Don’t Ever Make me Make Another Herbicide Potion Again!
Lesson 1: The Basics of Potions.

Potions was the last class I had to go to. I’ve already been to my other classes…at think I think I did. This place was huge, ok? I sat down and got ready for the class.
It was explained to us that we’d be learning 3 basic potions for this class. The Cure for Boils, Herbicide Potion, and the Forgetfulness Potion. The Cure for Boils was a potion that would, well, health boils, pimples and so on. The Herbicide Potion was a potion that was designed to kill/wither plants and finally, the Forgetfulness Potion causes short-term memory loss. Most of those were pretty obvious though, it was kinda in the name. We had all of our ingredients we’d be using for our potions set up in front of our desks so after everything was explained, we got to work.
First was the Cure for Boils. According to the book you’d need to crush the 6 snake fangs, then add in 4 horned slugs, 2 porcupine quills- tho those would have to be added in after the cauldron was removed from the fire because it would explode otherwise, some chopped dandelion root and finally, water. I started on crushing the snake fangs and I really didn’t enjoy the sound, I hated the sound of things cracking, it was just weird but I finished and put those into the cauldron. Next, I added the 4 horned slugs… I kinda felt bad that they had to be part of this but it was for potions class after all, then I chopped the dandelion roots and put them in there. Once I had all of those ingredients in there, I took the cauldron off the fire so I could add the 2 quills and finally, the water and I was done with that one.

Next up, Herbicide Potion. According to the book you’d need flobberworm mucus, hellebore juice, a dandelion root, shrivelfig, and water. I stared at the flobberworm mucus in disgust, no wonder this potion kills plants. I took the small bottle and dripped some into the potion and set it aside before I grabbed the hellebore juice bottle and opened that one- oh god, it smelled horrible! I quickly dropped some into the cauldron before immediately closing the bottle shut! This potion was worse than the Cure for Boils… well, the Cure for Boils wasn’t really bad at all but still! Next, I added the dandelion root then the added the shrivelfig into it too. I waited a bit before I added the water and then it was completed.

Finally, the Forgetfulness Potion. Hopefully it wasn’t going to be as bad as the herbicide potion… I mean- the forgetfulness potion didn’t seem to have terrible ingredients sooo. The ingredients I’d need for this included a valerian root, peppermint and peppermint oil with some water. That didn’t seem too bad and it probably wasn’t anyway. I got started with the valerian root before adding in the peppermint then the bottle of peppermint oil and finished it off with some water. It was done- way better than the herbicide potion and quicker than both of the previous potions. AND there didn’t have any gross ingredients to this one either. I wondered how this potion tasted with all minty peppermint included in it.
I was finished with all my potions. I felt good about this class and I felt like I did a good job today. I always enjoyed doing hands-on stuff than just reading from a textbook constantly so I wasn’t complaining about this class.
