Evening of Aug. 22nd, 2025 | London Quidditch Stadium

The commencement of Summer Camp had been devoted to Geneviève's side, exploring the Quidditch stadium and all it offered, and not a second wasted—but things had become shaky between them.

Deep within the recesses of his mind, however, the Toussaint boy’s mind was elsewhere as the duo walked with their fingers intertwined. A natural smile found his lips, as it always did when around the Beaubaxtons' girl, yet the boy's thoughts were in a state of disarray of anxiety. Sure, Alphonse was truly enjoying himself and the heartfelt conversations shared between them, and yet even he could sense there was still something else there. A rift. Apprehension coursed wildly through his bloodstream; bursting emotions that Alphonse couldn't quite yet place among the muck.

Most occasions, the boy was always so confident and sure of himself, but the same couldn't be said for this moment in time or the night before . He hated it; he loved it.

Each time their gazes met or Geneviève flashed a smile of hers, Alphonse swore his heart pounded against his chest like a war drum. The bright neon lights emanating from the various amusement park rides splashed across her features as they traversed through the evening air. Those cobalt-hued eyes of hers reflected the colors, shifting her irises to akin to little faraway galaxies. It took a few moments before Alphonse realized his chest was constricting from holding his breath.

Slowing his stride to a mere halt, sidestepping to avoid the busy pathways where fellow students travelled excitedly from one ride to the next, the boy glanced downwards at her and offered an apologetic smile. For a moment, Alphonse was dumbstruck by just how beautiful Geneviève was and forgot his train of thought and the residual tension from yesterday. Gods, the Toussaint boy didn't know why he was so nervous— get a damn grip.

"Sorry, I think the crowds are getting to me," Alphonse lied with a sheepish smile, "I got my Silver Arrow, though, if you wanted to see everything from above. Or I can meet you back at the tent, completely up to you."

Alphonse was acting strange ever since they had first met back up after the time apart (from when her brothers had given him a scare for his life.) It was disheartening to hear and see him lie to her face about the way he was feeling when ever she started to pester him if everything was okay. He would merely smile, brush it off, and occasionally squeeze her hand or give her head a gentle pat. While she appreciated the reassurance, it wasn't reassuring in the slightest and she knew that the Toussaint boy was hiding something.

Eventually, the lie of all lies slipped through his teeth and he offered her the choice of either a flight among the air or a walk back to the tent. Selfishly, Genie wasn't ready for the night to end. Ever since their less than impromptu departure at the Spring Ball, followed by the beating from her brothers, and their deep conversation about her fears and anxiety between them last night, she wasn't one hundered percent confident that Alphonse wasn't growing bored with her.

She turned her head away from him just slightly as she hiccuped. Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as she accepted his offer for a nighttime flight above the carnival. IF she wasn't going to move forward with the boy then the world could grant her one last enjoyable evening with him right?

The two of them walked in silence as Geneviève's head swirled with confusion and catastrophic scenarios. Was it her fault? Or was it her brothers? Had she been too honest or not honest enough? Would lies have worked better when he approached her last night hearing her scream out his name in a desperate plea to not abandon her to the flames of the devil fire? The world was swimming and she swayed slightly as Alphonse kept their fingers intertwined, though she knew not if it was for kindness or want.

She felt Alphonse's arms stop her from falling into the muck of the dirt and soiling the silky skirt that she had opted for this evening. Geneviève nodded along as the taller boy mumbled something about a flight not being safe if she wasn't feeling stable enough to walk. She thinks that maybe she murmured an agreement but she was too unfocused.

When she finally regained the power of speech, she forced her eyes to focus on the sculpted features of her... her friend... and pushed the words out of her throat.

"Perhaps it is too late for a flight... we could- um..." her voice trailed off as a tear threatened to fall from her eyes once again. She couldn't look into his face and speak without the worry that at any moment, Alphonse would take her hands and tell her that they needed to go their separate ways.

It hurt deep in a crevice of her heart that she didn't think was fully formed just yet. It wasn't supposed to...

