Heraldry House Crests

Hi everyone, a few people have asked me if I can make them a crest for their pureblood families and I have a lot of fun making them so I figured I might as well make them open to anyone that wants one.

If you're looking for a family crest for your pureblood or noble-birth muggleborn family, you're in the right place!

These are just a few examples of the types of crests I can do, however as you will see below I can cover a variety of styles and if you would like to make a more specific request for a crest, feel free to drop me an owl or a discord message! My username on there is Sirenito

Colour-block Crest
5 sickles / 145 potato peels for first years

As you can see in the picture on the left, you will recieve a standard crest in your choice of colour, shape, and pattern (Oftentimes crests will only have two colours on the shield itself, but if you would like a more complex pattern I won't charge you extra) along with a banner for your house name and a banner for your house motto. Finally, this crest will include an illustration on the center of the crest.

House motto's are often in latin, however any language is fine. Illustrations may be of whatever you choose, but are often of either an animal that the house is represented by or with an ornate letter of the house's initial.
Textured Crest
1 Galleon / 493 potato peels for first years

Pictured on the right, you will notice that these crests contain more detail than the standard colour block crest. These designs are styled to be more similar to the crests of the famous pureblood houses like the Black's or the Malfoy's in the franchise.

These crests contain all the same features of the colourblock text, but with additional textures on the crest and on the banners, as well as as many illustrated motifs as you would like. Like the main illustration in the center, these can be of whatever you like.

Clan Badge
3 sickles / 87 potato peels for 1st years

Scottish clan badges are slightly different from standard heraldry crests as you can see from the picture on the left. Their house motto is normally displayed around the edge of the badge and there is traditionally only one illustration on the center of the badge.

These badges are always the same in shape (Circular) but they may also come in your choice of colours. This option also includes your choice of illustration in the center of the badge.
FAQ's


I don't have a family motto, can you come up with one for me?

Yup! You don't have to have a family motto, but if you would like one and can't think of one I can make one up for you. I will need some information about your character's family background in order to come up with an appropriate one, but I can make up a phrase in a fair few languages!

Can I include multiple illustrations on the crest?

For the center of the crest, I would recommend only using one or two illustrations, as any more can look a little messy, but on the textured crest option you can include any number of illustrations on the outside of the crest- the more the better in fact!

Does the house name have to be at the top and the motto have to be at the bottom?

Nope! The banners can be placed wherever you like on the crest, and if you're unhappy with how the banners look I have plenty of styles for you to try out until we find you the perfect one.

Can I owl you with any more questions I might have?

Crest choice: Textured Crest
Colour scheme, shape and pattern: the gold/olive green of the mornstern example, but in something with a fancier edging like the dupont crest?
House name: Loope
House motto: Sic Semper Tyrannis (thus always to tyrants)
Central illustration: A knight. Medieval-style lineart, like Image posted by the member or Image posted by the member this vibe (maybe one of these images, if possible?)
Other details (Optional): Other possible motifs could be clouds (storming? lightning?) or a sword going through a crown? but if that's too hard to fernangle it's totally fine! And I trust your artistic discretion if you want to leave out something or add additional details to tie it together. Feel free to owl or ping me on discord if you would like any more clarifications!

Colour scheme, shape and pattern: Something pretty like the Dupont one, but simply and elegant - the wilde one is actually my favorite, would like something similar if possible

House motto: Something strict, showing maybe something about pureness, intelligence , driven and hardwork or strength. Can you owl me some options? I can pay extra.
Central illustration: I was thinking of a snake, but if you can find a really nice one it'll be great. Willing to pay 2 galleons for the whole order.

Character Name: Nerissa Astor
Crest choice: Textured Crest
Colour scheme, shape and pattern: I really like the Dupont one and the Loops one, so can you make it more like that? For colors, any simple blue (as long as it's not turquoise) is fine, paired with a silver or a bronze.
House name: Astor
House motto: A Latin motto (made up, or otherwise) that doesn't directly mention blood purity. However, it would be best if it spoke of the strength of the house, or something related to serpents. I found one that goes like: "utere serpente, sed numquam crede," but I'm not sure if I like it that much.
Central illustration: a snake wrapped around a dagger. Here are some photos to give you the general idea (I like the first two the best):

Character Name: Anna Blackberry
Crest choice: Textured Crest
Colour scheme, shape and pattern: Use purple, or gold, or silver, or a light shade of blue. Honestly, idk what it's supposed to look like, so surprise me!
House name: Blackberry
House motto: idk man, something to do with excellence or that nothing but the absolute best will be accepted.
Central illustration: :sweatingbullets:
Other details (Optional): The Blackberry family is fiercely protective and loyal to their own, but the expectations for all the family members are high, as the family accepts nothing less than excellence, whether it's through talent or hard work, such that excellence is the main philosophy of the family. Can you do a crest for the Blackberry Family that kinda mirrors that?
