Quinn had really messed up today, like really messed up. He didn't eat nearly enough the night before so he went to bed hungry and woke up starving. But he was a good boy so instead of doing the sensible thing and eating first thing or his secret stash of snacks. He went about starting his day with meditation, reading, and studying. So now as the very tall Hufflepuff traveled to the Great hall one could practically hear his stomach roar in displeasure. It had a right to be displeased this was unusual for quinn. He almost always ate enough, never made it a habit to miss a meal, and usually ate on time.

So this was unusual however he could not focus on that be could see the doors to the great hall. Furthermore he almost immediately picked up on a familiar sight. Seconds later he recognized the person who was about to...oh no. Quickly Quinn increased the length of their stride closing the distance in a surprising amount of time. Just in time as she fell. Bending down he extended his arm spreading his large hand wide open. Catching her and then gently pushing her up right. Most likely it would have felt like her back hit a brick wall. Despite his size he could be delicate when necessary. "Oi ye shaeld be maer careful. Long time nae see." He flashed a quick wide tooth grin. Pushing the door to the great hall open with ease.

Sleeping rather comfortably somewhat splayed out on his left shoulder was a gorgeous silver cat, with strange black, and long patterned markings going across her entire body. She had a slender frame and even though she was currently asleep she seemed to radiate a regal presence. However once Quinn caught Gris and opened the door she was awakened revealing two beautifully different colored eyes. One was gooseberry green and the other was a beautiful gold. Raising her head, Irene's feline eyes would stare down at not just Gris but anywho came close. Her demeanor and presence was more like a queen curiously looking at her subjects with invested amusement. Her tail rather casually swung back and forth against Quinn's back and she yawned continuing to stare.

To fear the unknown is to fear progress, don't shy away from it. Embrace it and discover something new.

Waffles and pancakes. It was the only right way to start out this morning- or any morning really. And whether you are a waffle lover, or a pancake lover; both food never fail to bring a smile to the face of their consumer. Xailah was a waffle lover, and while she did not mind pancakes, there was just something that made waffles far more enticing. Perhaps it was the waffles ability to have a crunchy outside, and still somehow maintain a crunchy inside. Or maybe it was the little square craters that made the waffle so desirable. Yes, maybe it was the craters; the main identifier for waffles.

Only the waffle could contain heart stopping, artery clogging, lumps of butter on its surface without slippage. Xailah had been sitting at the far end of the Gryffindor table, the end closest to the door. So, she had a nice view of one her fellow Gryffindor prefects attacking the door with their face. Unfortunatley Xailah was too busy cutting part of her waffle into bite-sized pieces, for her cat Schrödinger; therefore there was virtually no time for her to physically react to the falling Gryffindor- not that she would have gone to catch the girl or anything.

Yes, she was quite fine observing the slow-motion falling, from afar. Luckily, a conveniently placed half-giant, was there to stop the fall of the younger Gryffindor. Xailah would gloss over the duo with curious golden eyes; her dark brown locks temporarily halted their usual writhing. Her slitted pupils pulsated for a mere second, growing and shrinking; contemplating if she should go talk to her fellow prefects.

Setting her fork down, and picking up her gluttonous gray cat- whose mouth was currently covered in sticky maple syrup; the Metamorph would make her way over to the two other prefects. Her yellow eyes narrowed into two crescent moons, in a desperate attempt to remember the names of the prefects. The girl was...Grease? Grouse? Gris- Gris, that was it. Xailah failed to remember the name of the Hufflepuff prefect. "That door got you good, didn't it?" A playful smile tugged at the corners of her pale mouth.

"You alright?" She asked the other Gryffindor prefect. Her eyes would flicker to the Half-Giant, prefect. She wasn't quite sure what to think of Half-Giants, after the ballroom incident. But they did put her on edge, if she was being honest. Both her, and the orange eyes of her cat, would look up at the boy, pupils dancing. She would greet him with a curious; "Hallo." And then give him a small wave, with a gloved hand.