Behind his naturally boisterous persona was some social aptitude.

It didn't take much cognition for Alphonse to recognize the signs of her distress: the heartbreaking way the Beaubaxton girl avoided his gaze, her uncoordination, the cracks in her angelic voice. Alphonse couldn't help but heave a somber sigh as they walked through the amusement park; it wasn't one of anguish or disappointment with her, but self-doubt and self-contempt. A selfish part of him couldn't help but feel wounded that Geneviève tried to conceal it, especially given the deep conversation last night.

The young, now-former Wampus cub had often resorted to blaming himself for everything that occurred when it came to Geneviève. Could it be Mother Karma finally wreaking her havoc on the stubborn, egotistical boy and his poor choices of the past? Alphonse wasn't the type to be easily wounded, but perhaps now that he had gained an 'Achilles' heel,' this was her revenge.

The heartfelt talk of the night before was illuminating and left the Castelobruxo-expulsé with much to meditate on. At the very least, the Toussaint boy hoped he had righted his wrongs from the Spring Ball and coaxed away her fears. But a glance over at Geneviève tormented him to think otherwise, and thus gently guided her away from the amusement park. His touch was featherlight yet secure to prevent her from tripping again, and Alphonse sideeyed anyone who shot Geneviève a puzzled look for the sadness that radiated from her being.

As they returned to the campgrounds, Alphonse's mind was abuzz with different speculations behind her anxiety tonight. All of them were bottom-lined with him being a shitty human being and her running for the hills. With their still fingers intertwined, rather than turning towards their shared tent, a detour would lead the couple to his mother's tent instead. Surely one of their fellow campers retired for the evening, and the conversation that likely would follow between Alphonse and Geneviève was best left private.

He halted at the entrance and opened the door for her, waiting for her to go inside before entering himself; as Alphonse did so, his mind somersaulted in strategy to ease the rift.

Turning to her, Toussaint boy inquired, "Do you remember the first time we met? The garden party?"

His mind went back to the disaster that followed, and couldn't resist the small chuckle as he sat on the couch. "I still think about it often, trying to guess which Headmaster drugged me with that Amortentia," the Toussaint progeny spoke before pausing thoughtfully, "But.. I can't lie, those smells right before I drank it are still some of my most favorite fragrances."

Despite his words, there was an uneasiness stirring in him. Was this the end?

Thankfully, it seemed that Alphonse had the decency to bring her somewhere a little more secluded so that they may talk and sort out whatever it was that was so negatively impacting their day together. The kindness within his heart knew no bounds and she wante to hold onto his arm and rest her head against his shoulder as she reminded him of so. But was it kind on her part to do so? What if he was hurting as much as she was? Though she honestly doubted it... Oh what was she saying. She knew nothing and every twist and turn of their conversation seemed to confuse her more.

Geneviève sniffled and nodded as he mentioned their very first meeting in the Garden. How could she forget? It had been the loveliest of days. She'd even asked one of the professors at school to enchant the rose for her so that it would remain pure and precious forever. Just like she had hoped they would be. But the doubt ate away at her confidence the longer she thought about it. Was this a talk to remind her to think of the good times and not dwell on whatever it was he was going to tell her that was probably extremely negative and horrible and-

She forced herself to take a deep breath and beat the evil voice in her head away from her face. Alphonse had yet to say his piece and she was nothing if not gracious and considerate. He deserved to tell her whatever was on his mind, while she was obliged to listen to him. She recognized that this was his mother's tent and it was much darker than she had thought it would be.

Alphonse continued to speak and Geneviève hung onto every word that fell from his mouth as if he was retelling years of their story together and not simply a few months. Alphonse mentioned that shortly after their meeting, he had been drugged with Amortentia, which seemed rather shocking at the time, but now as it was retold to her it seemed all the more romantic. Geneviève smiled as she wiped a jeweled tear from her eye and let out a soft laugh.

