A meeting at the autumn ball

Elisabeth had dreamed of the Fall Ball so much. She had heard about it in September less than a week after starting school. It wasn't uncommon for her to hear other year students say in the hallways that it was the most beautiful ball of the whole year. After receiving confirmation of the ball, the young girl began preparing her dress for the occasion. She opened her suitcase and looked inside for a blue dress, azure blue. Once she found it, she laid her clothes on her bed and began to put it on. The dress perfectly matched her hair and eyes. The young girl then tied her hair up in a bun, leaving two strands of her blond hair falling in front of her eyes. Then she put on a little makeup, putting a little gloss on her lips, a little mascara on her eyes. When she was finally ready, the young girl went down to the large lake where the Fall Ball was taking place. There she met up with her friends, with whom she began to chat animatedly. All of her friends' dresses were gorgeous, and the young girl was eager to see the other students' dresses and outfits.

Ryder was soo not excited for the ball, but he had come just because his friends had dragged him along. He had no interest whatsoever and was just watching everyone in the ball. His eyes roamed around the Great Lake, it was well set up for the Autumn Ball, he had to give it that. The ground looked amazing and for some reason the sky was twinkling more.
It was the king of weather and location that Ryder loved most.
He looked over the grounds, his slightly messy jet brunette hair falling into his eyes, when he saw her.
She looked about his age, wearing an Azure blue dress, her hair tied up in a messy but elegent bun. The moonlight cast some light on her face, and in Ryder's eyes, it couldnt look better. He saw her talking to some other girls, probably her friends? Ryder thought of going up to her, but it felt too soon, maybe he will wait a little.
Ryder noticed that he had been staring for too long and he looked back quickly. Hopefully she wont notice. I'll wait for a while to start up a conversation or maybe ask her to dance?
Maybe this night won't turn out as bad as he had expected it to.

As Elizabeth spoke with her friends, she watched the other students arrive in their uniforms. A few minutes later, a young boy, who looked about her age, particularly caught her attention. In the distance, she saw him looking at her.
When he quickly looked away, Elizabeth took the opportunity to observe him. He was a slim boy, but from the way his body was made, he would be rather athletic. He had slightly tanned skin, a rather relaxed posture, and his hair was brown. From a distance, it was impossible for the young girl to tell the color of his eyes.
It was then that one of Elizabeth's friends nudged her and told her that the boy, whom the girl had noticed earlier, had been looking at her a lot. Elizabeth smiled at her friend and told her that she had noticed. Another of her friends told her that maybe she should go talk to him, but the girl refused. She's not really for approaching someone like that. Her friends suggested that they move closer to the boy. Elizabeth accepted, and they all went to sit in another corner closer to the boy. Elizabeth warned them that there was no way she was going to do anything else to satisfy their whim. And with a burst of laughter, the conversations resumed.

Ryder noticed the girl and her friends move closer to the place he was in, he had been hoping maybe the girl would be .... err... less accompanied.....he pulled himself together and thought of asking the girl to a dance.
What harm could it do right?
He looked over at the girl and noticed her laughing with her friends, gosh her laugh was so infectious, it could light up any room, so melodious.
Okay, he needed to know her name instead of calling her "The girl". Ryder pulled up his courage and walked over to the girls, "Hello Ladies, having a lovely evening I hope." He smiled to all of them hoping to pull up a conversation somehow and maybe grab her attention, he thought on maybe getting to know her a bit and then ask her to a dance.
It would seem awkward if he came out of nowhere, " Ryder Hawke, nice to meet you lovely ladies." He introduced himself and looked over at her, hoping she would get the hint and introduce herself.
Her friends had started giggling by now, looking at the scene unfold but he didnt care, atleast he didnt ignored them and came off in a manner his parents had told him to always keep with himself during an event. He thought that was the only thing his parents cared about 'family perfection for the world'.

Elizabeth laughed when one of her friends took her hands and told her that if the girl looked to her right, there was the boy who had been watching her a few minutes ago. Elizabeth turned, fluttering her robes. The young boy arrived and greeted them, telling them it had been a lovely evening. Then he introduced himself. Elizabeth noticed from his way of speaking that the young boy came from a distinguished family. Elizabeth had been exactly as expected to speak like that, but since arriving at Hogwarts, the young girl had abandoned this manner. Then the boy introduced himself; his name was Ryder Hawke. Then, Elizabeth introduced herself:
"My name is Elizabeth, Elizabeth Hamilton. Nice to meet you!"
Seeing that her friends around her preferred to giggle rather than introduce themselves, the young girl kindly said to them:
"Girls, weren't you supposed to join your partners?"
It was then that all her friends looked at each other and told her she was right. All the girls went to join a group of boys a little further away. Elizabeth turned to Ryder.
"Excuse me, my friends often make fun of me, but it's not mean."
Slightly embarrassed, the young girl didn't really know what to say, so she tried to start a conversation.
"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?"
The young girl didn't dare tell him that compared to her friends, she didn't have a date.