Koko had always been a morning person. When she had been in primary school, she would wake up hours before her alarm clock and just lay in bed with her eyes wide open, already planning out her day. She enjoyed having organisation in her life. It made her feel good in general, and she always found that she couldn't find anything whenever she lacked organisation.

After pulling on her school uniform and tying her hair back with the Slytherin-green scrunchie she wore so much these days, Koko yanked on some Doc Martens. Outdated? No. Certainly not. Doc Martens were a classic, and if people could not appreciate that... Koko didn't know what to do with them. Koko had then sought out her friend Ruby, and the two of them had begun making their way to the Great Hall with their cats, Apollo and Jax. Koko had picked up her blue kitten and cuddled Jax to her chest, a detached smile on her face as she and Ruby carried on an ample conversation about the weather. While most people thought talking about the weather was weird, Koko found it completely logical.

Upon entering the Great Hall, Koko saw a few of her fellow prefects that she hadn't known too well - in fact, she and Ruby would need to walk by them to get to the Slytherin Table... If they were even going to sit there. The only thing that Koko didn't care about organisation with was food. She inhaled the substance no matter what. In a horror movie, if food was poisoned and out on the set, Koko was likely to be the first to die.

Koko's walking grew slower, and Jax rested his head against her shoulder as she slowly strode up to the one prefect that she recognised. "Hello." Koko simpered. Breaking out of her shell was terribly difficult, but she had met this girl before - actually, two of them! The other Gryffindor prefect was someone she had met once... But this one, she seemed more likely to remember Koko, even if not by name. Koko wouldn't blame her, anyway. She didn't remember the brunette's name. "I'm Koko, if you didn't know. What... What might you be up to?" The blonde-haired girl shot a glance over her shoulder at Ruby and shrugged slightly before shifting her gaze back to the girl in front of her - who had just fallen, caught by the tall yellow boy. "Are you all right?"

Ruby woke up early, dressed, and then began writing in her notebook. She continued doing that until Koko came to seek her out. With a smile, they departed from the Slytherin areas to go get breakfast. Sitting in the Great Hall was always a good opportunity to take a break from life, to talk to someone new, or to see people that one might not have seen otherwise. She was hungry, too.

As she walked with Koko, they chatted, with Koko carrying Jax and Apollo curiously trotting alongside them. Ruby trusted Apollo to stay nearby, even if he wandered sometimes, but she kept an eye on him anyway. She picked him up only when they neared the Great Hall. As they entered, Koko began socialising, which gave Ruby a chance to look around the room. Students eating, chatting, laughing together. One small group looked vaguely like they were up to something, but part of her wanted to just ignore it and let them have their fun. The other part made sure that she didn't let them out of her sight, especially when one stood up. Maybe they weren't up to anything, and were just planning a meeting or having fun together. Who was she to judge that?

Her cold gaze continued to survey the room until she settled. She was only partially paying attention as Koko started a conversation with someone. It wasn't personal that she was mostly ignoring her fellow prefects, but she wouldn't mind getting to know them some other time. However, that time was not now. Ruby wasn't thought of as aloof for no reason, but at least she was alert and ready if anything were to happen.

Just when Griseldis was ready to embrace her "fate" but instead feeling the pain, she felt as if someone caught her from falling. She looked up and saw the face of a familiar ginger, her pastel grey eyes widen in surprise, "Q-Quinn!?", there was also a cat on his shoulder staring down at her with those beautiful different colored eyes, the way how the cat behaved was like an elegant royalty. After the tall Hufflepuff Prefect helped her to her feet. The impact of accidentally smashing on the door created a visible red spot on her forehead, but the heat on her redden cheeks overcome the pain. He had a very strong accent but Griseldis still understood what he said, she nodded and quickly thanked him, "T-thank you for saving me from falling and yes, you're totally right...I'll try not to be too clumsy again hehehe..." The Quinn in front of her was a different person, unlike the Quinn she first met from the Masquerade ball, he seemed fine now. Griseldis returned him with a soft grin as well, "Indeed, long time no see. But I still want to apologize for what I did back then, let me treat you to some tea and Chinese desserts next time."