"Of course I do... You still have my handkerchief I believe. You said such a sweet thing to me, I wrote it down so that I would never forget it... You said... 'I've never met anyone quite as radient as you, but when you smile I swear my world stops. Meeting you has been a breath of fresh air." Geneviève spoke as she rested a hand against her cheek and closed her eyes with a smile, thinking of the way he had said it so truly before he passed out. Ah- the feeling brought the flutterby's back.

"What did you smell? She asked timidly when she opened her eyes and looked at him with an earnest plea. She wanted to remember the day fondly and not as a tragedy despite it seeming so. The French flower desperately searched the eyes of the Haitian ocean as she tried to decipher whether he meant it or had only said it because of the potions side effects.

Her softspoken words brought some measure of comfort that she hadn't yet completely given up on the Toussaint boy after all.

A chuckle escaped Alphonse's lips as she recited his love-oozing spiel word for word, reminiscing upon the embarrassing and borderline traumatic experience that afternoon in Beaubaxtons. It would be a lie if Alphonse wasn't a tad touched that Geneviève made such efforts to remember it vividly. His hopes for improvement in their seemingly fragile friendship were steadily on the rise.

It had been an initially terrifying experience becoming a backseat passenger in his own body, induced by the Amortentia that marionette'd him like a sickening, love-struck puppet. It didn’t quite control the boy's mind during the potion’s hold over him, and Alphonse was left reeling during the embarrassing experience. While Geneviève, ever the kindhearted soul she was, didn't seem to be bothered by his potion-induced advances, the transpirings had absolutely irked him—so much so that the then-Wampus resorted to drowning the residual mortification in Firewhiskey with his bunkmates later that evening.

Humming in thought following her inquiry, Alphonse cocked his head to the side while attempting to recall what little the Toussaint boy remembered before passing out in Beaubaxton's Dining Hall.

"First, I smelled that lavender rose from the garden, then another floral scent that had an aquatic and citrusy scent. Then sugared strawberries and the smell of tea with a hint of vanilla—kinda reminded me of early mornings and breakfast on the weekends. Then…freshly laundered silk with a hint of a sweet powdery scent,” he mused, the memory having humoured him while casting a once-over his mother's semi-abandoned tent.

The remaining light in the space had begun to wane as the sun began to set beyond the walls of his mother’s tent. With the setting around the duo shifting darker than anticipated, Alphonse reached into his backpack for his blackthorn wand and pointed it up at the tent’s ceiling with a muttered: Stella Cascadia.”

A golden light emitted from his wand that then dispersed into a shower of shooting stars that played across the ceiling. His oak-brown eyes darted everywhere at once, attempting to take in the beauty of it all, and had nearly forgotten why it was they were here.

"About what I said at the tea party..." he began sheepishly, carefully choosing his words as if dancing across glass, “I didn’t know it at the time, how true those words would become.” Alphonse exhaled while pondering the weeks that led to their meeting: the expulsion, the grounding, his parents' elopement, the new school, and being forced to go to Beaubaxtons' event—untrusted to remain at Ilvermorny unsupervised by his then-Headmaster father.

“Or how much you'd begin to mean to me,” Alphonse added with a nervous breath, avoiding her gaze. “I was going through a rough time leaving Castelobruxo, mourning my friends, then adapting to a foreign country a couple months later. There was just so much happening. And there still is, but meeting you that day in the gardens really has been the only thing that’s ever felt right. Felt fated.”

Like a light at the end of a dark tunnel.

The beauty of the stars illuminated more than one thing in the tent. Of course it showed off the beauty of the stars that had spilled from Alphonse's wand, but it also highlighted the sweetness of his voice as he vocalized a slew of words that made her heart twist in admiration for him. All of his words seemed to wash away the doubts and insecurities that she had been suffering from as they were marked by the stars in both their eyes.

Alphonse wasn't looking at her as he spoke, but she could hear the sincerity in his words as he continued to speak. The more he spoke however, the heavy feeling of guilt began to pool in her gut again as she thought about how needy and cruel she had come across as when all Alphonse had been trying to do was adjust and acclimate to the aggressively moving changes around him.

