Travelling anywhere with the Xiang's was nightmare inducing, turning such a minuscule and trivial matter such as informing her parents she would be out for the day, exploring Seoul with Cirrus, had warranted an argument amidst the warmth alluded summer morning as the family sat for breakfast in her only aunt's home on the outskirts of the city. Meiyu had quickly grown to drown out the voices of her pessimistic mother, urging her father to stand ground and show some form of alliance — though, to no avail. They had arrived in Seoul, South Korea, merely a few days ago. It served as a well needed escape for all that had transpired over the course of seven months, though, surrounding herself by her mischievous younger brothers had quickly grown to irritate the young girl.
Fortunately, her only aunt, Wenqing, had suggested a day prior to explore the city, arguing that it would do her good to get away and that the rest of the family will be there when she returns. So, Meiyu devised a what she believed to be a spectacular plan — she had told her mother during breakfast that she would meet Cirrus Nam, a fellow Korean who would be in Seoul momentarily over the summer. Unbeknownst to her mother, Meiyu was not close to Cirrus nor did she care for what his summer plans were. The masquerade that took place on New Years had at the very least, presented her mother with some hope that her only daughter for once, had friends; thus Cirrus became the perfect scapegoat for another escapade she had planned.
As the argument quickly dwindled down, Meiyu briskly finished her light breakfast consisting of a selection of seasonal fruits and rushed out of the kitchen to ready herself for the day. Once she had ensured she was equipped with enough muggle money, her gaze shifted to her wand she left discarded on her makeshift bed for the duration they'd reside with her aunt; Meiyu's father had promptly reminded her earlier that the use of underage magic was forbidden and given the likelihood she'd find herself in a situation where her hands suddenly became insufficient weapons, she quickly deduced that there was no need to bring her wand with her on the excursion. Swiftly turning on her heel, Meiyu moved to glare at herself in a mirror, growing to not recognise the reflection despite her forced respite. In the odd chance she would run into someone from her past, she grabbed a white hat and placed it on her head, having already braided her hair for the day.
A perfect disguise.
Bidding farewell to anyone who could hear, she hurriedly departed the home, cautiously trotting down the stone stairs and briskly walking anywhere as long as it would steer her away from her family. With summer fast approaching, the light breeze in the air provided Meiyu with a much needed form of escapism, free from the terrors within the horrid institution she was forced to attend, the lack of friends she had made and overall the repercussions of all that had once transpired that fateful winter evening. The streets had yet to bustle with people given the early hour, though, there were still a few people beginning their day. As Meiyu continued to stroll through the streets, she approached a bus stop occupied with a few people and the bus quickly approaching forcing Meiyu to quicken her pace. In a rush, she harshly bumped into a boy merely a few centimetres taller than she was. Rolling her eyes at the lack of spatial awareness by the latter, Meiyu turned and immediately was met with a familiar face, the very person she had used as an excuse for her master plan.
"Cirrus?" She blankly called out.
"What are you doing here in Seoul?" Meiyu emphasised, partially shocked at the latter's sudden appearance and unbeknownst to him, bringing her plan to fruition.