Before she could wait for Quinn to answer, she heard a girl's voice from the side saying that the door got her good which was kind of true though. Grisleidis turned around and to her surprise, it was one of her House Prefect, Xailah Alptraum. The first time she saw her was at the Dodgeball game, she was like a cat, very nimble and those golden eyes with split pupils always sparked with curiosity. And a few months later she was announced by their Head of House that she would be the new Gryffindor Prefect, that was when she learned about her name. "Oh, good morning, Xailah. You're right...the door did get me good.", Griseldis replied with a sheepish smile. "And I'm alright, I had worse before so this is really nothing." She reassured her and also waved at the grey cat in her arms, that was when she realized, not only did she met two Prefects today, both had their cats with them. How Griseldis wished that she could bring her owl with her in the Great Hall but Crystal would rather stay with her own kind in the Owlery instead of being surrounded by people and other creatures.

Then she heard a soft "Hello" that got her attention and once again, to her surprise, two pretty Slytherin Prefects just came by them and the one who greeted them was the girl who might still have Alan's pocket watch, well, at least, Alan still didn't mention about his pocket watch being returned yet or maybe he forgot to mention it? The blond Slytherin Prefect finally introduced herself as Koko and Griseldis gave her a friendly smile, "Koko...that's such a cute name, I'm Gris, by the way, and of course, I remember you. Glad to see you again and thanks for asking, I'm totally fine thanks to Quinn's quick act. My plan for this morning still doesn't change, really excited to try the waffles and pancakes soon!" While the other Slytherin girl who she also encountered in the corridors was still like last year with a stoic expression, only scanning around the area quietly without greeting them but Griseldis didn't mind at all.

But then, a very interesting group behind Quinn who were ready to leave from their seats suddenly caught her eyes, and in that group, there was a small girl with light blue hair looked so adorable that Griseldis couldn't help but want to throw her arms to hug the cute girl. However, instead of doing that, she simply walked towards the group and greeted them politely, "Good morning! I just wanted to tell you your blue hair is very pretty." She complimented the blue-haired Ravenclaw. She didn't recognize the other Ravenclaw girl though but a Slytherin who was beside her certainly got her attention, "Huh? Wait, I remember you, you're the Slytherin boy who visited the library past curfew." She pointed out. "Well, at least, you and the other Gryffindor girl didn't cause much of a trouble so I let it slide for this once." Griseldis said to the Slytherin boy, "Ah, I almost forgot, how rude of me, I haven't told you my name back then, I'm Griseldis Edelhardt but you may call me Gris instead and I'm a second-year Gryffindor Prefect. Nice to meet you three. Oh! And have you tried the special Breakfast menu yet? The waffles and pancakes must be very delicious!" The Gryffindor Prefect said with a lot of enthusiasm in her voice.

Interacting with @Lilith Hayes, @Penelope Alexander and @Jack Burnett. For now she hadn't noticed her Prefect colleagues yet. She's in an awful mood.
The Great Hall was as busy as ever. To Nico's surprise, alot of students didn't mind to get up early for food. The Prefect hadn't really slept that night since she had troubles with memories of recent events that kept on haunting her. It had to stop at some point right? Her shark plushie had been sent to her parents since it had a rip in it and she didn't want to rip it further... It should be better when he would return from Mom Hospital. Nico sighed as she stared at her empty plate in front of her. Her stomach longed for food, yet her mind convinced her she wouldn't be able to keep it in.

She should try to eat something. Tiny bites. No rush.

Her ice blue eyes glanced at one of the trays in front of her. The look on her face was empty. No expression. She was deadtired. How long had it been since she had some good nightsleep? Sigh.

Annoyed by hunger and insomnia, the redhead snatched a chocolate muffin from the golden shining tray. One of her favourites, but not today... Carefully, she took a bite, but it tasted like nothing. She had to swallow some of it down or... Well... She had to.