He spoke of the moment where he had been poisoned with a love potion. One that forced the user to confront the scent of the person whom they cared for or loved the most. Telling her what he had smelled in terms of how she appeared to him in his mind made her face dust itself with a shade of petal pink that she couldn't hide under the golden illumination of the stars.

Her eyes roved over the man made creation that Alphonse had conjured for the two of them to watch and she stepped closer to him, her hands wrapping around his forearms so that she could still be within his arms reach. In case she was allowed to hug him.

Could she truly have been so obsessed with herself that she had forgotten to be kind and forgotten to be supportive to her friend?

It seemed to be this way and the feeling of elatedness began to drop lightly as Alphonse continued to speak to her. Not because she wasn't excited that he felt these feelings towards her, but because it was finally sinking into her mind that their relationship did not revolve around her. But Alphonse spoke as though her invasiveness in his life had been something that he needed, as though she was a calm port in his storm.

Which made her heart both hurt and swell with affection.

"Alphonse... I am so truly sorry that I have been such a- a miserable friend to you. You have been through so much. Events I have not experienced and likely will not. I have forgotten my place as a friend and came across as far too clingy." She spoke with as much emphasis in English as she could muster. Her French accent was still heavy but it added to the dramatic flair of the moment.

Genie's mind was racing but she hoped that her sincerity outweighed any of the whininess and the complaints that she had given him the night before due to her nightmares. He was far too forgiving to her. Especially after her brothers had beat him up for no good reason.

But under the stars, his mind shown through by the pattern of his voice. His features illuminated in a warm honey colored glow- mesmerizing her in ways she had never felt in such extremes.

His skyrocketed heartbeat drummed violently against his chest at the subtle touch of Geneviève's hands gingerly wrapping around his forearm, and Alphonse couldn't help but release a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding within him.

A small smile of relief washed over his formerly nervous features upon the realization of the position of her hands as she spoke, her gentle caress giving way to her fingers slowly digging and tightening into the fabric of his shirt as if Alphonse was a lifeline—as if she wanted him as much as the Haitian boy wanted her. Finally mustering the courage to glance in Geneviève's direction, his breath was quickly stolen from him once more.

The starlight played across her features so elegantly; her cobalt blue eyes absorbed the shooting stars and transformed her gaze into galaxies that Alphonse could get lost within if he wasn't careful. That was the thing, though—he didn't want to be careful, not anymore. His arm twitched in her grasp to slowly pull away—not to create distance, but lessen it. His hand carefully but swiftly snaked under her buttermilk-colored waves before Geneviève could misinterpret his intentions, and settled around the back of her neck to gently pull the French girl into a proper hug.

Unrealizing, the distance between them shrank with each heartbeat as Alphonse unrealizingly deepened the hug despite the awkward height difference between them. Brushing the side of her hair away from her ear with the lightest of his touches, the Toussaint boy heeded her words with quiet understanding, only offering a simple nod when appropriate to demonstrate he was engaged. But it was a lie. An act. Only half of the girl's words actually registered within the gnarled and distracted cerebral cortex following the very second his oak-brown gaze dropped to her lips.

"I suppose that's a good thing, then," he finally replied after collecting the willpower to form a singular thought, yet couldn't help the subtle amusement layered within his softspoken tone, "I don't want to want to be just friends, Geneviève."

Suddenly, the air between them felt thick with possibility as he leaned down slightly so that their foreheads were touching. Just a small movement, that's all it would take. It was far from the first kiss the boy experienced between his time at Castelobruxo and interschool events, but there was something stirring inside the Toussaint boy's stomach that triggered a pang of newfangled nervousness at the very prospect of crossing that line with Geneviève in particular. One small step forward, one slight tilt of his head—one inch away from being more than just friends.

But, was that what Geneviève wanted too? Or had the boy been completely misinterpreting their friendship over the last seven months?

