Serena stood there, staring at awkward for a minute, not willing to turn around until she was sure she gathered herself. She heard what the professor said, and then she heard a girl offer to go first, which no one objected to. Serena turned her head to listen, but not enough so anyone could see her face. The song was very beautiful, actually calming her down a little. Serena turned her body a little more, and to her surprise, the girl up there was crying, but they didn't look like tears of sadness like Serena was experiencing, but ones of somewhat joy. It made Serena smile a little, relieving her of the sadness she was feeling from seeing Alan again.
Assuming the girl that had just finished her song moved from where the auditions were suppose to be done, Serena wiped the tears from her eyes and grabs Awkward before she runs up to the audition area, she says in a sort of hoarse voice, "My turn." She cleared her throat before beginning in a sweet voice, and slow pace: "When did I become so numb? When did I lose myself? All the words that leave my tongue, feel like they came from someone else.." She started to get nervous, noticing everyone looking at her. So she decided to do what her mother taught her to; she closed her eyes and began singing again: "I'm paralyzed. Where are my feelings? I no longer feel things, I know I should. I'm paralyzed. Where is the real me? I'm lost and it kills me..inside. I'm paralyzed."
Her heart started to get heavy, her eyes started to produce tears, but she didn't open her eyes to wipe them away, she just continued on singing: "When did I become so cold? When did I become ashamed? 'Ribbit!'" She opened her eyes as she heard Awkward, letting some tears flow down her cheeks, looking down at him and smiling before continuing, picking up her pace: "Where's the person that I know? They must have left. They must have left, with all my faith. I'm paralyzed!.." She began putting a lot more emotion into her singing, causing Awkward to let out a loud, long croak: "Where are my feelings? I no longer feel things, I know I should. I'm paralyzed. Where is the real me? I'm lost and it kills me..inside. I'm paralyzed!.."
She held the last paralyzed a little longer before picking up her pace again for the next part: "I'm paralyzed. I'm scared to live but I'm scared to die, and if life is pain then I buried mine a long time ago but its still alive. And its taking over me where am I? I wanna feel something, I'm numb inside, but I feel nothing, I wonder why. I'm in the race of life and time passed by. Look, I sit back and I watch it, hands in my pockets. Waves come crashing over me but I just watch'em, I just watch 'em. I'm underwater but I feel like I'm on on top of it. I'm at the bottom and I don't know what the problem is. I'm in a box, but I'm the one who locked me in. Suffocating and I'm running out of oxygen."
She took a deep breath as Awkward jumped onto her head and let out another loud, long croak, finally getting to the end part: "I'm paralyzed! Where are my feelings? I no longer feel things, I know I should. I'm paralyzed! Where is the real me? I'm lost and it kills me..inside. I'm paralyzed..." She held the last 'paralyzed' for a couple of seconds before she was done. She quickly walked away from the audition area, leaving Awkward on her head. She was trying to wipe all of the tears out of her eyes, but more were coming, and again, somehow Awkward could tell, so he started to rub his head on her's, trying to give her comfort. She wanted to run out but she didn't, she stood her ground, refusing to run away like all of the other times.

Mentions Morfran Griffith, Dymphna Teague, Serena Davies
Professor Griffith had not seen the weirdest yet to come, but he would certainly suffer that bizarre, awestruck smile for a few moments more. The auditions would finally steal away the young wizard's attention. Pericles did not know Dymphna Teague, only recognizing her as a fellow Ravenclaw, yet as soon as her song started his eyes went wide and spine straightened. He knew which play the lyrics came from, glancing about to see if others did as well. It took him back to a memorable night at a theater. His pureblood parents were not especially keen on going to the movies, but his father was enthusiastic about live performances, muggle cast or otherwise. Sweeney Todd was a personal favorite. Come its conclusion, he propped his toad's pillow perch up onto his forearms, freeing his hands so he could clap politely. The sound and smile faded when he noticed the glisten of tears on her cheeks. A faint shade of perplexity crossed his youthful features, but it was gone by the time the next girl stepped forth. For the moment. Then Serena Davies' words, wrought with emotion and attesting to a deep aching emptiness, brought back his concern tenfold. A worried glance was flicked for Professor Griffith. Peri's father had jokingly alluded, once, to the enigma of women and the anxieties awaiting all teenagers. Was that why the girls were crying? He looked around uncomfortably, but when the Hufflepuff rejoined those waiting for their turn, he leaned her way with what he hoped was a comforting whisper. "It's alright. You did really good."