Her make-up was flawless once more, however, her lack of food and sleep did make her skin look more creepy than pretty today. Useless. Her lack of motivation to look formidable was missing too as her Prefect badge wasn't glistening on her black turtle-neck sweater, but stowed away in her pocket. Her hair was brushed but put up in a messy ponytail as she truly couldn't be bothered today. Her legs didn't wear her regular fun, cosy overknee socks but a skintight dark blue jeans instead. She did however pick short wooly blue socks to give herself atleast some comfort.

What was up with everyone today anyway? So cheerfull. So much energy. Where the heck did they get that from? Sitting at the Slytherin table, things were rather quiet, but SOMEONE had to go over and chat up some girls from the Ravenclaw table. Infront of her.

Was some peace and quiet and... good food on this morning so FRICKING MUCH to ask for?

Nico couldn't help but listen to their exciting chatting about what the frick was up with Ravenclaws and what not. What the frick was up with Slytherins AND Ravenclaws.

Holy. Fricking. Shoe.

Slowely, the redhead started to turn over to them, staring at them from between the students who were sitting in front of her. Her piercing blue eyes showed a small red dot in the dark slits of her eyes. She got so worked up about them, their excitement, ...

Wh- They were.. planning something... Something that was a little too much fun. Any other day, Nico would've maybe let it slide, but that day... was DEFENITELY not today.

The little dhampir stowed away her chocolate muffin in her pocket as she stood up. Crawling underneath the table to the other side, appearing behind the two Ravenclaw girls who were being questioned.

They hadn't really noticed her as they were fully emerged in their dreams of... ghost hunting? Did she hear that right? Something like that...

As she knew she couldn't just scream at them right now, Nico slowely but suddenly, rested her cold hands on one shoulder of both Ravenclaw students. She made sure that her hands made contact with the skin of their necks, even if it was just a finger, letting her cold presence be felt.

'My..My... What's this all about?' Nico tried to smile. Usually she had one of the warmest smiles. She could comfort students pretty good, however, this smile... was slightly crooked and disturbing.

'So much excitement so early in the morning... Mind telling me .. about your... adventure?' She tilted her head, the red dots in her eyes staring back at theirs if they ever made eyecontact with her.

She was so busy with these students that she hadn't noticed the flock of Prefect colleagues that clustered together at the door. Nor the one [Gris] who had approached one of the girls.

As Lilith was about to follow Penelope and Jack out of the Great Hall, she heard a very loud noise. A girl had walked straight into the wooden door of the Great Hall. She watched as the girl began to fall but luckily an older brown haired boy appeared to catch her. She seemed stunned for a moment but luckily seemed to be able to shake it off. Other students approached her to see if she was okay. Lilith noticed that they all were wearing prefect badges. It felt like there was a sudden gathering of prefects in the Great Hall.

The girl who had hit her head against the door looked over to Lilith, Penelope and Jack and approached them. Lilith could see the shiny prefect badge on her Gryffindor robes. Lilith was terrified as she had never spoken to a prefect before. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest.

Why is she coming over here? Were we doing something wrong?
"Good morning! I just wanted to tell you your blue hair is very pretty."
Lilith was taken aback. She really thought that she was in some sort of trouble. She remembered that other first years had mentioned that they were not sure if she could have blue hair. No one with authority had said anything about it, but it was a fear that was still in the back of her mind. She had a puzzled look on her face.

"Um... Thank you," Lilith stuttered.

The brown haired prefect introduced herself as Gris. She seemed nice enough. Lilith was about the leave when she felt a cold hand on her shoulder. She almost jumped out of her skin. She turned around to see a Slytherin prefect glaring at her with red eyes. The prefect was very pale. Lilith could tell that she must have some dhampir blood in her. Her parents had warned her about dhampirs. They told her that some were not as civil as they appeared to be and to never get on their bad side. The dhampir had frightening smile and, though completely illogical, Lilith thought she was about to kill her.
My..My... What's this all about? So much excitement so early in the morning... Mind telling me .. about your... adventure?
Absolutely terrified, Lilith opened her mouth and screamed.

