@Seth Reed

Slowly, Flac opened the small role of parchment, his mother's owl brought him. He had found a quiet spot on the side the crowded courtyard and sat here on the snow covered grass, the small Soumange's owl of his mother, a beautiful, red bird, sitting on his lap where he occasionally stoked it. The owl knew, that once Flac had red a letter he would respond immediately, so she stayed with him and waited patiently till the blonde boy was needing her again. On top of his habits the bird knew, that Flac was usually generous with owl treats and it was not to eager to fly through the snowfilled clouds and over the stormy sea again.

The first thing Flac noticed, when the knot that held the parchment together finally came lose, was a small piece of ordinary muggle paper that fell out of the rolled parchment. He could only read the first few letters, stating "Dr. med.", then the paper was suddenly raised by the cold wind and flew, light as a feather, through the courtyard.

Flac jumped on his feet, the shrill protest of the owl ignoring, and ran, his black winter cloak blowing behind him, into the crowd to find the paper again, followed by the red winged bird. The main letter his mother sent him was lying on the spot the young Hufflepuff was sitting bevor, where he accidentally dropped it in his shock.

Sorry, I know, I took my sweet time to answer and even worse, this is the courtyard and not the astronomy tower, but I figured this would make more sense. I hope, it is okay.

Seth stood in the crowd and thought about the things that changed over the last few days. He had talked to strangers and his mother did not punish him. He had learned new things without his mother or father. And of course he wasn't alone in his room anymore. All these things were new to him, but still not bad.
I can't believe mother and father were in Hogwarts too, Seth thought. They are so cold and unfriendly to strangers. I bet they hadn't any friends here... Well, father is actually nicer than mother, maybe he had some -...

Suddenly, a paper flew right in Seth's face. He made a surprised noise, then he took the paper. First, he wanted to throw it away but then he saw a blond haired boy who ran through the crowd. Maybe it belongs to him?, Seth thought. He knew he should go to the other boy to ask him, if the paper belonged to him. Seth also knew that talking with strangers was not bad at all, although he hated it sometimes.
But nothing would change if Seth did not try to change it.

So the pale boy walked to the blonde haired boy and smiled friendly. "Are you searching this?", Seth asked and raised his hand with the paper.

Sorry for the mistakes. Maybe I correct them later.

"Oh thank god.", Flac exclaimed, "yes, I was searching that, thank you for catching it." It took him a few moments to catch his breath till he reached out to take the paper out of the boys hand. While trying to get his note back, he looked at Seth more closely.

Quickly, he noticed the silver and green accessories his peer wore and concluded, that he was in Slytherin. He did not judge him for that, as he valued every house equally. 'Well, that could chance ones I start watching Quidditch. ', he thought slightly amused, bevor concentrating on the other boy ones again. He noticed, that the uniform of the Slytherin was a bit to long and grinned. Normally his clothes would look just like this, but he had never seen someone else sporting that look. It looked cute, he figured, at least on the other boy.

The red owl landed on his shoulder, still visible angry with Flac because he scared her by standing up to quickly when she was relaxing on his lap. To punish the son of her master she picked his ear - it looked more painful than it actually was though - and then, for good measure, his yellow Hufflepuff scarf. Then she too looked at Seth and waited.

Seth smiled friendly, although he did not feel comfortable. Why did the stranger looked so closely at him? Have I done something wrong? Seth thought and forced himself to keep smiling. But he caught his breath and put his hands in the pockets of his pants, just to hide his tension. Actually, Seth wanted to ask the boy if everything was okay or if he did something wrong but then the owl landed on the shoulder of the stranger. Seth stepped back and watched the owl with a curious glimpse. Of course Seth knew what owls looked like but this owl... This owl looked different.

"Your owl looks beautiful", Seth admitted and pointed smiling with his chin at the owl. Some people would think he only said that because he wanted to be nice to the stranger but Seth was not a liar. He really liked the owl of the stranger, despite she looked angry and seemed to be a bit aggressive.

Where are my manners?, Seth thought suddenly. I need to introduce myself. Mother would be ashamed if she new that. So he coughed slightly and took his and out of his pockets. "By the way, I am Seth Reed."

"Unfortunately, it is not my owl. It's my mothers. But I agree that she is beautiful." Flac smiled and tucked the paper he got back into a pocket. He had stopped inspecting the young Slytherin, even though the posture of the boy intrigued him. It looked so cool and lax and one did not have to think of his gestures all the time.

But his formal education forbid him to mimic the posture of his peer right away. Instead, he shook the hand of the boy, his grip being surprisingly firm for a eleven year old, but not painfully so. "Nice to meet you, Seth. My name is Flac. Flac Flintshire."

With the formal part of an introduction out of the way, Flac slowly put his hands into the pockets of his coat. The posture was really relaxing! Only the piece of paper in his pocket was irritating, but he could ignore that.

Only an eyelid flicker later, the Hufflepuff stopped dead in his tracks. There was only one piece of paper in his pockets. Where was the parchment? The letter his mother send him? Quickly, he patted himself down, but it was no where to be found.

"I am so sorry, I will be back in a second.", he quickly excused himself from the other boy - Seth, as he remembered one second later - and sprinted back to where he sat earlier. While running he noticed two things: first, that his mothers owl was shrieking angrily again, as his sudden sprint nearly pushed her of his shoulder and to the ground and second, that he had had theoretically no reason to tell the Slytherin boy he would be back, they had not yet developed a real conversation he had to come back to, nor did he owe Seth anything. Yet he was not mad at himself for saying it, as he was eager to get in touch with different people anyway and Seth seemed genuine and well behaved on top of his friendly smiles.