He would take his turn next, hoping to clear his head. Pericles wasn't well-versed in muggle music, and the boy was suddenly, uncharacteristically, met with an unfamiliar flicker of stage fright. A moment was taken to combat it with sensibility. Bursting out in Old English Folk felt too tidy for this particular audience, but his mother had trained his voice for choir-song, and it wasn't as though he was auditioning for a rock-n-roll band. What did he really have to worry about...? Naturally, Peri spent this bout of excessive introspection staring at his toad with what looked to be absolute air-headedness. He blinked back, glancing up and around before standing, still carefully cradling his singing partner's pillow.
"There were three ravens sat on a tree. Down-a-down, hey, down-a-down...." His voice was of average range, something of an alto, appropriate for his age. That pitch may change (drastically) in a year or two, but in that moment it rang clear and even. "They were black as they might be, with a down.... The one of them said to his mate: 'What shall we for breakfast take?' With a down, derry derry derry down-" Crrrrrrrroak. Pericles paused, looking down with a start. The yellow-black toad in his hands stared contentedly onward, unassuming, so the boy picked up again. "Down in yonder green field, down-a-down," croak "down-a-down. There lies a knight slain under his shield, with a down..." crrrroak.
The final "down" had trailed on a long, lilting, haunting melodic note, but Pericles was undaunted by the macabre nature of the song. His singing was stopped by snickers, nose wrinkled, amusement dancing in his eyes for the musical timing of the toad. He couldn't go on so he took he stepped back into the group, muttering "Oh, well done, my baritone friend!" The toad blinked one golden eye, then the other.

Griffith waved at the newcomers, and returned the greeting with his own "Evening", but his attention was mostly being taken up by the singers. It was not a good feeling that crept over the Gryffindor Professor, but rather a feeling of acute dread. The Teague girl had seemed rather level headed, but she was singing with a rather intense amount of emotion. A intense emotion that loomed with a foreboding precedent. Were they all going to be like this? This was for a frog choir, this wasn't the next England's got talent. She was singing really well, and he managed to remain calm as he began to clap, although he was beginning to grasp what sort of song they were going to be singing. He wasn't being paid enough to deal with teen angst.
However, internally griping though he was, when the ravenclaw was finished with her song, he gave a reassuring
"You did smashing."
With a slight bit of a british accent that probably came along with thinking about british shows. He idly wondered if "smashing" was still a word the kids used when the next girl stepped up and began to positively ooze angst. She had a beautiful singing voice, practically guaranteed a spot in the choir, but Griffith wondered what would happen if she broke down during a practice, would he have to comfort her? How would he do that, anyway? Just throw a cute creature in her general direction and hope she liked whatever he happened to be carrying enough to calm down? He made a mental note to carry something cute with him the next time they held a practice, but luckily, after he congratulated her, albeit with a
"Good job, you did well."
In a entirely normal accent, the awkward ravenclaw boy stepped up. The first thing that Griffith thought was that the boy's voice hadn't dropped yet, and that he was in for a world of hurt when it did. He enjoyed the simpler song quite a bit more, although he didn't show it. No latent parental issues there, just a kid who liked to sing, and probably figured this would be a good place to talk to girls. He was fine with both of those, so long as the latter was done with some degree of subtlety.
"You as well, very well done. And looks like your friend is already getting the hang of things."
He would have to find music that worked well to all the members of the choir. Realistically, his only saving grace was that they were all pretty similar. Most were too young to have changed much in their pitch. He idly wondered if anyone would notice if he snagged some poem from tolkien and put sheet music to it as he motioned the next participant up to the impromptu stage area
"Alright, next up. If you've already gone, you can feed your frog another bug, and maybe select a pillow, if you haven't already."