Quinn took his hand and ran his fingers over Irene's head scratching just behind her ears. Illiciting an unexpected and audible purr from the feline who fithet pressed her head into the gingers large seeming clumsily hands. An yet the way in which he handled her showed an unexpected tenderness and care. Even his demeanor was almost completely relaxed. His Jade-blue eyes carried another unexpected gentleness to them. It was warm and inviting like a cup of hot cocoa on a cold winters night. His eyes scanned the others who quickly approached. He recognized some but not others. Most of them had their pets, surprisingly, which intrigued Irene who after stopping her affectionate purring and nuzzles of his hand. She resumed her curious scrutinizing of each pet and student. Again acting like a regal queen while doing so. Approachable yet unapproachable. She seemed to really enjoy her throne of power that was Quinn's right shoulder.

"Aye how goes it?" He stated to everyone who was in his vicinity flashing a quick grin to Koko, waving at the others casually. "Well anyway yall had me at waffles. So let's stahp wastin time an fill our bellies with grub. Ye can just call me Quinn btw. Doesn't much bother me." Suddenly Irene started to meow rather loudly. "No ye can't have pancakes" She meowed again. "No ye can't have the damn waffles. Ye're not Garfield." The last meow she made sounded rather sassy. "Oi! Don't you back sass me!" the feline simply blinked her eyes, and tilted her head acting all innocent. Quinn sighed and then suddenly his eyes widened and without another word he passed the other prefect be lining it for another prefect. One he was very familiar with. So focused was he that he didn't hear his grumbling stomach or Irene's whines of protest. He easily passed Gris when she was headed over to chit chat with the younger students. Once he reached his destination an almost terrifying grin spread across his face. It was a happy joyful one. However it was just damn big.

Standing right behind Nico, Quinn bent down and abruptly picked her up. Much the same way he would pick up a stuffed bear. She was just so darn light. He couldn't resist and instead brought her in for a nearly bone crushing hug. "Niiiicccooooooo!!" He exclaimed almost squealing causing Irene to jump up and scramble on top of his head hissing down at him. But he ignored her. The very large ad Pmittedly intimidating Half-Giant of Hufflepuff looked like a small spoiled child hugging his favorite teddy. Pure joy was on his face.

Breakfast in mind, a very hungry Thora leisurely made her way towards the Great Hall. Being so near to winter break--it officially began the following day--the students had quite a bit of last-minute homework to submit to their professors before they were allowed respite and Thora was as busy as ever. Somehow, though, she was on top of everything. Another near-sleepless night had proved to be more useful than most, and the Charms Homework she had planned on completing in place of breakfast this morning had been quickly completed with the aid of Lumos.

Thora honestly had no idea why she had even considered thinking of skipping breakfast. It was typically fun--she could talk to the very few people she was comfortable--and magical food certainly beat that of the Muggle world. Well, all of that wasn't true. Cowering from scary older students or people she knew as threats were a given of mealtimes, but ever since the ball, Thora knew some people. No longer was she the one girl sitting alone at a long table of happy, cloak-clad sneks. No longer was she the one who didn't know a single person. Popular, she was far from, but at least things were getting a little better.

A bloodcurdling scream from within the room echoed throughout the castle, sending shivers down Thora's spine and making her legs shake a little. What the heck was happening in there? Breaking from a saunter into a brisk walk, the Slytherin barely allowed herself time to doubt herself before brushing past the wooden doors and into the Great Hall.

The scene that greeted her was both surprising and seemingly innocuous. There were an awful lot of prefects milling around, which honestly made Thora a little nervous, but other than that, everything seemed normal. Even the steaming waffles and pancakes weren't a hair out of place, plates piled high sitting on the tables. Fighting down a wave of fear, Thora glanced around. Why did she even come in here? Being around so many prefects just made it easier for her to get caught, didn't it?

