Eri decided to go to the dueling room to get some frustration out. Hoping she would be the only one there she walked in. Realizing she was not the only one there she sighed. Hopefully they would leave her alone. Walking pass the others people could tell she was frustrated. Her face was read with anger and she was breathing heavily. She walked to a training dummy and pulled out her wand. "Confringo." She used the blasting curse on the dummy and it was a bit intensified cause of her anger.
If nobody bothered her it would be a gift because she was riled up and would fire at anyone willing to make that choice. She kept firing spell after spell at the training dummy until her face was no longer red and she breathed normally.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath and opened her eyes. Finally she was calm. Eri put her wand away and took a step back. Noticing she never once missed the dummy. She smiled, her aim was getting a lot better.
Her face turned red with embarrassment when she remembered she wasn't alone and that she just exploded with anger on the training dummy.

Adam had walked in a few minutes earlier and was amazed at what he had seen the Ravenclaw girl do. She was casting spells that Adam didn't think you learned until fifth year; she must have come from an extremely powerful wizard background. He watched, captivated, as she decimated the training dummy like it was her greatest enemy, and just barely kept himself from applause when she finished. Uh oh, he thought as she noticed him standing and observing, I've been caught. Adam decided it would probably be better for him if he were to make the first move, so he waved and said, "Hi! I'm Adam. Nice job by the way, on the...." He motioned towards the training dummy, lying damaged on its side.
Adam had always wanted to learn how to duel. It was his brother's favorite thing in the world, and it looked like it would be the height of excitement. He had begun to think about what type of spellwork would best suit him last night, but didn't get very far before falling asleep. Now he could see himself as a duelist. The spells were quick, concise, and powerful. Adam liked that.
Clearing his throat, he smiled at her and resumed talking. "Uh, could you maybe show me how to do that? I've always wanted to know. I mean, you don't know me, so it's totally cool if you don't want to, but I just thought..." =
He trailed off, waiting for her answer. He hoped it would be a good one.

She turned around still embarrassed she wasn't alnoe. "I'm Eri.."She watched the training dummy repair itself. "I could show you. I guess." She takes a deep breath again and she was still embarrassed. She smiled at him trying to get over her embarrassment. "My aunt taught me some of those spells." She took another step away from the training dummy. "They are more powerful when you put some emotion in them. Like um you saw me vent my anger and frustration onto that training dummy." She wondered if he knew any spells for dueling. There were lots of spells but she didn't think as a first year people should know them. She was kind of embarrassed that she knew all these spells but then again thats why she was Ravenclaw.
She wiped dust of the hems of her robes with her hand. She felt quite awkward standing there waiting for an answer from the boy. She wondered if he was really up to learning these spells or just trying to make her not feel as awkward as she already does. Hopefully nobody else in the room was going to comment on her preformance. That would make her even more embarrasssed.

Adam smiled back. "Thanks, Eri. I appreciate it." He faced the training dummy and held up his wand. It wasn't made for dueling -- the dueling wand given to him at Ollivanders' had been taken back just as quickly -- but he thought it would still do fine. Focusing on the situation at hand, he turned his head and asked, "What was that one you cast? Confringo?" Without waiting for an answer, he flicked his wand forward and shouted, "Confringo!"
Nothing. Adam sighed and looked back at Eri, but he knew that he had to try this himself. Searching deeply within him, finding some sort of emotion to draw from, he cast again. "Confringo!" This time, a warm breeze blew by him, and he could've sworn a bit of light sparked off of the tip of his wand. He was making progress, but it still wasn't a ready dueling spell, and he didn't want to give up until he had cast it successfully.
Adam reached for the same source of anger he had felt when trying to cast a Levitation Charm. He was a wizard; he had the gift to influence his world. So he wasn't going to stand by and let the world resist influence. Angry at his magic for faltering and embarrassing him, he raised his wand a final time. He glared at the training dummy. How dare that stupid sack still be standing there, perfectly fine, exuding a patronizing smile? Adam took all of these emotions into heart, and thinking of his brother and his parents, let the spell fly.
"Confringo!" The dummy fell to the ground, a bit seared on the edges. Unfortunately, so did Adam. He had miscalculated or misinterpreted some part of the spell, and rather than slamming the target backwards, he had created a minor explosion in midair. It was enough to lift him off his feet and throw him to the floor a few feet away. He caught a few various people looking at him in concern, some laughing at his pitiful attempt. Groaning and holding his side, he grimaced at Eri. "Guess I'd better work on my aim. huh?"
He was lucky (but a bit disappointed) that his injury wasn't serious enough to land him in the Hospital Wing. He got up shakily, already starting to feel better. It was just a bruise, no matter how bad it might feel. He laughed, or, tried to laugh as much as he could, and smiled at the girl that had helped him produce his first major spell.
"Well, at least you don't have to worry about drawing everyone's attention now."