Santario clapped in turn for each performer as they sang everyone here was so good so far, and she had only ever practiced at home with her parents. They always told her she was a good singer, but they were her parents and obviously supposed to say that even if she sounded like a cat yowling at the moon. She was nervous, and it felt like her stomach was all of a sudden hollow. She just needed to get it done and get it over with, and then maybe she wouldn’t mind it so much anymore. So with that, after Pericles was finished, Santario moved to take the next spot.
“Everyone here is outstanding so far… I am going to sing the lullaby that my father always sings to me when I am home.” A lullaby? How stupid did that sound?! A slight flush covered her porcelain pale complexion as she looked down at the toad that she was holding. “There aren’t a lot of low parts Toadsworth, but feel free to chime in whenever you please.” She took a deep breath, licked her lips, and swallowed hard before starting.
At first, as she started, her silvery voice was a little quiet, betraying her nerves.
A rumble of deep croaking that almost sounded like a mimic of Loo-li Lai-Lay sounded from Toadsworth.
It didn’t take long before her quiet voice filled with powerful confidence as she looked out over her peers. Her voice had a range of lower and higher notes, making her a mezzo-soprano. The higher notes wouldn’t be as developed as they would be when she was older, but her 11-year-old voice would still hit them well enough.
When she was finished, she smiled at her peers and stroked her toad gently on his head. “Thank you for listening.” She stepped away to get Toadsworth another bug in gratitude for singing with her.

“ Lay down your head and I'll sing you a lullaby
Back to the years of loo-li lai-lay
And I'll sing you to sleep and I'll sing you tomorrow
Bless you with love for the road that you go
May you sail far to the far fields of fortune
With diamonds and pearls at your head and your feet
And may you need never to banish misfortune
May you find kindness in all that you meet
May there always be angels to watch over you
To guide you each step of the way
To guard you and keep you safe from all harm

People kept coming, which brought Ruthie a passing smile, especially as she noticed Gris enter the hall. Being in different houses meant that she had fewer interactions with the Gryffindor. Hopefully, this was one way to remedy that. But Gris was quickly found by some other students, including the girl who'd named her friend Awkward. The young Hufflepuff seemed so enthusiastic, Ruthie could forgive that arguably unfortunate frog name choice. Perhaps the frog might wear it as a badge of pride.
As she walked with Peri, she couldn't help but notice the surprise in his demeanor. It was common knowledge that he was musical, wasn't it? Or at least he looked like it--he was one of the most recognizable 1st year Ravenclaws with his white hair and scholarly glasses--and thankfully he was, indeed. "Of course I am!" she beamed, genuinely glad he and all these others had come out to the hall. She waited patiently for him to scrutinize the music. She liked singing, yes, and getting people together, but she wasn't an expert. Far from it. It'd be good to have a second opinion. "Simple, right," she repeated rhetorically, "And voice type. Got it. Thanks, Peri!" Nodding, she tried to remember that, although she had a feeling it would be just as fleeting as it had arrived. Hopefully, Griffith had more ideas on music and how to organize. At least Peri was a solid resource.
Soon another Slytherin would rush in, assuming she was late. Luckily, they hadn't really started yet. With a frog in hand, she walked over to Ru, greeting her with enthusiasm. "He's a big boy! Maybe he's got a deep frog voice," Ruthie responded playfully. It was quite a large frog with tall eyes. Funny how many frogs varieties there were and how each seemed to reflect their new owner in a way. "Thank you for coming. I'm Ruthie," she introduced herself quietly as Professor Griffith began to speak.
That was when it got scary: auditions. Ru had sort of expected it, but she had been praying that by making members list their vocal range on the sign up sheet, the whole singing-alone-in-front-of-people thing might be avoided. Griffith had provided a small respite, however: they could perform in groups should they wish. Quickly, Ruthie looked around for a partner. One would do; too many and it'd be hard to find a song they all knew. Eventually, her eyes settled on the Ravenclaw Prefect. After a brief exchange, they had agreed to go together. They'd seen each other fall during Quidditch practice so this couldn't be much worse. Still, they hung at the back and let some other brave souls, like Dymph, go first. The Veela did not disappoint, though hers and the ones that would follow were unknown to the Scottish girl. The songs were all different, but all a little bleak. At least Peri got his frog to croak with him, quite effectively too, and Santario had some hope in her song. Still, this was all together very different from what her and Cecily had prepared.