X | CIRRUS NAM! HOGWARTS | SECOND | HUFFLEPUFF OUTFIT: red tank, skater jeans, and converse SONG: Bonsai by Alan Sutton HEX: English Korean 14th JULY, 2025 WORDCOUNT: 887 |
"Aweeeeeeeeeee," Cirrus couldn't hold back the sound before it escaped from his mouth. Before him sat a doll, a moving doll, a baby in-front of him laying in a plush stroller, her own mouth curled into the sweetest smile. It was the first time his little sister had looked at him without bursting into weeping tears and shrieks, but little did she know Cirrus was close to crying himself as his heart practically exploded in his chest, sheer joy and happiness coarsing through him at the acceptance she had shown to him. It was in that very moment where Cirrus vowed that nothing, NOTHING would come into harms way for his little baby sister. At the moment, he, his grandmother, and Chamomile were all on a small errand run, gathering small things and ingredients for the airbnb they were staying at. His grandparents were from Namhae of course, but that didn't mean they couldn't sight see elsewhere, they were even planning later that week to take a ferry down to Jeju island for the experience. The real reason behind their extremely busy itinerary was actually a bit more melancholy... As of last visit his grandfather had been officially diagnosed with Dementia, it was still in it's early stages but it was definitely known in some situations in previous matters. Since it was a very unpredictable disease the family had decided to spend this summer as much as they could doing things that the Grandfather had never been able to do before, to honor him. The trio made their way to the bus stop, Cirrus pushing the stroller gently as they arrived to stand in the small crowd of people lining up for the approaching bus. Chamomile became a bit fussy, grunting slightly before throwing her baby pink pacifier, without thinking and out of reflex Cirrus quickly jumped slightly to the side catching it in his hand, successfully. But of course is it really Cirrus if something awkward doesn't happen the second after victory? During his catch of the pacifier, he had leaned too much hitting his head against a stranger's elbow. "Sorry sir," Cirrus uttered, bowing quickly to the elder middle age man in apology. Before awkwardly turning away lowering his head in the shame of his own clumsiness, his ears and tinging a glowing red as he sucked in his lips, earning a small chuckle and shake of head from his grandmother. "What ever will I do with you Tae?" Grandma chortled, pinching his cheeks lovingly as she called him by his nickname based off his Korean given name Hotae. "Sorry Grandma," He uttered in guilt. The mousy haired boy then gently and quickly gave back the pacifier to Chamomile before she could scream out, instead sucking contently as she her eye lids became heavy. Much to both his and grandma's relief, that meant it should be a somewhat more peaceful ride and trip for errands. The bus was now quickly approaching their stop, he regained his composure and dignity before it was once against stripped from him as someone rammed into his side. "OUCH!" Cirrus yelled out animatedly, shooting out his hand to hold the place in which he was sure was going to leave a bruise. Instead of a face of annoyance he looked over with sense of somberness, why was it always him? Was he really just that unlucky? Hopefully none of his bad luck would rub off on Chamomile... The boy then looked into the face of a perpetrator, the face of someone he hadn't expected out of the millions there was. He recognized this one as Meiyu Xiang, it was unmistakable that this was the same girl who had returned his journal during their days in cheer squad together, and the same one who's family's new year party he had attended. "Hey meiyu! A coud say the same aboot ye," He spoke with that same friendly smile he always did, but confusion was obviously knitting through his eyebrows. "A'm here tae visit ma grandparents an sicht-seeing, hou aboot ye?" His grandmother then politely interjected also in her own sense of confusion, especially since she didn't speak English like the duo were so freely conversing in. "You two know each-other Hotae?" She said gesturing between the two of them with a quirked eyebrow. "Yes Grandma, I'm sorry, this is one of my friends from school : Meiyu Xiang," He said sweetly whilst properly introducing the girl adorned in a white baseball cap. "an meiyu this is ma grandmother an little sister." "It's lovely to meet you sweetie," Grandma says before gently taking her hands into hers, a large grin forming. "My, oh my, she's quite pretty. Isn't she Tae?" She then just shook a finger happily at Meiyu before gesturing for them all to come quickly onto the bus before it left them there, Cirrus gently got Chamomile up the steps after helping his grandmother up them by holding her hand to support her. Cirrus was about to sit down next to his grandmother when she quickly ushered him up. "Where are your manners? Ladies sit first," She said shooing him off as she gestured for Meiyu to sit next to her with the biggest smile. "Sorry," Cirrus said ashamed as he stood up holding onto the bus bars and the baby stroller. |

In her hurried state to find some form of serenity away from her family, Meiyu had failed to notice that Cirrus was accompanied by an elderly woman and a baby in a stroll. Despite their very brief encounters, he had never mentioned that his mother was expecting, though, Cirrus' demeanour was beyond aloof and akin to a newborn puppy — besides, the pair were not immensely close to one another. Manoeuvring to peer into the stroller, Meiyu's lips pursed in acknowledgement of the beautiful creature resting in the stroller. It reminded her of her vague memories of when her mother brought their youngest, Bomi, home. Meiyu had barely been four at the time, yet, the joyous memoirs were rekindled upon the sight of the baby in the stroller.
