didn't exactly fit the picture of any houses main qualities after all.
"As long as I do my work, don't cause any problems, my family couldn't care less what house I'm in or what I'm even doing at all." he grinned, "its nice really; but...what about your family? Were they Ravenclaws?" he eyed Logan, trying to picture the other in the house but simply couldn't. Though he knew his view on what the houses were skewered at best so what did he know?

Logan smiled at the thought of Elsian being a Slytherin, she honestly couldn't see the boy getting sorted into that house. Ravenclaw was one she could say he had a chance of getting into. The smile fell a little when it came to what her family thought of her.
"My mother was a Ravenclaw, my father is a Slytherin graduate and still acts like it. My aunt is also a Ravenclaw graduate, although I don't think anyone would be able to tell with how often she makes mistakes with her magic." Logan thought about the kitchen incident all over again and shuddered at the thought.
"My family doesn't care that much about what house we get into, as long as it is not Gryffindor. My father's side of the family has always been Slytherin and will probably never change their minds about Gryffindor." The Hufflepuff thought about all of the times her father told her about what would happen if she made it into Gryffindor. She never really thought the threats were true seeing as her aunt would beat up her father if anything happened to her.
She thought about how she hadn't thought Gryffindor was not a bad house at all and that she was not afraid to make friends from that house. She tucked some of her hair behind her ear and sighed when she looked at almost everyone from all houses getting along. If her father would see this, he would think that she was crazy and so was the school and would immediately send her to a different school. His thoughts had always been that houses could intermingle but should never get too friendly and that Slytherins should never be friends with anyone but their own house and Ravenclaw.

@Logan BairdElsian gave the other a shrug and a small sideways smile, "most people view Ravenclaw as the studious, star student types but that's not what Ravenclaw really stands for after all is it? If anything," he thought about the house distantly, "from what you've described, that's kinda the perfect house for her isn't it?" he questioned though it came out as more of a statement. Firm, showing off just how sure he was of his words. His smile dropped into something more grim at the others words, figure slightly slouching at the thought of people taking houses so seriously.
Yes he'd known there was still plenty of problems between house relations, especially when seeing the prejudice first hand in society but somehow it always hit him in way whenever it was brought up. His family had no such problems but it was hard to ignore when you saw students get upset about being sorted into a house because of what their family or friends would say...
"Ah. Makes sense." it really didn't.
What would have happened if she'd been sorted into his house?
"Guess that means we'll be a secret. Ooh, I feel so special." he deadpanned, but his face did lighten up a bit from his previous look showing that he did find it kinda funny if nothing else. He leaned back, tilting almost dangerously back to stretch. Other students were leaving, most likely to do homework or hang around in the common rooms. A few were just coming in, filling up other tables that had been less filled. He hated the fact that he'd pushed back his astronomy homework away for his 'future self' to deal with... "Does this mean I get a special friendship bracelet?"

Logan's face dropped whenever Elsian started to frown, but a small grin came onto her face whenever he mentioned the friendship bracelets. "Probably not a good idea," Logan giggled as she thought about her art skills, "I am not the best whenever it comes to anything artsy. I can draw a star map but mess up a stick figure."
The small Hufflepuff looked down at her empty plate and debated if she wanted anything else to eat, but in the end decided against it. She pushed her plate a little ways in front of her and pulled her others old astronomy book out of her bag, smiling at the picture of her family on the inside cover.
"You know, we really don't know each other that well." Logan looked up at Elsian when she stated this, the image of her brothers looking up at her.
"What is your favorite animal?" Logan questioned, wanting to start off simple and work from there. She knew that not everyone liked to answer more personal questions, but this one wasn't that personal at all. She looked at Elsian with a grin on her face before looking back down at the book in front of her, turning to the next page which contained an old picture of her mother and father over top of a small map of the Draco constellation.

He slumped forward slightly, closing his eyes and feeling like a satisfied cat ready for a nap, "Fine I'll make the friendship bracelets," he sighed, "make me do all the work." Peeking one eye open at the others words he hummed in agreement, eyeing the book curiously. "Well we did just become friends," he pointed out.
A pause.
"Of course you can draw a freaking star map but fail with a friendship bracelet," he squinted at the other, "that's simply horrible, I'm teaching you how to draw an acceptable stick figure later. No excuses."
There was a small lull in the conversation before he could answer, "Animal huh? if I had to pick only one...cats." He envied them sometimes...lucky little demons. "...I can't believe you made me choose between dogs and cats just now. I feel like I just did a crime or something..." he complained, "I'll never be able to look a dog in the eyes again..."
Despite his groaning about the question he wasn't too bent up about it, and it showed in how the tiny quirk never left his lips even when he complained about Logan tricking him. Picking up on where Logan was going with this he shifted, figuring this was practically like that one ice breaker game the teacher had tried to force the class into...what was it called? 20 questions or something?
"My turn. Um..." he tugged on a strand of hair in thought,"...favorite color?"