Ryder felt a wave of relief wash into him as her friends went away, he didnt realised he had been tense. Now only Him and Isabelle were left side by side beneath the glowing candlelight.
When she mentioned her friends liked to annoy her, Ryder chuckled, "Yeah, thats what friends are for right?" He knew from experience that friends are made to tease you relentlessly.
Ryder smiled when She mentioned the moon, "Yeah it really is beautiful" he looked over at the sky noticing the faint illuminating light of the moon falling into the lake, making it glimmer. It really was a beautiful evening. Before Ryder could stop himself he said looking over at her, "Though I think the moon might have competition tonight." When he realized that he said that out loud, a faint blush covered his cheeks as he turned his face away.
They both stood like that for some time, the silence not awkward but rather peaceful. It felt at ease. Ryder gathered up his courage and looked towards her, "Supposing that no one asked you to dance yet, that you don't have a date, and I dont have a date.........Elizabeth Hamilton....would you give me the honor for this dance?"

Elizabeth saw from the young boy's reaction that he was relieved that his friends had left. He pointed out to her that what friends were for was to gently tease, to laugh, to chat. Elizabeth smiled at this remark. It's true that friends were for her. Following Elizabeth's remark about the moon, Ryder said she was right, then he added that the moon had some competition that evening. Ryder had said this while looking at the young girl, and quickly turned his head away, his cheeks slightly red. Elizabeth blushed too; it was rare for someone to give her such a sincere compliment. A silence fell, then after a few minutes, Ryder spoke again and asked Elizabeth if she would dance with him. Elizabeth's cheeks turned very red. The young girl smiled at him and replied,
"I don't have a date, indeed. So, it's with pleasure that I agree to dance with you."
Elizabeth smiled kindly at him. This was the first time she'd been invited to dance in such a beautiful way.
Usually, the boys who wanted to dance with her at her parents' galas only invited her because their parents never asked them, because Elizabeth was nice. This time, the young boy who asked her to dance seemed rather nice.

Ryder's heart skipped a beat when Isabella agreed, her cheeks turning a beautiful shade of somewhat between red and pink.
For a second, he couldn't believe that she had said yes. Relief had washed over him quickly followed by a rush of excitement. He smiled back at her and spoke trying to keep calm in his composure. He had never felt this nervous before and didnt know this feeling but somehow it felt nice.
He offered her his hand with a swift little bow, dancing classes might have payed off. His hand was a little hesitant at first but warm and steady as she took it.
He led them towards the dance floor where other students were swaying to the music, all his nerves about the ball dissipated in the moment. It felt natural, like this was meant to be. Ryder placed one hand gently on Elizabeth’s shoulder as they began to dance. He couldn’t help but think she looked even more radiant and perfect up close, and for the first time that night, he was genuinely glad his friends had dragged him here. He had been upset about coming but now he was glad, really glad.
He struck up a conversation as to not make this dance awkward, "So is this your first ball at Hogwarts too?"

In front of her, Ryder gallantly extended his hand. Elizabeth, after smiling, placed hers in Ryder's hand. Ryder's hand was both warm and soft. He led her onto the dance floor and then placed his hands on Elizabeth's shoulders. Gently, he began to waltz. Elizabeth also placed her hands on Ryder's shoulders and began to follow the movements of the waltz. It was neither too fast nor too slow. Ryder asked her if this was her first Hogwarts ball. Before answering, Elizabeth thought for a moment before replying. Yes, it was her first Hogwarts ball, but not her first ball either.
"It's my first Hogwarts ball, but my parents organize a lot of balls at home! And you?"
Elizabeth had seen his way of behaving that he came from a large family. He was approaching the same posture as his two older brothers.
Thinking of her older brothers, Elizabeth thought that if they saw her in the company of a young boy, they would have scolded him, but they weren't sure if they noticed that the person she was dancing with came from a good family.
The girl raised her head slightly towards Ryder, and her cheeks flared, how was it that she blushed so much in front of a boy?
