Maddy had been looking at the stars and trying to make a figure from the stars in her head.
She felt glad that she and Isabella had been able to make Ellie laugh. She couldn't stand people being sad infront of her and would do anything to atleast make them smile.
So, when Ellie laughed...a genuine laughed, Maddy felt herself smiling and turning to look at the stars with contentment that she felt good with Isabella and her.
Maddy was lost in thoughts when she heard Isabella saying :
Maddy heard Isabella say:
She turned to Isabella and said " I can not sketch even if my life depended on it, you two are the artists here, I'm just a goofball. I'm the girl who will talk your ear off and then drag you into mischief. But hey! I can pose....maybe?" Maddy said, noting that her mischievous tone had returned. She grinned to the girls feeling the cool night air hitting her face.

Maddy nodded and said "Exactly, we can make Hogwarts our home, if we spend our time with the right people.....and I feel like I might have found my second family guys" She smiled to the two of them.It doesn’t have to be perfect. Maybe what matters most is having people who get it. People like us.
Maddy heard Isabella say:
Maddy huffed to that, " Sketch! pfftt, if you call drawing stick figures as sketching then yeah sure!!" she said sarcastically, remembering when she tried to draw an apple once, just out of trying something new and she ended up making.....something....just not an apple.Do you sketch Maddy?”
She turned to Isabella and said " I can not sketch even if my life depended on it, you two are the artists here, I'm just a goofball. Ellie giggled, covering her mouth with her hand as if she wasn’t used to laughing this much. The sound felt strange on her tongue, light, not shaky, not nervous. Just… real.
“You’d probably be a really fun model, Maddy,” Ellie said shyly, glancing at her with a small grin.
“Maybe not still enough for a serious portrait, but… definitely enough for something playful. Maybe something more abstract. A true work of art. And I'd love to see some of your sketches, Isabella, if you'd be ok with showing me”
Her green eyes flicked between Isabella and Maddy, and for the first time, she wasn’t overthinking every word. The fear of saying the wrong thing didn’t feel as sharp anymore.
“I mostly paint. Women, or flowers, or the way the sunlight looks on the floor. But maybe I could draw you both sometime. Like a memory… of this.”
She motioned to the three of them, sitting in the tower, feet swinging into the night.
“Our first night meeting. I think I want to remember it.
Ellie leaned back on her hands, tilting her face up toward the stars. The breeze tangled through her curls, and she felt, just for a moment, that maybe Hogwarts wasn’t so scary after all.
“A Gryffindor, and two Hufflepuffs,” she said softly, smiling to herself.
“We’d make a good trio.”
Her voice grew quieter, but steadier.
“Thanks. For talking to me.”
She turned to both of them, cheeks flushed pink, and added, “I think… I’d like to be friends. If you both would want that.”

Maddy noticed that Ellie had covered her laugh, she turned to her saying " Hey! don't do that, you have a beautiful laugh, don't let anyone tell you otherwise" she grinned and added, "And anyways you better get used to it, because when you are with me, you are bound to laugh"
She laughed and said "I definitely can't be serious enough for a portrait but thanks for calling me a true work of art. In my mothers eyes though, I'm a true work of trouble"
"Yes! I'd love to see both of your paintings, and I'll probably steal some of time, just a warning....I need something for my dorm, and what better portrait than a self-made sketch or painting from one of you guys" Maddy grinned to the girls.
Maddy felt the wind on her face as she turned towards the sky and said, " I dont think I will ever forget this." Her voice turned soft as she added, " A memory of today would be nice" she smirked and said, "Though I call dibs, its mine!!" she laughed at herself.
"We will make an Amazing trio" Maddy said exaggerating the word amazing.
As Ellie said thanks Maddy turned towards her, "No need to say thanks we are here anytime right, Isabella?" She turned towards Isabella.
She smiled at Ellie then turned to look at both the girls and said, "I'd love to be your friend too, I tell you guys, Hogwarts isnt ready for this trio!!" she whooped at smiled towards the sky.
Maddy had a fear of not making any friends because of her behaviour, she thought people might consider her mean or too outgoing, so she felt really happy that it was not like that.

Ellie’s chest warmed at Maddy’s words, the kind of warmth that spread all the way to her fingertips. She hadn’t realized how badly she’d needed someone to tell her her laugh was okay, that she was okay. Her hands dropped from her mouth, and she let herself smile without hiding it this time.
“You really think so?” she asked softly, glancing at Maddy, then Isabella.
“I’ve always felt like… my laugh was too loud. A little annoying. But maybe I just haven't met people who appreciate it.” She sat up straighter, brushing dust off her skirt, her curls bouncing as she moved.
“I can paint you something, Maddy. And you, too, Isabella. Maybe I could do a silly one for Maddy, something that'll really capture her spirit, and a peaceful one for Isabella. Like an elegant portrait.” Her grin wobbled a little, but she held onto it.
“I can’t believe I was sitting here thinking I’d be alone the whole year. And now I’m… talking to people.” She blinked quickly, embarrassed at how watery her eyes felt, but she pressed on. Ellie leaned back on her palms again, gazing at the wide stretch of stars.
“It's really nice,” she said, her voice bright. “To have met such cool people. We can stick together.” She tilted her head toward the other girls, her smile soft but certain.
“So… who's your favorite artist, Isabella? I really like Klimt. And would you still be down to show me your sketches? No pressure.”

Isabella blinked, a little surprised by how much Ellie had just opened up. For a moment, she didn’t know what to say. Not because she didn’t care, but because she really did, and she didn’t want to mess it up.
“That’s… really sweet, Ellie.” she said finally, her voice quiet but warm. “And honestly? I think your laugh is really great! It makes people smile. That’s not annoying. That’s a gift.” She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, feeling a little shy herself now. “I’d love a painting. That sounds amazing. I’ve never had anyone paint something just for me before.”
At the question, she perked up. “Oh! My favorite artist? Probably Frida Kahlo. Her stuff is so real and emotional. She didn’t try to hide how she felt. She just put it all in her art. I admire that a lot.” She glanced down at her sketchbook, then back at Ellie. “I can show you some of my sketches, if you want to see. They’re not perfect or anything, but I would like for you to see them.”
Isabella smiled, small but genuine. “Yeah…We should definitely stick together. I think this year’s gonna be way better than I thought it would be.”

Ellie’s whole face lit up at Isabella’s words. Her heart fluttered, a mix of pride and relief that she hadn’t expected to feel tonight.
She leaned forward eagerly, eyes wide as she said, “Frida Kahlo? I love her too. She painted herself even when it was painful, and it was still beautiful. I have a coinpurse with some of her artwork on it!” Her gaze drifted down to the sketchbook resting on Isabella’s lap. For a second she hesitated, chewing her bottom lip, then she reached out just a little, not to grab it, but to bridge the space.
“These are gorgeous,” she said softly, almost reverently. “I don’t care if they’re perfect. Art doesn’t need to be perfect to mean something.” She smiled, timid but sure.
“But, these are perfect.” She shifted slightly, turning to glance at Maddy with a playful glint in her eye.
“And you? Do you have any hobbies you like? Other than dungbombs.” She giggled, shoulders loosening more than they had all day.
“I could see you being good at quidditch.” The breeze tugged at her curls again, and Ellie tilted her head back toward the stars. Her voice grew softer, thoughtful.
“The air is so nice out here. Can you guys see any of the constellations? I never can.” She looked back at both girls, her smile gentle but certain now.
“What's yalls star signs?” She hugged her knees to her chest, cheeks pink from more than just the night air.
“And… would yall wanna hang out again sometime?” Ellie asked, her tone hesitant but with a spark of excitement.