Logan huffed and playfully glared at Elsian. "I am not making you do all of the work and I did not make you choose between cats and dogs, you just automatically decided on that." She stated this simply with a smile on her face. Logan looked at Elsian with an eyebrow raised, "I don't think there is any helping me to be able to draw a proper stick figure."
She thought about the family cat and smiled at the thought as Elsian asked his question.
"Favorite color..." the small Hufflepuff thought for a second, knowing this was a harder question, "Probably Midnight Blue, and I can assume that you know the reason already of why that is my favorite color." She smiled at the thought of the night sky as she looked back down at her book and turned to the next page, a map of Scorpio with notes around the edges of it that her mother had written whenever she had gone to Hogwarts.
"Okay, my turn for a question.." Logan had a slightly difficult time thinking about what her question should be whenever she saw a different student's cat a few tables over from her. "Do you have any family pets?" Logan questioned as she looked up at Elsian from the book in front of her. "We have a pet cat, his name is Scottie." As she asked the question her accent became a little more clear, proving more that she wasn't from England originally.

@Logan Baird"You don't know that, maybe I'm actually an amazing stick figure teacher," he said, "don't worry, I won't judge you...to your face." he promised with a straight face, "just silently, behind your back, maybe shedding a tear because I fail you as a teacher but ya know. No pressure."
He sighed at her response, shaking his head the smallest bit for not have guessing that. "Yeah, I guess I do...well that's a question I wasted. I could have asked about your darkest secret or favorite food but no, colors." he groused. "Should have known."
Elsian frowned actually thinking about the question, "not really?" he answered but it came out as a question, "my parents have their own but I don't interact much with owls..." he admitted hesitating the slightest bit. He'd never been a fan of his parents pets. Both owls just seemed to make them look so much more cold and the creatures weren't friendly at all towards anyone but their owners. Heck, he still couldn't understand how people were alright with the creatures perching on their shoulders! He'd avoided the owlery for way longer than he'd care to admit out loud...
"There were strays me and Bea would take care of. Family of kittens and a mother. I'd sneak em' inside all the time whenever it got colder or rained, and the servants have officially just given up on keeping them out ever since last winter...but..." he shrugged, "my parents found out, tried to get rid of them actually. Luckily my aunt found out and she adored them."
Honestly he'd been devastated. It'd only added insult to injury when they offered to get him and Bea some new cats that weren't 'mangy strays'. He'd never seen his aunt so angry before; she spoiled them rotten now and always let him see them when he wanted to visit, even let him bring Bea but he'd never gotten over how his parents had been ready to just throw the cats out into the snow.
"Spoils them rotten," he sighed, "my turn though," he smiled, finger tapping his cheek as he thought, "mm, if you had to choose a club to join which one would you choose?"

Logan smiled at the story of the cats. She wasn't the happiest about the fact his parents didn't like the cats but she did like the fact that his aunt took the cats in for him so that he didn't have to leave them out in the cold.
"If I could join a club.." she trailed off as she thought out loud as she rested her chin on her hand and looked at Elsian. She honestly didn't know how to answer the question and after a few quiet seconds she thought of something.
"If the club were out of school, I would probably choose another Equestrian club. If the club was in school, I probably wouldn't join any." Logan glanced up at Elsian again with a faint smile on her face, "Is that answer allowed, because I am not interested in any of the clubs here. Also the fact that I am not the best whenever it comes to interacting with other people, let alone groups."
Logan had come up with the first answer that she could think of and smiled to herself at the thought of joining another Equestrian club. She hadn't been in one since she was younger and had first started to do show jumping, but she had quit after her mother had died and she didn't compete as often anymore.
The small Hufflepuff looked down at her astronomy book, trying to think of another question to ask Elsian, whenever a picture of her brothers and their house elf Kall fell out of one of the later pages. She smiled down at the picture and slid it into the front before looking back up at Elsian.
"Does your family have any house elves? We have Kall, but he just does all of the cooking because that is something that doesn't run in the family. As I said earlier, most of my family burns almost everything whenever any of us attempt to cook. I am not awful, but Kall doesn't trust me due to past incidents." Logan smiled at the thought of the little old house elf yelling at her brothers to stop throwing flour at each other and for her to get out of the kitchen.

@Logan Baird"Wow, I'd never have guessed that one," he admitted looking slightly impressed, "well, same on the whole club pass, too much people." And way too much effort in his opinion. "Too bad there's not a club like it, maybe you could start one though."
Of course, starting a club was way too much work in his opinion. Really the other kids who started clubs? He admired their willingness to put themselves out there at least but from what he'd seen so far few of the clubs actually stuck around for long. One of the big reasons he was pretty sure he'd never join one. Why bother when chances were it wouldn't even last the year? Somehow though, he had the feeling he'd actually end up trying to help a club if it mattered to a friend...
"Actually wait, no. I take back. Don't start a club," he began, straightening when he started to feel slightly panicked at the thought of Sage and Mozark catching wind of the idea, they'd definitely find a way to make it work and he'd suffer because of it. "Please." he added on, "I'll never get any sleep if you do."
He moved on quickly, very unwilling to discuss the topic with the threat of his...friends, well Mozark was more like a pest who was just ridiculously determined... but the reasoning still stood, finding out. Both of them were too energetic and Sage had the talent of guilt tripping him without even realizing it. If a club caught both of their attention he'd never know peace again. "We have house elves, though mostly human staff...At least at the manor I stay at."
When he was younger he knows he'd been to the other family residences but he could hardly remember them. He only knew the manor and his Aunties place.
"I only really hang out with Bea though. The others never let us even near the kitchens or chores. Said we'd find a way to cause trouble." he huffed, failing to hide the childish sulk, "play a prank or two on the tutors and your labeled a trouble maker for life. Not fair at all."
He waved it off with a huff, "doesn't matter though I guess, anyways, what do you like to do? Like, besides your favorite school subject since I already know what that is."