Looking at the older blonde, she nodded and together they walked with their frogs to the front of the hall. Ruthie wondered for a moment if they should introduce the song like Santario had done, but eventually what came out was just, "Okay, so we'll just be going next then." Very smooth. Together, they started their acapella number:
I love you, I love you, I love you so (L-O-V-E)
I only leave my house when I have somewhere to go
I only stop for petrol when I find I'm running low
I only buy birthday cards for people that I know
And I only brought you flowers because I love you so
The opening 'I love you's were sung in tandem, but then Ruthie broke off to add the 'L-O-V-E' while Cecily stuck to the main lyrics. Ruthie was happy to occupy this embellishing role when needed. As they sang this happy track, the blonde couldn't help but sway slightly with the music.
When you get home and you walk through the door (Walk through the door)
You can't believe that I have sent you some more (Sent you some more)
Oh yeah it is expensive
But you're worth it don't you know
And I will keep on sending flowers because I love you so
Her eyes looked down when she noticed Sir Hoppington croacking naturally at the verse pauses, often in tandem with her own melodical asides. It wasn't perfect, but perhaps she had picked a good frog after all.
Roses are red and violets are blue (So blue)
foxgloves and magnolias can bloom in any hue (Any hue)
I don't claim to be an expert but there is one thing I know
A pretty bunch of flowers always says I love you so
The verses were easy and melodic. They divided it up nicely between their two young voices. And that's how they took the stage with their cheerful 'I love you's, which would hopefully set a positive stage for the future of Frog Choir.
Permission to godmode from @Cecily Quinn, who if she wants to elaborate on this audition, totally can. Also interacting with @Pericles Dralt & @Santario Martin.

Mentions @ Griseldis Edelhardt @ Serena Davies
Alan was sitting away yet closer to his friend Gris as the young lad felt comfortable near someone familiar, which nullified the anxiety. Alan watched as people took their turn to sing their heart out. Worried about his turn and performance. Alan feared he might croak like his little toad friend in his hand to which the young man named without any regrets in mind ' Sir Ribbitstein.'
The toad now dubbed ' Sir Ribbitstein' sat in the boys lap quietly croaking, Alan watched as one by one the list of people sang their songs. He was amazed at the talent most people displayed. To Alans surprise Serena Davies despite cringing at her amphibious friend's name choice (Not that he had a right to complain) handled her audition beautifully which bolstered his resolve slightly. Distracted by all the ongoing performance, a song to sing completely eluded Alan. Looking down at his toad, it looked back up as he whispered to it "Hopefully we can make a first impression at least little guy." 'Sir Ribbitstein' responded with yet another croak as if pretending to acknowledge and understand what Alan was talking about.
After a short while and with nobody else volunteering, Alan cupped his toad into his hand, having thought of a song his Nan used to sing while baking in her little shop. It lingered on his mind how much he used to sing along while 'helping' around the shop as he said nervously "I-I-I'll go; next, I guess, while th-the song is still in my mind" Stepping onto the stage. Alan's anxiety skyrocketed, palms were sweaty, the chest was pounding he was lucky to not have fainted though the impulse to run away steadily grew. Sir Ribbitstein looked up then back to the crowd expecting Alan to sing right away. There was a long pause for the lad, looking towards his peers, his friend and the professor. Alan let out a deep sigh and just decided to go with it as he said with a stutter "W-w-well here goes suppose" peering down onto the toad he muttered, "First impressions now little guy." He said out loud before proceeding "T-This song is called Binks Sake."
Closing his eyes pretending the crowd wasn't there and picturing his Nan in the little bakery, Alan cleared his throat as he began to sing the song at first his voice cracked due to the nerves. But after the first set of lyrics and verses, it began to flow naturally. Sounding off key at some parts the toad bopped it's head along to the sea shanty as if looking for a moment to chime in with several off-key croaks. Sir Ribbetstein gradually got into the flow by the second set of "Yo-hos.
