About to meet @Nyx Blackheart

Healer Ketteridge had the day off and on days like this, Simon's internship looked very different than when Healer Ketteridge was in. His mentor let him see everything, do everything, experience everything - while others.......did not.

It was on days like today that Simon felt he had traveled back to his introduction into his internship there at the wizarding hospital: Internship 101.

Today's moment could be pulled right out of the Internship Handbook:
Shadowing and Support at St. Mungo's
Internships at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries offers aspirint healers an immersive introduction to the world of magical medicine. In this foundational program, interns are paired with experienced Healers and assigned to stay with patients during observation periods. Interns play a crucial support role - monitoring sympptoms, recording magical fluctuations, and providing comfort to patients navigating everything from spell damange to creature-induced ailments. This hands-on experience is designed to build empathy, sharpen clinical awareness, and give interns a front-row seat to the complexities of magical healthcare.
"Simon? Would you pop down to Ward 2A and spend a bit of time with a patient? I'd like you to just sit with them for awhile. No need to intervene, just observe and stay present," Healer Iona Norell asked of him. Simon had been reading one of the books on healing that he borrowed from the staff library. "Of course, Healer Norell," he smiled, closing his book.

He slipped the book into his satchel and brought it over his shoulder and headed to Ward 2A to meet his patient, or rather, the patient. Simon probably couldn't rightfully claim a patient as his until he officially became a healer.

When he got to the door of 2A, he knocked softly. "Hello, is it alright to come in?"

Yes, it was doing things by the handbook that day, including a pause before entering. There at St. Mungo's, it wasn't only for the patient's privacy but also because the healer needed to assess magical sensitivity of the space. "Hello, I'm Simon Kincaid, an intern here at St. Mungo's. I'll be observing with you today." He entered into the room. "Would it be alright if I sit with you for awhile?" he asked. Honestly, she was probably told that he had to observe her so whether she liked it or not, they were stuck together for awhile.

Meeting @ Simon Kincaid

I glared at the wall.
I still couldn't believe the indignity of the present situation. To be stuck in St. Mungo’s.
To be there because someone *cough cough Uncle Zeus cough* decided that I needed medical attention. Sure, I fainted twice and maybe I felt nausea, but that surely wasn’t enough to warrant a trip to this place.
Hospitals gave me the creeps. They were always too clean, too clinical.

And the nurses in my slightly panicked and paranoid mind, looked like they didn’t mind taking a sample out of ya while you were still sleeping.
My brain hushed up all these thoughts.
You’ve been reading way too many muggle science fiction novels, it said. I scowled. My uncle had left me in the supposedly 'capable hands' of a nurse there, saying that as soon as they gave me the A-Ok, I was free to Floo back home. I glared daggers at him, before stumbling woozily over to the bed, denying any help. I refused to be treated like an invalid.

I was then told that someone was going to come in to just watch me. I told the nurse to piss off.
She looked shocked. Maybe she shouldn't have called me 'sweetheart' in the first place.
Nicknames like those made me feel like a Chihuahua.
I waited, feeling my ire rise and fall like a wave.
Then, a young, male voice floated in, asking if they could come in. I didn't answer. I refused to speak. My father would probably pitch a fit if he found out, but I was breaking all the rules of etiquettes and polite society.

There was a pause before the guy stepped in. He was pretty tall, and muscular, which was a bit unusual.
He had dark hair, and bit of a tan. He was also a teenager. I believed that I had seen him around a few times in Hogwarts. I stared at him before narrowing my eyes and looked at him shrewdly.
He said a few things, mentioning that his name was Simon Kincaid, among other things. He asked if it was ok that he sat with me for a while. We both knew that I had no choice in the matter.

I glared at him before practically growling out my name. It would give me great satisfaction to see this teen squirm. "Blackheart. Nyx Blackheart. Call me what you like, but don't call me sweetheart. Makes me feel like a Chihuahua"
I crossed my arms and waited for whatever it was that he was going to say, or not. Either way, I didn't care

Attempting to offer assistance to @Nyx Blackheart

"No worries, I wouldn't call you that. My girlfriend wouldn't appreciate it much and honestly, one shouldn't have pet names for people they've just met. If I were to come up with one, you'd deserve better than a recycled one anyway," he smiled, attempting the slightest bit of humor or maybe the smile was to hide the fact that there was a pain in his chest at the mention of his girlfriend - who was no longer his girlfriend.

