@Opeila Seilun & @Jack BurnettGem always thought he was good at diffusing situations, but when he was told to bugger off, he'd bugger off. A few steps backwards, and he was relying on the presence of Alina to be a sort of relaxer for him - but even as he turned his head in hopes he'd see her there, she just... wasn't. Great. It was tempting to up and leave, but anything could happen, it could blow far out of proportion, there'd be kicking and hitting - that was a risk he wasn't sure he was willing to take.
From his distance, he heard shouting, bitter words off the tongue, and saw tears. Clenching his jaw in an anxious anticipation, he watched them separate. Would now be a good time to go after Jack and ask him what the hell happened back there? Because it was... tempting. Again with the clone thing, he wished he could be there for the two of them... there was some emotional turmoil going on, and neither of them were really in the right.
Exhaling, he strode to Opelia first, his lips pressed together, watching Jack leave out the corner of his eye. He wasn't sure what it was, but his instinct to go running after whoever had left made him seem like a terrible person.
"Ehm... do you need a hug?" He asked lowly, opening up his arms a bit awkwardly - awkwardly, but warmly. "I know we've joost met, but... They help, if ya like em?" Great usage of words, Gem. Just phenomenal.action: use ability calming presence
What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

"Ehm... do you need a hug? I know we've joost met, but... They help, if ya like em?"
Opeila couldn't even shake her head. There it was again. The tiredness now mixed with a horrible emptyness. "How could he do that?", she wispered under her breath, looking down on the Slytherin Robe her housemate had left behind. She held on to it like some lifebelt. "I saw that he didn't want to? So...why would he do that?" Her voice was trembling with despair. "Is that some strange thing boys have fun doing?", she looked at the Ravenclaw who offered her a hug. She couldn't She couldn't bare it right now, couldn't bare to make new friends, just after her courage to overcome past mistakes had been punished with the same results as in the past. "Or ist it because of me? Is there something about me that makes people want to just drop me when I need them?"
Her hands clasped the robe so tight that seams made warning noises. Then she just dropped it on the floor as if it had burned her hands. "Damn you, Jack Burnett. You stupid, stupid coward.", she managed to say, before her voice broke off. Her whole body started shaking and she clung to herself, to keep her insides from falling apart. A sob escaped her lips and more tears fell down her face. Now she did feel sick.

@Opeila SeilunThis wasn't something new to Gem, watching people break down right in front of him. Almost everyone in his family had done it, sometimes it was angry, sometimes it was sad, or just confused. No matter the instance, though, it depressed the hell out of him. Because she'd rejected his hug, he looked down at the robe she'd dropped, sort of keeping his eyes stuck there like he was the one in trouble, avoiding eye contact and such. This wasn't supposed to happen, he was supposed to enjoy the outdoors and read, not... this. Whatever this was.
"Well... ehm," He exhaled softly, scratching the back of his head. "We should- uh," He swallowed thickly, chewing the inside of his cheek again - he swore it was going to have the texture of ground meat by the end of the day if he kept that up. "You. Should go back to yer... dorm, and... cry it out. I-" He looked around, patting her on the shoulder. Right after that, he picked up the robe she'd dropped and slowly began to walk away, mumbling something about how he wished her the best. Maybe that wasn't the thing he was supposed to do, but he knew better than to force his comfort upon someone else.gem stuart has left the thread.