With a shaky exhale to silence the nervousness, Alphonse grazed her cheek with a featherlight caress before gently tilting her head up from the underside of her chin to look up at him. A sheepish grin stretched across his lips as the former-Wampus' gaze studied her stunning eyes that reflected the beautiful, man-made starlight above them in silent admiration. As the couple embraced underneath the shooting stars that swept across the ceiling of the tent, he gave pause from acting too hastily to admire the beauty of the moment as well as ensure that the Haitian teen wasn't breaching any boundaries Geneviève established. But he saw nothing there in Geneviève's gaze—nothing that would deter the boy from what he intended to do next.

Closing his eyes, Alphonse finally closed the remaining distance between them with a slow lean of his body, his lips brushing against her lips. The kiss was a perfect thing—smooth and easy—but the boy would be the first to pull away to ensure Geneviève was still comfortable with what transpired between them. But one kiss wouldn't be enough for the greedy Alphonse; the Toussaint boy needed just one more, and waited little time before rational thought or any hesitation could take root in the dark recesses of his mind that could stop him.

He kissed her one more time.

It seemed as though the breath had been stolen from her as the lips of the sweetest boy in front of her had captured her own in one fell swoop. She had let out a soft gasp simply from shock but felt herself reciprocating the movement as she held fast to his arms, her delicate fingers gently pressing into the exposed skin that they rested on as if to say Wow

For as far back as she could remember she had imagined something similar to what was occurring currently. The first kiss was a pivotal step in a relationship. It could be the difference between staying friends, progressing into a relationship in general, or even the removal of themselves from the others' lives. How she wished it was the second option. Her first kiss dreams had always been under the stars. It was as if Alphonse had looked into her deepest wishes and acted upon them to woo her.

And woo her it did.

When their lips finally separated, Genie felt herself remaining close to the Haitian honey in front of her. She wanted nothing more than to stay in his arms for good. It wasn't often that such an experience happened to someone and it was important that it was a fond memory to think of. With Alphonse- everything was memorable. The way he held her hands, the movement of his mouth and the sound of his voice whenever he said her name. His smooth disposition and his prowess in how he chose to care for her.

The way her heart felt when it was near his...

All of this was ingrained deeply in her mind, a memory that would not fade nor would it be easily replaced by another. A first kiss was just that- irreplicable.

When they two were able to formulate more than a fraction of a thought, Geneviève felt her facial features soften farther than normal as both her hands left his body for only a moment. The pearly color of her hands cupped the features of his face in a delicate hold. Her thumbs ran across his cheeks as if to memorialize the moment in a separate physical sensation besides the one engraved on her lips.

"Oh Alphonse..." She started with as her eyes sung a tune of feeling and emotional warmth towards his own. Looking between them, their eye colors joined together in a perfectly combined construction of a stormy beach. Perfectly in sync and volatile in feeling. There wasn't anything that she wouldn't do for this boy in front of her. She knew that to be quite true now. How precious it was to finally understand what it was that her mother had told her all those years ago, and feel the weight of it collide with the weight of the person in front of her.

The silence carried on, but it wasn't quiet to her. She knew that kiss had been more than enough to say what it was that she truly felt for him. Geneviève hoped that without saying much that Alphonse could feel the emotion and deep truth behind the look in her eyes. It couldn't be clearer to her, but she was sure that it translated well to him.

They had most certainly crossed the line and boundary between friends. There wasn't any possibility of them turning back without hurting either one of them or both. But Alphonse had told her that they needed to cross the line- that he wanted her to cross that line with him.

And good god, how she would.

"I want to be more than friends too. I haven't been able to imagine a day without you since we met. I feel so deeply, a potentially deep feeling between us. Geneviève mused as she moved her hands away from his face and wrapped her delicate arms around his torso bringing them both into each other. The closeness felt right, as though they were meant to hug, meant to kiss, meant to just be together. Two stars that had found each other once again after billions of years of separation.
