Elzabeth relaxed against the seat now, getting comfortable. A moment of comfortable silence passed between them but she could tell he was thinking about something.
"I...um. Sorry if it's too personal, wouldn't want to intrude after all, but are you... scared of anything ? With Hogwarts. "
She thought for a moment, nodding. "I'm scared of a lot of things." Elzabeth sighed. "I don't sleep very well, my mom would always sing to me when I was little but now that she's not here I guess I'll have to figure it out on my own." She never really talked about her insomnia with others, it was just another thing about here people could pick apart.

Since she was little she's always had trouble falling asleep. Her mother said it ran in the family, her grandma was the same way, but the only thing that helped her the most was her mom telling her stories or singing. Her mom was no professional singer but something about it just worked like magic.

"I think I'm just scared of change, it's going to be really different." Elzabeth looked at him, giving him a small smile. Change was freaky, she was growing up and a part of her wanted to stay little and free of responsibilities.

"What about you? Do you have any fears?" Elzabeth intertwined her hands and placed them on her lap, trying to gauge his reaction.

His eyes widened slightly. He'd ask the question, it was only normal for her to ask it back. She'd just opened up to him. William relaxed, gazing through the door of the compartment. Watching students, group of friends pass by. He knew he was scared he just didn't know how to explain it.

Scared of change, maybe that's how he should call it but it just wasn't exactly like that. Sure he was scared of spiders and big crowd. Only this time, it was something else. William was scared of not belonging. To arrive at Hogwarts and face that school maybe isn't for him. He sight, a small shudder trailing down his back. He shouldn't have brought the topic, but the past is in the past. "I'm pretty scared of spiders for one thing. I hope that I'll encounter none of those creepy crawlers at Hogwarts. " He let a smile grace his features and an amused huff past his lips.

"I never went to school though so I can't believe I'll be able to truly belong. Maybe I'm a little scared of just going to school. It's a bit silly. School shouldn't scare me, tons of children go to school everyday." He purposely looked away from Elzabeth after that. It was something he'd kept to himself, placing a facade so his parents would let him go to Hogwarts. " I'm also scared of other things. Tha...that's just the principal."

OOC: So sorry about the delay! Hope you aren't too upset with me :P
Elzabeth laughed at his spider comment, agreeing with him. She wasn't a big fan of the creepy crawlies, but as soon as he got to talking about the serious stuff she sobered up and listened intently.

She never wanted to make it seem as if someone's feelings weren't important, too many people had done that to her in her life. She nodded along to each of his points, understanding where he was coming from completely.

"It'd be a bit weird if someone weren't worried about stuff like that, not only is it a big chapter in our lives but its also a magic school full of unknown possibilities." Elzabeth didn't want to stress him out anymore than he already was. "Even though you haven't gone to school before you're bound to find your people. This is new for a lot of us, we'll figure it out." She shrugged.

Elzabeth hoped she helped, if only a little bit. Who knows where they would end up after today, whether they'll be friends or they'll be separated due to different houses or classes but where ever they ended up she wanted him to have some peace of mind.

"Let's talk about something a bit more uplifting yeah? What are you excited about?" Elzabeth wanted him to be happy, she wanted everyone to be happy. I guess that was her Hufflepuff side showing.

William couldn't help but stare. Maybe she was right. At least, none of them had went to a magic school before. Elzabeth just had a little more knowledge of both school and magic than him. As she went on, the young boy saw himself not too far in the future. In a grand entrance, with confidence and maybe a friend by his side. Even further through time, he wished himself successful successful, belonging, going against his own apprehension.

A question tore through his musings. He nodded glad to be able to close something unsuited for first conversation.

"I'm certainly excited about the wizarding world. There's nothing like learning every little twist and turn about a society in my books." He'd already learn so much since the beginning of the train ride, but he only wished for more. "For the school itself, I don't know. Courses will help achieve a lot of my goals. " A small part of him also yearned to be stupid, do something stupid. To have stories to tell like his nanny. That part was pushed far, farther down than any 11 years old should be. Hogwarts might just be what he needs to let loose a little.

As soon as those thoughts arose, William reddened a bit. Wishing those things were childish so he brushed them away. "How about you, excited about something?

Elzabeth nodded along to his answer, smiling the whole time. It was way better to focus on the good things than dwell on the bad.

When he asked her the question back she didn't really have to think very long. "I'm excited about a lot of things, mostly I'm excited about learning all of the new magic but I guess I'm also excited to see Hogwarts itself. I've never seen a castle before, especially not one as big as my father told me about."

Elzabeth reads about castles in her books and she has seen some of the ruins of the ones in Scotland from school textbooks but never has she seen something so special so close.

"My father said its the most magical place anyone could be, he said there are very few places in the world that could make you feel the way Hogwarts makes you." Her father often said he missed the castle, the last time he had been there was when he graduated so Elzabeth was tasked with telling him all the details once she went home for Christmas break.

"I don't want to get lost though, I've been told that happens often to first years." Elzabeths smile slipped a little as she thought about having to wander around empty halls of an enchanted castle but she very quickly got rid of her worry.