She looked at him concerned. "Thats not a spell you should have tried for your first spell." She pulled her wand out and walked in front of the training dummy she had obliterated earlier. She took a deep breath and used her anger towards her parents to fuel a spell. "Confringo." She hit the center of the dummy with the blasting curse. "Oblitero."The dummies head exploded and she smiled. "Confringo is the blasting curse. Oblitero obviously obliterates things." She watched as the dummy repaired itself. She didn't know if she should teach him these spells since she only came to vent off frustration. She smiled and walked away from the dummy as she stowed away her wand. She didn't know if she wanted to stay in here. He was right people weren't staring at hwr anymore.
She realized she forgot to ask if ge was okay. "Are you alright?" She said hoping he didn't notice she forgot to ask.
She didn't know what to do anymore she could leave and go back to the common room or she could stay and practice her spells. She knew how to preform very few spells without saying them outloud. It was a helpful skill.

He nodded. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. You're right, I probably should've started slow." The pain had dulled, though he knew that it would be worse in the morning. He saw Eri waiting hesitantly by the door, and he wondered if she was going to leave or not. She seemed to be questioning the same thing. He liked Eri, and they seemed to be getting along well. Maybe he should suggest something new to do.
"Hey, so, I think I'm going to try something smaller. Maybe a Disarming spell? I know that's probably pretty basic stuff for someone that knows things like Confringo and Oblitero, but if you wanted to stay..."
Wait a minute. A new idea was forming in Adam's mind. They were both Ravenclaw, which meant they could both enter the common room. Why not bring back his favorite household game?
"Actually, Eri, have you ever played wizard chess?" The chosen strategy game by teenage and adult wizards across the world, wizard chess was the Harringtom family's first choice on game night. Their house was often home to vicious chess tournaments that could last the whole night, and cause grudges that would last for a week. Once, Adam had beaten his brother after a three-hour long game, and Dean had almost drowned him in the lake by their house. Not purposefully, of course.
They weren't crazy people.
For someone like Adam, a natural strategist, wizard chess was a brilliant way to spend time playing a game and still honing your skills. He wondered if it was just as popular at Hogwarts as it was in Nottingham.
"I think there's a chess board up in the common room. You up for a game?"

"Expeliarmus is a simple disarming spell." She looked at him and was relieved when he asked if she wanted to play wizard chess instead of practicing dueling spells. " I have a board and my own set of playing peices. I don't think I have an extra set. Well we should go on and leave the rest of these people be." She takes her bag and waits for his response wondering if he did want to play. She shrugged the thiught away of course he wanted to play he wasn't trying to get her to leave the training room.
She smiled and put her wand away not wanting to practice anymore. She scuffed her foot on the ground in thought. She remembered that she wasn't alone and she snapped back into reality. She continued to wait wondering what spells the others in the dueling room knew. She smiled and put her bag onto her shoulder and waited to see if he was coning or not. She was glad she was making friends. She headed towards the door and walked out of it and was ob her way to the common room. She waited outside of the room for him to cone along.
