I'm sorry, Em! At least it's a job you don't have to take home with you and do after hours (I hope!)Emily Shephard wrote: 7 Sep 2025, 12:43 Ugh... Working the weekend and then jumping back into working weekdays... I've had no weekend!![]()
Still perplexes me that your universities has a job that cleans other's rooms. Where I'm from, that's your responsibility and I think they're half hoping the students don't keep it tidy so they can keep security deposits at the end of term.

Yes, it has and always will be students' responsibility to look after their living spaces. Weekly cleans is just to wipe down surfaces - to get the stuff off where students probably can't get at (so hob surfaces for example, in cases where they haven't been cleaned properly etc).
But with students knowing someone will come in and clean eventually, it creates a massive disconnect. As you said, students won't keep tidy when they're paid to clean after them. And then they offer a charge for students who want their rooms cleaned on a regular basis for them. Last I heard, the charge was £40 per request...
Honestly, there are some parts of this job I justify and others I don't.

Yea, either way - I'm sorry that it gets frustrating at times! I suppose that's all jobs though. Sometimes my days are great - other times I want to pull my hair out. There have been days I've cried on my drive home, ha.