To say he was excited would be an understatement. He couldn't quite believe Hogwarts could be even more magical than what he'd seen. If she said the truth, than he was all with her. He'd visited castles, abandoned one too, but no magical castle.

Altough, she was right, castles were a handful of twisted hallways and secret passage. The one time he went to a castle, or maybe simply a pretty big manor, he got completely lost. When he finally found his way, he swear to never let himself wander around aimlessly without tracking his step.

"Well, if you don't want to get lost, just make sure you know the way. I am sure higher grades can help first years, don't you think?" He added. " It would be dumb to ask eleven years old to know their way around the castle on their first day. Castles are pretty confusing after all." He let out a half laugh, half huff after that.

He let his gaze turn to the Scottish hills lazily passing by. Up, then down, and again. He thought about Elzabeth and their little small talk. Was that what being friend was? He hoped so. He was comfortable with her. Maybe not as much as with his nanny, but definitely at ease. " Just a question, are we friends? Or, no! Can we be friends? "

Willams's question brought a smile to Elzabeths face. It was clear this boy had lived a life with few friends. A part of her was sad for the boy, and another understood.

"Of course we're friends! Trust me, I wouldn't have voluntarily chosen to sit next to someone on a very long train ride if they weren't my friend." She smiled, hoping to ease his worries.

"I know we haven't known each other for very long but I hope you consider me a friend too, especially when we're both heading into this with very little knowledge." Elzabeth drummed her fingers on the armrest. It would be nice to have someone when going into such a big and frightening change.

She didn't have any friends when she first started muggle school and never really had one after, although she knew the basics of friendship she was still new when it came to actually having someone to experience it with.

"I didn't really have friends back home, so I'm not too sure what defines friendship but I figured since I already know so much about you and you know so much about me, that's gotta mean something." Elzabeth shrugged, hopping her confession didn't come off as childish as it sounded to her. It was one of those sentences she wished she could've taken back but alas this is real life and not some paper she could just erase the words from.

When she answered, William felt himself relax and sag a bit in his seat. His first friend. The thought kind of made him giddy inside but he quickly brushed it up. He'd had friends, just not his age, nor by his or their own... choice. A real friend then. If choosing to sit with him was her criteria, then it be his to. For her.

The smile that grace her face made him give one in return. His worries were now eased. It hadn't been that bad, no, not at all. She made him feel like he belonged. They both were entering something new after all.

The drumming of her fingers filled the silence of the compartment. William found himself following her rythm quietly with his foot before she picked up again.

They really were in the samend situation after all. Or, almost. He'd just never been to school, and he hadn't had many chances to make friends ( or any motivation sometimes).

The rest of her little speech made him smile. It did mean something to him. "Of course it means something. Knowledge is power, don't you know? We both know to much about each other to be anything but allies or... friends?" The last part was hesitant, too foreign to him. He quickly made up for his hesitation, " Yeah, friends!"

He added out of the blue, "So... Elzabeth, do you speak any other language?"

Elzabeth thought about his question, smiling when she realized she did know a little bit of BSL.

"My grandmother was deaf so I learned a bit of Sign Language, I'm definitely not fluent by any means but I can get around a conversation." Elzabeth shrugged.

Any time she went over to her Grandmothers she would either have to sign to her or use a paper and pen. Her grandmother had lost her hearing when she was in her fifties so it was a bit of a struggle for her family to learn it, but Elzabeth picked it up a little bit better since she was younger.

"What about you? Any fancy language like Pig Latin up your sleeve?" Elzabeth joked.

Some of the boys in her grade used the made-up language to look smarter but once she found out the language was fake and quite simple to decode, she would speak right back to them. It didn't earn her any popularity points that's for sure but it was funny to see the boy's faces once they realized she figured them out.

Now if someone asked her to do it she wouldn't be able to, unfortunately, it was a skill her parents found annoying so she stopped.

OOC: I'M so sorry for the delay, I had some crazy weeks. Sorry!
When she announced she knew a bit of BSL, William was quite impressed. No one near him knew enough to hold up a conversation. Maybe she would be able to teach him one day. He would gladly take lessons.

"What about you? Any fancy language like Pig Latin up your sleeve?"

He reeled back at her question. Confusion dancing across his eyes. What was Pig Latin? A new language he hadn't heard of? A secret code eleven years old should know? Fisting his hands through his cuff he asked gently," What is Pig Latin? Is it something I should know?" Without waiting for an answer, he shot back smugly, retrieving the half smile that adorned his face normally, " Although I do speak French. Maybe I lost some of it, but it's actually my first language."

He could see flashes of his first few years in France. His parents were taking a small pause from their business so they could spend some time with their son, him. Pictures of a small flat with fancy furniture that they had left there flashed before his eyes.

" I still speak it sometimes, but it usually slips back when I'm annoyed by something or someone. My brain just reverts back to what it first knew in those moments. "William added, "Do you think you could teach me BSL?"