Diverting her gaze back to Cirrus who spoke with a thick and strong Scottish accent, almost inaudible, her lips curved into a slight smile to mimic his own. "I too am visiting family, but, they got too much to be around so I left out and oddly enough used you as my scapegoat." Meiyu hurriedly added, almost shocked by the irony of it all. Cirrus had always been kind to her the few times they interacted. His aloof demeanour had reminded her of her two brothers, finding some sick and twisted urge to protect him from the world. Perhaps the fact he was not akin to the trolls who free-roamed the castle aided his cause.
As she parted her lips to comment once more, an elderly woman had interjected their conversation, speaking Korean to the latter, almost bewildering Meiyu despite their current location. Her gaze quickly shifted to the woman, her own appearance reminding her of her own paternal grandmother, alluding immediate warmth unfathomable to the untrained eye. It quickly became clear where Cirrus' own behaviour stemmed from, likely raised from a loving family, unlike her own intruding mother and maternal grandmother who the mere thought of triggered a roaring migraine. Opting to stay silent to watch how it would play out, Meiyu nodded as Cirrus introduced her to his grandmother, before she could comprehend what was going on, the elderly woman took her hands into her own, causing Meiyu's eyes to widen in bewilderment.
With the elderly woman commenting on her looks, Meiyu graciously pulled her hands away and shook them, motioning disagreement with her comment, purely out of the etiquette she had learnt during her days in South Korea as a child. "Oh no, halmeoni, have you not seen how beautiful you are?" She swiftly commented, her vocal tone raising to a much sweeter tone than she normally spoke with as Meiyu switched to her native tongue, Korean. Despite her nativity in the langue, her face almost morphed into one of discomfort, having grown accustomed to speaking English, for the sake of not portraying herself as impolite, Meiyu forced a smile in return towards Cirrus' grandmother.
The group were soon ushered onto the bus that had arrived, the white and blue striped bus numbered '2 - SEOUL', promptly arrived despite her earlier rush to depart from the vicinity of her family. Turning on her heel, Meiyu moved to board the bus, fortunately not as compact as she had expected it to be, though still crowded. Her eyes gawked at those onboard, cautiously surveying each feature of every passenger, half-fearing one would attack her. Expression stoic and stilled, Meiyu continued to observed with a death glare until Cirrus' grandmother spoke up once more, ushering her to join her side, forcing the young girl to purse her lips together as she took a seat beside her grandmother, turning to glance at Cirrus who held on for his dear life.
Paying his grandmother no mind for the time being, the bus echoed the sound of the doors closing, signalling their departure from the stop and towards Seoul. "Is it your first time in Seoul?" she piqued blankly, diverting back to English for ease but also discomfort at speaking Korean with Cirrus of all people, "I presume it is given you're sight seeing. I can't believe you suddenly have a baby sister, I'm sure you're excited to torment her as she grows older." Meiyu added with a glint in her eyes, reminiscing the torment she had put her own brothers through when they were younger, though, naturally, she presumed he would wait for her to grow a couple of years before he began.
As she awaited his response, her eyes moved to behind him, watching the scenery whisk by them with speed as the bus driver drove as though racing down a highway, eager to get them to their destination. Only with a light breeze emitting from a few windows open did Meiyu finally exhale the breath she held from the moment she arrived in South Korea, the freedom she experienced whilst at that wretched castle was incomparable to present, even if it included Cirrus and his extended family.
NOTE This thread is now abandoned due to Cirrus' writer creating a new character. Subsequently, it will not be continued but still did serve fruitful to Meiyu's character development.