No matter. He was at his internship and would prioritize being professional. Tears and sadness for losing his relationship with AngelFyre at the beginning of summer could take priority at night when he was alone in his room and maybe that pain and suffering could somehow lead to a solution or a plan to deal with his hardships. But that was for another time.

It was quite obvious this girl didn't want a 'babysitter' so to speak and Simon couldn't blame her. She had been there already long enough and his very presence only suggested that she'd be there longer still - much longer.

"They want you under observation for awhile and suggest that you not eat or drink anything for a bit given your symptoms..... but is there anything else I can get you? Magazines? A word puzzle?" Some sanity is probably what she needed about now.

The door, which he hadn't shut fully, proceeded to slowly swing open due to the air movement in the corridors. Almost like it was welcoming them out of the room, as if it was challenging them. Simon wondered just how long the girl had been there already. It had unfortunately been a pretty busy day and therefore the wait time had been the longest he had seen yet during his internship.

Meeting @ Simon Kincaid

My glare lessened slightly when he said that about his girlfriend. Clearly that was a difficult subject for him so speak about if the hurt that raced briefly across his face was something to go off of.

I scowled again, my mood darkening. I was going to be here all day. The disgust was clear on my face. Anyone who had half a neuron could see it. Including this guy. I wasn’t angry at him, per se. Rather I was angry at the system. And at my uncle.

But that was implied. It was his fault that I was here in the first place. If he had simply trusted that I was perfectly fine and all I had to do was sleep it off, I could be doing something a thousand times more enjoyable than sitting here.

He said something about staying for a while and my scowl deepened. But when he mentioned food or drink, my face turned a pale shade of green and my stomach turned.

He asked me if he could get me anything. I shook my head. I didn’t feel like reading any mindless magazines, I wanted to draw. That was, if I could concentrate enough to actually draw what I had in mind. The door to my room slowly opened, but I didn’t pay attention to it. Rather, I spoke to Simon, looking at him in the eyes.

“Could you just hand me by bag? It’s right next to you.”
My trusty leather bag was right at the very edge of the chair, and unfortunately, it fell in that exact moment, spilling out its contents.

A black bag that contained all of my sketching supplies, which just mainly consisted of different graphite pencils, a box filled with markers, and my sketch books.
One of them flopped open, revealing a drawing I was working on.

It was of a girl with a face made up of the words “I hate you. You left me. I was never good enough for you. Why did you leave? Did you even love me?” Red tears flowing down her face in twin lines, with short cropped off hair and makeup, just like what I was wearing now. It was me. But a broken me.
I froze for a moment. I didn’t want this guy, a stranger to see the secrets my heart held.
I waited with bated breath to see how he would react to a rather macabre show of despair.

Helping to gather supplies for @Nyx Blackheart from the spilled bag

Simon was just turning toward the mentioned bag when it slipped from it's place and fell to the floor, scatting its contents onto the floor. At first he thought perhaps he had done it and was going to apologize but no, he hadn't so much as knocked it or even caused the air to shift in the room for it to fall. It was nothing short of pure gravity and odd coincidence.

The items on the floor indicated that she spent a good deal of time sketching. This wasn't the type of items that one would go online for and get the introductory package if they were just starting out but he could tell they were chosen based on prefrence - having tried and figured out exactly what type and brand of art materials that were liked best.

Simon began to lean down and gather up some of the materials that had fallen, some of the pencils that looked all the same but different shades. He wouldn't put them back in, as he never wanted to go through someone else's belongings, and as he grabbed the lightest one, the sketch that showed itself in the notebook caught his eye.

"So much raw emotion," he said to her - and done so well. This girl had more than just perfected what materials she used for her art but also had a good grasp on her art talent as well. Simon always wished he was a little more artistic than he was. While he didn't know how personal it could be to share your own art, he did know what it was like to share one's own song and he lifted the notebook and outstretched his hand to her for her to take.

Simon thought of his own struggles with his problemataic father who made threats and did horrible things to others. The intern wasn't exactlysure if he was caught up in it all or if there'd be a way to escape his father......the end of that summer would tell.

"Makes me think of inner struggle, captured the feeling of being trapped in someone else's chaos."
If it were her own chaos alone, the tears would just be tears - Simon gatherered. Perhaps he had read it all wrong, but that's what he got when placing his own situation into glimpsing at her art.
