Familiarizing Oneself with the Unfamiliar
At the mention of the Slytherin trophy, she pursed her lips, moving over to the duelling trophies. "No, I'm not a Quidditch player, really. I just... recognized a name on the trophy." Oh, did she ever recognize it. If the girl was familiar with the magical world, she might have recognized it too if she looked close enough. That was why Sola didn't point it out.
Sola had never really seen her father duel, but from meeting his colleagues, she knew he was a natural: to the point, not very flamboyant, specializing in hexes and jinxes that impeded movement and perception. Impedimenta, Tarantellegra, Flipendo, the Backfiring Jinx, Ebublio, the Jelly-Legs Jinx... She'd once been privy to an interesting retelling of a magnificent time her father had caught a woman who had been trying to enslave a family of muggles. It hadn't taken more than three spells before she was bound up on the floor in a laughing fit. Rictusempra was always a useful spell. No one could ever deny that.
Sola noticed the trophy she was pointing out. "Oh, wow," she said. "That's pretty cool. Second place is still really hard to get. Is he of any relation to you?" she asked.

"Cool! Who was it?" Asked Annabelle. "Actually, the Ravenclaw Quidditch applications are open. I've applied."
She smiled at the trophy. "Naw. My last name, Osborne, is O S B O R N E. His last name is Ozborne. O Z B O R N E. Spelled with a z, but mine is with an s. Maybe the family name could've changed? I doubt it though..." She trailed off.
Annabelle looked at the tiny watch on her wrist. "Well, I can't be here much longer, but I can stay for a few minutes more! After all, classes start tomorrow. I've gotta start studying." She smiled at Sola. "See you later, alligator? It's a muggle saying- I'm unsure if you know it."
Annabelle exited the trophy room. As she left, she called out, "I'd love to meet on the grounds at some point! I'll owl you the details if you like."

Annabelle flipped her shiny brown hair over her shoulder and headed back to the dorms. It was study time, it seemed. But who knew? Perhaps Sola would be in one of her classes.

Oh... oh, I'm sorry. I didn't even realize.
Sola pursed her lips at the question, though the girl, Annabelle, quickly changed the subject, saving her from having to answer.
But before she knew it, the girl was looking at her watch. Wait, why did she have a watch? Wizards usually only used pocketwatches. She'd never really asked why, but she had heard that most Muggle technology didn't work around magic. She had never really questioned it.
The girl offered to meet again on the grounds before hurrying off for class.
Sola nodded, calling after her as she ran off. "That would be nice," she said. Did she make a friend? She couldn't tell. She didn't really have any experience making friends as she was homeschooled most of her childhood. Her only friends had been other wizard children, because her parents were worried her unintentional underage magic might trigger around muggle children, which was a risk they could not afford to take.
As such, her childhood had been a rather lonely one. But now she had a friend... perhaps... if she was lucky. It would be nice to have a friend, even one in Ravenclaw. Someone to eat lunch with... if she was even allowed to eat lunch at other tables. She didn't know how well-received a Slytherin would be at the Ravenclaw table, but still. To have a friend... the thought was unfamiliar, but she wouldn't mind familiarizing herself with it.