While the faces of most students sitting were completely foreign to Thora, it seemed that she wasn't completely friendless, even here. "Gris!" Thora called, hoping she wasn't interrupting whatever conversation she was having with a blue-haired girl. Blue hair... That wasn't Elena, was it? She hadn't seen any other people with that brilliant shade of hair, ever, but she hadn't exactly seen most of the first years. "Hey Koko!" Thora greeted her fellow Slytherin keeper.

"Wh-what's happening here?" Thora found her voice being nearly lost in the whirlwind of conversation. Someone was getting spun around, people were eating, and of course, voices overlapped other voices. A little bit of commotion was fine by Thora, but still, the paranoid little girl continued to grip her wand with a white-knuckled left hand. As long as nobody died here, she would be fine. But still, she had seen too much at this school, despite being in only her second year. Anything could happen.

Gradually, Jack became more and more aware that a gathering of prefects (and several of their cats) seemed to have been occurring nearby. It distracted him from his conversation with the Ravenclaw girls so that he found himself paying more attention to what was going on with the prefects rather than the Ravenclaws.

His hypothesis about the prefect gathering was only confirmed when one of the few prefects he had actually met before - the Gryffindor girl with the buns who had helped him with Alex his first night at Hogwarts - made her presence known. She complimented Lillth's blue hair before addressing Jack, identifying him as the boy who had visited the library past curfew.

"Heh...yeah, sorry," he apologized sheepishly. "Since it was my first night, I wasn't really familiar with the rules and I couldn't sleep. Didn't expect to have company, though, especially unwanted company, so thanks for the rescue from her." It struck him that he actually owed this girl a debt, and he was very serious about repaying his debts. Fortunately, the prefect then proceeded to introduce herself, making it much easier for the Slytherin boy to find out her name in order to repay her.

"That's okay! It was pretty crazy that night; not to mention late. I didn't remember to give you my name, either," he recalled, not in the habit of providing information of his own unless it was asked for. "Nice to finally know your name, Gris. I'm Jack Burnett. I definitely owe you one, so if I can ever return the favor, just let me know. I prefer to settle my debts sooner rather than later."

He laughed lightly as Gris spoke of the waffles and pancakes. "You know, I think I took a couple bites, but since breakfast is one of the few times we get a chance to talk with so many other students, I got distracted and came to ask these guys a question." Jack gestured with a broad sweep of his arm to the Ravenclaw table, particularly Lilith and Penelope. "Maybe I'll go back and finish in a bit."

Though he had felt eyes on the back of his neck since he had come over to the Ravenclaw table, Jack had chalked it up to his fellow Slytherin wondering what he was doing over there. As none were evidently interested enough to bother asking, however, he hadn't thought to turn around to see who was watching, much less give them an explanation.

But when another redheaded Slytherin joined them from seemingly out of nowhere, putting a hand on the back of Lilith's neck as she made an inquiry, the poor blue-haired Ravenclaw screamed in fear. Jack threw his head back and laughed, unable to help himself. When he finally managed to get a grip, he noticed the Slytherin girl was rather pretty. And though he wasn't usually the sort to find an interest in people based on mere appearances, for some reason, Jack found he had difficulty trying to tear his gaze from her. Was it some sort of spell?

The red dots in the girl's blue eyes reminded Jack of a story - the story of a very intelligent Englishman who was most polite when he was angriest. He also had blue eyes (forget-me-not blue, in his case) in which red points would appear when he was most infuriated; the only outward evidence of his rage. This man was also one of the most notorious villains the literary world had ever known - Captain James Matthew Hook. And this Slytherin girl seemed to be behaving just like him.

"Hey, Snake," he called to her playfully, as was his custom to call other students by their house animal if he didn't know their name. "What're you doing ruffling all these young eagles' feathers first thing in the morning? If you're hungry, food's back there." Jack nodded back toward their table, grinning at Nico. "Unless it was something more than food that you were hungry for."

And then the girl was scooped up by a very large, very excitable Hufflepuff boy. Watching, Jack's grin became slightly pained, not envying his fellow Slytherin's situation. That's what happens when you make friends, he thought, shaking his head with pity as he snickered under his breath.
